GOOD AFTERNOON AND WELCOME TO THE FACILITIES COMMITTEE FOR TUESDAY, JUNE THE 14TH OF 2022.

[I. Call to Order and Determination of Quorum]

[00:00:10]

THE COMMITTEE MEMBERS ARE PRESENT ALONG WITH THE OTHER BOARD MEMBERS.

AT THIS TIME I WOULD LIKE TO CALL THE MEETING TO ORDER AND HAVE DETERMINED THAT WE DO HAVE A QUORUM PRESENT TO PROCEED.

NUMBER TWO PUBLIC FORUMS. MS. HOGAN, DO WE HAVE ANY CARDS? SO HAVING NO CARDS OKAY.

WE WILL MOVE TO NUMBER THREE SUPERINTENDENT'S MESSAGE.

[III. Superintendent's Message]

THANK YOU, CHAIRPERSON GRIFFIN JUST WANT TO SAY THANK YOU TO THE ENTIRE GRADUATION TEAM THAT PUT TOGETHER EIGHT STELLAR GRADUATIONS.

I DO WANT TO I WANT TO PUBLICLY STATE THAT THE PREPARATION THAT GOES BEHIND EACH AND EACH AND INDIVIDUAL GRADUATION IS INTENSE.

THERE ARE SO MANY LOGISTICS THAT HAPPEN.

AND WHEN YOU'RE DEALING WITH KIDS, ANYTHING CAN GO LEFT OR RIGHT.

AND IT COULD BE SOMETHING AS SMALL AS GETTING OUT OF PLACE IN LINE, YOU KNOW, AND ALL THOSE THINGS MATTER TO US.

THANKS FOR THE PARENTS.

THE ENERGY WAS GREAT.

WE'RE NOW IN THE SUMMER SEASON AND A BIG THANK YOU TO THE CCC AND JOHN WILBORN AND THE CALDWELL CENTER, WHO ALWAYS DO A MAGNIFICENT JOB.

SO WE ARE NOW BEGINNING OUR SUMMER SEASON.

OH, AND I JUST WANTED TO SAY, BECAUSE WE'RE IN SUMMER SEASON, WE'RE ON THE FOUR DAY WORKWEEKS.

THIS HELPS CONSERVE ENERGY AND ESPECIALLY DURING THIS REALLY, REALLY HOT SEASON THAT WE'RE EXPERIENCING.

IT ALLOWS US NOT TO HAVE TO FULLY FUNCTION OUR BUILDINGS FROM FRIDAYS THROUGH SUNDAYS.

SO COULD YOU REMIND US OF THAT FOUR HOUR WORKWEEK TIME? THE 40 HOUR WORKWEEK TIME GENERALLY STARTS AT 7:30 AND ENDS AT 5:00.

WHAT WE DO IS WE GO MONDAY THROUGH THURSDAY FULL THROTTLE AND THEN TRADITIONAL EMPLOYEES HAVE FRIDAY OFF.

THERE'S A FEW EXCEPTIONS TO THE RULE, BUT TRADITIONALLY THAT WE'RE ALLOWED TO CLOSE, SHUT DOWN BUILDINGS, LET THEM RECOVER AND NOT HAVE TO COOL OR ANY OF OUR BUILDINGS AS COOL AS WE HAVE THEM WHEN THEY'RE RUNNING WITH PEOPLE IN THEM.

THANK YOU, SUPERINTENDENT LOPEZ.

WE'RE NOW READY TO MOVE TO ITEM FOUR MAINTENANCE AND OPERATION WORK ORDER UPDATE NOVEMBER 2021 TO APRIL 2022 MR.

[IV. Maintenance and Operations Work Order Update November 2021-April 2022 – Jimmy Beach]

JIMMY BEACH. AND WE'RE ON PAGES THREE THROUGH EIGHT AND THERE IS AN INSERT THAT YOU FOUND AT THE, AT THE FRONT OF YOUR BOOKLET.

MR. BEACH THANK YOU, MA'AM.

CHAIRPERSON GRIFFIN FACILITY COMMITTEE MEMBERS.

PRESIDENT JOHNSON.

SUPERINTENDENT LOPEZ, THANK YOU FOR LETTING ME COME TODAY AND PRESENT TO YOU THE MAINTENANCE AND OPERATION WORK ORDER UPDATE.

TODAY'S REPORTS CAN BE A LITTLE BIT DIFFERENT THAN YOU'RE USED TO WE NORMALLY WE DO THREE MONTHS, BUT TO CATCH IT UP AND MAKE IT MORE CURRENT WITH THE CURRENT CALENDAR, WE'RE DOING A SIX MONTH REPORT TONIGHT, SO IT ACTUALLY GOES FROM NOVEMBER OF 2021 THROUGH APRIL OF 2022.

THE FIRST SLIDE I HAVE UP IS THE MAINTENANCE SEMIANNUAL ACTIVITY.

THIS SHOWS YOU THE TRENDS THAT WE HAVE AS FAR AS A MONTHLY COMPARISON AND A TOTAL FOR REQUESTED VERSUS COMPLETED WORK ORDERS.

THE ONE THING THAT I HIGHLIGHT WITH IT IS IF YOU LOOK AT THE MONTH OF APRIL, YOU CAN SEE OUR UPWARD SWING.

WE'RE BEGINNING TO GET BACK INTO FOCUS WHERE WE CAN DO MORE OF OUR PM TYPE WORK ORDERS, WHICH KEEPS OUR COUNTS HIGHER AND HELPS US ACTUALLY POLICE THE SCHOOLS AND TRY TO CATCH PROBLEMS BEFORE THEY COME OUT.

WE'RE OVERALL FOR THE SIX MONTH PERIOD, WE WERE DOWN 8.3% ON REQUEST AND DOWN 13% ON COMPLETED.

BUT HERE AGAIN, IF YOU LOOK AT THE COMPARISON OF 2021 AND 22, THE TOTAL WORK ORDERS THAT WERE REQUESTED WAS 20,464 [INAUDIBLE]. AND THEN THE ACTUAL COMPLETED WAS 19,492.

SO WE HAD REAL GOOD ACTIVITY.

WE'RE BEGINNING TO GET A LOT OF THINGS DONE.

WE DO GET CALLED OFF FROM TIME TO TIME.

AND HERE AGAIN, WE'RE DEALING WITH STAFFING SHORTAGES IN JUST ABOUT EVERY DEPARTMENT.

SO THAT HAS A BIG, BIG BEARING ON HOW MANY WE CAN DO.

ALL RIGHT. PM VERSUS ROUTINE MAINTENANCE HERE.

AGAIN, THE SAME SIX MONTH COMPARISON.

IF YOU LOOK AT THE PREVIOUS YEAR, WE HAD 74% ROUTINE VERSUS THIS YEAR WHERE 70, 75% ARE CURRENT.

AND THEN YOU HAVE THE PM SCHEDULE FOR THE PREVIOUS YEAR AT 25.7%, THIS YEAR IT'S 24.7%.

[00:05:02]

SO WE'VE ACTUALLY IMPROVED ON OUR COMPLETIONS AND DROPPED DOWN THE PERCENTAGE.

ON OUR OWN TIME COMPLETION RATE.

WE TRY TO SHOOT FOR 75%.

THAT'S PRETTY MUCH STANDARD IN K 12.

YOU CAN LOOK AT OUR OWN TIME PERCENTAGE OF HANDLING WORK ORDERS IN SEVEN DAYS OR LESS IS 78%.

SO WE HAVE A REAL HIGH CLOSURE RATE 22% ARE GOING PAST NINE TIMES OUT OF TEN.

AND THIS IS GOING TO BE AN ONGOING TREND AS WE GO INTO SOME REALLY TOUGH ECONOMIC TIMES.

IT'S TRYING TO PROCURE PARTS.

SO ESPECIALLY WITH AIR CONDITIONING, IT'S REALLY DIFFICULT TO GET THE THINGS THAT WE NEED IN A TIMELY FASHION SO THAT WE CAN COMPLETE REPAIRS AS NEEDED.

THE NEXT SLIDE IS THE EMERGENCY VERSUS ROUTINE MAINTENANCE NETWORK ORDERS.

I DO THIS TO HIGHLIGHT TOO SO YOU SO YOU CAN SEE WHICH DEPARTMENTS GET THE MOST CORES.

AND BY FAR THE ONE THAT ALWAYS LEADS THE PACK IS OUR PLUMBING GROUP.

NOW I WANT TO THROW OUT ONE ACCOLADE FOR MY PLUMBING GROUP.

WE HAD TWO PLUMBERS WHO WERE JOURNEYMAN, AND THEY RECENTLY ATTENDED TWO REVIEW SESSIONS FOR MASTER'S TESTING, WENT TO AUSTIN AND BOTH TESTED A WEEK AGO TUESDAY AND BOTH PASSED.

SO THEY'RE BOTH MASTER PLUMBERS NOW, WHICH IS REALLY AN ACCOMPLISHMENT FOR BOTH OF THEM.

THEY DID A REALLY GOOD JOB.

BUT YOU CAN SEE WE GET AN AWFUL LOT OF PLUMBING CAUSE WE HAVE SOME OLDER LINES THAT NEED TO BE REPLACED.

IT WILL BE ADDRESSED IN THE NEXT BOND, HOPEFULLY, AND WE CAN GET SOME OF THAT STUFF TAKEN CARE OF.

WE DID HAVE ONE ISSUE SPENT ABOUT A YEAR AGO WITH TOILET PAPER, BUT WE HAD SOME TOILET PAPER WE BOUGHT THAT WAS LOW BID.

YOU COULD STRETCH THAT STUFF FROM HERE TO KINGDOM COME AND IT WOULDN'T TEAR OR BREAK OR IT WOULDN'T BIODEGRADABLE LIKE IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE.

SO WE'D GO AND STOP AND THAT'S WHAT WE HAD.

SO ANYWAY, WE GOT RID OF ALL OF THAT.

OKAY. AND THAT'S IT.

ARE THERE ANY COMMENTS OR QUESTIONS ANYONE WOULD LIKE TO ASK? COMMITTEE MEMBERS, ANY QUESTIONS? BOARD MEMBERS, ANY QUESTIONS? THANK YOU SO MUCH.

THANK YOU. MR. GRIFFITH. PLEASE SHARE WITH YOUR TWO MASTER PLUMBERS CONGRATULATIONS ON BEHALF.

THANK YOU, MA'AM. AND MS. GRIFFIN THE HANDOUT.

YES. IN RELATION TO THIS, MR. GONZALEZ WILL SPEAK TO IT ON THIS PORTION OF THE AGENDA.

GOOD AFTERNOON. TRUSTEES.

IT SAYS FACILITIES AND MAINTENANCE 2022 SUMMER PROJECTS ONE SHEET.

GOOD AFTERNOON. CHAIR FACILITIES CHAIR MS. GRIFFIN. PRESIDENT WEST JOHNSON, BOARD OF TRUSTEES.

DR. LOPEZ, GREAT TO BE HERE THIS AFTERNOON.

IN YOUR IN YOUR PACKET, YOU SEE THAT WE HAVE SEVERAL WE HAVE ABOUT 22 PROJECTS GOING ON THIS SUMMER INFACILITIES PLANNING AND CONSTRUCTION, HVAC BUILDING TRADES AND MAINTENANCE GROUNDS DEPARTMENT.

THOSE ARE THE ONES THAT ARE REALLY DOING MAJOR PROJECTS THIS SUMMER.

ONE OF THE PROJECTS THAT WE ALSO ARE WORKING ON THAT DIDN'T MAKE THIS LIST BECAUSE IT'S STILL IN NEGOTIATIONS OUR MIDDLE, MIDDLE SCHOOL AND HIGH SCHOOL FINE ARTS ACOUSTICS PROJECT. JAVIER IS WORKING WITH H.W.

AND PBK ON A CONTRACT.

THESE ARE TO ADDRESS FINE ARTS AND ACOUSTIC ISSUES THROUGHOUT THE DISTRICT, OR SOME SHORTFALLS THAT WE MAY HAVE TO IMPROVE ACOUSTICS.

IF THERE'S ANY QUESTIONS ABOUT THAT PARTICULAR PROJECT.

JAVIER FERNANDEZ CAN SPEAK MORE IN THE DETAIL, BUT WE'RE DEEPLY INVOLVED WITH THAT.

WE STARTED THIS BACK IN THE SPRING, WORKING WITH MR. FIGARELLI AND HIS GROUP, AND WE'RE MOVING FORWARD.

SO IF THERE'S ANY DETAILED QUESTIONS, YOU'LL HAVE MR. FERNANDEZ IS HERE THAT COULD ANSWER ANY OF THOSE QUESTIONS.

COMMITTEE MEMBERS. ANY QUESTIONS? BOARD MEMBERS. MR. GLICK. YES.

THIS IS ON THE ON THE LIST, SIR.

AND THEN I'LL HAVE ANOTHER QUESTION.

YES, SIR. LET'S SEE.

UNDER IT'S UNDER PEST CONTROL, WHICH IS UNDER THE LAST ONE MAINTENANCE GROUNDS.

YOU HAVE IT UNDER PEST CONTROL.

ALL SCHOOLS CURB APPEAL IN FRONT OF SCHOOLS.

WHAT DOES THAT HAVE TO DO WITH PEST CONTROL? THE REASON WHY IT'S UNDER PEST CONTROL IS THAT THAT SUPERVISOR HAS PROBABLY BEEN ASSIGNED TO ASSIST WITH THAT PROJECT.

AGAIN, WE ARE SHORT STAFFED RIGHT NOW AND THEY'VE JUST BEEN GIVEN OTHER TASKS TO MANAGE.

SO ONE OF THE THINGS I'VE TALKED ABOUT IS AND I DON'T THINK IT WOULD BE THAT COSTLY AND I COULD BE WRONG, IS TO HAVE SOME TYPE OF FLOWERS, PLANTS, COLOR IN FRONT OF OUR SCHOOLS.

[00:10:02]

A COUPLE OF SCHOOLS DO HAVE IT BECAUSE I WAS INVOLVED WITH A CAMPAIGN, I GOT TO VISIT AN AWFUL LOT OF SCHOOLS PUTTING OUT SIGNS, ESPECIALLY FOR ELECTION DAY.

AND SO MANY OF OUR SCHOOLS ARE ACTUALLY IN NEIGHBORHOODS.

THEY'RE ACTUALLY INTEGRAL WITH THE NEIGHBORHOOD.

THEY'RE NOT SEPARATE. YOU JUST PASS AND THERE'S THE SCHOOL.

AND I JUST THINK AND I DON'T KNOW, WE'VE NEVER COSTED IT OUT.

BUT TO PUT SOME FLOWER, SOME COLOR JUST A LITTLE BIT, MAYBE CHANGE IT OUT ONCE A YEAR, TWICE A YEAR, I DON'T THINK THAT WOULD BE THAT DIFFICULT.

I THINK IT WOULD INTEGRATE US WITH THE NEIGHBORHOODS.

I THINK THE NEIGHBORHOODS WOULD HAVE MORE PRIDE IN THE SCHOOL AND BE PART OF THE NEIGHBORHOOD CULTURALLY AND THE NEIGHBORHOOD SAYING, WE UNDERSTAND WE ARE WE ARE PART OF YOU AND YOU ARE PART OF US.

JUST SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT.

I KNOW IT'S SOME OF THE I, I, I TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU.

THE FLOWERS ESPECIALLY ARE VERY INVITING WHEN YOU WALK ON THE CAMPUS FROM THE CURB APPEAL.

SOME CAMPUSES HAVE HAVE FLOWER POTS AND WE CHANGE OUT THE COLORS IN THE FRONT.

WE DON'T REALLY PUT THEM IN THE GROUND BECAUSE THEY USUALLY DRY OUT PRETTY QUICK BECAUSE THEY'RE NOT IRRIGATED IN CERTAIN AREAS.

BUT YES, WE WILL LOOK INTO THAT AND I'LL SHARE WITH WHAT DR.

RINGO WHAT KIND OF THE COST WOULD BE.

AND WE'LL WE'LL GET BACK TO YOU WITH THAT.

ONE OF THE REASONS I PASS BY COYLE ALL THE TIME, THEY LIVE KIND OF AROUND THE CORNER FROM COYLE.

YES, SIR. AND THAT LITTLE ENTRANCEWAY JUST THERE, I MEAN, YOU WOULDN'T NEED A LOT, BUT IT WOULD SAY WE BELONG.

OKAY, SO THAT'S THANK YOU.

I HAVE A QUESTION. SO ON THE MANHOLES, SO MORE OR LESS ACCIDENTALLY, I DISCOVERED AT THE END OF LAST CALENDAR YEAR THAT WE HAD A PROBLEM IN MULTIPLE CAMPUSES AND WE SPOKE ABOUT IT.

SO AND I'VE NOW HEARD FROM SEVERAL DIFFERENT BAND DIRECTORS ON THAT ISSUE.

THEY WERE HOPING THAT THERE WOULD BE SUMMER PROJECTS BASED ON THIS LIST, I ASSUME NOT, AND BASED ON THE COMMENT.

SO WHERE IS THAT AT? AND COULD THEY GET SOME ASSURANCE THAT THESE THINGS WILL BE CORRECTED AND WHEN? THANK YOU. TRUSTEE GLICK TO THE MEMBERS OF THE COMMITTEE.

COMMITTEE CHAIR TRUSTEE GRIFFIN AND OTHER MEMBERS OF THE COMMITTEE.

SO TO RESPOND TO THE QUESTION, WE'VE DONE A TWO, TWO PRONGED APPROACH SO FAR.

THE FIRST THING THAT WE WANTED TO DO IS AND AND I THINK I'VE SHARED THIS WITH THE COMMITTEE IN THE PAST.

WE HIRED A SPECIALIZED CONSULTANT THAT DOES ACOUSTICAL MEASUREMENTS, AND WE WENT OUT AND WE MEASURED THE ACOUSTICS FOR EVERY SINGLE BAND HALL, EVERY CHOIR AND EVERY ORCHESTRA.

WE THEN RECEIVED A REPORT FOR THAT INFORMATION, TELLING US EXACTLY WHAT THE REVERBERATION EFFECTS ARE FOR EACH SPECIFIC ROOM, EVERY ENSEMBLE ROOM AS WELL, NOT JUST THE BAND HALLS, BUT THE ENSEMBLE ROOMS. SO WE'VE LOOKED IN THOSE AREAS.

WE FOLLOWED UP WITH THAT WITH A MEETING WITH ALL BAND DIRECTORS, CHOIR DIRECTORS AND ORCHESTRA DIRECTORS, DIRECTORS SHARING WITH THEM THE INFORMATION THAT WE FOUND.

SO ONE OF THE THINGS THAT THAT DID IS THAT IT VALIDATED A LOT OF THEIR CONCERNS.

ONE OF THE THINGS IS, IS IF YOU'RE IN A ROOM AND YOU'RE CONCERNED ABOUT A ROOM, THERE'S ALWAYS THE VALIDATION PIECE.

SO WE'VE BEEN ABLE TO VALIDATE A LOT OF THE CONCERNS THAT ARE THAT OUR INSTRUCTORS ARE HAVE EXPERIENCE TWO PRONGED APPROACH.

WE THEN CREATED A SURVEY FOR ALL OF OUR BAND CHOIR ORCHESTRA.

WE ASKED THEM TO SPECIFICALLY IDENTIFY WHAT AREAS THEY SEE AS AN ISSUE, BECAUSE ONE OF THE THINGS THAT WE DID WITH OUR REPORT, IT'S A REVERBERATION REPORT WHICH TALKS ABOUT WHAT THE EFFECTS ARE OF THE ROOM.

IT DOESN'T REALLY GIVE YOU A RECOMMENDATION FOR CORRECTION.

IT TELLS YOU WHERE YOU ARE ON THE SCALE OF WHAT THE ROOM SHOULD BE.

AND THERE'S DIFFERENT SCALES FOR BAND, CHOIR, ORCHESTRA AS SUCH FOR MIDDLE SCHOOLS AND HIGH SCHOOLS.

SO THERE'S A DIFFERENT SCALE SO EVERYONE KNOWS WHERE THEY FALL WITHIN THAT SCALE.

WHAT WE'VE ALSO DONE IS WE'VE TAKEN THAT SURVEY THAT WE'VE WE'VE GOTTEN FROM EVERY INSTRUCTOR, AND WE'VE SHARED THAT WITH AN ARCHITECTURAL FIRM.

AND QUITE FRANKLY, THIS IS A VERY COMPLEX PROJECT.

I'LL JUST TELL YOU, THIS IS A VERY COMPLEX PROJECT, WHAT WE ARE TALKING ABOUT IS WE HAVE EXISTING AND I'M GOING TO SAY THEY'RE EXISTING BECAUSE THEY'RE COMPLETE AND WE'RE UTILIZING THEM.

SO THE TERM OF BEING NEW, I'M NOT GOING TO USE THE TERM NEW ANYMORE.

I WOULD USE THE TERM EXISTING BECAUSE WE'RE IN IT.

THE EXISTING SPACES VARY IN WHAT NEEDS TO HAPPEN.

WHAT WE'RE SEEING IS THERE MAY BE SOME SPACES WHERE FROM THE ARCHITECT'S PERSPECTIVE, IT MAY BE AS SIMPLE AS ADDING SOME ADDITIONAL ACOUSTICAL TREATMENT.

NOW, WHEN I SAY ACOUSTICAL TREATMENT, THAT'S EVEN COMPLEX BECAUSE YOU CAN GET TO THE TYPES THAT ARE SELF-ABSORPTION, SOUND, REFLECTION, THOSE ARE ALL THE VARIOUS TYPES.

[00:15:07]

I'M NOT AN ACOUSTICIAN, SO THAT'S WHY WE HIRE PROFESSIONALS TO DO THIS WORK.

THE PROFESSIONALS ARE LOOKING AT A SPECIFIC ROOM AND MAKING THE RECOMMENDATIONS FOR THOSE ROOMS TO COMPOUND THAT.

WE HAVE SOME ROOMS THAT BASED UPON WE'RE GETTING BLEED THROUGH IN SOME ROOMS. SO THERE'S NO SECRET THAT SOME OF OUR ROOMS, WHEN WE'RE DOING INSTRUCTION IN ONE ROOM, I'LL GIVE YOU AN EXAMPLE.

WE'RE DOING INSTRUCTION IN ONE ROOM AND IT'S A BAND AND WE'RE INSTRUCTING THEM THERE.

AND CHOIR IS BUILT RIGHT NEXT TO BAND.

AND CHOIR IS ACTUALLY MUCH MORE QUIETER THAN BAND.

WE'RE GETTING BLEED THROUGH INTO THE CHOIR SPACE FROM THE BAND AND THAT NEEDS TO AND THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED.

AND YES, EVERYTHING YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT.

ABSOLUTELY. AND IT'S JUST NOT ONE CAMPUS.

SO THE THE EFFECTS ARE BEING ARE BEING SEEN ACROSS ALL OUR MIDDLE SCHOOLS AND ALL OF OUR HIGH SCHOOLS.

SO THIS IS A VERY LARGE PROJECT.

I WILL TELL YOU THAT IN SPEAKING WITH THE DESIGNER, THE DESIGNER SAYS THE TYPE OF PROJECT THAT WE'RE LOOKING AT MAY WELL ROLL INTO FROM ACTUALLY DOING THE WORK CONSTRUCT ABILITY.

CORRECTIONS MAY WELL ROLL INTO SEVERAL YEARS BECAUSE OF THE NUMBER OF CAMPUSES THAT WE HAVE.

WE HAVE 12 MIDDLE SCHOOLS.

SO I, I SHARE THAT.

AND IN OTHER WORDS, I'M TRYING TO SET THE EXPECTATION FOR THE DISTRICT IN THAT WE'RE TALKING ABOUT AN EXISTING SPACE THAT WE NEED TO MAKE SURE THAT WE'RE ATTACKING THIS NOW, HOW WE'RE GOING TO ATTACK IT.

WE'RE GOING TO ATTACK THIS BY LOOKING AT THE THE ANALYSIS THAT WE HAVE FROM OUR FROM OUR CONSULTANT ATTACK THOSE CAMPUSES THAT ARE ON WORST CASE SCENARIO CAMPUSES, FIRST, THERE HAS TO BE A PLAN.

AND I KNOW THAT IF [INAUDIBLE] I JUST NEED A LITTLE BIT OF A CORRECTION HERE.

I UNDERSTAND THAT.

BUT WITH THE MAGNITUDE OF THE NUMBER OF CAMPUSES THAT WE HAVE, WE HAVE TO COME UP WITH A STRATEGY.

AND REALLY, THE STRATEGY IS LET'S ADDRESS THE ONES THAT HAVE THE BIGGEST IMPACT AND THE ONES THAT ARE THE BIGGEST ISSUES.

AND THAT'S WHERE WE'RE AT RIGHT NOW.

SO WE'RE STILL IN THAT PHASE.

AS MR. GONZALEZ HAD MENTIONED, WE'RE CONTRACTED.

WE'LL BE WORKING WITH A CONTRACT WITH AN ARCHITECTURAL FIRM TO COME UP WITH THAT.

AND WE WILL CONTINUE TO SHARE MORE INFORMATION AS WE GET CLOSER ON THAT.

YOU'LL SEE THAT COME BACK TO YOU AS FAR AS WHERE WE ARE CONSTRUCT ABILITY AND AND I WOULD JUST SAY THIS, IT IS IT IS A COMPLEX PROJECT.

IT MAY BE AS SIMPLE AS I'LL GIVE YOU AN EXAMPLE.

ONE OF THE THINGS THAT WE TALKED ABOUT WITH OUR CAMPUSES IS WE HAVE DIFFUSERS ON THE CEILING AND THESE ARE PYRAMID DIFFUSERS.

SO THE GOAL OF THE DIFFUSER IS NOT TO ABSORB THE SOUND, BUT IS ACTUALLY TO DEFLECT THE SOUND TO CHANGE IT IN DIRECTION.

HOW THOSE DIFFUSERS WERE INSTALLED WERE FINDING WERE INSTALLED AND NOT IN A MANNER THAT WOULD BE APPROPRIATE INTO THAT ROOM.

NOW, GOING BACK TO THE SPECIFICATIONS THAT WERE ACTUALLY ISSUED TO THAT SPECIFIC TIME, THERE WERE NO SPECIFICS ON HOW THOSE SHOULD BE INSTALLED.

SO I CAN'T REALLY SAY THEY WEREN'T INSTALLED CORRECTLY BECAUSE THERE WAS NO THERE WAS NO INSTRUCTIONS GIVEN.

THEY WERE INSTALLED, BUT THEY WERE INSTALLED IN THE WAY THAT AN ACOUSTICIAN WOULD HAVE GIVEN DIRECTION TO THOSE.

SO THOSE ARE THE THINGS THAT WE'RE WORKING ON.

CAN I. CAN I GO? OKAY. I WOULD JUST AND I'VE HEARD, AS I SAID, FROM BAND DIRECTORS AND CHOIR DIRECTORS, I THINK THEIR FRUSTRATION WOULD BE AS LONG AS THEY KNOW THERE'S A PLAN AND THAT PLAN WILL BE IMPLEMENTED AT SOME TIME.

AGAIN, SOME OF THEM WERE HOPING IT WOULD BE THE SUMMER, OBVIOUSLY NOT.

DO YOU KNOW WHEN YOU MIGHT BE EXPECTING SOME OF THIS THESE THIS BID BACK OR WHATEVER THE PLAN? SO I HAVE A FOLLOW UP MEETING.

I HAVE A FOLLOW UP MEETING WITH THE ARCHITECTURAL FIRM NEXT WEEK.

AND HOPEFULLY AFTER THAT, I'LL BE ABLE TO DEVELOP A MORE LINEAR PLAN FOR YOU AT THAT TIME.

BUT THIS IS SOMETHING THAT IS ON OUR RADAR.

IT'S BEEN ON MY RADAR.

THIS IS SOMETHING THAT I HAVE PERSONALLY MET WITH BAND DIRECTORS, CHOIR DIRECTORS.

I HAVE BEEN IN THE SPACE AND EXPERIENCE THAT.

AND SO I'M LOOKING AT ALL OF THAT AND TRYING TO DEVELOP A A FORMALIZED PLAN FOR ALL OF OUR MIDDLE SCHOOLS AND HIGH SCHOOLS.

AGAIN, I UNDERSTAND AND I SAY THIS PUBLICLY TO ALL THE BAND DIRECTORS AND CHOIR DIRECTORS, I UNDERSTAND YOUR CONCERN.

THE MAGNITUDE OF THE PROJECT IS JUST NOT ONE CAMPUS.

IF IT WERE [INAUDIBLE] WE HAVE ONE CAMPUS THAT HAS AN ISSUE.

WHAT WE'RE SEEING, THIS IS AN ACROSS THE BOARD ISSUE THAT AFFECTS ALL OF OUR MIDDLE SCHOOLS AND ALL OF OUR HIGH SCHOOLS.

AND I THINK JUST TO MAYBE GIVE SOME MORE INFORMATION THAT MAYBE SOME OF US ARE NOT AWARE OF, IT'S NOT JUST A BAND HALL OR A CHOIR

[00:20:10]

ROOM. AS YOU SAID, THERE ARE THE OTHER PRACTICE ROOMS AND MIDDLE SCHOOLS AND HIGH SCHOOLS HAVE MULTIPLE PRACTICE ROOMS AND THEY'RE PART OF THE PROBLEM ALSO. SO THERE'S A LOT.

YEAH, SO, SO OUR BAND HALLS, WE DID A FANTASTIC JOB WHEN IT COMES TO THE 2014 BOND.

THIS DISTRICT HAD A GREAT VISION.

I'LL JUST TELL YOU, IT HAD A GREAT VISION WHEN IT CAME TO FINE ARTS.

NOT ONLY DID WE DO BAND HALL EXPANSION, SOME WE DID A NEW BAND HALL, WE CONVERTED BAND HALLS IN THE CHOIRS AND WE DID THE DOMINO EFFECT.

WE HAVE A BAND HALL, WE HAVE A CHOIR HALL, WE HAVE A ORCHESTRA HALL.

AND WITH EACH ONE OF THOSE, WE HAVE AN ENSEMBLE ROOM.

AND WITH EACH ONE OF THOSE WE HAVE A PRACTICE ROOM.

WE ALSO HAVE A PERCUSSION ROOM.

SO WE, THE DISTRICT DID A TREMENDOUS JOB IN DOING THIS.

WE JUST HAVE TO FINE TUNE IT.

THANK YOU, MS. GRIFFIN. YOU'RE WELCOME.

AND YOUR QUESTION ON THIS ONE.

YES, OK, I JUST WANT TO ASK PAUL GONZALEZ ABOUT IS THE MAINTENANCE DEPARTMENT A SIMPLE QUESTION HERE? IS THIS MAINTENANCE DEPARTMENT WORKING FIVE DAYS THIS SUMMER OR FOUR DAY WORK WEEK? WE ARE WORKING WE ARE WORKING FOUR DAYS.

THE MAJORITY OF OUR STAFF ARE WORKING FOUR DAY WORKWEEKS.

BUT DUE TO THE AMOUNT OF WORK AND SHORT STAFF, THEIR HEADS LIKE OUR PAINTING DEPARTMENT, WILL BE WORKING OVERTIME TO CATCH UP ON SOME MAJOR PAINTING AND SOME OTHER SOME OTHER THINGS.

BUT FOR THE MOST PART, WE'LL BE WORKING MONDAY THROUGH THURSDAY, 40 HOURS A WEEK.

BUT WE MAY HAVE TO WORK SOME SOME FRIDAY, FRIDAYS AND SATURDAYS JUST TO KEEP UP WITH THE WORK THAT WE NEED TO GET ACCOMPLISHED THIS SUMMER.

THE QUESTION IN 7 TO 8 WEEKS WILL BE STARTING APPROXIMATELY, AND YOU'VE GOT SOME HVAC LISTED HERE ON THIS PARTICULAR SHEET.

AND AGAIN, I HARPED ABOUT THAT OVER AND OVER AGAIN EVERY EVERY SUMMER ABOUT WHEN SCHOOL STARTS.

THAT'S TO ME NUMBER ONE PRIORITY FOR THE TEACHERS TO MAKE SURE THAT WE HAVE AIR.

ARE WE GOING TO BE ABLE TO GET THE PARTS TO GET THAT TAKEN CARE OF BEFORE SCHOOL STARTS IN 7 TO 8 WEEKS? SO WE'VE JUST HIRED THIS PAST YEAR, WE HIRED A NEW HVAC MANAGER.

SUPERVISOR WAS MAJOR RE REVAMPING OF THAT DEPARTMENT.

I PERSONALLY AND MR. BEACH WILL START A SERIES.

WE'RE GOING TO KIND OF DO THINGS.

WE'RE GOING TO DO A LITTLE TRIAGE THIS YEAR WHERE WE'RE STARTING NOW AND WE'RE GOING TO HAVE WEEKLY MEETINGS.

I WANT TO LOOK AT ALL THE WORK ORDERS THAT HAVE COME IN OVER THE COOLING SEASON THAT DIDN'T GET COMPLETED AS WE CLOSED OFF SCHOOL.

I WANT TO LOOK AT MAJOR COMPONENTS THAT NEED TO BE REPLACED.

WE'RE WORKING WITH OUR VENDORS.

WE'RE WORKING WITH OUR SUPPLIERS TO GIVE US TARGETS OF GETTING EQUIPMENT IN.

BUT I'M ALSO LOOKING AT ALSO TO INCLUDE CONTROLS.

WE'VE GOT SOME MAJOR CONTROL WORK GOING ON THIS SUMMER, BUT ALSO LOOKING AT ANY KIND OF BACKUP PLANS IF THAT'S HAVING TO PULL RESOURCES FROM OUTSIDE CONTRACTORS TO TEMPORARY AIR SYSTEMS IF NEEDED.

EVERY SCHOOL WILL HAVE AIR CONDITIONING WHEN WE START IN AUGUST.

OKAY, GOOD. AND THE LAST QUESTION, PAULA, I'D LIKE FOR YOU TO BRAG A LITTLE BIT HERE.

AND THIS IS CONCERNING THE JOB FAIR YOU GUYS HAD THE OTHER DAY, THE SUCCESS.

AND I'D LIKE YOU TO SHARE THAT WITH THE REST OF THE BOARD.

SO A COUPLE OF A COUPLE OF FACILITIES COMMITTEE MEETINGS AGO, I THINK IT WAS, I BELIEVE IT WAS, MR. MILLER HAD COMMENTED, HAS THE DISTRICT EVER HAD AN AUXILIARY AUXILIARY FAIR, JOB FAIR FOR AUXILIARY WORKERS? AND I TOLD HIM I DON'T BELIEVE WE HAVE AND SHARED WITH THEM.

I HAD SOME EXPERIENCE WORKING IN ANOTHER DISTRICT, PUTTING ONE TOGETHER.

SO I IMMEDIATELY MET WITH GRADY BROWN AND ROD MCHENRY AND THE HR TEAM.

AND THEN I ALSO BROUGHT IN MR. MILLER WITH STUDENT NUTRITION SERVICES AND THE TRANSPORTATION DEPARTMENT, AND WE ALL CAME TOGETHER AS A TEAM.

WE HAD A OUR FIRST FACILITIES AUXILIARY SERVICE JOB FAIR A COUPLE OF WEEKS, WEEK, WEEKENDS AGO.

THERE WAS PEOPLE IN OUR PARKING LOT AT 6:30 IN THE MORNING AND THE FAIR TO THE JOB FAIR DIDN'T START UNTIL 8:00.

THERE WAS PEOPLE EXCITED TO TRY TO GET A JOB.

WE FILLED PROBABLY AROUND 90% OF OUR VACANCIES.

WE'RE STILL IN NEGOTIATIONS WITH SOME OF THOSE, FINALIZING SOME OF THOSE.

BUT IT LOOKS REALLY, REALLY SUCCESSFUL FOR US FOR THE START OF THE SCHOOL YEAR AND WE'RE REALLY EXCITED ABOUT IT.

SO HATS OFF TO ALL OF THE PEOPLE THAT WERE INVOLVED.

I JUST KIND OF STOOD BACK AND WATCHED EVERYTHING.

BUT THE SUPERVISORS, THE MANAGERS, EVERYBODY, HR RISK MANAGEMENT CAME IN.

ONE OF THE COOL THINGS ABOUT IT, WHEN WE TRY TO HIRE ON STAFF, THERE'S MULTIPLE STEPS THAT TAKE SOMETIMES SEVERAL WEEKS.

WE HAD EVERYTHING THERE.

WE HAD EVERYTHING FROM THE ONBOARDING.

[00:25:01]

WE HAD THE DRUG TESTING, WE HAD THE BACKGROUND CHECKS.

WE HAD EVERYTHING THERE AT THE PAGEANT BUILDING.

AND WHEN AN EMPLOYEE, A FUTURE EMPLOYEE WALKED OUT, THEY HAD TO START DATE IN THEIR HAND.

SO IT WAS REALLY AWESOME TO SEE A SUCCESS.

AND I'M GOING TO I'M GOING TO TRY TO DO ANOTHER ONE NEXT SUMMER BECAUSE I KNOW THIS IS SOMETHING THAT WE NEED TO CONTINUE DOING.

THANK YOU FOR SHARING THAT FOR EVERYBODY.

THANK YOU. I WANT TO MAKE A SUGGESTION TO DR.

LOPEZ ON THE ACOUSTICS AND THE VERY COMPLEX PROJECT THAT'S BEFORE.

I WOULD LIKE TO SUGGEST, SINCE IT'S THE COMPLEXITY AND THE SIZE AND THE COST OF THE PROJECT THAT YOU AND YOUR EXECUTIVE TEAM, ALONG WITH FACILITIES AND MAINTENANCE, GET TOGETHER AND PLAN OUT A DETAILED PLAN THAT WILL ADDRESS WHAT THE APPROACH IS.

AND THEN THE NEXT TIME WE TALK ABOUT THIS, COULD WE HAVE AN OVERVIEW OF A PLAN? WILL THAT WORK? YEAH, I THINK WHAT'S GOING TO HAVE TO HAPPEN FIRST IS WE'VE GOT TO SEE WHAT WOULD IT PERTAINS TO FOR EACH.

SO IT'S NOT GOING TO BE AN IMMEDIATE TURNAROUND AND THAT'S WHAT I'M SAYING.

SO WHEN YOU ALL ARE READY WITH ALL OF THE DETAILS, IF YOU WILL GIVE US THAT PLAN, SO WE WILL KNOW WHAT THE INTENT IS AND THE PROJECTIONS.

THANK YOU SO MUCH. GOT IT.

THANK YOU. THANK YOU.

OUR NEXT ITEM IS TO TALK ABOUT SAM HOUSTON MIDDLE SCHOOL LIMITED SOLE SAMPLING RESULTS AND SOLE EXCAVATION SERVICES PRESENTATION.

[V. Sam Houston Middle School Limited Soil Sampling Results and Soil Excavation Services Presentation – Javier Fernandez]

MR. FERNANDES.

PAGES 9 THROUGH 19 COMMITTEE CHAIR GRIFFIN.

MEMBERS OF THE COMMITTEE WERE BOARD PRESIDENT JOHNSON.

DR. LOPEZ.

SO WANTED TO BRING YOU AN UPDATE ON THE SAM HOUSTON MIDDLE SCHOOL SOIL SAMPLING, THE RESULTS OF THAT AND THE SOIL EXCAVATION SERVICES THAT WILL RESULT FROM THE SAMPLING.

THIS IS AN OVERVIEW OF SAM HOUSTON MIDDLE SCHOOL.

SAM HOUSTON SITS RIGHT ACROSS THE STREET FROM PARK CREST ELEMENTARY.

ORIENT YOURSELF ON THAT ONE.

WHAT WE DID ON A SOIL SAMPLING, WE HIRED A CONSULTANT, TERRACON, TO COME OUT AND DO SOME SOIL SAMPLING AT PARK CREST, AND THAT WAS THE DISTRICT DECIDED TO DO THAT BASED UPON THE INFORMATION THAT WE COLLECTED FROM THE EPA PERFORMING THEIR ASSESSMENTS AT PARK CREST ELEMENTARY, ALONG WITH THE HOMES THAT WERE ON THAT STREAM THAT WAS AFFECTED BY THE GLOBE UNION FACILITY.

THIS FACILITY WAS NOT PART OF THE EPA'S PLAN.

IT WAS OUTSIDE OF THEIR SAMPLING AREA.

BUT THE DISTRICT ITSELF DEEMED THAT WE WANTED TO BE COMPLETELY TRANSPARENT TO OUR CONSTITUENTS AND WANTED TO SAMPLE THIS PROPERTY ANYWAY TO MAKE SURE THAT WE DIDN'T HAVE ANY ISSUES AT THIS PROPERTY.

SO HOW DO WE PERFORM OUR SAMPLING? WE BASED ALL OF OUR METHODOLOGIES AND PROTOCOLS OFF OF HOW EXACTLY HOW THE EPA PERFORMED THEIR ASSESSMENTS FOR THE FOR THE GLOBE UNION PROJECT. WE ALSO DID THE SAME TYPES OF SAMPLING THAT WAS VERY CONSISTENT WITH THE EXACT SAME WAY THEY PERFORMED THEIRS.

THIS WAS A GRID BASED SAMPLING THAT CONSISTED OF APPROXIMATELY 2500 SQUARE FEET PER GRID.

THERE WERE 119 GRIDS.

AGAIN, THAT WAS CONSISTENT WITH HOW THE EPA PERFORMED THEIR SAMPLING AT PARK CREST.

THE ONLY THING THAT WAS DIFFERENT FOR SAM HOUSTON THAN PARK CREST IS THAT WE SPECIFICALLY SPECIFIED TO METALS, WHICH WERE FOR ARSENIC AND LEAD.

THOSE ARE THE TWO THAT WE SAMPLED THERE AT SAM HOUSTON.

SO A QUICK TIMELINE OF THE ITEMS THAT TOOK OFF.

WE HAD A PROJECT KICKOFF IN NOVEMBER OF LAST YEAR.

WE DID THREE ACTUALLY DID THREE ROUNDS OF SAMPLING.

OUR FIRST ROUND WAS IN NOVEMBER THROUGH DECEMBER AND THEN WE WENT BACK AGAIN IN FEBRUARY TO DO SOME ADDITIONAL SAMPLING AND THEN AGAIN IN MARCH WHERE WE DID SOME ADDITIONAL SAMPLING THERE.

WE RECEIVED THE FINAL REPORT WAS RECEIVED ON IN MAY.

EARLY MAY IS WHEN THE DISTRICT RECEIVED THE FINAL REPORT.

THIS IS JUST SOME PHOTOS OF OTHER TYPES OF SAMPLING.

A LOT OF IT IS ALL MANUAL SAMPLING.

THIS WAS ALL DONE BY HAND.

THERE WERE A FEW THAT WERE DONE USING A DRILL RIG THAT WE USE TO COLLECT SOIL SAMPLES.

SO WHAT DID WE SEE? WE HAVE A COMPOSITE SAMPLES FROM SEVEN GRIDS THAT EXHIBITED ARSENIC CONCENTRATIONS THAT WERE ABOVE THE SOIL CLEANUP STANDARDS OF 24 PARTS PER MILLION FOR ARSENIC. YOU CAN SEE THOSE ARE THE GRID NUMBERS THERE, 33, 34, 78, 82, 85, 106 AND 118.

AND THAT'S THE THE LEVEL.

SO JUST SLIGHTLY HIGHER THAN THE STANDARD FOR A RESIDENTIAL CLEANUP.

[00:30:06]

THIS IS ACTUALLY THE MAP OF WHERE THE SAMPLING WAS TAKEN AND WHERE THE ARSENIC IS AT SOME OF THAT IN THE NORTHERN PART OF THIS PHOTO, YOU'LL SEE THE TOP SIDE THAT'S AROUND THE TENNIS COURTS.

AND THEN THERE'S SOME AT WHAT WE CONSIDER A BOULEVARD BETWEEN THE STREET AND THE PARKING LOT, WHICH IS FURTHER SOUTH.

SO IT'S KIND OF SPORADIC.

AND SO WHAT DO WE HAVE TO DO WITH SO WE HAVE THIS SOIL THAT WE KNOW THAT IS IT'S GOT HIGH LEVELS OF ARSENIC.

SO WHAT DO WE DO? SO AS A DISTRICT, WE'VE IDENTIFIED WHERE THAT THAT METAL IS.

WE'VE IDENTIFIED WHERE IT'S AT IN THE SOIL, THE DEPTHS OF THAT.

AND NOW THE DISTRICT IS GOING TO EXCAVATE THAT OR REMEDIATE THAT SOIL.

WHAT THAT MEANS IS THAT WE WILL REMOVE THE CONTAMINATED SOIL AND THEN WE WILL REPLACE THAT SOIL WITH CLEAN SOIL THAT'S BEEN VERIFIED TO BE CLEAN.

HOW WILL WE DO THAT? WELL, WE'VE GOT A SCOPE OF SERVICES THAT WE ARE HIRING A CONSULTANT TO DO THAT WORK.

AGAIN, IT'S GOING TO BE TERRACON THAT WE'RE PERFORMING THE SERVICES FOR US.

THERE WILL BE A HERE.

I'M NOT GOING TO READ EVERY BULLET POINT, BUT THESE ARE THE SCOPES OF SERVICES THAT ARE ACTUALLY GOING TO BE DONE.

ONE, WE WILL ACTUALLY DO THE EXCAVATION OF THE SOIL, BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY FOR THE COMMUNITY AND AND FOR EVERYONE, THERE WILL BE AIR MONITORING AS PART OF THIS.

SO WE WILL NOT JUST DO THE EXCAVATION, BUT WE WILL HAVE SYSTEMS IN PLACE TO MONITOR THE AIR AS WE ARE DOING THE EXCAVATION.

WE'LL CONTINUE TO DO THAT UNTIL WE GET REPORTS BACK FROM THE LAB THAT INDICATE THAT THE SOIL IS NO LONGER NO LONGER HAS ARSENIC AT THAT IS ABOVE THE SOIL SAMPLING RATE.

FROM THAT, WE WILL THEN BRING BACK CLEAN SOIL, PUT THAT DOWN AND THEN WE'LL CREATE A REPORT FOR THE DISTRICT.

THIS IS A QUICK SCHEDULE OF WHAT WE'VE COME UP.

THIS IS A PROJECT THAT TAKES ABOUT 50 WORKING DAYS TO COMPLETE.

SO WE'LL ISSUE A NOTICE TO PROCEED AT THE END OF THE MONTH.

AND AS YOU CAN SEE FROM THIS, OUR GOAL IS TO ACTUALLY HAVE ALL OF THE SAMPLES EXCUSE ME, ALL OF THE EXCAVATION DONE PRIOR TO THE STUDENTS GETTING BACK TO CAMPUS IN AUGUST.

SO WE'VE GOT SOME REPORTING THAT HAS TO BE DONE, BUT IT SHOULD NOT IMPACT THE CAMPUS.

SO THAT IS THE GOAL.

THAT'S THE TIMELINE THAT WE'RE SHOWING FOR THE SCHEDULE FOR THIS PROJECT.

AND ALL OF THIS IS DONE FOR.

THIS IS A TIME OF MATERIALS ESTIMATE $156,250.

WITH THAT, I'LL ENTERTAIN ANY QUESTIONS ANYONE MAY HAVE.

THANK YOU. COMMITTEE MEMBERS.

ARE THERE QUESTIONS? BOARD MEMBERS? ARE THERE QUESTIONS? MR. MILLER. YEAH, JUST REAL QUICK, LOOKING AT THE MAP THAT SHOWS THE ACTUAL ZONES WHERE THE CLEANUP WILL TAKE PLACE, THE FACT THAT THERE ARE ALL PERIMETER TYPE OF TYPE OF LOCATIONS.

I MEAN, DOES THAT TELL US ANYTHING? I THINK ONE WAS AROUND THE TENNIS COURT.

YES, SIR. AND THEN KIND OF THE FRONT CORNER LAWN AND THEN EVERYTHING JUST ON A PERIMETER? YES, SIR. SO WE'VE NOT BEEN ABLE TO PINPOINT THE ORIGIN OF THIS, THE ARSENIC ITSELF. JUST JUST TO BE KIND OF SHARE WITH EVERYONE.

WE HAVE A CONSULTANT WITH TERRACON HERE, SCOTT, WHO IF YOU'D LIKE FOR SCOTT TO SHARE SOME INSIGHT ON WHAT HE BELIEVES THIS IS. I'LL BE HAPPY TO LET SCOTT TALK.

YEAH, WELL, HE'S HERE. YEAH.

GOOD AFTERNOON, EVERYONE.

YOU KNOW, AT THE END OF THE DAY, I THINK THE SHORT ANSWER WOULD BE IS WE'RE UNSURE OF THE EXACT SOURCE.

THERE'S A NUMBER OF POTENTIAL SOURCES.

WE KNOW ARSENIC CAN BE NATURALLY OCCURRING AT THESE LEVELS IN SOME CASES, AND SOILS AND BEDROCK IN NORTH TEXAS.

SO WE KNOW THAT COULD BE A POTENTIAL SOURCE.

WE KNOW ARSENIC WAS USED IN OLD PESTICIDES, PARTICULARLY COTTON FARMING, BUT OTHER FARMING AS WELL.

HISTORICALLY, IT IS A METAL, SO IT DOESN'T GO AWAY.

OVER TIME, IT'S GOING TO STAY AROUND.

THERE IS ARSENIC IN CERTAIN HERBICIDES AND PESTICIDES STILL THAT ARE CURRENTLY USED FROM TIME TO TIME, ALTHOUGH THOSE HAVE BEEN THEY'RE LESS AND LESS LIKELY, BUT IT'S STILL A POTENTIAL. AND THEN THERE'S ALSO THE POTENTIAL FOR FILM MATERIAL TO BE BROUGHT IN.

SO DURING CONSTRUCTION OF THE SCHOOL OR ANY RENOVATIONS, LET'S SAY MAYBE HISTORICALLY, IF THEY BROUGHT IN SOME SOIL AROUND THE TENNIS COURTS OR ON THE FRONT DRIVE, IMPORTED SOIL MAY HAVE HAD ARSENIC AGAIN FROM NATURALLY OCCURRING OR ANTHROPOGENIC SOURCES.

SO THESE LEVELS DON'T SUGGEST AS WELL AS THE WHOLE DATA SET IN GENERAL IN TERMS OF WHERE IT'S AT AND WHY THEY DON'T SUGGEST ANY SOURCE OF A RELEASE OR A HAS RELEASED OR

[00:35:09]

IT'S COMING FROM A HAS SOURCE.

MORE THAN LIKELY IT'S A COMBINATION OF SOME NATURALLY OCCURRING OR ANTHROPOGENIC SOURCE.

WHEN I SAY ANTHROPOGENIC, THAT'S MANMADE.

SO HEY, AUTOMOBILE EXHAUST, YOU KNOW, MAYBE HOUSES OR FACILITIES GET DEMOLISHED AND SOME OF THE BRICK AND THINGS GET IN SOIL, PESTICIDES, ETC.. MORE THAN LIKELY, IT'S SOME COMBINATION THEREOF.

BUT I THINK THE LONG, LONG STORY SHORT THE GOOD NEWS WAS, IS ACROSS THAT ENTIRE CAMPUS, WE REALLY SAW IT IN A PRETTY LIMITED CAPACITY AND THE LEVELS THAT WERE OVER 24 WERE NOT THAT FAR ABOVE. SO.

BUT BUT I WOULDN'T SAY THAT THE FACT THAT AS A SCIENTIST, I WOULDN'T SAY THE FACT THAT IT'S IN THE PERIMETER WOULD NECESSARILY LEAD US TO A SPECIFIC CONCLUSION.

SO DID YOU START OFF BY SAYING THAT THE ORGANIC, NATURALLY OCCURRING ARSENIC COULD REACH THESE LEVELS? IT CAN, YES. IT'S NOT YOU KNOW, WE DO SEE IT FROM TIME TO TIME IN NORTH TEXAS NATURALLY OCCURRING AT THESE TYPES OF LEVELS.

I THINK IN A LOT OF CASES, WHEN YOU SEE IT AT THESE LEVELS, THERE'S MORE THAN LIKELY SOME INFLUENCE OF HISTORIC PESTICIDE USE BECAUSE THIS WAS ALL AG LAND.

I MEAN, ALL OF NORTH TEXAS WAS AG LAND AT ONE POINT, RIGHT? YES. SO AND THEN, YOU KNOW, AND THEN ACROSS DIFFERENT PARTS OF TEXAS, YOU CAN SEE IT NATURALLY OCCURRING LIKE ABOVE THESE CONCENTRATIONS.

SO THAT'S WHEN WE'RE LOOKING AT METALS.

THAT'S SOMETHING WE HAVE TO KEEP IN CONTEXT JUST BECAUSE THEY CAN BE NATURALLY OCCURRING.

AND, YOU KNOW, THERE'S ANY WAY IT HAD ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE LEACHING OVER FROM THE PARK CREST SITE.

I DO NOT KNOW THAT ACTIVITY THAT HAPPENED IS JUST.

YEAH. AND WHEN WE THINK BACK TO PARK CREST, TOO, THE EPA ALSO AGREED THAT, YOU KNOW, THE DIDN'T ADD UP TO THE GLOBE UNION RELEASE.

WE AGREED WITH THE EPA ON THAT AT PARK CREST, AND WE CARRY THAT CONCLUSION HERE.

THIS ISN'T RELATED TO THE GLOBE UNION.

OKAY. THANK YOU.

ALL RIGHT. THANK YOU. ANY OTHER QUESTIONS? ALL RIGHT. THANK YOU SO MUCH.

WE WILL MOVE ON NOW TO CONSIDER APPROVAL OF STAFF PARKING EXPANSION AT SAM HOUSTON MIDDLE SCHOOL.

[VI.A. Action Items]

YOU'RE STILL UP, MR. FERNANDES. THANK YOU.

COMMITTEE CHAIR GRIFFIN.

MEMBERS OF THE COMMITTEE.

BOARD, PRESIDENT JOHNSON.

DR. LOPEZ.

SO THIS IS AN OVERVIEW OF A PARKING LOT EXPANSION AT SAM HOUSTON MIDDLE SCHOOL.

THE AGENDA ITEM STATES THIS IS A PROJECT THAT LOOKING AT EXPANDING THE MIDDLE SCHOOL, EXPANDING THE PARKING LOT AT SAM HOUSTON.

AND THERE YOU CAN SEE THE PROJECTED AMOUNT OF COST THAT THAT WOULD COST THE DISTRICT TO DO ALONG WITH THE FUND THAT WE'RE PROPOSING TO UTILIZE FOR THIS. SO, AGAIN, THIS IS AN AREA OF SAM HOUSTON, THE PARKING LOT THAT WE ARE TALKING ABOUT EXPANDING OR ADDING, I SHOULD SAY, IS TO THE RIGHT OF THIS CHART, WHICH IS THE EAST SIDE.

SO THIS IS AN EXISTING CONDITION OF OUR PARKING LOT.

SO IF I DRIVE BY SAM HOUSTON, THIS IS HOW THE PARKING LOT IS BEING UTILIZED TODAY OR OUR CAMPUS.

SO WE DO NOT HAVE A PARKING WE DON'T HAVE ANY PARKING ON THE ON THE EAST SIDE OF THE CAMPUS.

AND SO THESE ARE CARS THAT ARE PARKED BOTH ON BOTH SIDES OF THE FIRE LANE THERE THAT YOU SEE.

SO THIS IS ANOTHER VIEW OF OF BASICALLY THE CAPACITY THAT WE HAVE AS FAR AS THE NUMBER OF CARS THAT ARE ACTUALLY THERE.

AND THAT'S A THAT'S A TYPICAL DAY THERE AT SAM HOUSTON.

SO WHAT WE'RE TALKING ABOUT DOING IS ADDING ABOUT 52 SPACES IN THE FRONT SIDE, 388 WEST SIDE, 19 SPACES 288. AND THEN WE'RE LOOKING AT THAT WOULD AFFECT 108 STAFF, TEACHERS, FACILITIES, TEACHERS AND STAFF.

THAT'S THE NUMBER OF INDIVIDUALS THAT ARE HOUSED AT SAM HOUSTON.

THE STAFF TODAY IS PARKING ON THE GRASS AND WE CALL THAT A PLAY AREA.

IT'S A TURNAROUND AREA.

AND SO THOSE ARE PARTS OF THE AREA WHERE THEY'RE PARKING.

SO WE'RE ACTUALLY PROPOSING TO ADD 53 ADDITIONAL SPACES AND 388 SPACES WITHIN THIS AREA.

THIS IS A CONCEPT THAT IS NOT A FINAL DRAWING, BY NO MEANS, BUT THIS IS A CONCEPT OF WHAT WE WOULD BE LOOKING AT DOING FOR SAM HOUSTON. AGAIN, THIS IS ON [INAUDIBLE] THE BOTTOM OF THE PAGE IS ACTUALLY THE WEST SIDE OF THE CAMPUS. THE ENTRANCE TO THE CAMPUS IS ACTUALLY ON THE LEFT SIDE OF OF THE DRAWING THERE TO GIVE YOU AN ORIENTATION.

[00:40:04]

SO THIS IS WHAT WE'RE PROPOSING.

AGAIN, NOTHING HAS BEEN DRAWN IN CONCRETE.

WE WILL HAVE AFTER THIS PROJECT GETS APPROVED, WE WILL HAVE DESIGN MEETINGS WITH OUR CAMPUS, CAMPUS PRINCIPAL, CAMPUS STAFF, GETTING THEIR INPUT ON THE BEST WAY TO ADD A PARKING TO SAM HOUSTON.

THIS IS THE OVERALL COST.

THERE WAS A BUDGET THAT I PUT TOGETHER FOR THIS PROJECT, GIVES YOU A CONSTRUCTION COST, DESIGN COSTS AND ALL YOUR MISCELLANEOUS COSTS.

SO YOU CAN SEE HOW THAT'S BROKEN OUT ON THE OVERALL PROJECT BUDGET ESTIMATE OF WHAT IT WOULD TAKE TO BUILD THAT.

THIS IS A SCHEDULE OF WORKING WITH THE DESIGNER, HOW LONG IT WOULD ACTUALLY TAKE TO TO BUILD.

SO WE'RE LOOKING AT STARTING PLANNING JULY ONE AND CONCLUDING THE PROJECT IT WOULD ACTUALLY CONSTRUCT.

WE WOULD BE CONSTRUCTING AT THE END OF THE YEAR, DECEMBER TIMEFRAME THROUGH MARCH OF NEXT YEAR WAS WHEN WE WOULD BE DOING CONSTRUCTION AND SO WE WOULD BE FINISHING THE PROJECT AROUND THE MARCH TIME FRAME AND THEN DOING DOCUMENTATION OUT WHICH WOULD END UP IN MAY OF NEXT YEAR.

SO AS FAR AS THAT SCHEDULE GOES.

FIRST QUESTION YOU MIGHT ASK IS OK.

YOU'RE GOING TO DO CONSTRUCTION IN DECEMBER OR JANUARY, FEBRUARY, MARCH? THAT TELLS US THAT THAT'S DURING THE TIME THAT OUR KIDS ARE IN SCHOOL.

SO WE HAVE HAD ACTUALLY DISCUSSIONS WITH CAMPUS ABOUT THIS AND CAMPUS HAS DISCUSSED THIS WITH ME.

AND THERE IS A PLAN IN PLACE.

THERE WILL BE A PLAN IN PLACE TO ACCOMMODATE STAFF WHILE WE ARE DOING CONSTRUCTION OF THIS AREA.

OK. THANK YOU.

AND TRUSTEES THIS WILL BE AN ACTION ITEM THAT WILL BE ON OUR AGENDA FOR OUR REGULAR BOARD MEETING.

SO COMMITTEE MEMBERS, DO YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS OF THIS EXPANSION? COMMITTEE MEMBERS.

BOARD MEMBERS.

CHAIRPERSON GRIFFIN. OKAY.

JUST A SECOND, DR.

LOPEZ. JUST A CLARIFICATION.

I JUST WANT THE COMMUNITIES TO KNOW THAT THE REASON WHY THE TIMELINE IS BACKLOGGED IS BECAUSE WE HAVE TO DO THE WHOLE EXCAVATION THING BEFORE WE.

IT'S NOT A NATURAL PROCESS TO DO IT DURING.

SO WE HAVE TO GO IN.

WE HAVE TO TAKE OUT THE SOIL, PUT GOOD SOIL ON, AND THEN START THE PROCESS AFTER THAT TO BUILD THE PARKING LOT.

SO IT'S NOT AS EASY AS JUST TAKING OUT THE SOIL AND THEN BUILDING THE PARKING LOT ON TOP.

OKAY. THANK YOU FOR THAT, MR. MILLER. YEAH.

JUST BACK TO THE MAP WHERE YOU HAVE THE ADDITIONS, THE EXPANSION, [INAUDIBLE].

SO THE STUFF IN RED IS ON THE WEST SIDE? YES, SIR. SO IF YOU TURN IT UP AND SUSSEX IS A STREET THAT DIVIDES PARK CREST WITH SAM HOUSTON.

NO, THE STREET THAT DIVIDES PARK CREST AND SAM HOUSTON IS ACTUALLY ON THE NORTH AND THAT'S PARK CREST AVENUE.

ALL RIGHT. GO BACK TO THE MAP.

THE RED IS WEST.

SO IF YOU TURNED IT UP SO THAT THE RED WAS ACTUALLY TO THE LEFT, WHAT WOULD BE NORTH? THE RED IS ACTUALLY THE EAST, SIR.

I THOUGHT YOU TOLD ME IT WAS WEST.

MY MISTAKE, SIR.

OKAY, THE RED IS ON.

THAT'S WHY I WAS GETTING THAT.

BECAUSE IT LOOKED TO ME LIKE IF THAT WAS TRULY WEST, THAT WE WERE GOING TO HAVE SAM HOUSTON PARKING ENTERING FROM THE NORTH OFFICE.

THAT ROAD BETWEEN PARK PARK CREST AND THAT WOULD BE VERY CROWDED.

NO, SIR. MY APOLOGIES, SIR.

THE MAP ITSELF, WHERE THE CROSSHAIRS ARE, THOSE CROSSHAIRS ARE ACTUALLY ON THE EAST SIDE OF THE CAMPUS.

AND THAT IS ACTUALLY I SAY, WHERE IT'S ON THE SCREEN THERE, THAT IS ACTUALLY ON THE EAST SIDE OF THE CAMPUS.

AND HOW MANY PARKING SPOTS ARE CURRENTLY IN PLACE? THERE ARE NO PARKING SPOTS IN THAT SIDE, SIR.

NO, I MEAN ON THE CAMPUS CURRENTLY WE HAVE 52 PARKING SPACES IN THE FRONT AND THERE ARE 19 PARKING SPACES ON THE SITE ON THE WEST SIDE.

AND THEN AFTER COMPLETION, WHAT WILL IT BE AGAIN? SO WE'LL HAVE 52 SPACES IN THE FRONT AND WE'LL HAVE AN ADDITIONAL 53 SPACES ON THE EAST SIDE OF THE PARKING.

SO 52, 19 AND 53 AND 53.

SO 150 IT'S ABOUT NOW I'LL SAY THIS, THAT WHILE WHEN YOU LOOK AT THIS, WHEN YOU LOOK AT THE BUILDING, YOU SAY 52 SPACES, 19 SPACES IS CURRENTLY WHAT WE HAVE ACCORDING TO THE THE GARLAND, THE CITY OF GARLAND DEVELOP

[00:45:01]

DEVELOPMENTAL CODE FOR THIS CAMPUS.

WE ACTUALLY ARE EVEN TODAY WITHIN THE WE ARE ACTUALLY IN CODE TODAY, BUT WE ARE GOING TO EXPAND BECAUSE OF THE NUMBER OF FACULTY MEMBERS THAT WE HAVE.

NO I HAVE NO PROBLEM WITH THAT.

WHAT I'M TRYING TO GET AT IS IF WE DOUBLE ALMOST OUR PARKING SPACES, ARE THEY GOING TO BE USED OR IS IT JUST GOING TO BE CONCRETE SITTING OUT? WILL THE TEACHERS PARK SPECIFICALLY IN THAT SIDE SPACE IN THE FRONT AND THE OPEN FOR VISITORS AND WHAT HAVE YOU? HOW WILL THAT WORK? YOU WANT TO GO BACK TO THE PICTURES THAT SHOW THE CONDITIONS OF PARKING? SURE. I HAVE THE CAMPUS PRINCIPAL HERE WHO CAN SPEAK TO THE DESIGN THAT YOU SEE HERE AND HOW HE PLANS ON UTILIZING THE SPACE.

PRINCIPAL HERNANDEZ.

GOOD AFTERNOON, EVERYONE.

SO THE EAST SIDE IS WHERE THE PARKING LOT IS PROPOSED.

WHEN I FIRST GOT TO SAM HOUSTON, TEACHERS PARKED IN THE FRONT AND ON THE ROAD.

THE NEIGHBORHOOD CITIZENS ASKED ME NOT TO PARK ON THE ROAD FOR EMERGENCY VEHICLES.

SO I GOT MY FACULTY TO PARK ALONG THE GRASS ALL UP AND DOWN THE ON BOTH SIDES OF THAT AREA RIGHT THERE, THAT FIRE LANE.

AND THEN THE CITIZENS ASKED ME NOT TO PARK THERE BECAUSE THEY COULDN'T WALK AND PARK.

SO THAT'S SOMETHING THAT WE'VE BEEN WORKING WITH OUR NEIGHBORS THROUGHOUT THE YEARS THAT I'VE BEEN AT SAM HOUSTON.

BUT IF THE PARKING LOT IS BUILT, DEFINITELY THE TEACHERS WILL COME OFF THE GRASS.

THEY WILL PARK IN THE DESIGNATED AREAS IN THE FRONT AND ON THE SIDE OF THE BUILDINGS.

THERE ARE ADDITIONAL PARKING ON THE WEST SIDE NEAR THE GYM AND THE CAFETERIA RIGHT THERE.

BUT MOST OF THE CAFETERIA STAFF PARK THERE.

WHERE'S THE GYM ON THAT DRAWING? A LITTLE BIT FURTHER PAST THE CARS RIGHT THERE.

SO I GET SOME JUST LOOKING AT IT.

HOW MANY? I JUST LOOK LIKE WE'RE BUILDING A REALLY LARGE PARKING LOT THAT'LL HAVE ABOUT A HALF CAPACITY IF EVERYBODY'S THERE FROM A TEACHING STAFF STANDPOINT, HOW MANY CARS ARE THERE NORMALLY? AND THEN I GOT TO THINKING, WELL, IT'S FOR EVENTS, BUT THE GYM'S ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE SCHOOL.

RIGHT. DURING DURING GAMES, THEY PARK IN THE FRONT OF THE SCHOOL AND WALK THROUGH THE MIDDLE OF THE SCHOOL TO THE GYM.

THERE'S NOT NO LONGER A AN ENTRANCE ON THE OUTSIDE FOR TICKET SALES PURPOSES.

OKAY. THANK YOU.

THIS IS GOING TO COME BEFORE AN ACTION ITEM.

SO IS THERE ON READINESS ABOUT THIS PROJECT? HEARING NONE. THEN WE WILL MOVE IT AS AN ACTION ITEM ON THE BOARD AGENDA FOR JUNE.

THANK YOU. THE NEXT ACTION ITEM FOR JUNE THAT WE HAVE TO CONSIDER IS APPROVAL OF THE REPLACEMENT OF THE GREENHOUSE AT NAAMAN FOREST HIGH SCHOOL. AND WE'RE ON PAGES 31 THROUGH 44.

COMMITTEE CHAIR GRIFFIN MEMBERS OF THE COMMITTEE FOR PRESIDENT JOHNSON.

DR. LOPEZ.

THIS PRESENTATION IS TO DISCUSS A REPLACEMENT OF THE GREENHOUSE EXISTING GREENHOUSE THAT EXISTS AT NAAMAN FOREST HIGH SCHOOL.

HERE YOU CAN SEE THE ACTUAL AGENDA ITEM, THE AGENDA ITEM, ALONG WITH THE COST OF THE PROJECT.

THE FUNDING SOURCE THAT IS PROPOSED TO USE FOR THIS PROJECT.

SO WE COMPLETED A RISK ASSESSMENT OF THE EXISTING FACILITY THAT WAS COMPLETED ON 4/27.

WE HAD OUR RISK MANAGEMENT GROUP GO OUT AND ASSESS THE BUILDING.

THEY PERFORMED AN ASSESSMENT.

THEY ALSO GAVE US A RECOMMENDATION.

BASICALLY, WE'LL HAVE SOME PHOTOS HERE TO SHARE WITH YOU THE EXISTING CONDITIONS OF THE FACILITY.

THE FACILITY ITSELF HAS EXCEEDED ITS END OF LIFE, IF YOU WILL.

THESE ARE SOME OF THE EXISTING PHOTOS OF OF THE FACILITY YOU SEE THERE YOU SEE THE GREENHOUSE.

SO JUST A LITTLE QUICK NOTE TO YOU.

THE GREENHOUSE THAT IS COVERED AND YOU SEE THE GREENHOUSE PORTION THAT IS NOT COVERED.

I'LL GIVE YOU A LITTLE HISTORICAL FACT HERE FOR THIS FOR THIS GREENHOUSE SO THAT YOU'RE AWARE THE GREENHOUSE WAS ACTUALLY PURCHASED A USED GREENHOUSE.

[00:50:09]

THE DISTRICT PURCHASED A USED GREENHOUSE MANY, MANY YEARS AGO BACK IN THE EIGHTIES.

AND THE GREENHOUSE THAT WAS PURCHASED WOULD NOT FIT ON THAT PROPERTY.

SO THE SOLUTION AT THE TIME I WASN'T HERE IN THE 80S, BUT AT THAT TIME THE SOLUTION WAS TO CUT THE GREENHOUSE IN HALF AND FIT WHAT WOULD FIT IN THAT SECTION. AND THEN THE OTHER PART, JUST TO LEAVE IT UNCOVERED.

SO WHAT YOU HAVE THERE, IT'S A USED GREENHOUSE THAT HAS WELL EXCEEDED ITS USEFUL LIFE AND IS IN NEED OF OR IN NEED OF REPLACEMENT FOR OUR STUDENTS AND THE PROGRAMS THAT WE OFFER THERE.

THEY MEANT TO TURN THIS OVER TO MR. [INAUDIBLE], WHO WILL SPEAK TO THE ENROLLMENT HORTICULTURE.

GOOD AFTERNOON, CHAIR GRIFFIN PRESIDENT JOHNSON, DR.

LOPEZ, COMMITTEE MEMBERS, JUST TO GIVE A LITTLE BIT OF BACKGROUND, SO WHILE WE WERE TALKING ABOUT THIS PROJECT TOGETHER, I WAS TESTED LOOKING AT THE ENROLLMENT OF THE PROGRAM AT NAAMAN FOREST HIGH SCHOOL.

SO YOU CAN TELL THIS YEAR WE DID TAKE QUITE A BIT OF A DIP.

AS FOR TWO TEACHERS, WE HAD 213 STUDENTS.

BUT AS THEY'VE RECRUITED AND WE'VE WORKED ON THE PROGRAM FOR NEXT YEAR, WE HAVE A FULL ENROLLMENT OF ABOUT 357 STUDENTS.

SO THAT'S A VERY HEALTHY PROGRAM FOR TEACHERS, AND ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU'RE LOOKING AT CLASSES WHERE YOU'RE GOING TO GET INTO PRACTICUM AND ADVANCED FLORAL DESIGN AND GREENHOUSE AND TURF GRASS MANAGEMENT, YOUR CLASS SIZES TEND TO BE A LITTLE BIT SMALLER AS YOU GIVE KIDS DIRECT FEEDBACK AS THEY'RE OPERATING THOSE TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT.

SO JUST TO BRING UP THE SCHEDULES, WHY I PUT THIS INTO THE PRESENTATION, A LOT OF THE GREENHOUSE IS JUST IN DISREPAIR.

IT'S BEEN IGNORED A LITTLE BIT DURING COVID AND WE WANT TO STRUCTURALLY PUT SOMETHING IN PLACE.

SO THAT WAY THE STUDENTS AND THE TEACHERS TAKE CARE OF THE FACILITY JUST LIKE THEY DO HERE AT THE [INAUDIBLE].

SO I HIGHLIGHTED THE PRACTICUM COURSE THERE.

WE ARE GOING TO BRING IT TO A DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVE FOR THAT CLASS.

THEY HAD INDIVIDUALIZED CLASSES INSTEAD OF THAT DOUBLE BLOCK SECTION.

BUT NOW WITH THE STUDENTS AND THE TEACHERS LEADERSHIP, THE STUDENTS AND THE TEACHER WILL HAVE THE TIME AND THE SPACE AND THE CURRICULUM CONNECTION TO TAKE CARE OF THE WHOLE CONSTRUCTION AND THE AREA AT NAAMAN FOREST HIGH SCHOOL, WE'VE ACTUALLY BEEN WORKING ON A CLEAN OUT PLAN.

WE STARTED WE PUT OUR FIRST DUMPSTER BEHIND THE SCHOOL ON MAY 20TH.

WE'VE EMPTIED AT ABOUT THREE TIMES.

WE'VE GOT SOME WORK TO DO.

BUT OUR BIG PLAN IS TO BRING AS MUCH AS WE CAN INSIDE BUY SOME EQUIPMENT IN JULY ONCE IT'S CLEANED OUT, SO THE STUDENTS CAN STILL LEARN THE APPROPRIATE CURRICULUM, MAYBE LEARN SOME INDOOR GROWING TECHNIQUES WHILE THE CONSTRUCTION IS GOING ON, AND THEN ONCE IT'S READY TO GO IN A YEAR, THEN THE WHOLE PROGRAM WILL BE BACK IN IN FULL FORCE.

SO YOU SEE THE DATES THAT WE HAVE THERE.

WE'RE GOING TO BE PUSHING HARD TO JULY 15 TO MAKE SURE THE INSIDE IS ALL CLEANED OUT AND READY TO GO FOR THE CONSTRUCTION.

OKAY. HERE YOU HAVE A SCHEDULE, PROJECT SCHEDULE WHERE WE WILL DO THE PLANNING OF THE PROJECT.

WE HAVE A DESIGN AND THEN WE'LL GO THROUGH THE PERMITTING AND PROCUREMENT PROCESS, OUR CONSTRUCTION TIMELINE AS ISSUED AND NOTICE TO PROCEED IN NOVEMBER AT THE END OF THIS YEAR, THE DURATION OF CONSTRUCTION ON THIS PROJECT, YOU MIGHT SAY, WELL, THAT'S A LONG TIME TO CONSTRUCT A GREENHOUSE.

IT ACTUALLY IS BECAUSE THE GREENHOUSE ITSELF IS GOING TO BE A THIRD PARTY, CUSTOMIZED GREENHOUSE.

THAT'S HOW YOU TYPICALLY BUILD A GREENHOUSE.

IT'S GOING TO BE THIRD PARTY CUSTOMIZED.

A LOT OF THIS TIME IS GOING TO BE WAITING FOR THE MATERIALS TO ACTUALLY BE DELIVERED AND INSTALLED.

SO THAT'S THE REASON THAT THE CONSTRUCTION TIMELINE IS SO LONG.

BUT WE'RE LOOKING AT COMPLETING THIS AROUND JULY OF NEXT YEAR.

COMMUNITY MEMBERS QUESTIONS? THIS WILL BE AN ACTION ITEM ON THE JUNE BOARD MEETING.

THANK YOU, GENTLEMEN. IS THERE A NEED, DR.

LOPEZ, FOR EXECUTIVE SESSION? NO. SO JUST A REMINDER, THE ACTION ITEMS THAT WE'RE BRINGING FORTH IS IN ACTION ITEM SIX IN OUR PRINTED AGENDA.

ACTION ITEMS LISTED UNDER A ONE AND TWO THAT WE WILL BE VOTING ON IS THEIR CALL FOR ADJOURNMENT

[VIII. Adjournment]

[00:55:01]

AT 3:55.

AND THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENDANCE AND YOUR PARTICIPATION.
