[00:00:02] IT IS NOW 5:07 AND I CALL TO ORDER THE GARLAND INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT BOARD OF TRUSTEES REGULAR MEETING FOR TUESDAY, DECEMBER 17, 2024. [I. Call to Order and Determination of a Quorum] I DECLARE THAT A QUORUM IS PRESENT AND WE WILL PROCEED WITH OUR AGENDA AS PRINTED. AT THIS TIME, WE HAVE A STUDENT FROM STEPHENS ELEMENTARY WHO WILL BE LEADING US IN THE PLEDGES. WILL EVERYONE PLEASE RISE? I PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE TO THE FLAG OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, AND TO THE REPUBLIC FOR WHICH IT STANDS. ONE NATION UNDER GOD, INDIVISIBLE, WITH LIBERTY AND JUSTICE FOR ALL. HONOR THE TEXAS FLAG. I PLEDGE ALLEGIANCE TO THEE, TEXAS. ONE STATE UNDER GOD, ONE INDIVISIBLE. MY NAME IS DAMIAN RENOVATO AND I ATTEND TO STEPHENS ELEMENTARY, AND MY GRADE LEVEL IS FIFTH GRADE. AND I'M JUST REALLY INTO SPORTS. AND ONE OF MY FAVORITE TEACHERS IS MR. SANJUANERO. [APPLAUSE] IF IT IS OKAY WITH I'LL LET YOU GUYS FINISH. DAMIEN, IF IT'S OKAY WITH YOUR MOM, ONE OF THE THINGS THAT I LIKE TO DO WITH STUDENTS WHO COME AND DO THE PLEDGES IS TO TAKE A SELFIE WITH YOU. ARE YOU OKAY WITH THAT? AWESOME. THANK. YOU. THANK YOU. THANK YOU. THANK YOU. THANK YOU SO MUCH. THANK YOU SO MUCH. THANK YOU. SO MUCH. YOU TOOK IT BACK. SO. THAT WAS NICE. I GUESS BEING PRESIDENT DOES HAVE SOME PERKS. ALL RIGHT, SO WE'LL NOW MOVE TO PUBLIC FORUM. [III. Public Forum] WE DO HAVE ONE CARD. MISS HOGAN, WOULD YOU MIND? I'LL READ THE CARD AFTER YOU GIVE THE INSTRUCTIONS FOR PUBLIC FORUM. I FEEL SO SPECIAL. GOOD EVENING EVERYONE. PUBLIC FORUM IS FOR MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC WHO WISH TO MAKE COMMENTS. THEY MAY COMPLETE A CARD AT THE BEGINNING OF THE MEETING AND PROVIDE IT TO MYSELF. I HAVE TWO CARDS THIS EVENING. YOU HAVE THREE MINUTES TO GIVE YOUR REMARKS. PLEASE DO NOT SPECIFICALLY INDICATE ANYTHING REGARDING SPECIFIC STUDENT DISCIPLINE, SPECIFIC STUDENT ISSUES, OR PERSONNEL, BECAUSE THOSE ISSUES MUST BE ADDRESSED IN A DIFFERENT AVENUE. THOSE WHO HAVE SIGNED CARDS THIS EVENING HAVE BEEN GIVEN THOSE RULES. MR. DODDS WILL BE YOUR TIMER AT THE BEGINNING OF THE GREEN LIGHT TO STATE YOUR FIRST AND LAST NAME, YOUR ADDRESS AND YOUR REASON FOR VISITING US THIS EVENING. AT THE YELLOW LIGHT THAT WILL BE YOUR HALFWAY MARK. AND AT THE RED LIGHT, WE KINDLY ASK YOU TO STOP SPEAKING. SO IF YOU WOULD GO AHEAD AND READ THE NAME, I APPRECIATE THAT THE FIRST CARD THAT I HAVE IS FOR SARAH GESSLER. PLEASE COME FORWARD. JUST RESTATE YOUR NAME, YOUR ADDRESS AND ORGANIZATION. AND THEN IF YOU HAVE ANY STUDENTS IN THE DISTRICT AND THEN YOU MAY BEGIN. GOOD EVENING, MEMBERS OF THE BOARD. TONIGHT I STAND IN SOLIDARITY WITH MY DEAR FRIENDS AND MY FAMILY. MY NAME IS SARAH GESSLER. I AM THE MOTHER OF A GISD STUDENT WHO IS AUTISTIC AND IN THE EIGHTH GRADE, WHO HAS BEEN IN GARLAND ISD SINCE THE FOURTH GRADE. I AM HERE TONIGHT TO ADVOCATE FOR MY SON AND OUR FAMILY, WHO LIVE DAILY WITH THE CHALLENGES AND TRIUMPHS OF RAISING A CHILD WITH SPECIAL NEEDS. ON SEPTEMBER 30TH, DURING A COMPUTER CLASS AT LYLES MIDDLE SCHOOL, MY STUDENT, FEELING OVERWHELMED, PULLED HIS HOODIE OVER HIS HEAD AND WAS RESTING HIS HEAD ON THE DESK. A TEACHER TOLD HIM TO WAKE UP AND THEN KICKED MY STUDENT'S DESK. STARTLED AND FEARFUL MY STUDENT CALLED ME IMMEDIATELY. I ARRIVED AT THE SCHOOL TO FIND HIM VISIBLY UPSET. REPEATING, HE KICKED MY DESK. AS AN AUTISTIC YOUNG MAN, MY STUDENT HAS STRUGGLED HIS ENTIRE LIFE WITH SENSORY ISSUES INCLUDING NOISE AND TOUCH SENSITIVITY, ALL WELL DOCUMENTED IN HIS [00:05:09] PAPERWORK. AS AN AUTISTIC. EXCUSE ME. SORRY. IN WHAT EDUCATIONAL SETTING IS IT EVER APPROPRIATE FOR A TEACHER TO KICK A STUDENT'S DESK? ESPECIALLY WHEN THE STUDENT'S NEEDS ARE SO CLEARLY DEFINED? INITIALLY, THE TEACHER ADMITTED TO LIGHTLY KICKING THE DESK, AND THE OTHER STUDENTS CONFIRMED THIS BEHAVIOR. I WAS TOLD A STORY BY ONE PERSON, BY EXCUSE ME, BY CAMPUS ADMINISTRATION THAT DAY, ONLY TO FIND A VERY DIFFERENT VERSION EMAILED TO ME LATER. THIS INCONSISTENCY AND LACK OF ACCOUNTABILITY ARE UNACCEPTABLE. MY STUDENTS STRUGGLES EXTEND BEYOND THIS INCIDENT. DESPITE A COMPREHENSIVE SPECIAL EDUCATION PLAN AND MEETINGS, WE CONSTANTLY FACE FAILURES IMPLEMENTING THIS PLAN. FAILURES THAT NOT ONLY HINDER HIS PROGRESS BUT ARE IN VIOLATION OF THE LAW. AS A FORMER SPEECH PATHOLOGIST AND EDUCATOR, I KNOW THE SYSTEM AND THE STANDARDS THAT MUST BE UPHELD THROUGH IDEA. WE CAME TO GISD HOPEFUL. WE ENTRUSTED OUR STUDENT TO YOUR CARE. BUT THE LAST FOUR YEARS HAVE SHATTERED THAT TRUST. ACCORDING TO STEPHEN COVEY, IN THE SPEED OF TRUST, BROKEN TRUST CAN ACTUALLY BECOME A SIGNIFICANT BEGINNING. IT'S AN OPPORTUNITY TO GET YOUR OWN ACT TOGETHER, TO IMPROVE YOUR CHARACTER AND COMPETENCE, TO BEHAVE IN WAYS THAT INSPIRE TRUST. I AM RESPECTFULLY REQUESTING ACCOUNTABILITY FROM THE DISTRICT AND THE TEACHER, AND I ASK FOR A FACE TO FACE MEETING WITH YOU, THE BOARD MEMBERS, TO DISCUSS OUR EXPERIENCES. IF YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT IS BROKEN, HOW CAN IT BE FIXED? I TRIED TO REACH SUPERINTENDENT LOPEZ TO RESOLVE MY CONCERNS, BUT HE HAS, AS OF YET NEGLECTED TO RESPOND PERSONALLY TO ANY OF MY EFFORTS. MY STUDENT DESERVES BETTER. EVERY STUDENT IN GARLAND ISD, REGARDLESS OF THEIR NEEDS, DESERVES BETTER. I'M INCLUDING A PACKET WITH ADDITIONAL INFORMATION FOR EACH OF YOU. I APPRECIATE YOUR ONGOING COMMITMENT TO SUPPORTING THE TEACHERS, THE STUDENTS, AND THEIR FAMILIES IN OUR DISTRICT. THANK YOU. THANK YOU. JUST GIVE THEM TO MISS HOGAN AND SHE'LL MAKE SURE WE GET THEM. THANK YOU SO MUCH. THANK YOU. THANK YOU. OKAY. THE NEXT CARD I HAVE IS FOR REBECCA THEHOFF IF I'M PRONOUNCING THAT NAME CORRECTLY. HE ACTUALLY DID. THANK YOU. YOU'RE WELCOME. COME FORWARD PLEASE. MS. THEHOFF. Y'ALL, PLEASE GO AHEAD AND STATE YOUR NAME. YOUR ADDRESS AND THE STUDENT THAT YOU HAVE IN THE DISTRICT. AND THEN YOU MAY BEGIN YOUR TIME. MY NAME IS REBECCA THEHOFF. THIS IS JACOB THEHOFF. HE'S MY ONLY STUDENT IN THE SCHOOL DISTRICT. WE GO TO NORTH GARLAND HIGH SCHOOL. HE GOES TO NORTH GARLAND HIGH SCHOOL. I SERVE ON THE AS A MEMBERSHIP CHAIR ON THE PTA THERE. I'M HERE BECAUSE IN THE PROCESS OF TRYING TO GET MEMBERSHIP, TRYING TO GET MEMBERSHIPS INTO THE PTA, I CONTACTED FORMER MEMBERS. I CONTACTED OUR FORMER SPEECH THERAPIST TO SEE WHY SHE HADN'T RENEWED HER MEMBERSHIP, AND I WAS INFORMED THIS WAS IN SEPTEMBER. AND I WAS INFORMED THAT THERE HAD BEEN NO SPEECH THERAPIST IN AS OF THE BEGINNING OF THE SCHOOL YEAR, AND THEY WERE LOOKING TO REPLACE IT. THE SPEECH THERAPIST, THERE ARE, AS FAR AS I KNOW, THREE, POSSIBLY FOUR SPECIAL ED CLASSROOMS. THIS MEANS THAT THERE ARE AT LEAST 40 KIDS WHO ARE NOT GETTING SPEECH THERAPY ON TOP OF JACOB. AND SO THE TIME IS GOING TO OCCUR OR HE'S GOING TO BE RECEIVING A COMPENSATORY SERVICES. I WAS TOLD BY THE NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF NORTH TEXAS THAT HE COULD QUALIFY IF GISD COULD PAY FOR PRIVATE SERVICES, BUT WE GET PRIVATE IN-HOME SERVICES THROUGH MEDICAID. SO THE TAXPAYERS ARE ALREADY PAYING MONEY, I WOULD ADD, AND IT'S A DIFFERENT SETUP. HE IS GETTING THE IN-HOME SERVICES IS OUR COMMUNITY THERAPY. WHEREAS IN THE SCHOOL HE WOULD BE GETTING EDUCATIONAL SERVICES, EDUCATIONAL SPEECH SERVICES RIGHT NOW, [00:10:10] AUGUST, SEPTEMBER, OCTOBER, NOVEMBER, DECEMBER, FIVE MONTHS WITHOUT SPEECH THERAPY. HE IS REGRESSING. HE HAS A VERY HIGH CHANCE TO REGRESS. THERE IS A POSSIBILITY THAT THERE ARE OTHER KIDS WITHIN THE SCHOOL REGRESSING, AND I SEE IT ON THE FACEBOOK SUPPORT GROUPS THAT THIS IS A GISD ISSUE. I JUST SPOKE TO THIS HEAD OF THE SPECIAL ED. I WANTED TO MAKE EVERYBODY AWARE OF THIS AND WANTED TO STAND IN SUPPORT WITH OTHER SPECIAL ED PARENTS. THANK YOU. THANK YOU, MS. THEHOFF. [APPLAUSE] ALL RIGHT. WE'LL NOW MOVE TO OUR INFORMATION ITEMS. [IV.A. Evidence of Excellence ] ITEM 4A EVIDENCE OF EXCELLENCE WHERE A1, WE'RE GOING TO RECOGNIZE THE 2024 HOLIDAY CARD CONTEST WINNERS. MR. MATA. WE'LL NOW MOVE TO OUR NEXT ITEM, ITEM B. [IV.B. GOOD EVENING, PRESIDENT SELDERS, MEMBERS OF THE BOARD AND DOCTOR LOPEZ. I PRESENT TO YOU THE OCTOBER 2024 FINANCIALS. THIS PACKET WILL NOT HAVE THE ESSER SPENDING ANYMORE AS IT HAS BEEN SPENT. BUT THERE'S TWO HIGHLIGHTS THAT I'D LIKE TO POINT OUT. ONE OF THEM WAS IN THE FIRST PAGE, WHICH YOU HAVE IN FRONT OF YOU ON THE SCREEN. ONE OF THEM IS THAT WE SPENT 21.5% OF THE GENERAL FUND AS OF OCTOBER 2024, AND THEN THE NEXT PERCENTAGE THAT I WOULD LIKE TO DIRECT YOUR ATTENTION TO WILL BE THE REVENUE THAT WE COLLECTED AS OF OCTOBER 31ST, 2024, AND THAT'S 24.4%, WHICH IS COMPARED TO WHAT WE DID LAST YEAR AT THAT POINT IN TIME. I'M HAPPY TO ENTERTAIN ANY QUESTIONS. DO WE HAVE ANY QUESTIONS FOR MR. VALENZUELA? NO QUESTIONS. ALL RIGHT, WE'LL MOVE. THANK YOU. WE'LL MOVE TO OUR NEXT INFORMATION. I'M SORRY. ROBERT. I'M SORRY. GOOD EVENING, PRESIDENT SELDERS BOARD OF TRUSTEES AND DOCTOR LOPEZ. THE ITEM YOU HAVE BEFORE YOU IS THE OCTOBER COLLECTION REPORT, REFLECTING 2.40% COLLECTED OF THE 2024 TAX LEVY. AS OF TODAY, WE'RE AT 17% COLLECTED. MR. MILLER, YOU HAD PREVIOUSLY ASKED ABOUT VALUE UNDER DISPUTE. ALL OF OUR VIDS HAVE BEEN ABSORBED. NOTICE 2700 ACCOUNTS. SO WE'VE RECEIVED THEM IN THE LAST THREE SUPPLEMENTS. EXCUSE ME. YEAH. MIKE, ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT FOR THE LAST TAX YEAR. NO, FOR 2024. FOR 2024. THE ONES THAT WERE UNDER DISPUTE, THOSE HAVE ALL BEEN ABSORBED. OKAY. THANK YOU. I RAN THE REPORT. IT SHOWED ZERO ACCOUNTS REMAINING. SUPER. THANK YOU. OKAY. DO YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS? ANY OTHER QUESTIONS? THANK YOU. ALL RIGHT. THANK YOU. OUR NEXT INFORMATION ITEM IS INFORMATION ITEM E. [IV.E. Receive Intruder Detection Audit Report - Mark Quinn] WE'RE GOING TO RECEIVE INTRUDER DETECTION AUDIT REPORT MR. QUINN. GOOD EVENING, DOCTOR LOPEZ AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES. THE TOP PRIORITY OF GARLAND ISD IN THE STATE OF TEXAS IS KEEPING STUDENTS AND STAFF SAFE EVERY DAY. THE TEA AND REGION 10 RECENTLY CONDUCTED AN INTRUDER DETECTION AUDIT AT ONE OR MORE OF OUR CAMPUSES. THE AUDIT TEST WHETHER A CAMPUS IS ACCESSIBLE TO AN UNAUTHORIZED INDIVIDUAL. THIS AUDIT SEEKS TO HELP DISTRICTS IDENTIFY HOW CAMPUSES CAN IMPROVE SAFETY FOR STUDENTS, SUCH AS ENSURING EXTERIOR DOORS ARE LOCKED. THE AUDIT PROVIDES US WITH THE OPPORTUNITY TO CREATE A SAFER LEARNING ENVIRONMENT FOR OUR STUDENTS AND STAFF. WE ARE WORKING CLOSELY WITH OUR DISTRICT SCHOOL SAFETY AND SECURITY COMMITTEE TO ENSURE THAT WE ARE TRAINING ALL OUR STAFF IN SECURING OUR DOORS FOR THE PROTECTION OF EVERYONE AT OUR CAMPUSES. THE SUPPORT FROM THE STATE IN CONDUCTING THE INTRUDER DETECTION AUDITS IS JUST ONE OF THE MANY ACTIONS WE ARE TAKING TO ENSURE OUR SCHOOLS ARE SAFE. WE KNOW THAT THIS WORK DOES NOT END AND WE APPRECIATE THE BOARD'S SUPPORT. WE ACKNOWLEDGE THAT PARENTS AND COMMUNITY MEMBERS ARE VERY LIKELY VERY INTERESTED IN THE DETAILS OF THE AUDIT RESULTS. HOWEVER, IT IS IN THE BEST INTEREST OF THE STUDENTS THAT WE DO NOT SHARE THIS INFORMATION TO THE BROADER PUBLIC AS IT COULD LEAD TO COMPROMISING IMPORTANT CAMPUS SECURITY [00:25:06] INFORMATION. SPECIFIC DETAILS OF THE INTRUDER DETECTION AUDIT WILL BE DISCUSSED IN EXECUTIVE SESSION AND WITH THE SAFETY AND SECURITY COMMITTEE. GARLAND ISD IS COMMITTED TO PROVIDING A SAFE, SECURE LEARNING ENVIRONMENT FOR OUR STUDENTS AND STAFF. THANK YOU. THANK YOU, MR. QUINN. WE'LL NOW MOVE TO ITEM FIVE. [V.A. Trustees' Report] DISCUSSION ITEMS 5A OUR TRUSTEES REPORT WHERE WE'RE GOING TO. EACH TRUSTEE IS GOING TO REPORT ON TRUSTEE ATTENDANCE AT RECENT DISTRICT AND COMMUNITY EVENTS. ANNOUNCEMENT OF UPCOMING DISTRICT AND COMMUNITY EVENTS. RECOGNITION OF OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCE BY DISTRICT STAFF AND STUDENTS, OR RECOGNITION OF NEW PROGRAMS AND SPECIAL ACTIVITIES. WE WILL BEGIN WITH YOU, MISS GRIFFIN. AND THEN WE'LL MOVE FROM MY RIGHT TO MY LEFT. THANK YOU, PRESIDENT SELDERS. HAPPY HOLIDAYS. IT'S MY HOPE THAT AS WE PREPARE FOR THIS HOLIDAY SEASON THROUGH CHRISTMAS, HANUKKAH OR KWANZAA, THAT WE SHARE THE LOVE, THE JOY AND THE PEACE BECAUSE WE ALL NEED EACH OTHER. I HAD THE DISTINCT PLEASURE AND HONOR TO ATTEND THE LAUNCHING OF THE FUTURE OF THE DALLAS COUNTY PROMISE, WHICH IS NOW KNOWN AS THE DALLAS PROMISE 2.0. YOU NEVER KNOW WHERE OUR STUDENTS ARE GOING TO BE AND WHERE THEY'RE GOING TO SHOW UP. BUT ONE OF THE STUDENTS WAS ON THE PROGRAM TO TALK ABOUT THE IMPACT OF THE DALLAS COUNTY PROMISE ON HER LIFE, AND SHE WAS A GRADUATE OF LAKEVIEW CENTENNIAL HIGH SCHOOL. AND HER NAME WAS BROOKLYN FAIRLEY. SHE REALLY EXPRESSED WHERE SHE IS NOW BECAUSE OF WHAT DALLAS PROMISE HAS GIVEN HER. AND SHE IS AN INTERN WORKING AND VERY SUCCESSFUL. AND THE LAUNCH INCLUDED SOMETHING VERY INTERESTING. IT INCLUDED A DONATION OF $61 MILLION. $61,000 I THINK IT WAS. [LAUGHTER]. IT WAS A DONATION FROM THE BILL SOLOMON WITH THE O'DONNELL FOUNDATION. WHAT DOES THAT MEAN TO US? DIFFERENT FROM WHEN DALLAS PROMISE WAS INITIALLY LAUNCHED, IT WAS WITH THE DALLAS ISD. NOW WE ARE CONSIDERED AS PART OF THAT ADVISORY COMMITTEE AND ON THAT BOARD. SO THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT ECONOMICAL MOBILIZATION. AND THAT'S THE CENTRAL FOCUS AROUND WHAT THEY WANT TO DO TO IMPROVE DALLAS PROMISE. AS SUCCESSFUL AS IT IS, THEY GAVE NUMBERS AND REPORTS THAT TALKED ABOUT HOW MANY KIDS ARE STILL BEING OMITTED. SO ALTHOUGH WE HAVE DONE A LOT WITH CCMR, I THINK THIS IS GOING TO HAVE ANOTHER IMPACT ON THE THINGS THAT WE WERE GOING TO DO AND HAVE TO DO. AND I WOULD LIKE TO JUST PERSONALLY THANK DOCTOR LOPEZ BECAUSE HE IS ON THE DALLAS COUNTY COUNTY PROMISE ADVISORY BOARD. IT LISTS DOCTOR RICK LOPEZ, SUPERINTENDENT GARLAND ISD, AND ALL OF THE OTHER TEACHERS AND PRINCIPALS THAT HAVE COME THROUGH GARLAND MANY OF THEM WERE PRESENT AND ACTIVE IN THIS LAUNCH. THANK YOU. THANK YOU, MS. GRIFFIN. MR. MILLER. YEAH. I'M GOING TO BE REALLY BRIEF. FIRST OF ALL, I WANT TO CONGRATULATE THE BOARD. THIS PAST YEAR, THIS BOARD HAS BEEN SO ACTIVE AND SUPPORTIVE AND SUPPORTIVE OF OUR SCHOOL. THE ACTIVITIES, THERE ARE SO MANY DIFFERENT THINGS THAT GO ON IT'S EVERY DAY. AND FOR YOU ALL TO BE THERE YOU KNOW MY SAYING YOU CAN PRETEND TO CARE, BUT YOU CAN'T PRETEND TO SHOW UP. SO I WANT TO REALLY CONGRATULATE THE BOARD FOR EVERYTHING YOU DO. AND YOU KNOW, IT'S NOT EVEN A BURDEN. IT'S KIND OF A JOY AND A PRIVILEGE THAT WE HAVE. SO FOR THAT, I WANT TO THANK YOU ALL. [00:30:01] AND JUST THIS TIME OF YEAR, THE HOLIDAY SEASON, IT MAY BE IMPOSSIBLE, BUT THE CHALLENGE I HAVE FOR DOCTOR LOPEZ, THE STAFF, THE BOARD, THE TEACHERS, PARENTS, EVERYBODY LITERALLY JUST LET'S LET GO OF THE STRESS. LET'S JUST LET GO OF THE STRESS AND ENJOY OUR FAMILIES. LET'S ENJOY THE TIME THAT WE GET TO SPEND TOGETHER. ONE OF THE THINGS THAT WE CAN DO IS BRING HAPPINESS AND JOY TO THESE OCCASIONS. AND I WISH YOU ALL A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS, A GREAT HOLIDAY SEASON, AND I'M LOOKING FORWARD TO 2025. THANK YOU. THANK YOU, MR. MILLER. MR. GLICK. MR. SELDERS. JUST A SECOND. LET ME CORRECT MYSELF. I WAS RIGHT INITIALLY, BUT ONCE I SAID THAT 61 MILLION, IT SOUNDS HUGE. SO I HAD TO VARY. I HAD TO VERIFY MY NOTES. THE CONTRIBUTION WAS $60 MILLION DOLLARS. THANK YOU, MISS GRIFFIN. YEAH. AND IT IS A BIG NUMBER. IT'S A BIG NUMBER. [LAUGHTER] YOU KNOW, IT WOULD [LAUGHTER] THANK YOU. ALL RIGHT, MR. GLICK. THANK YOU, SIR. WE GOT NOTICE THAT THE GARLAND TEXAN IS GOING TO BE CEASING PUBLICATION AT THE END OF THIS YEAR. AND I WANT TO THANK KIM EVERETT, WHO'S THE EDITOR. I THINK IT'S BEEN AT LEAST 15 YEARS THEY'VE BEEN IN BUSINESS, AND I KNOW THAT A FEW TIMES THAT SHE INTERVIEWED MYSELF, IT WAS JUST WONDERFUL TIMES. AND HER INTEREST AND LOVE FOR THIS DISTRICT WAS UNSURPASSED. AND WE WILL MISS THAT PUBLICATION AND THE ABILITY TO CARRY THE NEWS TO THE CITIZENS OF GARLAND AND BEYOND. I WAS ABLE TO GO TO THE UIL VOLLEYBALL CHAMPIONSHIPS, WHICH WE HOST AT THE CULWELL CENTER. WHAT WAS INTERESTING IS AND FIRST OF ALL, THANK YOU TO JOHN WILBORN AND HIS STAFF, WHO DID AN INCREDIBLE JOB. ONE OF THE THINGS I ALWAYS DO IS GO AND SAY HELLO TO ALL THE UIL OFFICIALS, BECAUSE THIS IS NOT SOMETHING WE CAN ALWAYS COUNT ON THEM COMING BACK. AND I THANK THEM ON BEHALF OF THE BOARD MEMBERS AND THE ADMINISTRATION. I ALWAYS ASK, IS THERE SOMETHING ELSE WE COULD BE DOING AND WHAT ARE WE DOING? WELL. AND THE LADY WHO RUNS THE WHOLE UIL VOLLEYBALL PROGRAM WAS JUST COMPLIMENTING US ON ALL THE MEASURES WE HAVE TO KEEP THE REFEREES ABLE TO MAKE THE DECISIONS WHEN THEY'RE PROTESTS. SHE SAID, WE'VE NEVER SEEN ANYTHING OF THAT QUALITY. SO AGAIN, THANK YOU TO JOHN WILBORN. WHAT WAS INTERESTING IS THE FIRST MATCH I WATCHED WAS BETWEEN MCKINNEY NORTH AND FLOUR BLUFF HIGH SCHOOL, AND I LOOKED AT THE SCOREBOARD AND FLOUR WAS SPELLED F L O U R NOT F L O W E R. AND I'M THINKING AT THAT POINT JOHN WILBORN HAPPENED TO SIT NEXT TO ME, AND I SAID, JOHN, I KNOW YOU DON'T MAKE MISTAKES, BUT IS THAT RIGHT? AND IS APPARENTLY A VERY LONG HISTORY GOING BACK AND MR.. MILLER, I'M NOT AN EXPERT ON TEXAS HISTORY AND I LEARNED ABOUT NEW YORK CITY HISTORY, SO I'M NOT THE EXPERT. BUT APPARENTLY SOMEWHERE AROUND 1838, THE FRENCH BLOCKADED THE COAST, AND IN CORPUS CHRISTI THERE WAS A SHIPMENT, AND IT WAS FLOUR ON THE BLUFF. AND SOMEHOW THE FLOUR REMAINED THERE. AND THAT'S HOW FLOUR BLUFF CAME INTO BEING. SO THE SPELLING WAS CORRECT. MORE IMPORTANTLY WAS TO GO TO SEE BYRON NELSON HIGH SCHOOL. AT ONE POINT, THEY HAD FOUR HIGH SCHOOL ALL-AMERICANS OUT OF THE SIX PLAYERS. AND I REALLY FELT SORRY FOR HOUSTON STAFFORD. BYRON NELSON WAS NUMBER ONE IN THE COUNTRY. STAFFORD WAS 14. I THINK IF THEY PLAYED UNTIL EVEN NOW, THEY WOULD HAVE NEVER WON A SET. THREE STRAIGHT SETS. THEY WON I THINK 14 MATCHES IN A ROW. NOT DROPPING A SET. INCREDIBLE. AND AGAIN THANK YOU FOR JOHN AND THE UIL ALSO THANKS THE DISTRICT FOR THE SPONSORSHIP. ALONG WITH MR. BEACH AND OUR PRESIDENT AND SUPERINTENDENT ATTENDED THE SPECIAL OLYMPICS BOWLING, WHICH IS INCREDIBLE. AGAIN, ALL 58 LANES WERE BEING USED BY OUR STUDENTS. AND AS ONE OF THE DIRECTORS SAID TO ME, YOU KNOW, WE DO FOUR DIFFERENT SPORTS. OBVIOUSLY WE DO BOCCE AND WE'VE DONE BOCCE. WE WILL BE DOING BASKETBALL AND TRACK AND FIELD IN THE SPRING. BUT THE IMPORTANCE OF BOWLING IS THIS IS A LIFETIME SPORT, SOMETHING YOU CAN CONTINUE TO DO NO MATTER WHAT AGE YOU ARE. AND THAT'S THE IMPORTANCE OF CONTINUING THE BOWLING. I WAS PRESIDENT AT THE ROWLETT CHAMBER, WHERE WE INVITE RSVP, THE TOP PERFORMING VOCAL GROUP AT ROWLETT HIGH SCHOOL. MS. GRIFFIN WAS THERE AND MR. BEACH WAS THERE AGAIN, AN INCREDIBLE PERFORMANCE FROM THEM. I WASN'T AT TINSEL AND TRIVIA. I THINK YOU'LL PROBABLY HEAR MORE ABOUT THAT, BUT I WAS PLEASED THAT THE ROWLETT CHAMBER FOUNDATION, OF WHICH I AM A VOTING MEMBER, INDICATED WE WOULD BE [00:35:07] DONATING $6,000 AND WITH THE HELP OF ONE NATALIE BEACH, I MADE MY OWN CONTRIBUTION. MS. BEACH IS MY DESIGNATED PICKER TO PICK THE CHARITY OF SORTS, SO THAT WAS SOME MORE DOLLARS. WELL, THANK YOU FOR THAT. AND FINALLY THE LAST MEETING, I INDICATED THAT THE CELEBRATION AT COYLE MIDDLE SCHOOL WOULD BE TAKING PLACE ON JANUARY 11TH BECAUSE OF A CONFLICT WITH SOLO AND ENSEMBLE, WITH A LOT OF THE KIDS WE'VE NOW MOVED IT BACK TO FEBRUARY 1ST. I'D LIKE TO READ A LETTER I THINK THAT WOULD BE IMPORTANT JUST THE SIGNIFICANCE OF WHAT WE'RE CELEBRATING. SO CONN-SELMER IS THE LARGEST MANUFACTURER OF INSTRUMENTS CERTAINLY IN NORTH AMERICA, CERTAINLY IN SOUTH AMERICA. AND WHEN THEY MERGED WITH STEINWAY, I THINK THE SECOND LARGEST MANUFACTURER OF BAND AND ORCHESTRA INSTRUMENTS IN THE WORLD. THIS IS A LETTER FROM A GENTLEMAN NAMED TIM LAUTZENHEISER WHO'S BEEN TOLD TO ME, HE'S LIKE THE WORLD AMBASSADOR FOR MUSIC EDUCATION, AND THIS IS WHAT HE WROTE. DEAR MISS ZOFFUTO, THE 57TH ANNUAL MIDWEST CLINIC IS NOW HISTORY. BUT YOUR EXTRAORDINARY PERFORMANCE ON FRIDAY AFTERNOON, DECEMBER 19TH, WILL LONG BE REMEMBERED BY THOSE OF US WHO WERE FORTUNATE ENOUGH TO BE IN THE AUDIENCE. WE WERE THE BENEFACTORS OF YOUR COMMITMENT AND DEDICATION TO MUSICAL ARTISTRY. THANK YOU. EACH YEAR WITH THE MIDWEST CONCERT THAT KNOCKS ME OUT, IT'S USUALLY THE AIR FORCE BAND OR SOME COLLEGE ENSEMBLE BUT THIS YEAR IT WAS YOU. CLEARLY, YOU AWAKENED ALL OF US TO A NEW LEVEL OF POSSIBILITY. AFTER EACH SELECTION, I WOULD WATCH PEOPLE NODDING TO ONE ANOTHER, GIVING THE TRADITIONAL THUMBS UP, AND AFFIRMATIVELY SHAKING THEIR HEADS IN AWE OF YOUR MATURE SOUND, TECHNICAL ABILITIES, AND INCREDIBLE MUSICAL EXPRESSION. AS ONE OF MY COLLEAGUES SAID, I WANT TO RECRUIT THE ENTIRE GROUP FROM MY UNIVERSITY BAND. WORDS LIKE BRAVO AND CONGRATULATIONS FALL FAR SHORT OF EXPRESSING THE WONDERFUL GIFT OF MUSIC YOU UNSELFISHLY SHARED WITH ALL OF US. IN EVERY DISCIPLINE, THERE ARE CERTAIN EVENTS THAT ARE CONSIDERED THE ULTIMATE. AND I'M SURE YOU KNOW THE MIDWEST STAGE REPRESENTS THE OLYMPICS OF OUR MUSIC EDUCATION WORLD. IT IS TRULY AN ACCOMPLISHMENT OF NOTEWORTHY PRAISE AND DUE CELEBRATION. AND THEN HE SIGNED IT WITH HIS NAME AND THE WORD BRAVO. SO WE BROUGHT 3500 OF THESE BROCHURES, BECAUSE THE INTERNATIONAL BALLROOM AT THE HILTON IN CHICAGO HOLDS JUST ABOUT 3,000 PEOPLE. WE GAVE OUT 3,400 OF THESE BECAUSE THERE WAS STANDING ROOM ONLY BECAUSE THE MOST IMPORTANT CONCERT TIME, THE AFTERNOON ON FRIDAY AFTERNOON WAS NOT RESERVED FOR A GROUP FROM JAPAN WHO WAS THERE, WASN'T RESERVED FOR GROUP FROM ENGLAND WHO WAS THERE. IT WASN'T RESERVED FOR ALL THE COLLEGE BANDS OR AIR FORCE BAND THAT WAS THERE. IT WAS RESERVED FOR COYLE MIDDLE SCHOOL. THANK YOU SIR. THANK YOU, MR. GLICK. MR. BEACH. THANK YOU, PRESIDENT SELDERS. I'VE GOT QUITE A FEW I WANT TO MENTION. FIRST OF ALL, I'LL LET MISS DAPHNE. I DON'T WANT TO RAIN IN ON HER THUNDER AS FAR AS THE EXCHANGE CLUB AT TRIPLE C, BUT THE STUDENTS AND THE VOLUNTEERS THAT MAKE THAT HAPPEN, AS FAR AS WRAPPING GIFTS AND THE SINGERS, THE LAKEVIEW DANCERS AND ALSO THE TYRESE MAXEY FOUNDATION, JUST MAKE THAT AN EVENT THAT IS SO HEARTWARMING. AND THANK TO EVERYONE THAT WAS INVOLVED IN THAT THAT DAY OF ALL 47 ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS. IT WAS AN AMAZING DAY. ALSO, I WANT MY AS FAR AS DISTRICT STAFF AND STUDENTS, DISTRICT STAFF, MY KUDOS GO OUT TO KEITH REIMER AND THE PRAYER HE GAVE AT THE CHAMBER BREAKFAST WHEN WE CLOSED OUT, AND HOW IT BROUGHT THE COMMUNITY TOGETHER AND WHAT HE WAS SO HEARTFELT. I MADE THE HAIR ON MY ARM STAND UP WHEN I WHEN I WAS LISTENING TO IT. SO MY HAT'S OFF TO KEITH AND WHAT HE DID IN THE PRAYER THAT HE SAID AT THIS PRAYER BREAKFAST. I ALSO WENT DOWN TO THE CHRISTMAS TREE LIGHTING ON THE DOWNTOWN GARLAND WHEN THEY DID THAT THE OTHER NIGHT. I'VE NEVER SEEN SO MANY PEOPLE AND STUDENTS FROM GARLAND ISD THAT WERE THERE TO WITNESS IT, AND IT WAS COLD AND BUT IT WAS A GREAT VENUE THERE, SO I WENT TO THAT. ALSO, CONGRATULATIONS TO LISA COX, THE STUDENT VOLUNTEERS, ALL THE OTHER VOLUNTEERS THAT WORKED FOR THE TRIVIA AND TINSEL. A GREAT EVENING AND LISA, MY HATS OFF TO YOU AND WHAT YOU PUT TOGETHER EVERY YEAR WITH JENNY GRAVES AND EVERYBODY THAT WAS INVOLVED THERE. AND WE REALLY THANK YOU FOR ALL YOU DID. ALSO, THANK YOU FOR THE ROWLETT CHAMBER LUNCHEON AND THE PERFORMANCE BY THE ROWLETT SINGERS AND WHAT THEY DO, AND THEY'RE JUST AN OUTSTANDING GROUP OF INDIVIDUALS. ALSO, AS FAR AS DISTRICT STAFF, I WAS ABLE TO GO TO A RETIREMENT. WE HAVE AN INDIVIDUAL IN THE IT DEPARTMENT THAT'S BEEN THERE FOR 35 YEARS. FELECIA JAMERSON AND I WENT AND A LOT OF PEOPLE SHOWED UP, AND IT WAS REALLY A NICE RETIREMENT FOR FELECIA. AND SHE'S, BELIEVE IT OR NOT, SHE'S KIN TO JOHN WASHINGTON. [00:40:01] SO THAT WAS PRETTY COOL. I DIDN'T KNOW THAT UNTIL I WENT TO THAT RETIREMENT. ALSO, ANOTHER STAFF MEMBER OR. I DON'T CALL HIM STAFF MEMBER, BUT JAMES MILLER HE'S A TRUSTEE. BUT JAMES HAD AN OPEN HOUSE AT HIS BANK FOR CHRISTMAS, AND A LOT OF PEOPLE STANDING ROOM ONLY. AND YOU COULDN'T FIND A PLACE TO SIT DOWN. GREAT FOOD, GREAT FELLOWSHIP. AND IT JUST BROUGHT IN THE CHRISTMAS SPIRIT THAT EVERYONE SHOULD, I HOPE, ENJOY, BECAUSE THERE ARE SO MANY PEOPLE OUT THERE THAT THAT MAY BE THE ONLY SMILE THEY SEE OR THE HANDSHAKE THEY GET. SO I JUST WANT TO THANK JAMES FOR OPENING UP HIS BANK AND DOING THAT. AND AGAIN, ALSO THE SPECIAL OLYMPICS THAT I WENT TO THE BOWL-A-RAMA AND NOT BOLERO WITH LARRY AND ROBERT AND DOCTOR LOPEZ. IT WAS A GREAT VENUE. SO THANK YOU FOR THAT, ROBERT. THANK YOU, MR. BEACH. MR. JOHNSON. YES. I ALSO WAS PART OF THE BOARDS TEAM FOR TINSEL AND TRIVIA. WE WERE DEFENDING A TITLE. WE DIDN'T DEFEND IT WELL AS WE FINISHED, I BELIEVE LIKE 13TH PLACE, I THINK. I THINK WE WERE LUCKY 13TH. SO. OH WELL. THE GOOD BUT MY HATS OFF AND CONGRATULATIONS AS MR. GLICK SAID TO THE ROWLETT CHAMBER GROUP. THEY DID OUTSTANDING. OBVIOUSLY IT WAS A RECORD ATTENDANCE CROWD BECAUSE THIS WAS THE FIRST YEAR WE RELOCATED TINSEL AND TRIVIA TO THE CULWELL CENTER. SO WE WERE AT THE BALLROOM OF THE CULWELL CENTER. SO ALSO, HATS OFF TO JOHN WILBORN AND HIS TEAM FOR HANDLING THAT AS THEY DO EVERYTHING WITH GREAT PROFESSIONALISM AND EFFICIENCY. SO IT WAS A REALLY GREAT NIGHT AND I THINK A LOT OF MONEY HAS BEEN RAISED. I'M SURE WE'LL GET STATISTICS IN THE COMING WEEKS ABOUT JUST HOW MUCH WE RAISED WITH RESPECT TO IT, BUT IT LOOKS LIKE IT'S GOING TO BE ANOTHER BRIGHT YEAR FOR GARLAND ISD TEACHERS AND GRANTS MOVING FORWARD FOR THE G REGION SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA CONCERT. GET THAT OUT AT ROWLETT HEATH HIGH SCHOOL. AND I WANT TO TAKE SOME TIME TO DO A TIP OF THE CAP TO OUR THREE MIDDLE SCHOOLS THAT HAVE ORCHESTRAS, BECAUSE WE HAD STUDENTS REPRESENTED IN THE ALL REGION ORCHESTRA FROM ALL OF THOSE, ALL REGION STRING ORCHESTRA FROM THOSE THREE MIDDLE SCHOOLS. AND I WILL TELL YOU, THAT MIDDLE SCHOOL STRING ORCHESTRA CONCERT THAT I HEARD ON SATURDAY WAS AMONGST THE BEST CONCERTS I'VE EVER HEARD ANYWHERE. IT WAS THEY PERFORMED BEETHOVEN'S SEVENTH, AND I CANNOT TELL YOU IT SOUNDED LIKE THE DSO WAS PERFORMING IT. IT WAS AWESOME. IT WAS KNOCK YOUR SOCKS OFF GREAT. IT WAS TOUGH FOR THE HIGH SCHOOLERS TO COME IN AFTERWARDS AND FOLLOW UP, BUT THEY DID. AND THEY DID A GOOD JOB, TOO. BUT IT WAS JUST A REALLY, REALLY GREAT NIGHT OF MUSIC. AND HATS OFF TO ALL OF OUR BAND DIRECTORS AND ORCHESTRA DIRECTORS FOR THE GOOD WORK THEY DO. BY THE WAY, JOSEPH FIGARELLI WAS PRESENT AT IT AND HE SAID HE NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE THAT MIDDLE SCHOOL CONCERT EITHER. AND LAST, IT WAS MY PLEASURE TO ATTEND THE SACHSE CHRISTMAS PARADE AND TREE LIGHTING THAT THEY HAD ABOUT A WEEK AND A HALF AGO IT WAS REALLY NICE TO SEE THE SACHSE COMMUNITY RALLY TOGETHER. WELL ATTENDED EVENT. ALSO A LITTLE COLD. SO IT'S THE CHRISTMAS SEASON. IT SHOULD BE COLD FOR TREE LIGHTINGS, BUT IT WAS GOOD, WELL ATTENDED AND I'M PLEASED TO SEE THAT SACHSE HIGH SCHOOL, THEY PARTICIPATE COMPLETELY. EVERY SINGLE CLUB ORGANIZATION HAS A FLOAT THAT PARTICIPATES IN THAT. SO IT'S A REALLY GOOD COMMUNITY WIDE EVENT. SO THANK YOU TO MAYOR BICKERSTAFF FOR INCLUDING THE GISD IN THAT, AND WE LOOK FORWARD TO PARTICIPATING IN THAT IN YEARS TO COME. THANK YOU. THANK YOU, MR. JOHNSON. MISS STANLEY, THANK YOU. SO FIRST I JUST WANT TO WISH OUR ENTIRE STAFF MERRY CHRISTMAS, HAPPY HOLIDAYS, HAPPY HANUKKAH, WHATEVER IT IS THAT YOU GUYS ARE GOING TO GO DO AND CELEBRATE, MAKE SURE THAT YOU JUST LIKE MR. MILLER SAID, UNWIND AND PAT YOURSELVES ON THE BACK, THAT YOU CONTINUE TO SHOW UP EVERY SINGLE DAY. AND SOMETIMES THAT'S THE HARDEST PART. AND I ALWAYS WALK AWAY. SO WE HAD OUR ANNUAL NOON EXCHANGE AND I GOT TO PARTICIPATE AGAIN THIS YEAR. I BELONG WITH THE NOON EXCHANGE. AND I CAN'T TELL YOU HOW EXCITING IT IS THAT I GET TO DO THIS EVERY YEAR. EVERYONE KNOWS THAT I GET SUPER EXCITED. I DRESS UP, IF THAT SHOULD TELL YOU ANYTHING. I ACTUALLY WEAR A COSTUME, SO. BUT IT'S JUST SO I DON'T THINK ANYBODY UNDERSTANDS HOW LUCKY THE KIDS ARE TO HAVE GISD. I MEAN, THE NOON EXCHANGE GOES IN AND WE AND, YOU KNOW, WE MANAGE THIS, WE SPEND THE MONEY AND WE DO ALL THIS KIND OF STUFF. BUT, YOU KNOW, MISS HOGAN WAS WRAPPING PRESENTS. SHE CAME IN SECOND, I THINK, WITH HER 11 OR 12 BAGS. 12 BAGS. BUT MISS KRISTY DAVIS, DOCTOR LOPEZ'S ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT, 22 BAGS. NOW THAT MEANS 22 KIDS WORTH OF PRESENTS THEY WRAPPED BY THEMSELVES. [00:45:05] I DID A WHOPPING FIVE. JUST SO YOU KNOW, I WANT TO PUT IT ALL IN PERSPECTIVE, BUT EVERYONE WE HAD LEADERSHIP GARLAND THERE. WE HAVE THE DRILL TEAMS. WE HAVE THE DANCE TEAMS. WE HAVE THE CHEERLEADERS, NUTRITION SERVICES. THERE ISN'T ANY PART OF GISD THAT DOES NOT COME TOGETHER FOR THE NOON EXCHANGE TO DO THIS CHRISTMAS PARTY, AND IT IS AMAZING. AND THIS YEAR NUTRITION SERVICES FED THE KIDS AND I STILL I'M GOING TO GO ON ABOUT THAT BECAUSE THAT'S BEEN SOMETHING I WANTED TO HAPPEN FOR THREE YEARS. SO THANK YOU GUYS. AND I JUST I JUST THANK YOU. THANK THANK YOU, DOCTOR LOPEZ. THANK YOU TO THE BOARD, IT'S JUST A GREAT THANK YOU TO ALL. WE HAD CORPORATE SPONSORS THIS YEAR, TWO AND THREE. I THINK IT WAS 374 KIDS WE GOT TO PROVIDE A PARTY TO. AND THAT WAS 374 KIDS THAT I THINK WE ALL GOT THE HUG TOO. AND I THINK THAT WAS THE BEST PART. AND THEN I JUST ALSO WANTED TO CALL OUT WE HAVE OUR SAGE, OUR SPECIAL EDUCATION PARENT SUPPORT GROUP MEETS THURSDAY, DECEMBER 19TH AT 06:30 AT THE HUDSON MIDDLE SCHOOL CAFETERIA. I CAN'T ENCOURAGE PARENTS ENOUGH TO ATTEND THAT SUPPORT GROUP. IT REALLY IS TRULY AMAZING. AND THEN JANUARY 16TH WILL BE AT SACHSE HIGH SCHOOL AT 6:30. AGAIN, I WILL NOT BE ABLE TO ATTEND EITHER ONE OF THOSE BECAUSE I'M TRAVELING BOTH OF THOSE. BUT MY HEART WILL BE WITH YOU GUYS. AND I THINK I'M JUST GOING TO END IT THERE AND JUST SAY THANK YOU TO EVERYONE FOR ALL THAT EVERYONE DOES. THANK YOU, MISS STANLEY. I GUESS I WENT TO A LOT OF THE SAME EVENTS, SO I'M NOT GOING TO KIND OF GO THROUGH THAT. BUT JUST AGAIN, MY HATS OFF, LIKE MANY OF MY COLLEAGUES HAVE SAID TO GARLAND EDUCATION FOUNDATION AND EXCHANGE CLUB, SPECIAL ED DEPARTMENT, ALL OF THE DISTRICT, I MEAN, TEACHERS, STUDENTS FAMILIES EVERYBODY WORKS SO HARD. AND JUST SITTING IN REFLECTION, I THINK ABOUT HOW MUCH WE'VE ACCOMPLISHED JUST IN ONE SEMESTER, NOT, YOU KNOW, LOOKING BACK OVER SEVERAL YEARS, BUT JUST THIS PAST SEMESTER. AND IT'S BEEN SO MUCH. SO I AM SUPER GRATEFUL FOR EVERYONE'S CONTRIBUTION AND THE DEDICATION THAT THEY HAVE TO THIS DISTRICT, AND MAKING SURE THAT ALL OF OUR STUDENTS HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO THRIVE AND HAVE ACCESS TO A HIGH QUALITY EDUCATION. AND IT'S A TESTAMENT TO THE STRENGTH OF OUR COMMUNITY. AND ALSO AT THE SAME TIME, YOU KNOW, TWO THINGS CAN BE TRUE. LIKE YOU CAN HAVE A LOT OF THINGS THAT YOU'VE ACCOMPLISHED. AND ALSO RECOGNIZING THAT YOU ALSO HAVE CHALLENGES THAT YOU NEED TO ADDRESS. AND THERE'S NO SHORTAGE OF THAT. AND SO, AS WITH RELATIONSHIPS OR PARTNERSHIPS, I'M ASSUMING THAT MANY OF YOU GUYS HAVE EITHER BEEN IN ONE OR ARE CURRENTLY IN ONE. YOU KNOW THAT YOU HAVE TO WORK THROUGH SOME THINGS, AND IT TAKES EVERYBODY'S COLLECTIVE EFFORT TO MAKING SURE THAT THE THINGS THAT MATTER, YOU KNOW, HAPPEN THE WAY THAT WE ALL WANT THEM TO. AND SO I ENCOURAGE EACH OF YOU TO TAKE THIS BREAK, TAKE SOME WELL-DESERVED TIME TO YOURSELVES AND TO SPEND WITH YOUR FAMILY AND LOVED ONES. BECAUSE COME NEXT SEMESTER, I'M PRETTY SURE THAT THERE'S GOING TO BE A LOT OF THINGS HAPPENING THEN, TOO. AND SO I WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT YOU GET THE REST, BECAUSE THAT I THINK THE SEMESTER IS GOING TO PROMISE TO BE SOMETHING PRETTY PRETTY INCREDIBLE. AND THAT'S PUTTING IT MILDLY. SO WITH THAT JUST HAVE AN AWESOME BLESSED. AND IF YOU'RE TRAVELING, WHETHER OR NOT YOU'RE TRAVELING OR NOT, HAVE A SAFE HOLIDAY SEASON. AND WITH THAT, I WILL TURN IT OVER TO DOCTOR LOPEZ FOR SUPERINTENDENT MESSAGE. [V.B. Superintendent's Report] WELL, FIRST OF ALL, I WANT TO THANK THE BOARD. YOU GUYS ONCE AGAIN, DO A TREMENDOUS AMOUNT OF WORK THAT IS UNSEEN TO THE PUBLIC, AND YOUR LOVE FOR THE CHILDREN AND STAFF OF OUR DISTRICT IS UNPARALLELED. I ALSO WANT THERE'S A LOT OF CHALLENGES WE HEARD TODAY. SO, YOU KNOW, WE HEARD ABOUT, YOU KNOW, THE CHALLENGE TO DE-STRESS, RIGHT? THE CHALLENGE TO ACCEPT OUR ACHIEVEMENTS. BUT THERE'S STILL THERE'S A LONG ROAD THAT LIES AHEAD OF US THAT WE NEED TO WORK AND THAT COULD BE WITHIN THE WORK ENVIRONMENT, THE RELATIONSHIP ENVIRONMENT. WE ARE ALL PEOPLE AND WE'RE ALL EVOLVING. SEEING EVERYBODY COME TOGETHER FOR THE KIDS IN THE DISTRICT, YOU KNOW I WAS LAUGHING IN MY MIND WHENEVER I HEARD MISS STANLEY TALK ABOUT HOW SHE DRESSES UP. I THINK THAT'S KIND OF AN UNDERSTATEMENT, BECAUSE SHE DOESN'T ONLY DRESS UP. SHE'S IN FULL CHARACTER, RIGHT? AND SHE PUTS I KNOW YOU'VE ALL SEEN THE MOVIE ELF. SHE PUTS THAT ENERGY TO SHAME, YOU KNOW, AND I CAN, I MEAN, BUT IT'S ALL FOR THE CHILDREN. AND THEN, YOU KNOW, PEOPLE GOING TO THE FINE ARTS AND GOING TO MAINTENANCE EVENTS AND GOING TO COMMUNITY EVENTS. [00:50:02] YOU ALL THESE, PEOPLE THAT YOU SEE TO THE LEFT AND RIGHT OF ME ARE SO DEEPLY ENGAGED IN THE COMMUNITY. AND SO I WANT TO THANK YOU. I ALSO WANT TO THANK THE STAFF. THE STAFF DOES WORK TIRELESSLY TO HELP EACH AND EVERY STUDENT. AND YOU'RE RIGHT, THERE'S A LOT OF ACCOMPLISHMENTS THAT THIS DISTRICT HAS DONE. AND THERE'S A LOT OF TIMES THAT THAT WE FALL SHORT, YOU KNOW, AND WE HAD A FEW SPEAKERS TODAY TALK ABOUT SOME OF THE THINGS WHERE THEY FELL SHORT AND WHERE WE FELL SHORT IN. AND IT'S ALWAYS BEAUTIFUL TO SEE PARENTS LOVE THEIR CHILDREN SO MUCH THAT THEY WILL DO ANYTHING TO ADVOCATE FOR THEM. WE NEED MORE PARENTS TO BE INVOLVED IN THEIR CHILDREN'S LIVES. AND SO WHENEVER THESE PARENTS COME UP, THEY ARE HEARD. AND I WANT THE BOARD TO UNDERSTAND THAT WE DO HAVE A PROCESS WHERE WE TRY TO RESOLVE THESE ISSUES AT THE LOWEST FORM POSSIBLE, AND WHEN RESOLVE THEM AT THE LOWEST FORM POSSIBLE, THE POWER, AND THAT IS THAT THE OWNERSHIP IS THERE. BUT IT DOESN'T MEAN WE'RE NOT MONITORING IT FROM WHERE WE'RE AT. AND SO I MAY NOT BE PERSONALLY THERE, BUT I'M ALWAYS GETTING UPDATES AND IN THE KNOW TO MAKE SURE ALL OUR CHILDREN ARE SERVED AT THE HIGHEST LEVEL. AND THAT GOES WITH OUR SPEECH THERAPIES. WE WE ARE WORKING HARD TO MAKE THOSE CONNECTIONS COME FROM SEEKING OUT RETIRED TEACHERS FROM CONSULTING SERVICES. WE'RE TAKING A VERY AGGRESSIVE HIRING PLATFORM. AND SO WE WILL BE FOLLOWING UP WITH THOSE PARENTS, AND WE WILL BE ENSURING THAT THEY DO GET THE SERVICES FOR THE CHILDREN, BECAUSE IT'S REALLY ABOUT THE CHILDREN. AND SO, YOU KNOW, I WANT TO WISH EVERYBODY A MERRY CHRISTMAS. HOWEVER YOU CELEBRATE THIS HOLY TIME. I WANT YOU TO ENGAGE, AND I WANT EVERYBODY JUST TO PROCEED WITH LOVE, EVEN IF IT'S FOR THE SHORT PERIOD OF TIME. AND THEN YOU CAN GO BACK TO WHATEVER YOU'RE DOING. BUT LET'S ALL PROCEED WITH LOVE. YOU KNOW, EVERYBODY IN HERE IS TRYING TO DO THE RIGHT THING. AND SOMETIMES, YOU KNOW THEY WE FEEL LIKE WE'RE NOT PROGRESSING ENOUGH AND WE'RE HARD ON OURSELVES. AND LIKE MR. SELDERS WAS SAYING, SOMETIMES YOU GOT TO TURN AROUND AND LOOK AT THE ROAD YOU JUST TRAVELED AND REALIZE THAT SOMEBODY ELSE ISN'T WALKING IN THE SAME ROAD YOU ARE. BUT YOU WALK THAT ALL THAT MILE AND YOU CAN KEEP GOING FORWARD. SO THOSE DAYS THAT YOU DON'T HAVE ENERGY, KEEP CHARGING ON. THE DISTRICT LOVES YOU. LET'S HAVE A GREAT SAFE BREAK AND I'M GOING TO TURN IT BACK OVER TO YOU, SIR. HAVE A BEAUTIFUL DAY. LET'S KICK THIS THING OFF NOW. AWESOME. THANK YOU, DOCTOR LOPEZ. I DID WANT TO JUST KIND OF CIRCLE BACK ON SOMETHING. MANY OF THE TRUSTEES MENTIONED THE TRIPLE C. WITH THE NOON EXCHANGE CLUB TINSEL AND TRIVIA VOLLEYBALL STATE TOURNAMENT. I DON'T KNOW IF WE REALLY HAVE AN APPRECIATION FOR WHAT THE TRIPLE C IS. IT'S THERE ARE NOT MANY SCHOOL DISTRICTS IN TEXAS THAT HAVE A FACILITY LIKE THAT THAT HAS CONFERENCE SPACES AND ARENA SPACES TO BE ABLE TO HOST ACTIVITIES AND THINGS FOR NOT ONLY COMMUNITY BUT ALSO FOR THE SCHOOL DISTRICT. SO I JUST WANTED TO JUST GIVE A HUGE SHOUT OUT TO MR. WILBORN AND HIS TEAM AGAIN FOR WHAT THEY DO AT THE TRIPLE C AND HOW THEY PULL SUCH MASSIVE EVENTS OFF EFFORTLESSLY. SO WITH THAT, I'M GOING TO GO TO DISCUSSION ITEM C FOR FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS. TRUSTEES, ARE THERE ANY FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS THAT YOU GUYS WOULD LIKE TO SEE? NO. OKAY, THERE ARE NONE. WE'RE GOING TO MOVE TO OUR CONSENT AGENDA WHERE WE CAN CONSIDER THE APPROVAL OF THE HUMAN RESOURCES REPORT. [VI. Consent Agenda] I WILL ENTERTAIN A MOTION. MR. PRESIDENT. YES, SIR. I MOVE THAT WE APPROVE THE HUMAN RESOURCES REPORT AS PRESENTED IN OUR BOARD BOOK AND UPDATE. SECOND. IT'S BEEN MOVED BY MR. JOHNSON AND SECONDED BY MISS GRIFFIN. ANY OTHER QUESTIONS OR DISCUSSION? IF THERE ARE NONE, PREPARE TO VOTE. THIS TIME WE'RE GOING TO USE OUR CLICKERS. OH. OKAY. VOTE CLOSED. THAT MOTION CARRIES SEVEN ZERO. ALL RIGHT. NOW WE'RE GOING TO MOVE TO OUR ACTION ITEMS. [VII.A. Consider Approval of the 2025 Public Information Request Calendar - Lisa Ray] ITEM SEVEN UNDER NON CONSENT. WE'RE GOING TO BE TAKING EACH ITEM SEPARATELY. AND SO WITH THAT I'M GOING TO ASK MISS RAY TO COME FORWARD TO CONSIDER APPROVAL OF THE 2025 PUBLIC INFORMATION REQUEST CALENDAR. GOOD EVENING, TRUSTEES. DOCTOR LOPEZ, I HAVE BEFORE YOU. EXCUSE ME, PRESIDENT SELDERS TRUSTEES, DOCTOR LOPEZ, I HAVE BEFORE YOU FOR APPROVAL THE 2025 PUBLIC INFORMATION REQUEST CALENDAR. [00:55:01] AS YOU RECALL, HB 3033, BACK IN OUR LAST LEGISLATIVE SESSION DESIGNATED THAT SCHOOL DISTRICTS CANNOT JUST HAVE FORECLOSURE WHEN WE'RE CLOSED. FOR PURPOSES OF CALCULATING FOR PUBLIC INFORMATION REQUESTS, WE CAN ONLY DESIGNATE TEN NON-BUSINESS DAYS OUTSIDE OF FEDERAL OR STATE HOLIDAYS. AND BEFORE YOU IN YOUR BOARD BOOK AND ALSO ON THE SCREEN, YOU'LL SEE WHAT WE HAVE PROVIDED FOR YOU. THOSE DATES THAT ARE MARKED IN RED WITH BLOCKS ARE THE GISD CLOSURE DATES? THE ONES THAT ARE IN CIRCLES ARE STATE OR FEDERAL HOLIDAYS, AND THE ONES THAT ARE NOTED BY THE X ARE THE TEN DAYS THAT WE'VE ALLOCATED FOR OUR ACTUAL NON-BUSINESS DAYS FOR CALCULATION. AND THIS IS THE SAME TYPE OF CALENDAR I BROUGHT FOR YOU LAST YEAR AT THIS TIME. AND IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS, I'M HERE TO ANSWER THEM. THANK YOU, MISS RAY. ANY QUESTIONS TRUSTEES? IF THERE ARE NO QUESTIONS, I WILL ENTERTAIN A MOTION. I'LL MAKE A MOTION THAT WE APPROVE THE APPROVAL OF THE 2025 PUBLIC INFORMATION REQUEST CALENDAR THAT'S BEEN BROUGHT FORWARD IN OUR BOOKLET. SECOND. IT'S BEEN MOVED BY MR. BEACH AND SECONDED BY MR. GLICK. IS THERE ANY FURTHER DISCUSSION OR ANY QUESTIONS? THERE ARE NONE. PREPARE TO VOTE. THE VOTE IS OPEN. VOTE CLOSED. MOTION CARRIES SEVEN ZERO. THANK YOU TRUSTEES. THANK YOU, MS. RAY. WE'LL NOW MOVE TO ITEM B. CONSIDER APPROVAL OF BUDGET TRANSFERS AND AMENDMENTS TO THE 2024-25 GENERAL FUND. [VII.B. Consider Approval of Budget Transfers and Amendments to the 2024-25 General Fund - Elisa Cordova-Long] MISS CORDOVA-LONG. GOOD EVENING, PRESIDENT SELDERS. MEMBERS OF THE BOARD, DOCTOR LOPEZ. TONIGHT WE HAVE. WE ASK FOR YOU TO APPROVE THE DECEMBER BUDGET TRANSFERS AND AMENDMENTS TO THE GENERAL FUND. THE ONLY ITEMS WE HAVE, THE ONLY ADJUSTMENTS WE HAVE ARE THE CROSS FUNCTIONAL BALANCE, NEUTRAL TRANSFERS THAT HAVE NO BUDGET IMPACT. ARE THERE ANY QUESTIONS? THANK YOU. ANY QUESTIONS, MR. MILLER? NO QUESTIONS. I WAS GOING TO MAKE A MOTION. OKAY, GO FOR IT. I'M SORRY. MR. PRESIDENT, I WOULD MOVE GENERAL FUND AS PRESENTED TONIGHT IN OUR BOARD VOTE. SECOND. IT'S BEEN MOVED BY MR. MILLER, SECONDED BY MR. GLICK. ANY ADDITIONAL QUESTIONS OR FURTHER DISCUSSION? THERE IS NONE. PREPARE TO VOTE. VOTE OPEN. VOTE CLOSED. MOTION CARRIES SEVEN ZERO. THANK YOU. I'M GOING TO NOW MOVE TO OUR NEW BIDS. [VII.C. New Bids] WE HAVE A SERIES OF BIDS HERE THAT ARE GOING TO COME BEFORE US. DOCTOR LOPEZ. THANK YOU, PRESIDENT SELDERS. TRUSTEES, YOU'RE GOING TO NOTICE THIS ISN'T A LONG LIST OF NEW BIDS. THE TEAM HAS DONE AN EXTENSIVE JOB OF STARTING TO SCRUB, AND WHAT WE'RE LOOKING AT IS MAKING OUR BUDGET STICK. AND SO THERE'S GOING TO BE A LOT OF THINGS THAT WE'RE GOING TO BE EXCLUDING. UNFORTUNATELY, YOU MIGHT BE HEARING IT FROM THE CAMPUSES. BUT WE NEED TO START STREAMLINING EVERYTHING THAT WE'RE DOING AND REALLY PRIORITIZING. SO YOU'RE GOING TO START SEEING SHORTER SCALES ON OUR NEW BID WORK. SO TAKE IT OVER, MR. BOOKER. YES, SIR. YES, MA'AM. MS. GRIFFIN. YES. QUESTION. DOCTOR LOPEZ, YOU WANT TO PUT SOME MORE EXPLANATION AROUND THAT BECAUSE YOU SAID WE'RE GOING TO STICK TO OUR BUDGET. AND CAN YOU JUST PUT SOME MORE CLARITY TO THAT TO SAY IF IT'S IN THE BUDGET? I DON'T WANT TO PUT WORDS IN YOUR MOUTH. GOT IT. THAT IS IF IT'S IN THE BUDGET, THEN THERE IS NO NEED TO PULL IT OUT OR WHATEVER. OKAY. RIGHT, RIGHT. SO ONE OF THE THINGS THAT WE'RE REALLY LOOKING AT IS REPLICATION OF SERVICES. SO A LOT OF SCHOOLS AND IN OUR DISTRICT WILL MIGHT HAVE 3 OR 4 THINGS BECAUSE WHAT WE HAVE DONE A GREAT JOB IS ALLOWING PEOPLE TO PICK WHAT WORKS BEST FOR THEM. AND NOW WE'RE SAYING, WELL, IT WILL BE CHEAPER IF WE GO THROUGH ONE VENDING SYSTEM, SO YOU'LL SEE SOME OF THAT. YOU'LL ALSO SEE THAT THERE'S SOME THINGS THAT AREN'T GOING TO BE EXTENDED IN THE YEARS TO COME. AND IT'S ALL GOING WITHIN THE BUDGET CYCLE. SO YOU'RE GOING TO START SEEING SOMETIMES THERE'S RENEWAL BIDS AND RENEWAL CONTRACTS. THE TEAM IS ALREADY STARTING FROM CURRICULUM TO INSTRUCTION TO OPERATIONS ON SOME OF THOSE SERVICES THAT WE'RE GOING TO HAVE TO LEARN TO DO [01:00:03] WITHOUT. AND WE STILL NEED TO OPERATE, AND WE'RE STILL OPERATING ON 2019 FUNDS, AND WE'RE HERE IN 2025 NOW. SO SOMETHING'S GOT TO GIVE. AND WE GOT TO MAKE THOSE NECESSARY ADJUSTMENTS COMING UP. SO WE DON'T KEEP GOING FOR 2025 2026 SCHOOL YEAR. AND YEAH I JUST WANTED TO SAY THAT IT'S GETTING BACK IN LINE TO WHEN WE CAME UP WITH THE CONTRACT RENEWALS AND HOW WE STREAMLINE THAT AND PUT THAT AROUND SO THAT WE ARE DEALING WITH THE ISSUES THAT WE REALLY NEED TO VOTE ON. SO THANK YOU FOR THAT. QUICK QUESTION. YES, SIR. I NEED TO ASK THIS QUESTION. WHEN YOU TALK ABOUT THE FINANCIAL IMPACT AND FUNDING SOURCE, WHEN IT TALKS ABOUT FUND 240 NATIONAL SCHOOL BREAKFAST, IS THAT FEDERAL FUNDS THAT ARE COMING IN THERE. AND WHEN IT DOES SAY THAT IF THAT IS THE CASE, IT SAYS NOT TO EXCEED $2 MILLION, I DON'T GET THE CORRELATION BETWEEN I MEAN, IS THAT WHAT IT COSTS FOR US TO DO THIS PROGRAM FOR FUND 240 OR WHAT IS THE INITIAL IMPACT? IF I COULD MR. BEACH THE STUDENT NUTRITIONAL SERVICES DEPARTMENT HAS IDENTIFIED THE AMOUNT OF MONEY, IN THIS CASE, THE NOT TO EXCEED AMOUNT OF $2 MILLION TO SUPPORT THE CONTINUANCE OF THE MIDDLE SCHOOL AND HIGH SCHOOL MENU ITEM LINE REPLACEMENT. SO THAT FUNDING BASICALLY THAT COMES OUT OF THAT FUND THE STUDENT NUTRITIONAL SERVICES IDENTIFIES THEIR MOST IMPORTANT NEEDS AND UTILIZES THOSE FUNDS BASED ON THEIR NEEDS. SO $2 MILLION WILL COME OUT OF THAT 242 TO DO THOSE IMPROVEMENTS. YES, SIR. OKAY. THANK YOU. YOU'RE WELCOME. MR. BOOKER? YES, SIR. ONCE AGAIN, THIS CONTRACT BEFORE YOU CONTRACT 5124-06 IS FOR SERVING LINE REPLACEMENT WILL BE FUNDED BY THE NATIONAL SCHOOL FOOD, BREAKFAST AND LUNCH PROGRAM WITH A NOT TO EXCEED AMOUNT OF $2 MILLION. THE DISTRICT IS AWARDING THOSE CONTRACTS TO PASCO BROKERAGE AS THE PRIMARY AND OSWALD EQUIPMENT AS THE ALTERNATE. THE EXHIBIT A IDENTIFIES THE RATING EVALUATION CRITERIA THAT WAS UTILIZED IN COMING TO THAT AWARD. BE HAPPY TO ENTERTAIN ANY QUESTIONS YOU MIGHT HAVE ABOUT THE CONTRACT. THANK YOU, MR. BOOKER. ANY ADDITIONAL QUESTIONS, TRUSTEES, THAT YOU HAVE? THERE ARE NO QUESTIONS. I WILL ENTERTAIN A MOTION, MR. MILLER. MR. PRESIDENT, I MOVE TO APPROVE CONTRACT 51-24-06 SERVING LINE REPLACEMENT FOR HIGH SCHOOLS, MIDDLE SCHOOLS AS PRESENTED TO US TONIGHT IN OUR BOARD VOTE. SECOND. IT'S BEEN MOVED BY MR. MILLER, SECONDED BY MR. GLICK. IS THERE ANY ADDITIONAL DISCUSSION OR QUESTIONS? IF THERE IS NONE, PREPARE TO VOTE. VOTE IS OPEN. THE VOTE IS CLOSED. THAT MOTION CARRIES SEVEN ZERO. YOU MAY CONTINUE, MR. BOOKER. THANK YOU. YES, SIR. THE NEXT CONTRACT BEFORE YOU FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION IS THE PURCHASE OF AWARD JACKETS, BLANKETS AND PATCHES. THE DISTRICT IT IS A NEW AWARD REPLACEMENT. IT IS USED BY THE ATHLETICS, AS WELL AS ACADEMICS AND OTHER DEPARTMENTS THAT MAY HAVE NEED FOR AWARD JACKETS, BLANKETS AND PATCHES. IT'S A NEW AWARD REPLACEMENT WITH ONE YEAR CONTRACT WITH THREE ANNUALLY RENEWABLE OPTIONS. THE NOT TO EXCEED AMOUNT IS $125,000 PAID FOR OUT OF THE GENERAL FUNDS. THE TWO CONTRACTS THAT ARE BEING RECOGNIZED FOR AN AWARD WOULD BE TEXAS STAR RECOGNITION AND MOCK HOLDINGS. YOU'LL IDENTIFY THAT THERE WERE THOSE ARE THE PRIMARY IS TEXAS STAR RECOGNITION AND MOCK HOLDINGS IS THE ALTERNATE. WE'LL BE HAPPY TO ENTERTAIN ANY QUESTIONS YOU MIGHT HAVE REGARDING THAT CONTRACT. THANK YOU. ANY QUESTIONS TRUSTEES? IF THERE ARE NO QUESTIONS. I'LL ENTERTAIN A MOTION. MS. STANLEY. I MOVE TO APPROVE. CONSIDER APPROVAL OF THE PURCHASE OF AWARD JACKETS, BLANKETS AND PATCHES FOR RFP 280-25 AS PRINTED IN OUR BOARD BOOK. SECOND. IT'S BEEN MOVED BY MISS STANLEY, SECONDED BY MR. MILLER. ANY FURTHER DISCUSSION OR QUESTIONS. IF THERE ARE NONE, PREPARE TO VOTE. VOTE OPEN. VOTE CLOSED. MOTION CARRIES SEVEN ZERO. YOU MAY PROCEED, MR. BOOKER. YES, SIR. THE NEXT CONTRACT BEFORE YOU FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION IS THE PURCHASE OF SPECIAL EDUCATION SERVICES. THE DEPARTMENT OF STUDENT SUPPORT AND SPECIALIZED SERVICES IS CONTINUING TO LOOK FOR CONTRACTED SERVICES TO MEET THE NEEDS OF OUR STUDENT [01:05:01] POPULATION. THIS CONTRACT THAT IS BEING RECOMMENDED IS TO SPOTTER STAFFING. IT IS A NEW AWARD REPLACEMENT. IT IS A COOPERATIVE PURCHASING CONTRACT WITH A CONTRACT ONE YEAR WITH FOUR ANNUALLY RENEWABLE OPTIONS. THE NOT TO EXCEED AMOUNT IS $500,000, WHICH WOULD BE PAID FOR OUT OF THE GENERAL FUND. BE HAPPY TO ENTERTAIN ANY QUESTIONS YOU MIGHT HAVE REGARDING THAT CONTRACT. THANK YOU, MR. BOOKER. ANY QUESTIONS, MR. MILLER, I'D LIKE TO MAKE A MOTION. YES, SIR. I'M SORRY. MS. STANLEY HAS A QUESTION. LET ME PAUSE. OKAY. SORRY ABOUT THAT. I'LL COME BACK TO YOU. MISS STANLEY. SO IS THIS IN ADDITION TO SOME OF THE OTHER THINGS THAT WE'VE APPROVED RECENTLY? SO THIS IS JUST ANOTHER AVENUE THAT WE'RE TRYING TO SECURE SERVICES. YES, MA'AM. WE ARE VERY AGGRESSIVELY LOOKING FOR ALL OF THE ADDITIONAL CONTRACTORS THAT ARE AVAILABLE TO PROVIDE THOSE SERVICES THAT THE DISTRICTS IN NEED OF. SO AS WE COME ACROSS ADDITIONAL CONTRACTS THAT CAN MEET THE NEEDS OF OUR STUDENTS, WE WILL BE BRINGING THOSE BACK TO ADD TO THE PROGRAM. OKAY, OKAY. I THOUGHT PREVIOUSLY WE THOUGHT WE HAD THEM ALL, BUT I GET WHAT YOU'RE SAYING. OKAY, OKAY. AS LONG AS I UNDERSTAND. THANK YOU. ANY OTHER QUESTIONS? MR. MILLER? THANK YOU. I WOULD LIKE TO MAKE A MOTION THAT WE APPROVE. CONTRACT 394-25-02 SPECIAL EDUCATION SERVICES AS PRESENTED TO US TONIGHT IN OUR BOARD BOOK. SECOND. IT'S BEEN MOVED BY MR. MILLER, SECONDED BY MR. GLICK. ANY ADDITIONAL QUESTIONS OR DISCUSSION? THERE IS NONE. PREPARE TO VOTE. VOTE OPEN. VOTE CLOSED. MOTION CARRIES SEVEN ZERO. MAY CONTINUE, MR. BOOKER. YES, SIR. THE NEXT CONTRACT FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION IS FOR THE PURCHASE OF INSTRUCTIONAL SOFTWARE LICENSING, SUBSCRIPTION HARDWARE AND SERVICES WOULD BRING TO YOUR ATTENTION THAT THIS IS WHAT WE CALL AN EXTENDED RFP, WHICH IS OPEN ALL YEAR. THE ADVANTAGES OF DOING THAT IS THE INSTRUCTIONAL DEPARTMENT CAN REACT TO AWARDING BIDS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR OR RFP SO THAT WE CAN GET THOSE SERVICES TO OUR STUDENTS AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE. SO BASICALLY, THIS CONTRACT WOULD REMAIN OPEN FOR THE YEAR. AND AS AWARDS ARE MADE THAT EXCEED THE $75,000 THRESHOLD, WE WOULD BE BRINGING THEM BACK FOR APPROVAL. THANK YOU FOR THAT. THIS PARTICULAR CONTRACT, THE RECOMMENDATION IS FOR $350,000 FOR THOSE CONTRACTORS THAT ARE IDENTIFIED ON EXHIBIT A TO W INTERNATIONAL PROGRESS LEARNING, HORIZON PREP LLC, MID RISE LEARNING, AND READY MADE MUSIC, LLC. THANK YOU. ANY QUESTIONS? MR. MILLER? AGAIN, I'D LIKE TO MAKE A MOTION. SEEING NO QUESTIONS, I WOULD MOVE TO APPROVE CONTRACT 397-25-02 FOR INSTRUCTIONAL SOFTWARE LICENSING SUBSCRIPTION HARDWARE SERVICES, AS PRESENTED TO US TONIGHT IN OUR BOARD BOOK. SECOND. IT'S BEEN MOVED BY MR. MILLER, SECONDED BY MR. GLICK. ANY ADDITIONAL DISCUSSION OR QUESTIONS? THERE ARE NONE. PREPARE TO VOTE. VOTE IS NOW OPEN. VOTE CLOSE? MOTION CARRIES SEVEN ZERO. WE WILL NOW MOVE INTO EXECUTIVE. [VIII. Executive Session] IT IS 6:16 AND WE WILL NOW MOVE INTO EXECUTIVE SESSION. EXECUTIVE SESSION WILL BE HELD FOR PURPOSES PERMITTED BY TEXAS OPEN MEETINGS ACT.
