[00:00:01]
OK, THANK YOU. GOOD AFTERNOON, AND WELCOME TO THE GARLAND INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT
[I. Call to Order and Determination of Quorum]
BOARD OF TRUSTEE COMMITTEE MEETING OUR FACILITY COMMITTEE MEETING TUESDAY, MARCH 8, 2022.I WILL CALL THIS COMMITTEE MEETING TO ORDER AND WE'LL DETERMINE THAT THERE IS A QUORUM PRESENT. MRS. HOGAN, DO WE HAVE ANY PUBLIC COMMENTS? PUBLIC FORUM? NO.
WE WILL MOVE TO NUMBER THREE OUR SUPERINTENDENTS REPORT DR.
[III. Superintendent's Report]
LOPEZ.JUST AS A REMINDER TO THE PUBLIC.
WE HAVE MOVED OUR MEETINGS TO THE GRCTC FOR PROBABLY UNTIL JUNE OR JULY DUE TO ALL THE RENOVATION PROJECTS WITH OUR AIR SYSTEMS THAT ARE HAPPENING RIGHT NOW.
AND ONCE THAT IS OPERATIONAL, WE WILL BE BACK TO OUR NORMAL PLACE, NORMAL TIME AT HARRIS HILL. BUT UNTIL THEN, ALL COMMITTEE MEETINGS AND BOARD MEETINGS WILL BE HERE IN THE GRCTC. THANK YOU, DR.
LOPEZ. MOVING ON TO NUMBER FOUR, OUR FACILITIES AND MAINTENANCE TASBO CERTIFICATION,
[IV. Facilities and Maintenance TASBO Certifications]
MR. PAUL GONZALES.AND AS HE COMES FORWARD TRUSTEES, YOU WILL FIND THIS INFORMATION BEGINNING ON PAGE THREE.
I JUST SAY CONGRATULATIONS ANY TIME YOU CAN GET CERTIFICATIONS AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT, IT JUST MEANS BETTER WORK, BETTER SERVICE, IMPROVED TECHNIQUES FOR US.
SO THANK YOU ALL FOR GOING THROUGH THE PROCESS.
FACILITIES CHAIR GRIFFIN, MS. GRIFFIN, FACILITIES COMMITTEE BOARD OF TRUSTEES DR.
LOPEZ. JUST HERE TO SHARE SOME INFORMATION WITH YOU ALL TODAY.
AS MS. GRIFFIN WAS SHARING, I'D LIKE TO SHARE A LITTLE BIT ABOUT OUR TEAM AND HOW THE CERTIFICATIONS WORK THROUGH TASBO9.
SO AS YOU KNOW, TASBO IS A BIG ORGANIZATION AND SCHOOL BUSINESS, AND IT BASICALLY GIVES US AN OPPORTUNITY TO LEARN SCHOOL BUSINESS AND ALL DIFFERENT ASPECTS FROM WAREHOUSING TO MAINTENANCE TO PURCHASING CHANGE MANAGEMENT, STUDENT NUTRITION SERVICE, TRANSPORTATION, JUST A WIDE VARIETY OF TRAINING.
AND JUST TO KIND OF RECAP ON THAT.
ME AND DR. RINGO AND A LOT OF OUR TEAM WERE AT TASBO TRAINING LAST WEEK.
WE WERE MAKING UP SOME OF OUR CONTINUING EDUCATION.
SO AGAIN, I JUST WANTED TO SHARE SOME INFORMATION WITH THE FACILITIES COMMITTEE.
THE THREE LEVELS OF CERTIFICATIONS THAT WE HAVE, WE HAVE OUR CTSBS, WE HAVE OUR CTSBO'S AND WE HAVE OUR RTSBA'S.
THESE ARE THREE LEVELS OF CERTIFICATION AND AS YOU CAN SEE, THE REQUIREMENTS THAT ARE INVOLVED FROM THE COURSES THAT WE HAVE TO TAKE, THE AREAS OF SPECIALTIES THAT WE HAVE TO ATTEND CLASSROOM COURSES AND THEN ANY KIND OF UNDERGRADUATES OR BACHELORS DEGREES THAT ARE REQUIRED FOR THE DIFFERENT CERTIFICATIONS.
SO JUST A GREAT, GREAT ORGANIZATION AGAIN AND GREAT PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT FOR OUR TEAM . AND FACILITIES AND MAINTENANCE.
WHEN I FIRST GOT HERE EIGHT YEARS AGO, THERE WAS ONLY TWO MEMBERS THAT HAD CERTIFICATIONS AND THAT WAS MYSELF AND THE DIRECTOR OF MAINTENANCE, JIMMY BEACH.
WE DIDN'T REALLY HAVE A BIG PARTICIPATION IN THIS ORGANIZATION AT THAT TIME, AND WE'VE REALLY GROWN OVER THE LAST EIGHT YEARS.
AS YOU CAN SEE, A LOT OF OUR TEAM MEMBERS, ANYWHERE FROM A SUPERVISOR OUT IN THE FIELD THAT SUPERVISES MAINTENANCE TO SOME OF THE MID MANAGEMENT MANAGERS AND THEN ALSO THE UPPER LEVEL ADMINISTRATORS.
AND HERE ARE SOME OF THE NAMES IN OUR DEPARTMENT, SOME OF OUR SUPERVISORS WITH THE DIFFERENT CERTIFICATIONS THAT THEY HOLD.
AND THEN OUR REGISTERED RTSBA'S, AND AGAIN, I JUST WANTED TO SHARE THAT INFORMATION WITH YOU ALL.
AGAIN, IT'S A GREAT ORGANIZATION AND IT REALLY HELPS OUR SUPERVISORS MANAGERS UNDERSTAND SCHOOL BUSINESS AND THE WAY THINGS SHOULD BE DONE.
ANY QUESTIONS? QUESTIONS TRUSTEES? LET'S GIVE THIS DEPARTMENT A BIG ROUND OF APPLAUSE.
[APPLAUSE] THANK YOU. SO OUR NEXT ITEM WILL BE MAINTENANCE AND OPERATIONS WORK ORDER
[V. Maintenance and Operations Work Order Update August 2021-October 2021]
UPDATE AUGUST 2021 TO OCTOBER 2021 AND WE'RE[00:05:01]
ON PAGES 10 THROUGH 16.I'M JIMMY BEACH, MAINTENANCE DIRECTOR, CHAIRMAN GRIFFIN, FACILITY COMMITTEE MEMBERS, TRUSTEES, DR.
LOPEZ. THANKS FOR THE OPPORTUNITY TO SHARE THIS INFORMATION WITH YOU TONIGHT.
OUR MAINTENANCE QUARTERLY ACTIVITY, LIKE YOU SAID, THIS IS FOR AUGUST, SEPTEMBER AND OCTOBER OF 2021.
THE SIDE ON THE LEFT IS THE REQUEST FOR WORK ORDERS THAT WE'VE DONE.
THE SIDE ON THE RIGHT IS THE COMPLETED WORK ORDERS THAT WE'VE DONE FOR THE SAME TIME FRAME. YOU MAY LOOK AT IT AND SAY YOU'RE DOWN 16 PERCENT, WHY? NORMALLY, WHEN WE DO PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE, WE HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO FIND MORE THINGS THAT HAVE TO BE FIXED IN THE SCHOOLS.
WE'RE SO SHORT ON STAFF RIGHT NOW THAT THE ONLY THINGS WE'RE DOING ARE THE THINGS WHERE WE GET WORK ORDERS IN TELLING US THERE'S PROBLEMS AND WE GO OUT AND FIX THOSE.
SO WE'RE JUST NOW CRANKING OUR PM PROGRAM BACK UP.
YOU SHOULD SEE THE NUMBERS REBOUND NEXT MONTH QUITE SATISFACTORY, I BELIEVE.
OK, THIS IS YEAR TO DATE ACTIVITY.
I THOUGHT IT WAS KIND OF AN INTERESTING SLIDE.
I MADE IT UP SO YOU CAN SEE THE MONTHLY COMPARISONS ON HOW WE'VE DONE.
YOU CAN ALL SEE THE ANNUAL TOTALS.
WE ACTUALLY HAD REQUESTS OF FIFTY FIVE THOUSAND FOUR HUNDRED AND TWENTY FOUR FOR THE 12 MONTH CYCLE. OUR COMPLETED FIFTY FOUR THOUSAND ONE HUNDRED AND FORTY FIVE WORK ORDERS.
ALL RIGHT. PM VERSUS ROUTINE MAINTENANCE.
AS I MENTIONED A MOMENT AGO, WHAT I DID HERE IS COMPARED 2020 TO 2021 TIME PERIOD.
AS YOU CAN SEE IN 2020, WE HAD SEVENTY EIGHT PERCENT OF OUR WORK ORDERS FOR ACTUAL ROUTINE WORK ORDERS AND TWENTY ONE PERCENT WERE PM.
THIS YEAR, LIKE I SAID, BECAUSE OF STAFFING, OUR ROUTINE WORK ORDERS WERE AT EIGHTY TWO PERCENT AND OUR PM WORK ORDERS ONLY SEVENTEEN.
HERE AGAIN, THAT'S JUST A LAW OF PHYSICS WHEN YOU DON'T HAVE THE BODIES TO GET OUT AND TOUR THE SCHOOLS LIKE WE USED TO AND WE'RE FIXING TO START BACK, YOU WON'T HAVE THE VOLUME. SO THAT SHOULD INCREASE NEXT MONTH.
WHAT WE LOOK FOR IS ON TIME COMPLETION RATE IN SEVEN DAYS OR LESS ON A WORK ORDER THAT'S PUT INTO OUR SYSTEM.
THE STANDARD IS SEVENTY FIVE PERCENT TO BE COMPLETED IN THAT SEVEN DAY PERIOD.
AS YOU CAN SEE, WE DID SEVENTY SIX PERCENT ON TIME OR BETTER, AND TWENTY FOUR PERCENT WENT A LITTLE BIT OVER. THEY COULD GO OVER FOR ANYTHING.
IT COULD BE WE NEEDED SPECIALTY EQUIPMENT THAT WE DIDN'T HAVE OR HAVE AVAILABLE.
LOTS OF THINGS CAN CAN AFFECT THAT ONE, BUT THE MAIN THING IS WE'RE STAYING ON TRACK.
EMERGENCY VERSUS ROUTINE, I'M SORRY, I GET TICKLED EVERY TIME I KIND OF LOOK AT THIS SLIDE AND THERE'S A REASON FOR IT.
IN THE MINDS OF OUR PRINCIPALS AND OUR STAFFS AT THE SCHOOL EVERYTHING IS AN EMERGENCY.
AND I UNDERSTAND WHEN I GOT THE OPPORTUNITY LAST YEAR TO GO OUT AS A SUBSTITUTE TEACHER, I SAW THIS, I SAW IT IN EFFECT.
I'D BE IN A CLASSROOM AND THE KIDS MAYBE NEEDED SOMETHING OR SOMETHING WASN'T FIXED THE WAY IT SHOULD BE.
AND YOU SEE THE FACT THAT IT REALLY AFFECTED THE PERFORMANCE.
SO WE HAVE OPENED IT UP TO A POINT THAT ANY TEACHER, ANY ADMINISTRATOR CAN PUT A WORK ORDER IN THE SYSTEM.
WE GET IT COMPLETED WITHIN SEVEN DAYS.
IT GIVES THOSE KIDS A CHANCE TO GET BACK TO WHAT THEY'RE USED TO DOING.
SO THE ITEMS THAT WERE REALLY TRUE, QUOTE UNQUOTE EMERGENCIES THAT WOULD REALLY STAND OUT, WE'RE PEST CONTROL AND PLUMBING.
WHY THOSE TWO? WELL, THE PLUMBING PRETTY SELF-EXPLANATORY.
I MEAN, WITH, YOU KNOW, WITH FIFTY THOUSAND PLUS KIDS, YOU'RE GOING TO HAVE STOPPAGES.
AND UNFORTUNATELY, THAT'S A BIG ONE.
PEST CONTROL DURING THIS TIME FRAME, THAT'S WHEN THE WASP BUILD THEIR NEST AND THEY WERE EVERYWHERE LAST YEAR. FOR SOME REASON, WE JUST HAD AN ABUNDANCE OF THOSE, SO WE GOT A LOT OF EMERGENCY WORK ORDERS ON IT.
ANY QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS ABOUT THE WORK ORDER PROGRAM QUARTERLY REPORT? TRUSTEES ANY QUESTIONS? JUST THANK YOU FOR ANSWERING AND COMPLETING THOSE WORK ORDERS AND JUST KEEP THEM BEING COMPLETED. THANK YOU SO MUCH.
THANK YOU, MA'AM. MOVING ON FOR OUR 6 A
[VI. AHI Facility Services Custodial Transition Weekly Update]
HI FACILITY SERVICES CUSTODIAL TRANSITION WEEKLY UPDATE.IT'S ME AGAIN. HELLO, EVERYBODY.
CHAIRPERSON GRIFFIN, FACILITY COMMITTEE MEMBERS, TRUSTEES, DR.
WHAT WE'RE GOING TO DO NOW, I'VE COVERED THIS WITH YOU LAST MONTH AND THAT'S THE FACT THAT WE'RE DOING A TRANSITION BETWEEN OUR CURRENT CUSTODIAL PROVIDER, WHICH IS ABM SERVICES OVER TO AHI FACILITY SERVICES.
SO I'VE DONE A SLIDE PRESENTATION AND WE'LL SEE THIS ONE HOPEFULLY MONTHLY TO KEEP YOU UPDATED, WHICH IS WHAT YOU HAD ASKED THAT WE KIND OF BEGIN TO DO FOR YOU.
THIS SLIDE YOU ASKED ME TO PUT THIS ONE IN LAST MONTH.
[00:10:03]
WHAT WILL AHI BE CLEANING? HERE'S ALL OUR HIGH SCHOOLS LISTED.HERE'S ALL OUR MIDDLE SCHOOLS AND OUR OTHER FACILITIES THAT ARE LISTED THAT WILL BE UNDER THEIR JURISDICTION THAT STARTS ON JUNE THE 1ST OF THIS YEAR.
SO WE'RE IN THAT PERIOD RIGHT NOW OF CONVERTING OVER.
ALL RIGHT. EMPLOYEE INTERVIEWS, BIG TOPIC THAT HAD COME UP IN THE PAST WHERE YOU WERE ASKING ABOUT THE STABILITY OF EMPLOYMENT FOR THE PEOPLE THAT ARE CURRENTLY WITH ABM, WE'VE ACTUALLY I SENT OUT A NOTICE TODAY TO ABM THAT WE'RE GOING TO BEGIN THE INTERVIEW PROCESSES. WE WILL ACTUALLY START TOMORROW WITH OUR CORE BUILDINGS, THE FOUR BUILDINGS THAT WERE NOT SCHOOLS.
THEN WE START NEXT WEEK, WHICH IS SPRING BREAK, AND IT'S GOT THE SCHEDULE ON THERE FOR YOU SO THAT YOU CAN SEE MONDAY, TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY EACH AFTERNOON, THREE TO SEVEN AND THEN WEDNESDAY FROM EIGHT TO THREE.
WE TOOK A HIGH SCHOOL LOCATION AND THE FEEDER SCHOOLS FOR THAT HIGH SCHOOL, AND WE'RE TRYING TO GET ALL THOSE PEOPLE THAT GO TO THAT PARTICULAR CAMPUS AND THEY'LL DO THOSE INTERVIEWS DURING THAT TIME FRAME.
? THEY'LL BE THROUGH WITH THEIR SHIFT SO THEY DON'T HAVE TO PUNCH OUT FROM WHAT THEY'RE DOING? IT DOESN'T INTERFERE WITH THEIR SCHEDULES.
WHEN I TALK TO ABM TODAY, THEY WERE GOOD WITH WHAT WE HAD PUBLISHED AND THERE SHOULDN'T BE ANY CONFLICT OF INTEREST ON THAT.
UNIFORMS THE DAY CUSTODIANS WILL WEAR NAVY BLUE POLO SHIRTS, BLACK PANTS, AND AN APRON OR SMOCK IF THEY WANT TO, WHICH WILL ALSO BE BLUE.
THE NIGHT CUSTODIANS WEAR ROYAL BLUE T-SHIRTS, JEANS, AN EMBROIDERED HAT, IF THEY SO CHOOSE AND AN APRON OR SMOCK, THAT WOULD ALSO BE BLUE.
AND PLEASE NOTICE THAT ALL OF THEIR STUFF WILL BE EMBROIDERED.
I JUST THINK IT HAS A CLEANER, MORE PROFESSIONAL LOOK ABOUT IT IN THAT WAY.
IT ALWAYS STAYS ON THE SHIRT RATHER THAN WASHING OFF.
COVID SPRAYING, WHICH IS A HUGE, HUGE THING FOR GARLAND ISD, WE WILL CONTINUE DOING COVID SPRAYING, I WILL FURNISH THE CHEMICALS AND THE EQUIPMENT, AND THEY'LL DO THE ACTIVITY ON A NIGHTLY BASIS.
DOESN'T CHANGE WHAT WE'RE CURRENTLY USED TO.
WELL, YOU PROBABLY DON'T SEE IT BECAUSE IT HAPPENS AFTER EVERYBODY'S OUT OF THE SCHOOL.
THE LAST THING THAT WE DO BEFORE WE CLOSE THE CAMPUS AT NIGHT.
WALK THROUGHS ARE CRITICAL FOR AHI TO GAIN AN UNDERSTANDING OF THE EQUIPMENT AND THE PERSONNEL THAT'S GOING TO BE NECESSARY TO MAINTAIN OUR BUILDINGS.
WE ACTUALLY HAVE STARTED THEM ALREADY AND THEY'RE TRYING TO DO A HIGH SCHOOL AND A COUPLE OF MIDDLE SCHOOLS ON A DAILY BASIS.
AND THAT IS A PROCESS THAT WILL PROBABLY GO ON FOR THE REST OF THIS MONTH SO THAT THEY CAN DETERMINE ALL THE THINGS.
AND I'LL LET THE PRESIDENT OF THE COMPANY TALK TO YOU ABOUT THAT IN JUST A MOMENT WHEN HE EXPLAINS WHERE THEY'RE AT AND WHAT THEY DO.
OK, ANY COMMENTS OR QUESTION ABOUT THE TRANSITION THAT WE HAVE GOING? TRUSTEES.
ON THE WHAT YOU SAID, AHI WILL FURNISH EQUIPMENT AND CHEMICALS.
IS THAT GOING TO BE THE EXACT CHEMICALS THAT WE USED PREVIOUSLY OR IS THAT GOING TO HAVE SOMETHING NEW? AND SINCE IT'S THE SAME CHEMICALS THAT WE'RE DOING FOR OUR PART? LET ME ANSWER YOUR QUESTION THIS WAY.
DR. LOPEZ HAD ASKED THAT WE TRY TO STANDARDIZE EVERYTHING.
ALL RIGHT. THEY ARE GOING TO USE THE BUCKEYE CHEMICALS, WHICH WE USE CURRENTLY IN OUR ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS.
ABM CURRENTLY USES A PRODUCT CALLED DIVERSEY, WHICH COMES FROM JOHNSON AND JOHNSON.
BUT WE'RE GOING TO GO TO EVERYTHING WILL BE THE SAME WITHIN THE DISTRICT AND THE SPRAYING CHEMICAL, I'LL LET TODD ADDRESS THAT IN JUST A MOMENT IF THAT'S OK WITH YOU? AND HE CAN EXPLAIN TO YOU ANY PARTICULAR, THAT MIGHT BE A LITTLE DIFFERENT.
IT'S A QUAD, JUST LIKE WE USE.
IT MAY NOT BE THE EXACT SAME CHEMICAL, BUT HAS THE SAME KILLING POWER.
I GUESS MY QUESTION IF IT'S GOING TO BE DIFFERENT, IS SOME OF THE KIDS WHO MAY HAVE ALLERGIES, SURE, AND GOT USED TO WHAT ABM WAS DOING.
YES, SIR. HAVE WE DECIDED HOW THAT MIGHT WORK? BECAUSE THAT MAY BE DIFFERENT.
OK, I'M GOING TO LET HIM ANSWER THAT ONE IF THAT'S OK WITH YOU, SIR.
OK, THANK YOU, MS. GRIFFIN. OK, WE'LL GET BACK TO THAT.
MR. JOHNSON. MY QUESTION IS PRETTY SIMPLE, WHEN YOU SAY THE CULWELL CENTER THAT AHI IS GOING TO BE HANDLING IT, ARE THEY GOING TO BE HANDLING THE EVENTS AS WELL? YES, SIR. OK.
IN FACT, IF I MAY EXTRAPOLATE A LITTLE BIT ON THAT ONE? WE MET WITH THE MANAGER OVER THERE LAST FRIDAY WITH JOHN, MR. WILBURN AND WENT THROUGH THE HOW WE'RE GOING TO DO THE INTERVIEW PROCESS FOR HIS GROUP BECAUSE IT'S A LITTLE BIT DIFFERENT HOW WE'RE GOING TO HANDLE THE ACTUAL EVENTS, THE THINGS THAT ARE GOING TO BE TAKEN CARE OF IN ADVANCE, THE SCHEDULES AND EVERYTHING.
SO THERE SHOULDN'T BE ANY DISRUPTION OF SERVICE.
THEY'VE ALREADY GOT COPIES OF THE SCHEDULES FOR JUNE.
AND LIKE I SAID, THE OTHER CONTRACT EXPIRES ON MAY 31ST.
THEIR CONTRACT WILL START ON JUNE THE 1ST, AND WE'RE HOPING THAT THROUGH THE INTERVIEW PROCESS WE'LL HAVE THE MAJORITY OF THE SAME PEOPLE WILL BE WORKING FOR AHI THAT ARE
[00:15:03]
CURRENTLY WITH ABM.AND THAT'S WHAT WE'RE SEEING RIGHT NOW.
THERE'S REALLY, REALLY GREAT RESPONSE SO FAR.
OK. ANY MORE QUESTIONS, TRUSTEES? OK, MR. BEACH, YOU'RE STILL UP? [LAUGHTER] SO WE'RE GOING TO MOVE ON TO AGENDA ITEM SEVEN UNDER INFORMATION ITEM, WE'RE
[VII.A. Information Item]
GOING TO DO NUMBER ONE, RECEIVE UPDATE ON FULL SERVICE, CUSTODIAL AND RELATED SERVICES.ALL RIGHT, LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, WHAT I'D LIKE TO DO IS INTRODUCE THE PRESIDENT OF AHI CORPORATION TO COME UP AND ACTUALLY DO THIS PARTICULAR PRESENTATION, AND HE COULD PROBABLY ANSWER ANY OF THE QUESTIONS THAT I COULDN'T JUST A MOMENT AGO.
WELCOME. THANK YOU FOR BEING HERE.
THANKS FOR HAVING ME. I APPRECIATE IT.
MY NAME'S TODD HADDOCK. I'M THE PRESIDENT OF AHI FACILITY SERVICES LOCATED HERE IN DALLAS, TEXAS. LET'S GIVE YOU A LITTLE BACKGROUND ABOUT US.
WE HAVE BEEN IN BUSINESS FOR FIFTY THREE YEARS WE'RE A ONE HUNDRED PERCENT WOMAN OWNED BUSINESS TRACI HAWS IS OUR OWNER, CEO AND THEN I'M THE PRESIDENT, AS I MENTIONED EARLIER.
WE SPECIALIZE IN K THROUGH 12 SCHOOLS, PROSPER ISD, PARIS ISD, TO NAME A FEW.
SOME UNIVERSITIES, ALL OF UT DALLAS, UT ARLINGTON.
I WON'T BORE YOU WITH ALL THE NAMES OF THEM.
THEN WE DO A LOT OF CORPORATE HEADQUARTERS.
DR. PEPPER HEADQUARTERS, ERICSSON HEADQUARTERS, ALL OF TI THROUGHOUT TEXAS FOR THE LAST 12 YEARS. ALL OF RAYTHEON FOR THE LAST 11 YEARS, JUST TO NAME A FEW.
HERE'S JUST SOME OF THE NAMES OF THE SCHOOLS AND SOME OF THE CLASS A FACILITIES THAT WE DO. WE ALSO DO MANUFACTURING FACILITIES, TYSON CHICKEN PLANTS THROUGHOUT TEXAS AND ARKANSAS. WE ARE CIMS CERTIFIED.
THEY WERE TALKING EARLIER ABOUT CERTIFICATIONS, THAT'S SOMETHING THAT'S BIG WITH US.
WE WERE THE FIRST BUILDING SERVICE CONTRACTOR IN 2010 TO RECEIVE CIMS. IT'S A OUTSIDE AGENCY THAT COMES IN AND AUDITS EVERYTHING FROM JANITORIAL CLOSETS TO MSDS SHEETS TO THE PROPER CHEMICALS, EQUIPMENT, MAKING SURE EVERYTHING IS GREEN, SEALED, CERTIFIED. THEY COME EVERY TWO YEARS.
THEY INTERVIEW OUR EMPLOYEES AND INTERVIEW OUR CUSTOMERS.
THEY GO THROUGH OUR ACCOUNTING, PAYROLL, HR PRACTICES, AND IT'S LITERALLY IT'S NOT A GRADE, IT'S A PASS OR FAIL.
AND SO WE JUST RECEIVED THAT AGAIN IN 2021.
IF YOU WANT TO LEARN A LITTLE BIT MORE ABOUT CIMS AND THAT CERTIFICATION, HOW STRICT IT IS. I WOULD ADVISE YOU TO JUST GO TO ISSA.COM AND IT CAN TELL YOU A LOT DETAIL OF HOW THAT HAPPENS. HERE ARE SOME OF THE BREAKDOWN ON SOME OF THE QUESTIONS YOU MIGHT HAVE.
WE HAVE ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY ONE FULL TIME DEVOTED EMPLOYEES TO THIS ACCOUNT.
OUR PRICE RANGE WILL BE AT THE LOW END 10 DOLLARS AND 80 CENTS, UP TO $13.75 FOR GENERAL CLEANERS. ALL AHI FULL SERVICE FULL TIME EMPLOYEES WILL GET THE SEVEN PAID HOLIDAYS AND VACATION. WE DO NOT SUBCONTRACT.
ALL OF OUR EMPLOYEES ARE DIRECT HIRE, BACKGROUND, I-9 VERIFICATION AND DRUG SCREENING BEFORE THEY START EMPLOYMENT WITH US.
YOU HAVE A QUESTION? YEAH. CHEMICALS, SO GREAT QUESTION.
WE ARE GOING TO START OUT USING WHAT YOU CURRENTLY HAVE.
I HAVE SENT JIMMY ANOTHER PRODUCT TO CONSIDER FOR SPRAYING.
IT'S A CATEGORY FOUR, SO IT'S NONTOXIC, NON FLAMMABLE.
YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT KIDS WITH ALLERGIES.
THERE'S NO SMELL TO IT, AND IT'S GOT 24 HOUR KILL TIMES, WHICH IS VERY IMPORTANT AND ESPECIALLY WITH COVID.
WE'VE BEEN USING IT FOR ABOUT EIGHT YEARS.
AND THEN WHEN COVID HIT, IT WAS SOMETHING THAT EVEN KEURIG PLANTS THAT MAKE COFFEE, THEY NOW USE THAT IN ALL THEIR PLANTS THROUGHOUT THE U.S.
AND CANADA. IT'S A REALLY GOOD PRODUCT, BUT WE WILL NOT MAKE ANY CHANGES UNTIL WE GET WITH JIMMY AND PAUL AND THEIR TEAM TO LOOK AT THAT.
BUT WE'RE GOING TO STAY WITH WHAT YOU CURRENTLY HAVE.
YES, SIR. MR. BEACH. YEAH, MR. HADDOCK, I WAS CURIOUS TO GO KIND OF BACK INTO WHAT MY BROTHER WAS TALKING ABOUT EARLIER ABOUT EMPLOYEE INTERVIEWS.
ARE YOU GOING TO BE ABLE TO HAVE ON LIKE WEDNESDAY, MARCH 16TH FROM 8:00 TO 3:00 YOUR STAFF WILL BE AT EACH ONE OF THOSE CAMPUSES DOING THOSE INTERVIEWS.
IN OTHER WORDS, YOU'VE GOT ENOUGH PERSONNEL.
YEAH EXACTLY. TO BE INTERVIEWING THE NUMBER OF PEOPLE THAT ARE PROBABLY COMING THROUGH ON THOSE INTERVIEWS.
YEAH, WE DO. AND WE'VE HAD A LOT OF CURRENT EMPLOYEES OF ABM ALREADY CONTACT US.
THEY'VE CALLED OUR OFFICE AND WE'VE ALREADY STARTED HIRING A LOT OF THE PEOPLE, GETTING THEM ENROLLED, GOING THROUGH THE PROCESS.
BUT WHEN WE DO THOSE, WE CALL THEM JOB FAIRS.
[00:20:02]
WE'LL HAVE PLENTY OF OUR FOLKS FROM THE HR DEPARTMENT AND OTHER MANAGERS THAT RUN OTHER FACILITIES WILL BE DOING THE ONBOARDING DURING THOSE TIME PERIODS.ARE YOU GETTING A GOOD RECEPTION AS FAR AS IN THE INTERVIEW PROCESS? I KNOW THAT YOU HAD MENTIONED PRIOR TO THIS THAT WHEN THE VACATION TIMES COME, IF THEY WANTED TO DO SOMETHING ELSE WITHIN YOUR ORGANIZATION THAT YOU WOULD LET THEM HONOR THAT TO GO AND CONTINUE TO MAKE EXTRA MONEY IF THEY NEED TO.
ABSOLUTELY. YEAH, WE WILL DO THAT AND WE HAVE STARTED WITH SOME OF THE TOP LEVEL SUPERVISORS AND UP.
WE'RE GETTING VERY GOOD RESPONSE EVEN THERE AS WELL.
YES, SIR. MR. BEACH, JOHNNY, WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY? ARE WE GOING TO HONOR WHAT? IN THE EARLIER REPORT THAT WE GOT A MONTH AGO ABOUT AHI, MR. HADDOCK HAD MENTIONED TO US THAT THEY WOULD ALSO DURING THE TIME WHEN THEY HAD VACATION, THE PAID VACATION, IF THE EMPLOYEES NEEDED TO MAKE EXTRA INCOME, THEY HAVE OTHER SOURCES WHERE THEY CAN WORK THEM.
IN THESE COMPANIES THAT YOU SAW ON THESE PAGES BACK HERE, THEY WOULD BE ABLE TO GO AND WORK AND THEY'RE STILL UNDER THE, IN OTHER WORDS, THEY STILL CAN EARN EXTRA INCOME.
YEAH, BUT MAYBE I'LL HELP CLEAR THAT UP A LITTLE BIT.
SO I ALSO HAVE A LANDSCAPE DIVISION, A WINDOW WASHING DIVISION, AND A RESTORATION DIVISION, THAT ARE ALL AHI.
SO AS AN EXAMPLE, WE DON'T LAY ANYBODY OFF LIKE ON THE LANDSCAPE DIVISION DURING THE WINTER MONTHS, LIKE A LOT OF LANDSCAPE COMPANIES DO, WE PUT THEM TO WORK INSIDE BUILDINGS OR THEY CAN GO TO THE WINDOW WASHING DIVISION AND THEN IF PEOPLE WANT EXTRA HOURS WITH US ON THE WEEKENDS, EVEN THOUGH THEY'RE FULL TIME EMPLOYEES AT GARLAND, IF THEY CAN GO TO THEIR DIRECT SUPERVISOR, IF THEY NEED TO MAKE EXTRA MONEY, WHETHER IT'S FOR A VACATION, WHETHER IT'S CHRISTMAS TIME.
WE HAVE SO MUCH WORK THAT WE WILL PUT THEM TO WORK TO MAKE EXTRA MONEY.
ALL WITHIN MY ORGANIZATION. YOUR ORGANIZATION? YES. THAT MAKES IT REASONABLE THAT YOU DON'T HAVE TO SUBCONTRACT.
THAT'S CORRECT. BECAUSE YOU'VE GOT PLENTY OF PEOPLE THERE SO.
TRUSTEES, ANY MORE QUESTIONS? ALL RIGHT, THANK YOU AGAIN.
THANK Y'ALL VERY MUCH, APPRECIATE IT. THANK YOU FOR BEING HERE, AND WE LOOK FORWARD FOR A GREAT PARTNERSHIP. YES SO DO WE.
ABSOLUTELY. AND HEALTHY BUILDINGS.
AND HEALTHY BUILDINGS. THANK YOU.
THANK YOU. JUST A QUICK FOLLOW UP.
I ACTUALLY GOT THE OPPORTUNITY TO GO OUT AND VIEW THEIR FACILITIES THIS LAST WEEK AND I MET THE PEOPLE, THE STAFFS, THE EQUIPMENT THE WAY THEY HAVE IT LAID OUT AND THE WAY THEY'RE GOING TO SERVICE US AND PROVIDE US THIS TRANSITION I THINK WE'RE GOING TO GO THROUGH IT WITH FLYING COLORS.
WE'RE GOING TO DO A GREAT JOB AND I LOOK FORWARD TO WORKING WITH THEM.
THANK YOU. THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH.
[VII.B. Action Item]
TRUSTEES, WE'RE GOING TO MOVE TO ITEM B, WHICH IS THE ACTION ITEM THAT WE WILL TAKE FOURTH TO THE UPCOMING BOARD MEETING.MR. PAUL GONZALES WILL COME AND EXPLAIN THE SERVICES THAT WE ARE PURCHASING.
AGAIN, GOOD AFTERNOON, TRUSTEE GRIFFIN, BOARD OF TRUSTEES BACK IN FRONT OF YOU AGAIN TO CONSIDER APPROVAL OF PROFESSIONAL SERVICES FOR ESSER PROJECTS.
THIS IS A ONE YEAR WITH FOUR ANNUAL RENEWALS, BUT I WANT TO MAKE IT CLEAR THIS IS ONLY A ONE TIME. AS OF RIGHT NOW, IT'S ONLY A ONE TIME CONTRACT FOR THE ESSER 2 PROJECTS THAT WERE PRESENTED TO DR.
RINGO AND THE ADMINISTRATION AS THE ESSER 2 THAT YOU AS A BOARD HAVE REVIEWED AND APPROVED UNDER ESSER 2.
SO BASICALLY, THIS IS THE RECOMMENDATION TO REQUEST QUALIFICATIONS 360-22 FOR PROFESSIONAL SERVICES ESSER PROJECTS FOR THE DISTRICT.
THESE ARE ENGINEERING AND ARCHITECTURE FIRMS. WE'VE IDENTIFIED MCCARTHY ARCHITECTURE INCORPORATED AND EMA ENGINEERING AS OUR PRIMARY.
SECONDARY WOULD BE ORCUTT WINSLOW, DBR ENGINEERING CONSULTANTS, REED AND WELLS BENSONS, ALSO KNOWN AS OUR RWB CONSULTING ENGINEER AND HKS.
THIS WOULD BE FUNDED THROUGH GENERAL FUNDS 20 PERCENT ESSER 2 OR CRRSA 281 80 PERCENT. THOSE ARE THE PROJECTS THAT WOULD BE FUNDED OUT OF HERE.
TO GIVE YOU A LITTLE BIT MORE INFORMATION ON THE PROJECTS, THE PROJECTS THAT HAVE BEEN APPROVED OF UNDER ESSER 2 ARE NORTH GARLAND HIGH SCHOOL.
THE GYMNASIUM HAS ROOFTOP UNITS THAT HAVE LIVED OUT THEIR LIFE CYCLE.
[00:25:02]
THE AIR QUALITY IN THOSE GYMS ARE VERY POOR.THERE WAS CERTAIN CRITERIA THAT WE HAD TO MEET UNDER ESSER FOR IT TO BE A TEA APPROVED PROJECT. THOSE HAVE BEEN WORKING WITH OUR GRANTS DEPARTMENT AND OUR ADMINISTRATION THAT THAT PROJECT HAS BEEN APPROVED.
THE OTHER PROJECT THAT WAS SLATED WAS ALSO NORTH GARLAND AND SOUTH GARLAND HIGH SCHOOL GYMNASIUM. AGAIN, POOR AIR QUALITY IN THOSE GYMNASIUM, HIGH HUMIDITY AND THOSE UNITS ARE ALSO GETTING REPLACED.
AND THEN THE LAST PROJECT THAT WE'VE IDENTIFIED IS THE TRIPLE C.
AS YOU KNOW, WE GET LARGE GROUPS IN THE TRIPLE C, LARGE ARENA ACTIVITIES, A LOT OF PEOPLE, YOU KNOW, COMPRESSED IN THOSE AREAS, THOSE MEETING ROOMS AND SO FORTH.
SO WE'RE GOING BACK AS STATED IN A LOT OF THE RECOMMENDATIONS THAT CAME CAME OUT DURING COVID. WE'RE GOING TO LOOK AT OUR FRESH AIR INTAKE AND WE'RE GOING TO RECALIBRATE.
WE'RE GOING TO DO A RE-ENGINEERING OF A LOT OF THAT EQUIPMENT.
AND THAT'S ANOTHER PROJECT THAT WE'VE IDENTIFIED THAT MET THE CRITERIA SET BY TEA.
SO THOSE ARE THE THREE PROJECTS THAT WE ARE CURRENTLY LOOKING AT UNDER ESSER 2.
AND AGAIN, THOSE ARE THE ONLY PROJECTS THAT WE'RE WORKING ON.
DO YOU HAVE A COST? YES. ON THOSE? YES. YOU CAN GIVE US A TOTAL.
SO ESTIMATED COST FOR ALL THE PROJECTS ARE A LITTLE UNDER A MILLION DOLLARS.
THAT IS ENGINEERING SERVICES AND THE EQUIPMENT PURCHASE OF EQUIPMENT FOR NORTH AND SOUTH.
OK, THANK YOU. TRUSTEES ANY QUESTIONS? MS. STANLEY. SO WHAT YOU'RE ASKING FOR TODAY IS JUST FOR THE ENGINEERING COSTS, SO YOU'LL BE COMING BACK TO US WITH THE REST OF THE COSTS? GREAT QUESTION.
YES. TODAY I'M HERE TO REQUEST THE APPROVAL OF THE ENGINEERING.
ONCE THE ENGINEER IDENTIFIES THE SPECIFICATIONS IN THE DRAWINGS, THEN I WILL BE ORDERING MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT, AND I'LL BE BRINGING THAT BACK TO YOU ALL FOR APPROVAL.
AND THAT'LL BE COMING FROM THE ESSER 2 FUNDS AS WELL? THAT WOULD BE COMING FROM THE ESSER FUNDS.
THANK YOU. ANY OTHER QUESTIONS? OK, THANK YOU SO MUCH.
THANK YOU. TRUSTEES, IT IS NOW 3:29.
WE WILL BE MOVING THIS ACTION ITEM FORWARD FOR THE UPCOMING BOARD MEETING.
DR. LOPEZ, IS THERE A REASON FOR AN EXECUTIVE SESSION? NO, MA'AM. WITH THAT?
[IX. Adjournment]
CAN I HAVE A MOTION TO ADJOURN OR I CAN ADJOURN THE MEETING? SO MOVE, WE ARE ADJOURNED.THANK YOU.
