THE AUDITS TEST WHETHER A CAMPUS IS ACCESSIBLE TO AN UNAUTHORIZED INDIVIDUAL.
THIS AUDIT SEEKS TO HELP PROTECT.
WE ARE WORKING CLOSELY WITH OUR DISTRICT SCHOOL SAFETY AND SECURITY COMMITTEE TO ENSURE THAT WE ARE TRAINING ALL OUR STAFF AND SECURING OUR DOORS FOR THE PROTECTION OF EVERYONE AT OUR CAMPUSES.
WE KNOW THAT THIS WORK DOES NOT END AND WE APPRECIATE THE BOARD'S SUPPORT.
HOWEVER, IT IS IN THE BEST INTEREST OF THE STUDENTS THAT WE DO NOT SHARE THIS INFORMATION TO THE BROADER PUBLIC AS IT COULD LEAD TO COMPROMISING IMPORTANT CAMPUS SECURITY INFORMATION. SPECIFIC DETAILS OF THE INTRUDER DETECTION AUDIT WILL BE DISCUSSED IN THE EXECUTIVE SESSION AND WITH THE SAFETY AND SECURITY COMMITTEE.

MS. GRIFFIN. I AM ABSTAINING FROM THIS VOTE.
THANK YOU. OKAY, SO THAT IS SIX WITH ONE ABSTENTION.
SO THOSE THAT WILL COMPLETE THE ITEMS ON OUR CONSENT AGENDA.
NOW WE'RE MOVING TO ITEM EIGHT, AND THE FIRST ONE IS TO CONSIDER REVISION OF
[VIII.A. Consider Approval of Revisions to Board Policy CV (LOCAL)]
POLICY BOARD POLICY CV(LOCAL).NOTHING HAS CHANGED FROM WHEN WE.
IS THIS A NOTHING HAS CHANGED FROM WHEN IT WAS PRESENTED TO US IN THE PREVIOUS.
OKAY. ALL RIGHT, SO AT YOUR STATIONS, TRUSTEES, PLEASE OPEN YOUR FOLDER AS MISS RAY TAKES US THROUGH. THANK YOU, MISS RAY.
GOOD EVENING. BOARD PRESIDENT, MISS GRIFFIN, RESPECTED TRUSTEES.
DOCTOR LOPEZ AS MISS GRIFFIN REFERENCED IN YOUR MANILA FOLDER, IS THE CHANGE THAT WE IMPLEMENTED FROM OUR FIRST READ, AND IF YOU LOOK ON THAT FIRST PAGE UNDER CHANGE ORDERS, THAT WAS THE CHANGE THAT MR. JOHNSON HAD REFERENCED.
WHERE IT STARTS IN THIS POLICY IN THAT BLUE LANGUAGE HE HAD INDICATED IN THE BOARD AGREED THAT IT WOULD BE BEST REFLECTED BY SAYING MEANS ANY CHANGE TO THE CONTRACT SUM NOT TO EXCEED 10% OF THE CONTRACTED FOR CONSTRUCTION COST, CONTRACT TIME, OR CONSTRUCTION DOCUMENTS APPROVED BY THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OR THE SUPERINTENDENT, AND SO I WANTED YOU TO HAVE THAT BEFORE YOU.
SO YOU KNOW, THAT CHANGE WAS IMPLEMENTED BECAUSE IN YOUR NOTEBOOKS, YOU'LL ONLY SEE THE FINAL.
SO I JUST WANTED TO LET YOU KNOW THAT, AGAIN, THIS POLICY IS TO ALLOW ADMINISTRATION TO EFFICIENTLY UTILIZE CHANGE ORDERS AND CONSTRUCTION CONTINGENCY FUND, AND THIS IS FOR SECOND READ.
IF MAYBE I CAN DIRECT IT TO DOCTOR LOPEZ.
DID WE DECIDE OR DID WE VOTE ON A PARTICULAR PERCENTAGE AS FAR AS THE AMOUNT OF THE CONTINGENCY FUND ON EACH PROJECT, OR WILL THEY BE DIFFERENT? EACH PROJECT HAS ITS OWN COST FOR CONTINGENCIES BECAUSE OF THE SIZE, THE SCOPE, EVERYTHING CHANGES.
SO EACH ONE MIGHT BE 3%, ONE MIGHT BE FIVE, ONE MIGHT BE TEN, SOMETHING LIKE THAT.
IS THAT CORRECT? IT WOULDN'T BE LIKE THAT, BUT YOU KNOW, LIKE THERE'S SOME MATERIAL ASPECTS THAT GO INTO IT, BUT WHAT THIS IS SAYING IS WHEN THESE MATERIAL COST COMES, IF IT'S WITHIN THE CONTINGENCY, THEN WE SHOULD BE ABLE TO PROVE IT AND THEN YOU GUYS WILL BE NOTIFIED.
THAT'S IT. PERFECT. THANK YOU.
ARE THERE ANY OTHER QUESTIONS? THERE ARE NO QUESTIONS. I JUST WANT TO CLARIFY.
WE'RE GOING TO TAKE ACTION TONIGHT.
THERE WILL BE NO ADDITIONAL REVISIONS ALLOWED PAST THIS POINT.
I WAS, YEAH, GETTING READY TO DO THAT.
OKAY, SO, TRUSTEES, THIS IS FOR APPROVAL TONIGHT.
WITH THE MODIFICATIONS THAT'S IN YOUR FOLDER, I WILL NOW ENTERTAIN A MOTION.
YES. OKAY. MADAM PRESIDENT, A MOTION TO APPROVE THE REVISIONS TO BOARD POLICY CV.
[00:20:01]
IS THERE A SECOND? SECOND. IT'S BEEN PROPERLY MOVED, AND SECOND, THAT WE ACCEPT THE REVISION TO BOARD POLICY CV(LOCAL) MOTION BY MR. GLICK. SECOND BY MR. SELDERS. ARE WE READY TO VOTE? ALL IN FAVOR, IF YOU'D RAISE YOUR HANDS.THANK YOU. THAT PASSES SEVEN ZERO.
B IS TO CONSIDER APPROVAL OF REVISIONS TO POLICY BOARD POLICY DBA(LOCAL).
[VIII.B. Consider Approval of Revisions to Board Policy DBA (LOCAL)]
MISS RAY.YES. PRESIDENT GRIFFIN, TRUSTEES, AND DOCTOR LOPEZ, THIS POLICY, THERE WERE NO CHANGES FROM THE FIRST READ FROM LAST MONTH. AGAIN, THIS IS WHERE THE ADMINISTRATION DESIRES TO ALIGN THIS POLICY WITH THE DISTRICT'S INNOVATION PLAN AND WITH THE CURRENT RECRUITMENT AND SCREENING PROCESSES. ARE THERE ANY QUESTIONS? I'LL ENTERTAIN A MOTION.
IS THERE A SECOND? SECOND? IT'S BEEN PROPERLY MOVED BY MISS STANLEY.
ANY DISCUSSIONS? ANY QUESTIONS? WE'RE READY FOR THE VOTE.
IF YOU'D RAISE YOUR HANDS, WE'LL.
THANK YOU. TRUSTEES, THAT PASSES 7 TO 0.
MISS RAY, YOU'RE STILL UP TO CONSIDER.
MISS GRIFFIN. YES. JUST REAL QUICK.
YES. YOU SAID, ARE WE READY TO VOTE BUT YOU DIDN'T SAY ALL IN FAVOR, RAISE THEIR HAND.
OKAY, WELL, MAYBE I CAN GO BACK AND SAY.
JUST CLARIFY THAT WE VOTED TO APPROVE.
THANK YOU. CONSIDER APPROVAL OF REVISION TO BOARD POLICY DBA(LOCAL).
WE HAD A MOTION BY MISS STANLEY, A SECOND BY MR. GLICK. ARE YOU READY TO VOTE? IF YOU ARE, WOULD YOU PLEASE RAISE YOUR HANDS FOR APPROVAL? BUT IS IT APPROVAL IS IN THE LANGUAGE.
BOARD MEMBERS SEVEN ZERO OKAY.
SIX. CONSIDER APPROVAL OF REVISIONS TO BOARD POLICY DIA(LOCAL).
[VIII.C. Consider Approval of Revisions to Board Policy DIA (LOCAL)]
MISS RAY. YES.GOOD EVENING, PRESIDENT GRIFFIN TRUSTEES.
WHICH IS WHERE THE ADMINISTRATION DESIRES TO ALIGN THE POLICY WITH CURRENT RECRUITMENT AND SCREENING PROCESSES AND ALSO UPDATE THE PAY GRADES REFERENCED IN THE POLICY TO CURRENT PAY GRADES OUTLINED IN THE SALARY SCHEDULES.
THIS IS FOR APPROVAL, AND THERE HAVE BEEN NO CHANGES SINCE LAST MONTH.
IS THERE A MOTION? MS. GRIFFIN, I MOVE THAT WE APPROVE REVISIONS TO BOARD POLICY DIA(LOCAL) AS PRINTED IN OUR BOARD BOOK.
IS THERE A SECOND? IT'S BEEN PROPERLY MOVED BY MR. SELDERS, SECOND BY MR. GLICK THAT WE CONSIDER APPROVAL OF REVISIONS TO BOARD POLICY DIA.
ARE YOU READY TO VOTE FOR APPROVAL? WOULD YOU RAISE YOUR HANDS? ALRIGHTY, SEVEN ZERO.
THANK YOU. D CONSIDER APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION FOR THE 2023-2024 SALARY SCHEDULE.
[VIII.D. Consider Approval of Recommendation for 2023-2024 Salary Schedule Addendum Summer School Staff Pay]
ADDENDUM. SUMMER SCHOOL STAFF PAY DOCTOR BROWN.GOOD EVENING, PRESIDENT GRIFFIN BOARD OF TRUSTEES AND SUPERINTENDENT LOPEZ.
YOU HAVE BEFORE YOU THE RECOMMENDATIONS FOR OUR SUMMER SCHOOL PROGRAM, PAYMENT FOR OUR ADMINISTRATORS, AND THIS WILL BE AN ADDENDUM TO OUR SALARY SCHEDULE.
THE PAYMENTS ARE FOR SUMMER SCHOOL ADMINISTRATORS, AND IF YOU NOTE THERE'S AN ASTERISK BY SUMMER SCHOOL ADMINISTRATOR, AND THAT ASTERISK REFERS TO THE FACT THAT THIS WILL BE THE LAST SUMMER THAT WE PAY OUR SUMMER SCHOOL ADMINISTRATORS, ASSISTANT PRINCIPALS, AND OR PRINCIPALS WILL BE ASSIGNED TO SUMMER SCHOOL ADMINISTRATOR DUTIES.
SO A HIGH SCHOOL SUMMER SCHOOL PRINCIPAL PAYMENT WILL BE $7,500.
[00:25:01]
ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL FOR HIGH SCHOOL $5,700.MIDDLE SCHOOL PRINCIPAL $5,000.
MIDDLE SCHOOL ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL $3,800.
ELEMENTARY SUMMER SCHOOL PRINCIPAL $5,000.
ELEMENTARY ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL $3,800.
EMERGENT BILINGUAL PRINCIPAL $6,100, AND THE POSITIONS OF SUMMER SCHOOL COUNSELOR, SUMMER SCHOOL NURSE, AND SUMMER SCHOOL LIBRARIAN AND TEACHERS WILL BE $40 PER HOUR.
IN ADDITION, OUR PARAPROFESSIONAL PAY WILL BE $15 PER HOUR.
ARE THERE ANY QUESTIONS? MR. BEACH? YES, SIR. MS. BROWN, SINCE THE FUNDING SOURCES ARE COMING FROM ESSER, IS TRS INVOLVED IN THAT PAYMENT OR IS THIS LIKE A STIPEND? THIS IS A STIPEND.
OKAY. THANK YOU. ARE THERE ANY OTHER QUESTIONS, MISS STANLEY? JUST TO CLARIFY.
SO, HOW LONG HAVE WE BEEN DOING THIS WHERE WE WERE GIVING THE PAY FOR THE SUMMER SCHOOL FOR THE ADMINISTRATORS? I DO NOT KNOW THE ANSWER TO THAT QUESTION.
SO HOW COME THE CHANGE? I JUST NEED TO HAVE ALL THESE OTHER FUNDS TO PAY OUT WITH.
OKAY. SO IT'S ALREADY IN THE CONTRACT AND IT WILL BE IT WILL BE OKAY OKAY.
PART OF OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED.
THEY'RE PART OF THE CONTRACT DAYS THAT PERFECT, OKAY, THANK YOU.
OKAY. IS THERE A MOTION FOR THE APPROVAL OF THIS RECOMMENDATION FOR THE 2023-2024 SALARY SCHEDULE A DDENDUM FOR SUMMER SCHOOL STAFF? IS THERE A MOTION? MR. MILLER? THANK YOU, MISS GRIFFIN.
I WOULD LIKE TO, I WOULD MAKE A MOTION THAT WE APPROVE THE 2024-2025 PAY RAISE RECOMMENDATIONS.
I'M SORRY. I WOULD LIKE TO MAKE A RECOMMENDATION THAT WE APPROVE THE 2023-2024 SALARY SCHEDULE ADDENDUM FOR SUMMER SCHOOL PAY FOR STAFF.
IS THERE A SECOND? SECOND. THANK YOU, MR. JOHNSON. IT'S BEEN PROPERLY MOVED BY MR. MILLER. SECOND, BY MR. JOHNSON, THAT WE CONSIDER APPROVAL OF THE RECOMMENDATION FOR THE 2023-2024 SALARY SCHEDULE ADDENDUM SUMMER SCHOOL STAFF PAY.
ANY QUESTION? ANY DISCUSSION? IF WE'RE READY TO VOTE FOR APPROVAL, WILL YOU PLEASE RAISE YOUR HAND? THAT PASSES SEVEN ZERO.
TRUSTEES, I KIND OF JUST WANT TO, I PROBABLY DON'T NEED TO SAY IT. I'M NOT TRYING TO BE OFFENSIVE TO ANYONE.
WE ARE TRYING TO AVOID THE WEATHER, OR THEREOF, FOR SAFETY, AND SO I WOULD ASK FOR US TO PAY ATTENTION CLOSELY TO EVERYTHING THAT'S BEING SAID AND LET'S KIND OF ASK THE QUESTIONS AND LET'S KIND OF KEEP IT MOVING UNLESS THERE'S SOMETHING THAT WE'RE GOING TO GET STUCK ON. SO I THINK WE CAN DO THAT, AND SO WITH THAT, MR. DODDS, THE FLOOR IS YOURS.
[VIII.E. Action Item - Consider Approval of the 2024-2025 Pay Raise Recommendations for Garland ISD Employees]
THANK YOU, PRESIDENT GRIFFIN, BOARD OF TRUSTEES, DOCTOR LOPEZ.TODAY WE'RE COMING TO TALK ABOUT OUR PROPOSED RAISES.
THE SCHOOL DISTRICTS HAVEN'T HAD A RAISE IN FUNDING SINCE 2019, BUT AS WE KNOW, COST OF LIVING AND EVERYTHING ELSE FOR OUR TEACHERS AND EVERYTHING ELSE HAS GONE UP TREMENDOUSLY, AND SO AS WE WALK THROUGH THIS AND I'M GOING TO GO REALLY FAST THROUGH THE FIRST THREE FIRST SLIDES BECAUSE THIS IS SOMETHING YOU'VE ALREADY SEEN IN THE BUDGET WORKSHOP, AND SO THIS IS MORE OF OUR HISTORICAL DISTRICT RAISES AND THE DOLLAR IMPACT OVER THE LAST FIVE YEARS TO OUR BUDGET ROUGHLY AROUND $69.5 MILLION
[00:30:08]
IMPACT TO THE BUDGET FOR RAISES THE TEACHERS AND HOW THEY'RE SEPARATED 1 TO 5 ALL THE WAY UP TO 30 YEARS PLUS AND THE PERCENTAGES OF OUR TEACHERS IN THOSE SECTIONS THESE ARE SOME OF THE INSURANCE COSTS THAT WILL BE APPLIED THIS NEXT SCHOOL YEAR WHICH MOST OF THEM WILL AN EMPLOYEE ONLY ON THE ACTIVE CARE PRIMARY, AND THE ACTIVE CARE HD WILL WILL GO UP BY $51 A MONTH, AND THEN WE GET TO WHAT WE'RE PROPOSING AND THERE'S BEEN A LOT OF PROPOSALS AROUND OUR AREA.ONE OF THE THINGS Y'ALL PROBABLY GOT MAD AT ME BECAUSE I SLOW PLAYED THIS A LITTLE BIT BUT BEING NEW TO THE AREA AND BEING NEW TO THIS SCHOOL DISTRICT WANTED TO REALLY GO THROUGH WHAT WE FELT WE COULD DO, EVEN THOUGH AS A BUDGET MANAGER, IT GOES AGAINST EVERYTHING ADDING TO THE BUDGET AND INCREASING THE, THE BUDGET DEFICIT.
A LOT OF SLEEPLESS NIGHTS OVER THAT, BUT THAT'S MY OWN PROBLEM, BUT AS WE GO THROUGH THIS UNDERSTANDING WHAT LOOKS GOOD ON PAPER DOESN'T ALWAYS LOOK GOOD TO OUR STAFF AND OUR COMMUNITY, AND SO TONIGHT YOU KNOW, AND AS WE APPROVE THESE, THESE ARE SOME OF THE THINGS MOVING FORWARD.
WE TALKED ABOUT IT IN THE BUDGET WORKSHOP.
WE'LL TALK ABOUT IT RELENTLESSLY MOVING FORWARD THAT WE'RE GOING TO NEED SOME HELP FROM THE LEGISLATURE AND HELP FROM OUR VOTERS AS WE LOOK AT A VOTER APPROVED TAX RATE ELECTION PROBABLY COMING UP IN NOVEMBER OF 25, BUT MOVING ON FROM THAT WHAT WE'RE PROPOSING IS MOVING OUR BEGINNING TEACHER FROM 61 TO 61.5, AND THEN ALL OTHER TEACHING POSITIONS WILL RECEIVE A 3% INCREASE, AND OUR OTHER CAMPUS STAFF INCLUDING UP TO PRINCIPALS, WOULD INCLUDE A 3% INCREASE.
AUXILIARY PAY WILL BEGIN AT 1550, AND THEN MAKE SURE THAT ALL AUXILIARY RECEIVES AT LEAST A 3% RAISE TO MAKE SURE THAT THEY ARE THEY ARE COVERED ALSO, AND THEN ALL OTHER STAFF, WHICH WOULD BE ESSENTIALLY CENTRAL OFFICE DESIGNATED PERSONNEL WHICH WILL BE MORE OF THE DIRECTOR AND, AND UP POSITIONS WILL RECEIVE A 2% INCREASE.
NOW, THE 3% ALSO INCLUDES ALL OF OUR [INAUDIBLE] POSITIONS, OUR SPECIAL ED POSITIONS, THAT SPEECH PATH AND DIFFERENT THINGS LIKE THAT. ALSO INCLUDES OUR COUNSELORS NURSES LIBRARIANS ALSO.
SO THAT IS OUR RECOMMENDATION.
ALL RIGHT, TRUSTEES, LET'S SIT TALL.
BREATHE OUT, AND LET'S START WITH THE QUESTIONS.
SO I'M OPEN FOR WHO HAS QUESTIONS.
YOU WERE LOOKING AT ME, SO I'M READY TO MAKE A MOTION IF ANYONE ELSE IS READY.
OKAY, WELL, LET ME SEE IF WE HAVE ANY DISCUSSIONS.
YEAH. THANK YOU, MR. DODDS, AND I KNOW THERE'S BEEN A TREMENDOUS AMOUNT OF WORK THAT HAS GONE INTO THIS, AND THIS WHOLE PROCESS IS VERY DISTRESSING TO A LOT OF PEOPLE, ESPECIALLY THOSE LIKE YOU, WHO HAVE TO WRITE THE CHECKS.
WE KNOW WHEN WE'RE ALREADY LOOKING AT A BUDGET DEFICIT OF $80 MILLION.
WE ALSO KNOW THAT, YOU KNOW, EVERYBODY'S INVOLVED WITH THIS DISTRICT.
WOULD DO ANYTHING TO HELP THE TEACHERS.
THE PROBLEM IS ABSOLUTELY ZERO OF THE DOLLARS THAT EXIST IN PUBLIC ED UNDER OUR CONTROL.
THEY'RE ALL DOWN AT THE STATE.
THE STATE HAS CHOSEN NOT TO INCREASE OUR FUNDING SINCE 2019.
WE'RE GIVING RAISES OUT OF OUR SAVINGS ACCOUNT.
BY MY MATH OR BY ANYBODY'S MATH, WE CAN WE'RE GOING TO SEE WHAT HAPPENS BY THE END OF THIS YEAR.
[00:35:02]
BY THE END OF NEXT YEAR.ANY EXCESS THAT WE HAD IN THE GENERAL FUND WILL BE SPENT.
86% ROUGHLY OF OUR BUDGETS GOING TO SALARIES.
THAT'S NOT A SUSTAINABLE NUMBER.
WE'VE HAD THIS DISCUSSION MANY TIMES, AND I DON'T THINK ANYBODY'S REAL COMFORTABLE WITH THAT.
I THINK EVERYBODY'S COMFORTABLE WITH GIVING TEACHERS A RAISE.
IT'S JUST IF I DO THE MATH, IF 86% OF OUR BUDGET GOES TO SALARIES.
THIS TYPE OF SALARY INCREASE TO GO ALONG WITH THE BUDGET THAT WE ANTICIPATE GETTING BY JUNE.
YOU KNOW WE CAN DO ONE MORE YEAR, AND THE CUTS THAT WILL HAVE TO MAKE ARE GOING TO HAPPEN.
I TRUST THAT YOU AND STAFF WILL START MAKING CUTS.
THEN I NEED TO KNOW THAT STARTING TOMORROW, THAT WE'RE GOING TO START FIGURING OUT WAYS TO BALANCE OUR BUDGET, AND YOU MENTIONED THREE WAYS THAT ARE REALLY GOOD OR YOU MENTIONED TWO.
I'M GOING TO THROW IN A THIRD.
TWO OF THE WAYS WE HAVE TO DO A VOTER APPROVED TAX TAX RATE ELECTION. WE TRIED ONCE BEFORE.
IT DIDN'T WORK. WE'RE GOING TO TRY AGAIN.
WE HAVE TO. WE CAN'T BE IN A, QUOTE, PROPERTY POOR DISTRICT AND HAVE OUR SALARIES AND WAGES.
THEY'VE ALREADY GONE TO THE VOTERS AND GOT THEIR TAX RATES INCREASED.
SO WE'RE STARTING WITH TWO HANDS BEHIND OUR BACK TO BEGIN WITH, AND THAT'S NUMBER ONE.
SOMETHING THAT WE CAN USE TO ACTUALLY HELP OUR BUDGET DEFICIT, AND THEN NUMBER THREE, AND I HOPE WE START THIS TOMORROW IS START WORKING ON OUR ADA, OUR AVERAGE DAILY ATTENDANCE.
DO YOU REMEMBER THE NUMBER OF AVERAGE KIDS THAT WE HAVE ABSENT IN OUR DISTRICT NOW? ROUGHLY, WE ARE SITTING AT A 92% WHEN YOU HAVE 51,000 STUDENTS AND ONLY ABOUT 46,300 ARE SHOWING UP.
THERE'S A BIG DIFFERENCE IN HOW MANY WE HAVE.
LET'S SAY 3 TO 4000 KIDS ARE ABSENT EVERY DAY.
IF THEY DON'T SHOW UP, THEN WE DON'T GET THEIR ALLOCATION.
IN OTHER WORDS, WE DON'T GET PAID AND THAT AFFECTS OUR REVENUE.
SO THERE'S THREE REVENUE WAYS THAT WE CAN INFLUENCE, BUT WE DON'T CONTROL ANY OF THEM.
SO I THINK I MEAN, A 3% RAISE ISN'T ENOUGH.
I DON'T THINK I CAN'T SPEAK FOR EVERYBODY ELSE AT THE TABLE, BUT AGAIN, YOU'VE HEARD ME SAY THIS.
I HAVE A DAUGHTER WHO'S A TEACHER.
WE CANNOT KICK THE CAN DOWN THE ROAD.
OKAY, BUT I'M RELYING ON YOU ALL TO BE ABLE TO BRING US A BUDGET NEXT YEAR THAT WE CAN ACTUALLY FEEL GOOD ABOUT, BECAUSE I TOTALLY AM NOT FEELING REAL GOOD ABOUT IT.
THANK YOU. THANK YOU, MR. MILLER. MR. GLICK. THANK YOU, MA'AM.
FIRST, I'D LIKE TO THANK THE ADMINISTRATION.
I KNOW THE LAST TWO WEEKS HAVE PROBABLY BEEN VERY DIFFICULT FOR YOU.
TWO WEEKS AGO, I THREW OUT SOME NUMBERS.
PEOPLE ASKED, WHERE DO THEY GET THOSE NUMBERS FROM? AND I THINK YOU GOT VERY, VERY CLOSE TODAY TO APPROACHING THOSE NUMBERS.
SO I TRULY THANK YOU, NOT FOR ME, BUT FOR OUR STAFF MEMBERS, BECAUSE I THINK, I HOPE THEY WILL APPRECIATE HOW HARD THIS WAS FOR YOU TO DO AND GET TO THOSE NUMBERS TODAY.
ARE THERE ANY MORE? IS THERE ANY MORE DISCUSSION? I KNOW MR. JOHNSON IS READY WITH A MOTION.
I WILL ENTERTAIN A MOTION AT THIS TIME.
[00:40:01]
I MOVE THAT WE APPROVE THE ADMINISTRATION'S RECOMMENDATION FOR RAISE SCENARIOS.SECOND. MR. JOHNSON, CAN I GET YOU TO MODIFY THAT JUST A LITTLE BIT? CAN YOU PUT 20, 2024 AND 2025 IN THAT FOR ME, PLEASE? OF COURSE, MADAM PRESIDENT.
SECOND, IT'S BEEN PROPERLY MOVED AND SECOND, MOVED BY MR. JOHNSON. SECOND, BY MR. GLICK THAT WE ACCEPT THE APPROVAL OF THE 2024-2025 PAY RAISE RECOMMENDATION FOR GARLAND ISD EMPLOYEES. ANY FURTHER DISCUSSION AT THIS TIME, I WOULD ASK YOU IF WE'RE READY TO VOTE, IF YOU WOULD PLEASE RAISE YOUR HANDS.
THANK YOU. TRUSTEES, THAT PASSES SEVEN ZERO.
THANK YOU. THANK YOU, MR. DODDS. YOU MAY BE ABLE TO GET ONE NIGHT.
GOOD SLEEP. THANK YOU FOR YOUR EFFORT.
[VIII.F. New Bid]
WE'RE ON F.ACTION ITEM. NEW BID CONTRACT NUMBER 499-24-02.
CONSIDER APPROVAL OF CONTRACTOR FOR LAKEVIEW CENTENNIAL HIGH SCHOOL TURF REPLACEMENT, MR. FERNANDEZ. THANK YOU.
DOCTOR LOPEZ, SUPERINTENDENT DOCTOR LOPEZ, WE'RE HERE TONIGHT TO PRESENT TO YOU A RECOMMENDATION FOR A CONTRACTOR TO PERFORM TURF REPLACEMENT FOR LAKEVIEW CENTENNIAL HIGH SCHOOL. A LITTLE BIT OF BACKGROUND FOR THIS LAST YEAR, WE PERFORMED THIS SERVICE FOR ROWLETT, SACHSE, NAAMAN FOREST, H-E-B, NOT H-E-B, HBJ, AND WILLIAMS STADIUM.
THIS IS THE PART TWO PORTION OF THE TURF REPLACEMENT.
THERE WAS A DELAY FOR LAKEVIEW CENTENNIAL AS WE WERE REVIEWING THE LOCATION OF THE OF THE FIELD AND ITS IMPACT AT THAT TIME AND HOW THE BOND, IF THE BOND WAS PASSED, HOW IT WOULD AFFECT THE FIELD, AND SO NOW THAT WE'VE COMPLETED THAT INVESTIGATION, WE NEED TO MOVE FORWARD WITH REPLACING THE TURF AT LAKEVIEW CENTENNIAL.
ANY QUESTIONS ON THIS ACTION ITEM? SEEING NONE.
ALRIGHT. DO I HAVE A MOTION? MR. BEACH.
I'LL MAKE A MOTION THAT WE APPROVE.
SECOND. IT'S BEEN PROPERLY MOVED BY MR. BEACH, SECOND BY MR. GLICK THAT WE CONSIDER APPROVAL OF THE NEW BID CONTRACT NUMBER 499-24-02.
ANY FURTHER DISCUSSION? ANY QUESTIONS? IF WE'RE READY TO VOTE, WOULD YOU PLEASE RAISE YOUR HAND FOR APPROVAL? OKAY. THANK YOU. THAT PASSES SEVEN TO ZERO.

WE CAN HAVE HONEST DISCUSSIONS WITH EACH OTHER AND AND REALLY GET DOWN TO THE DEEP ROOT PROBLEMS, AND I THINK THAT'S A VERY UNIQUE QUALITY TO HAVE, YOU KNOW, TO BE ABLE TO JUST BE SO TRANSPARENT WITH EACH OTHER BECAUSE REALLY WHAT MATTERS ARE THE STUDENTS OF OUR DISTRICT AND THOSE WHO SERVE THOSE STUDENTS DIRECTLY, AND WE'RE DOING EVERYTHING WE CAN TO MAKE SURE THIS IS THE PREMIER DISTRICT IN THE STATE OF TEXAS.
