[IV.C. Introduction of District Administrator]
INTRODUCTION OF DISTRICT ADMINISTRATOR DR.GOOD EVENING. PRESIDENT JOHNSON, BOARD OF TRUSTEES AND SUPERINTENDENT LOPEZ.
[00:20:03]
IT IS MY PLEASURE TO INTRODUCE TO YOU THIS EVENING MR. FRANCISCO BAYARDO, BETTER KNOWN AS FRANK BAYARDO . YOU DIDN'T KNOW THAT WAS YOU? IT WAS. FRANK COMES TO US FROM THE NORTH SIDE, AND I JUST TURNED MY THING OFF.HE RECEIVED HIS BACHELOR'S AND HIS MASTER'S DEGREE FROM TEXAS A&M UNIVERSITY IN KINGSVILLE.
AND HE HAS OVER 15 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE IN SCHOOL MAINTENANCE, PLANNING AND CONSTRUCTION, GENERAL CONTRACTING AND PROJECT MANAGEMENT.
HIS WIFE, CINDY, TEACHES FIRST GRADE IN NORTHSIDE ISD, BUT SHE'S ON THE WAY TO GARLAND ISD AND HE HAS TWO SONS. MR. BAYARDO FOCUSES ON EMPOWERING AND UPLIFTING EMPLOYEES WHILE CREATING A COMPLETE TRANSPARENCY AND ACCOUNTABILITY. ONE OF THE HIGHLIGHTS OF HIS CAREER IS SEEING HIS EMPLOYEES GROW AND SUCCEED.
I INTRODUCE TO YOU BOARD OF TRUSTEES AND TO OUR COMMUNITY, MR. FRANK BAYARDO.
SHE DID A REALLY GOOD JOB WITH THAT LAST NAME.
IT'S VERY HARD. I WALK AROUND JUST SAYING FRANK BAYARDO, SO IT MAKES IT A LOT EASIER.
I SAID IT LAST TIME I WAS UP HERE.
I FEEL SO HONORED AND BLESSED.
THIS JOB HAS JUST BROUGHT ME SO MUCH JOY AND SO MUCH HAPPINESS IN MY SHORT TIME HERE.
THIS IS THE PLACE TO COME [APPLAUSE].
IT IS. I'M HAPPY AND EXCITED TO CALL THIS PLACE MY HOME.
AND I'VE JUST WORKED WITH SUCH AMAZING PEOPLE.
AND I'M JUST AGAIN, JUST HUMBLED AND EXCITED TO BE HERE, GARLAND ISD.
OH, THERE YOU GO. WE WILL TURN OUR ATTENTION TO OUR DISCUSSION ITEMS AS OUR PRESIDENT RESUMES HIS SEAT. YES.
NEXT UP IS DISCUSSION ON FIVE A DISCUSS LOCAL POLICIES FROM TASB UPDATE 120 FIRST READ LISA RAY.
[V.A. Discuss Local Policies from TASB Update 120 (First Read)]
GOOD EVENING. PRESIDENT JOHNSON.THE POLICY ADVISORY GROUP MET ON JANUARY 7TH, 2023.
AND THERE WERE 28 LEGAL POLICIES.
THERE WERE FOUR LOCAL POLICIES.
THIS POLICY WAS REVIEWED AND VETTED BY DR.
SHELLEY GARRETT, FO LOCAL AND FMG LOCAL, WHICH INCLUDES STUDENT DISCIPLINE, STUDENT AND PARENT COMPLAINTS WHICH WERE VETTED AND REVIEWED BY MS. MARY GARCIA.
AND FINALLY EC LOCAL, WHICH IS REGARDING THE SCHOOL DAY, WHICH WAS VETTED BY DR.
THERE'S ALSO A MANILA FOLDER AT YOUR DESK OR CHAIR WHERE IT OUTLINES THE CHANGES THAT WERE INCLUDED BY THE LOCAL POLICIES IN COLOR.
AGAIN, NEW LANGUAGE IS IN BLUE, RED LANGUAGE IS DELETED TEXT AND GREEN LANGUAGE IS MOVED TEXTS FROM FROM ONE PART OF THE POLICY TO ANOTHER.
THAT'S FIRST READ ON THOSE POLICIES.
SO LET'S MOVE ON TO DISCUSSION ITEMS FIVE B DISCUSS LEGAL POLICIES FROM TASB UPDATE 120 MS.
[V.B. Discuss Legal Policies from TASB Update 120]
RAY.YES, THIS IS FOR THE BOARD TO REVIEW.
THERE WERE 28 LEGAL POLICIES AND THIS IS A CULMINATION FROM THE 87TH LEGISLATURE AND ALSO ANY CHANGES THAT WERE IMPLEMENTED BY THE TEXAS ADMINISTRATIVE CODE.
AND AGAIN, THESE WERE ALSO REVIEWED BY THE POLICY ADVISORY COMMITTEE.
[00:25:06]
VERY GOOD. AND NEXT, THERE'S GOING TO BE DISCUSSION FIVE C DISCUSS REVISIONS TO BOARD POLICY BE LOCAL FIRST READ, MRS[V.C. Discuss Revisions to Board Policy BE(LOCAL) First Read]
. RAY. YES, SIR. THESE AGAIN, WERE ALSO REVIEWED BY THE POLICY ADVISORY COMMITTEE MEETING.AND THIS IS JUST TO STREAMLINE OUR BOARD MEETINGS AND ALSO ALIGN IT TO THE LEGAL POLICY.
ONE OF THE CHANGES WAS THE SCHEDULE MEETING DATE.
WHICH MEETING TIME EXCUSE ME, WHICH IN THE POLICY IT SAID 6 P.M..
WE HAVE SINCE NOW MOVED TO 5 P.M..
BY LAW, TEXAS GOVERNMENT CODE, A DISTRICT CAN EITHER TRANSCRIBE MINUTES AND HAVE IT APPROVED BY THE BOARD, OR THEY CAN HAVE A LEGAL RECORDING, WHICH WE DO BY OUR SWAGIT COMPANY.
SO IT JUST ALIGNS OUR PRACTICE WITH THE POLICY.
THE POLICY IS ALIGNED NOW WITH THE PRACTICE.
AND AGAIN, THIS IS FOR FIRST READ SIR.
QUESTIONS WITH RESPECT TO THAT? ALL RIGHT, MOVING ON TO FIVE D, DISCUSS REVISIONS TO BOARD POLICY CFC LOCAL FIRST READ LISA RAY.
[V.D. Discuss Revisions to Board Policy CFC(LOCAL) First Read]
YES, SIR. THE BOARD HAD AN INTERNAL AUDIT ADVISORY GROUP DISCUSSION AT THE SECOND THURSDAY IN DECEMBER, AND WITH THAT OUR CONTRACTED AUDITING FIRM, GIBSON CONSULTING HAD DESIRE TO ALIGN THE POLICY, AND CFC IS THE AUDITING POLICY TO ALIGN THEIR PRACTICES WITH THE AUDITING POLICY. AND SO THOSE CHANGES ARE NOTED IN THE FIRST PAGE WERE BASICALLY IT WAS A LITTLE BIT OF MINOR REVISION AS FAR AS OUTLINING WHAT THE ACTUAL LAW.SO THEY NOTED TEXAS EDUCATION CODE SECTION 11.170.
THE FACT THAT THE BOARD HAS CHOSEN TO CONTRACT WITH AN OUTSIDE FIRM, THEY CLARIFIED TO SAY GARLAND ISD BOARD OF TRUSTEES RATHER THAN TRUSTEES, AND THEY OUTLINED WHAT THEIR SCOPE OF WORK WOULD BE WITH THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES.
AGAIN, THIS IS FOR FIRST READ, SIR.
ANY QUESTIONS WITH RESPECT TO THAT? THANK YOU, MRS. RAY. THANK YOU.
NEXT ITEM IS GOING TO BE ON THE AGENDA IS ITEM E TRUSTEE'S REPORT.
[V.E. Trustees' Report]
I'M GOING TO START ON THE LEFT WITH MR. GLICK. THANK YOU, SIR.THIS LAST WEEKEND, WE ALL HAD THE PRIVILEGE OTHER THAN MR. MILLER, WHO WAS ILL OF BEING PARTICIPATING IN THE MLK PARADE.
I THINK IT WAS. IT WAS A GREAT DAY.
THE WEATHER WAS ACCOMMODATING AND THE CANDY WAS FLOWING.
SO I THINK WE ALL HAD A GOOD TIME.
AND I'D LIKE TO THANK ALL THE ORGANIZERS FOR GETTING THE PARADE.
THE ROWLETT CHAMBER HAD ITS ANNUAL RETREAT.
THIS WAS JUST A ONE DAY RETREAT RATHER THAN THE TWO DAYS WE'VE HAD IN THE PAST.
THREE MAJOR TOPICS WE DISCUSSED THERE WERE THE NEW DOWNTOWN PLAN, WHICH IS EXPANDED, AND THERE'S A NEW DOWNTOWN MANAGER, THE NORTH SHORE DISTRICT, WHICH IS 1700 ACRES.
GISD HAS ABOUT 95 ACRES IN THE NORTH SHORE DISTRICT.
AND FINALLY, WE HAD A REPORT ON SAPPHIRE BAY.
THIS IS THE LAND THAT USED TO BE ELGIN ROBERTSON PARK.
WE, THE CITY OF ROWLETT, BOUGHT IT FROM THE CITY OF DALLAS AFTER THEY D PARKED IT.
THERE'S DEVELOPMENT CALLED BAYSIDE ON THE NORTH AND SAPPHIRE BAY ON THE SOUTH.
AND SAPPHIRE BAY HAS POTENTIALLY OVER $1,000,000,000 OF DEVELOPMENT COMING VERY SOON.
SO THAT WILL BE A MAJOR, MAJOR ATTRACTION FOR THE FOR THIS METROPLEX.
FINALLY, TWO WEEKS AGO, REALLY INTERESTING.
I WENT TO THE NATATORIUM AND THE PARKING LOT WAS JUST ABOUT FULL.
IT WAS THE OLYMPIC DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM FOR WATER POLO PUT ON BY USA WATER POLO, AND IT WAS FULL AND WE WERE USING THREE DIFFERENT POOLS. THERE WERE KIDS THERE FROM LITERALLY EVERY STATE OTHER THAN HAWAII, WHICH HAD THEIR OWN TRYOUTS IN
[00:30:09]
CALIFORNIA. SO 48 OTHER STATES WERE IN THE METROPLEX, A GOOD PORTION OF THEM AT OUR POOL TRYING OUT FOR FUTURE OLYMPIC WATER POLO TEAM.WHOEVER THOUGHT? SO NOW, NOT ONLY GETTING THE REVENUES FROM BRINGING IN WATER POLO AND NATIONAL WATER POLO CONTEST, BUT NOW UIL HAS CALLED WATER POLO AN ACTUAL SPORT.
AND WE'RE HOPING TO HAVE TEAMS AT EACH OF OUR HIGH SCHOOLS COME NEXT YEAR.
AND THEN EVEN MORE INTERESTING WAS THAT IN TWO WEEKS WE'RE GOING TO BE HOSTING THE SOUTHERN COLLEGIATE ATHLETIC CONFERENCE, MEN'S AND WOMEN'S SWIMMING AND DIVING.
IF YOU EVER GO TO THE NATATORIUM, YOU'LL SEE TWO DIFFERENT SETS OF DIVING BOARDS.
BUT THE REASON WE PUT THE BIG ONE IN IS SPECIFICALLY TO BE ABLE TO HOLD COLLEGIATE EVENTS.
AND NOW WE'VE ATTRACTED A MAJOR COLLEGIATE CONFERENCE TO COME.
THANK YOU, SIR. MS. STANLEY. YES.
I'D LIKE TO THANK EVERYONE WHO HAS GIVEN US CARDS AND GIFTS FOR THE APPRECIATION.
I'M HUMBLED BY IT AND I JUST WANT EVERYONE TO KNOW.
THANK YOU. I GOT TO ATTEND THE WENT TO CHICAGO TO WATCH THE AUSTIN ACADEMY EIGHTH GRADERS.
EIGHTH GRADERS. I STILL CAN'T GET OVER THAT.
THEY'RE EIGHTH GRADERS. THEY DON'T PLAY LIKE EIGHTH GRADERS.
AND THEY PUT ON AN AMAZING PERFORMANCE.
BUT I JUST WANT TO KIND OF HIGHLIGHT WHAT KIND OF SPEAKS TO OUR DISTRICT.
SO WHAT THE PEOPLE, THE YOUNG PEOPLE THAT ACTUALLY THE TAPE THAT THEY SUBMITTED IN TO WIN TO GET THIS INVITATIONAL WAS ACTUALLY LAST YEAR'S EIGHTH GRADERS.
IT WASN'T THE EIGHTH GRADERS OF THIS YEAR THAT PLAYED.
AND SO BEING THE THE DISTRICT THAT WE ARE WITH THE PEOPLE THAT WE HAVE, THEY ACTUALLY HAD THE NINTH GRADERS COME TO CHICAGO AND PLAY IN THAT INVITATIONAL.
THEY DIDN'T PLAY THE WHOLE THEY KIND OF SWITCHED IT OUT.
AND TO ME, THAT JUST SPEAKS TO WHY WHY WE LOVE THE GISD AND WHY AND WHY WE LOVE THIS AREA IS BECAUSE IT'S THAT KIND OF STUFF THAT THOSE NINTH GRADERS COULD HAVE VERY EASILY, JUSTIFIABLY BEEN LEFT OUT FROM THIS GREAT EXPERIENCE, AND THEY WEREN'T.
SO I JUST WANT TO SAY THANK YOU TO THE FINE ARTS TEAM THAT RECOGNIZED THAT.
AND I HAVE TO TELL YOU TO SIT IN A I'M NOT SURE IF IT WAS AN AUDITORIUM.
THEY'RE SMALL, SO IT'S A LITTLE HARD FOR ME.
BUT AND WATCH THE EACH GRADE SAT IN AN AREA AND THEY EACH HAD A PERFORMANCE TO PLAY IN THIS PIECE CONCERT WITH THE MESSAGE JUST ABOUT BEING KIND TO PEOPLE, REALLY.
AND MISS SCHINDLER, THE CHOIR DIRECTOR, JUST DOES AN AMAZING JOB.
BUT REALLY, AGAIN, WHAT HIGHLIGHTS OUR DISTRICT IS THAT THERE WAS A REPRESENTATIVE THERE FROM REGION TEN TO WATCH THE CONCERT, AND SHE WAS TELLING ME HOW THEY USE MRS. SCHINDLER'S PROGRAM TO TEACH OTHER PEOPLE WITHIN OTHER SCHOOL DISTRICTS A SUCCESSFUL PROGRAM.
AND AGAIN, THAT JUST SPEAKS IT JUST SPEAKS VOLUMES.
AND THESE KIDS DID AN AMAZING JOB.
EVEN THE PRE K, THEY MAY NOT HAVE SAT THE WHOLE TIME, BUT THEIR HEART WAS WAS IN IT THE RIGHT WAY.
AND THEN I DID GET TO GO TO THE LUNAR NEW YEAR CELEBRATION THAT WAS HELD AT CALI SAIGON.
AND I ACTUALLY GOT TO LIGHT SOME OF THE FIRECRACKERS.
I'M NOT GOING TO REPEAT SOME OF THE EVENTS THAT HAVE ALREADY BEEN STATED, BUT IT IS INDEED A GREAT PLEASURE TO SERVE A DISTRICT WHERE, IF WE USE WHAT THE RECOGNITION OF SCHOOL BOARD MONTH THEME IS FORWARD TOGETHER GISD
[00:35:04]
WE ARE MOVING FORWARD TOGETHER.I ALSO ECHO THE COMMENTS MADE BY MY FELLOW TRUSTEES ABOUT THE APPRECIATION TO EVERYONE IN THE DISTRICT THAT HAS SHOWN US SOME LOVE. JUST REALLY APPRECIATE THAT.
I'LL KEEP IT HERE ON MY MY, MY, MY STATION HERE.
LIKE MS. STANLEY, I ALSO ATTENDED THE MIDWEST CLINIC IN CHICAGO.
WHAT I DIDN'T REALIZE WAS I THINK THAT THE AUSTIN ACADEMY JAZZ ENSEMBLE WAS THE ONLY MIDDLE SCHOOL JAZZ ENSEMBLE THAT PERFORMED AT MID WEST MIDWEST CLINIC. IT WAS REALLY INTERESTING.
AS WE WERE GOING INTO THE VENUE, IT WAS REALLY TUCKED WAY OUT OF THE WAY, AND I REMEMBER HEARING ONE OF THE COMMENTS MADE BY ONE OF THE STAFF MEMBERS THERE SAYING, I DON'T KNOW IF YOU GUYS ARE GOING TO GET THAT MANY PEOPLE COMING TO WATCH THE PERFORMANCE.
AND SO THAT WAS A TESTAMENT TO MISS WILSON AND MR. FIGARELLI, YOU KNOW, ALL OF THE WORK THAT YOU GUYS PUT TOGETHER TO MAKE THIS A SUCCESSFUL PERFORMANCE AND EVENT FOR EVERYBODY THAT WAS THERE.
WE EVEN HAD TWO PROFESSIONAL MUSICIANS THAT ACCOMPANIED SOME OF THE NUMBERS.
FOUR ARE WITH THE JAZZ ENSEMBLE, AND ONE OF WHICH WAS A FORMER GISD STUDENT.
SO THAT WAS REALLY COOL TO SEE.
AND THEN, AS ALWAYS, THE MLK PARADE IS ALWAYS A JOY TO BE IN AND A LOT, A LOT OF FUN.
SO THANK YOU. MR. BEACH. THANK YOU, MR. JOHNSON. I, TOO, AM VERY HUMBLED BY THE OUTPOUR OF LOVE THAT I RECEIVED AND THE GIFTS FROM EVERYBODY IN ALL THE SCHOOLS.
FOLKS I SERVED BECAUSE IT'S A LABOR OF LOVE THAT I HAVE FOR THIS SCHOOL DISTRICT.
I'VE BEEN IN THE TRENCHES. I'VE BEEN A TEACHER, COACH, ADMINISTRATOR, AND TEACHERS.
AND IT'S TOUGH AND IT DOESN'T GET ANY EASIER EACH DAY.
WE'RE GEARED TO MAKE THAT EXCITING FOR YOU AND WE'RE GOING TO.
BUT I DO WANT TO MENTION ONE THING THAT I DID GO TO, AND I FEEL LIKE IT'S NECESSARY.
SO I WANTED TO RECOGNIZE HIM AND HIS WIFE AND WHAT THEY GAVE TO THIS COMMUNITY.
NO DIFFERENT FROM EVERYBODY THAT'S SITTING ON THIS BOARD RIGHT NOW.
SO LET'S HAVE A GREAT YEAR OF 2023.
I LOOK FORWARD TO THE THINGS THAT ARE GOING TO GREAT THINGS THAT ARE GOING TO TAKE PLACE.
AND IT'S ALL BECAUSE OF THE TEACHERS AND THE LEADERSHIP THAT'S OUT THERE IN THE BUILDINGS.
LET'S MAKE GOOD THINGS HAPPEN.
WELL, I HOPE EVERYONE HAD A WONDERFUL HOLIDAY BREAK.
THIS IS OUR FIRST FULL BOARD MEETING SINCE WE'VE RESUMED CLASSES.
I KNOW I ENJOYED, AS I ALWAYS DO, THE MLK PARADE, AND AT LEAST IT WASN'T EXTREMELY COLD.
IT WAS JUST KIND OF BRISK AND COOL.
I'M GLAD THAT THE WEATHER COOPERATED WITH US.
IT WAS ALSO MY ESTEEMED PRIVILEGE TO GO SEE THE ALL REGION BAND CONCERT ON FRIDAY NIGHT AT POTEET HIGH SCHOOL FOR THE REGION. AND LET ME TELL YOU, ALL THE KIDS DID AMAZING JOBS AT THAT LIKE THEY DID.
I MEAN, WE HEARD THE AUSTIN ACADEMY BANDS ARE OUR BAND PROGRAMS IN THIS DISTRICT ARE OUTSTANDING.
AND IT REALLY IS STARTING TO SHOW NATIONALLY AT THIS POINT.
LARRY HAS BEEN TRUMPETING THEM FOR YEARS.
AND NOW HE'S GOT A BUNCH OF PEOPLE SINGING ALONGSIDE OF HIM.
SO ACTUALLY TROMBONING THEM TROMBONE.
OBVIOUSLY, WE HAVE BIG THINGS THAT HAVE BEEN ACCOMPLISHED IN THE GISD TODAY.
[00:40:01]
RECOMMENDATIONS OF THE BOND STUDY COMMITTEE EARLIER TODAY.SO THERE ARE EXCITING THINGS COMING WITH RESPECT TO THAT IN THE COMING MONTHS, YOU'RE GOING TO HAVE EVERY CHANCE TO ANSWER EVERY QUESTION YOU WANT ABOUT WHAT'S IN THE PROPOSED BOND PACKAGE, WHAT'S NOT IN THE PROPOSED BOND PACKAGE, AND WHAT THE IMPACT IS GOING TO BE TO NOT ONLY YOUR FINANCES, BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY TO OUR KIDS AND THE OUTCOMES THAT WE EXPECT FROM THE EDUCATION THAT WE'RE GOING TO BE PROVIDING FOR THEM.
AND, YOU KNOW, THERE'S GOING TO BE A LOT OF WORK BETWEEN NOW AND MAY, BUT WE TOOK THE FIRST BIG STEP TODAY AND AND WE'LL TAKE THE FINAL STEP IN MAY ON THAT.
AND ANY TIME ANYBODY IN THE COMMUNITY WANTS TO KNOW MORE ABOUT IT, WE'RE ALL HERE FOR YOU.
[V.F. Superintendent's Report]
NO FURTHER ADO, DR.LOPEZ. YOUR SUPERINTENDENTS REPORT.
WELL, HAPPY BOARD APPRECIATION MONTH.
THIS WAS THE KICKOFF FOR FOR THE PEOPLE THAT ARE TUNING IN.
AND BECAUSE WE'RE SUCH A BIG DISTRICT WITH SO MANY PROGRAMS AND SO MUCH EXCELLENCE, IT REALLY GETS TO HIGHLIGHT THE EXCELLENCE OF EACH AND EVERY AND THE UNIQUENESS OF EACH AND EVERY CAMPUS.
WHAT PEOPLE NEED TO UNDERSTAND IS THE BOARD GOES THROUGH EVERYTHING AND THEY DON'T JUST LIKE PASS OVER IT, THEY READ IT, THEY INTERNALIZE IT, THEY SHARE IT, THEY TALK ABOUT IT.
RIGHT. BUT THIS CAME THIS WAS THE GENESIS OF OF A STUDENT AND AN INSTRUCTOR AND EVERYTHING ELSE.
AND EVERY SCHOOL THAT SCORES AN A AND B IN THEIR DISTRICT GETS A PIN.
THE NAME OF THE SCHOOL IS ON IT.
AND UNDERNEATH YOU'LL SEE STARS.
AND THE STARS ARE THE AMOUNT OF DISTINCTIONS THAT THESE SCHOOLS EARN.
A DISTINCTION STAR IS EARNED BY BEING IN THE TOP TIER OF YOUR COMPARISON GROUP.
SO, FOR INSTANCE, NORTH GARLAND GOT AN A AND ALL OF THEIR STARS.
SCHOOLS THAT HAVE THE SAME DEMOGRAPHIC PATTERN ACROSS THE STATE NORTH GARLAND IS COMPARED TO AND SOME OF THESE ARE TOP TIER SCHOOLS AND TO BE TOP TIER THAT MEANS YOU'RE IN THE TOP QUARTER AND YOU GET A STAR IF YOU'RE UP THERE.
THEY WERE A STAR IN EVERY CATEGORY.
SACHSE HIGH SCHOOL, HIGH SCHOOL.
THEIR COMPARISON GROUP IS VERY DIFFERENT THAN OTHERS, AND IT'S A VERY HIGH PERFORMING GROUP.
ALTHOUGH WHILE THEY GOT THEY FELL JUST SHORT OF AN A, THEY GOT ALL SEVEN STARS, ALL SEVEN.
SO WE'VE GOT SCHOOLS THAT ARE COMPETING AT THE HIGHEST LEVELS.
AND SO WHEN YOU SEE PEOPLE WEAR THESE PINS, THIS IS THE PORT BOARD OF PRIDE.
THIS IS THE BOARD'S WAY OF KNOWING HOW MANY GOLD AND SILVER STANDARDS WE HAVE.
AND WE LOOK TO INCREASE THEM EACH AND EVERY YEAR.
THE HOLIDAY SEASON WAS A GREAT ONE.
AND I WANT TO COMMEND THE BOARD FOR GETTING OUR STUDENTS BACK SAFELY.
THE BOARD DID A LOT OF VISIONARY THINGS PRIOR TO THAT HAPPENING AND JUST TO BE ABLE TO SEND SOME KIDS OUT FOR THE EXPERIENCE IS REALLY A LOT OF SUPPORT BECAUSE IT'S NOT ONLY THE FUNDING, BUT IT'S IT'S UNDERSTANDING WHEN IT'S HAPPENING DURING THE HOLIDAYS AND EVERYTHING ELSE.
BUT UNBEKNOWNST TO US, THE ALSO THE SOUTHWEST AIRLINES WAS GOING TO EXPERIENCE A SHORTFALL WITH WITH ALL OF THEIR FLIGHTS IN SPITE.
EVEN IF EVEN IF THAT NEVER HAPPENED, THAT WAS HAPPENING AS WELL.
A LOT OF PEOPLE WERE TELLING US NO, AND WE DIDN'T ACCEPT NO'S AND ANSWER.
AND THAT'S THESE ARE TYPES OF THINGS THAT NOBODY SEES.
IT'S DURING THE HOLIDAYS AND THE LOVE AND PASSION THAT COMES FROM FROM FROM OUR BOARD.
AND SO I JUST WANT TO WISH YOU GUYS A GREAT, GREAT ANOTHER YEAR AS WE MOVE FORWARD.
WE HAVE A LOT OF INSPIRING THINGS.
WE JUST START ABOUT A BOND PACKAGE THAT'S EXCITING BOARD PLANNING, ALL THE VISIONS THAT COME WITH WITH BEING A COMPREHENSIVE BOARD, I REALLY FEEL THAT 2023 IS OURS TO GRAB, SO LET'S GO AFTER IT.
AND WITH THAT, I'LL TURN IT BACK TO MR. JOHNSON. ONE MORE THING, SIR.
[00:45:01]
I KEEP GETTING TEXT.YES, THERE IS SCHOOL TOMORROW, SO I JUST WANT TO MAKE IT CLEAR SCHOOL IS PLANNED FOR TOMORROW.
I DIDN'T REALIZE THAT WAS EVEN.
BUT HEY, I KNOW ANYTIME MY KIDS ARE ALWAYS HOPEFUL, SO THEY ALWAYS GOT THAT HOPE.
I TOLD THEM I DISABUSED THEM OF THAT NOTION YESTERDAY.
I WAS LIKE, I THINK THE LOW TEMPERATURE IS 35 DEGREES.
WE'RE OUT OF SCHOOL. ALL RIGHT.
[V.G. Future Agenda Items]
G. FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS. DOES ANYBODY HAVE A FUTURE AGENDA ITEM THEY WISH TO DECLARE AT THIS POINT? MR. GLICK? THANK YOU, SIR. LAST YEAR I WAS A LITTLE LATE IN DISCOVERING THAT WE WEREN'T GOING TO BE CONTINUING THE PROGRAM I THINK WE HAD DONE FOR SIX SUCCESSIVE SUMMERS THE SCHOLASTIC READING PROGRAM.BY THE TIME I FOUND OUT ABOUT IT, I THINK THE DECISION HAD ALREADY BEEN MADE.
I WOULD LIKE US TO RETHINK THAT AS WE GO INTO THE BUDGET CYCLE THIS YEAR.
THERE'S A DOCUMENT THAT HELPS THEM WORK WITH THEIR PARENTS.
I THINK YOU ALL KNOW HIM, A VERY AVID READER, TRYING TO READ AT LEAST A BOOK A WEEK.
AND I KNOW THAT MAY BE OLD FASHIONED PEOPLE ACTUALLY TAKING A BOOK IN THEIR HAND, BUT THE IDEA OF A PARENT AND A CHILD READING TOGETHER I THINK IS A WONDERFUL, WONDERFUL BONDING OPPORTUNITY.
I KNOW THE ISSUE WAS THAT EVERYBODY HAS COMPUTERS SO WE CAN USE OUR OTHER SOURCES.
I THINK THAT WAS A PROGRAM THAT WE SHOULD NEVER HAVE STOPPED AND I HOPE WE RECONSIDER IT THIS YEAR.
THANK YOU, SIR. YOU SAY YOU WOULD LIKE THAT ADDED TO A FUTURE AGENDA? YES, SIR. ALL RIGHT.
THE NEXT ITEM IS GOING TO BE SIX CONSENT AGENDA.
