[I. Call to Order and Determination of Quorum] [00:00:05] GOOD AFTERNOON, IT IS 4:30. I'M CALLING TO ORDER THE GARLAND INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT. BOARD OF TRUSTEES BOARD MEETING, BOND MEETING, SPECIAL BOND MEETING FOR TUESDAY, JANUARY 14TH, 2025. DETERMINED THAT A QUORUM IS PRESENT AND WE WILL PROCEED WITH OUR AGENDA AS PRINTED. MISS HOGAN, ARE THERE ANY PUBLIC FORUM COMMENTS? THANK YOU. NEXT ITEM UP IS SUPERINTENDENT'S MESSAGE. [III. Superintendent's Message] DOCTOR LOPEZ. THANK YOU, PRESIDENT SELDERS. WE HAVE A BRIEF BOND UPDATE MEETING. NOT VERY HEAVY ON THE AGENDA, BUT IT COMES IN WAVES. WE'RE REALLY EXCITED ABOUT SOME OF THE PROGRESS BEING MADE, ESPECIALLY WITH THE TWO NEW ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS. AND THE LEVELING HAS BEEN COMPLETED. JUST A BRIEF REMINDER. USUALLY, WE'RE IN A TWO WEEK CYCLE, AND OUR NEXT BOARD MEETING IS GOING TO BE ON THE 28TH. IT'S GOING TO BE ON THE 21ST OF THIS MONTH. SO THANK YOU. THANK YOU. WE'LL NOW PROCEED TO ITEM FOUR. INFORMATION ITEMS, 4A, RECEIVE PRESENTATION ON BOND 2023 PROGRAM SUMMARY UPDATE. [IV.A. Receive Presentation on Bond 2023 Program Summary Update – Javier Fernandez] MR. FERNANDEZ. GOOD AFTERNOON. BOARD PRESIDENT SELDERS. MEMBERS OF THE BOARD. DOCTOR LOPEZ, HERE TODAY TO PRESENT TO YOU OUR JANUARY BOND PROGRAM SUMMARY UPDATE. FOR OUR COMMUNITY. OUR BOND PROGRAM IS MADE UP OF THREE SEPARATE PROPOSITIONS FOR A TOTAL OF 1.279 BILLION. AN UPDATE ON OUR PROGRESS THAT WE CAN REPORT ARE SOFTBALL AND BASEBALL PROJECTS. YOU CAN SEE THERE THE SCHEDULE TIMELINE THAT WE HAVE FOR THE THREE DIFFERENT PHASES, THREE DIFFERENT PARTS, EXCUSE ME. AND A BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE INFORMATION THAT'S GOING ON WITH THE PARTS. SO PART ONE, WE ARE CLOSING OUT THIS MONTH. WE'LL BE ABLE TO FINISH THAT OUT ON THE PART TWO. WE DID GET OUR TURF DELIVERED FOR THE SOFTBALL FIELDS LAST MONTH. OUR BASEBALL TURF INSTALLATION IS COMMENCING THIS MONTH AND OUR DUGOUT COMPLETION FOR NAAMAN FOREST HIGH SCHOOL. THAT HAS GOT A LITTLE BIT OF A DELAY. AND SO, AS A SLIDE SHOWS, WE'RE GOING TO COMPLETE IT WILL BE COMPLETED IN FEBRUARY OF THIS YEAR. SO WE'RE WORKING TO COMPLETING THAT AT THE END OF FEBRUARY. PART THREE ARE THE ENVIRONMENTAL PHASE TWO IS COMPLETE FOR THE GARLAND HIGH SCHOOL LOCATION. OUR DEMOLITION CSP. WE'RE STILL SCHEDULED TO ISSUE THAT IN MARCH, AND WE WILL BE ISSUING OUR DESIGN FOR THE NEW SOFTBALL AND BASEBALL COMPLEX THERE FOR GARLAND HIGH SCHOOL WILL BE ISSUED OUT IN APRIL OF THIS YEAR. SO WE APPRECIATE ALL OF THE EFFORTS THAT OUR COACHES AND CAMPUSES ARE DOING TO HELP FACILITATE THE WORK THAT'S TAKING PLACE AT OUR FACILITIES. THESE PHOTOS HERE ARE OF EARLY DECEMBER THAT YOU SEE THAT THE WORK IS BEING TAKEN PLACE. SO THIS IS SOUTH GARLAND HIGH SCHOOL, THE SOFTBALL FIELD AND THE BASEBALL FIELD. THIS IS NORTH GARLAND HIGH SCHOOL. YOU CAN SEE THE FIELDS THAT ARE COMING TOGETHER ARE BACKSTOPS THAT ARE COMING TOGETHER REAL WELL FOR THE SOFTBALL AND BASEBALL. THIS IS LAKEVIEW CENTENNIAL SOFTBALL AND THE BASEBALL FIELDS. THESE ARE THE PHOTOS THAT ARE TAKING PLACE THERE. OUR FIELD HOUSES IN MAX THAT REVOLVES AROUND SEVEN HIGH SCHOOLS. WE'VE ACTUALLY RECEIVED OUR, WE WERE ABLE TO RECEIVE OUR SITE AND UTILITY PERMIT FOR THE NAAMAN FOREST CAMPUS. SO WE'VE COMPLETED THE DEMOLITION OF THE TENNIS COURTS THERE, AND WE'RE MOVING FORWARD WITH THE UTILITIES AND GRADING FOR NAAMAN FOREST. SO APPRECIATE GARLAND CITY OF GARLAND FOR ASSISTING US IN THAT. WE'RE VERY CLOSE TO GETTING OUR UTILITIES AND GRADING PERMITS FOR THE CITY OF ROWLETT. WE'VE BEEN WORKING WITH THEM. WE HAD A VERY POSITIVE MEETING WITH THE CITY LAST WEEK THAT WAS VERY FRUITFUL. AND SO WE ARE MOVING FORWARD WITH THAT. WE EXPECT TO RECEIVE THAT HERE WITHIN THIS WEEK. EARLY NEXT WEEK, WE'LL GET OUR PERMIT FOR GRADING AND UTILITIES FOR ROWLETT. THE OTHER CAMPUSES WE'RE WORKING THROUGH WITH THE MUNICIPALITIES ON RESPONDING BACK TO SOME OF THEIR COMMENTS, AND OUR GOAL IS TO HAVE THOSE COMPLETED. WE REALLY FEEL THAT WE'RE REALLY, REALLY CLOSE TO GETTING ALL OF THE SITE PERMITS FOR THE REMAINING CAMPUSES HERE. WITHIN THE NEXT WEEK OR TWO, WE SHOULD BE READY TO GO. SO, THERE'LL BE A LOT OF MOVING PARTS ON THIS PIECE. ON FREEMAN ELEMENTARY, THIS PROJECT. [00:05:02] LET ME GET TO IT. BEAR WITH ME. SO, FREMONT ELEMENTARY, YOU CAN SEE THE GMP TWO WAS ISSUED FOR SOLICITATION IN DECEMBER. WE EXPECT TO RECEIVE OUR GMP NUMBER TWO FOR FREMONT ELEMENTARY ON THE 16TH. THAT'S THIS WEEK. WE'LL RECEIVE THAT FROM THE CONSTRUCTION MANAGER AT RISK. WE'LL REVIEW THAT INFORMATION. AND OUR GOAL IS TO BRING THAT BACK TO THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES IN FEBRUARY FOR A RECOMMENDATION. HILLSIDE. KIMBERLIN ACADEMY. OUR GMP NUMBER TWO, WE EXPECT TO RECEIVE THE INITIAL GMP DOCUMENTS FROM OUR CONSTRUCTION MANAGER AT RISK ON IN FEBRUARY. ON FEBRUARY THE 6TH, WHICH WILL ALLOW US TO COME BACK TO THE BOARD FOR RECOMMENDATION. IN MARCH OF THIS YEAR, FOR RECOMMENDING FOR THE WORK THAT TO TAKE PLACE AT THE KIMBERLIN ACADEMY SITE. LAKEVIEW, CENTENNIAL, NAAMAN FOREST. WE ACTUALLY RECEIVED OUR 95% CONSTRUCTION DOCUMENTS ON THE 10TH OF THIS MONTH. SO WE'RE REVIEWING THOSE DOCUMENTS. AND SO WE ARE IN LINE WITH THE INFORMATION. YOU SEE THEIR DOCUMENTS TO BE DONE BY FEBRUARY. AND SO, OUR GOAL IS TO ACTUALLY START CONSTRUCTION IN MAY OF THIS YEAR. OUR PLAYGROUNDS PROJECTS, THOSE ARE ACTUALLY OUT TO BID. WE EXPECT TO RECEIVE BIDS BACK OUR SOLICITATIONS. WE'LL RECEIVE A RESPONSE TO OUR SOLICITATIONS THIS WEEK ON THE 16TH. WE'LL RECEIVE THOSE RESPONSES BACK. WE'LL VET THOSE OUT, WE'LL EVALUATE THOSE. AND OUR PLAN IS TO BRING BACK A RECOMMENDATION TO THE BOARD OF THE ITEMS THAT WERE SUBMITTED IN MARCH. AGAIN, THIS IS A CSP PROJECT, A COMPETITIVE SEALED PROPOSAL PROJECT THAT IS DIFFERENT THAN THE SEYMOUR PROJECT. SO WE PLAN ON BRINGING THAT TO YOU IN MARCH. SAME THING WITH OUR FENCING PROJECT FOR ALL OF OUR ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS. WE HAVE EXPECT TO HAVE OUR SOLICITATIONS, RESPONSES TO OUR SOLICITATIONS WILL BE OPENING THOSE UP ON THE 16TH THIS WEEK AND BEING ABLE TO VET THOSE OUT, DO AN EVALUATION. AND THE GOAL IS TO BRING THAT PROJECT BACK TO YOU IN MARCH OF THIS YEAR. THERE ARE FIRE ALARM UPDATES. YOU CAN SEE THERE. WE'VE GOT ETHERIDGE AND PARSONS INSTALLATION IS ONGOING. WE CAN REPORT OUT THAT PARSONS IS 100%. SO WE'VE BEEN ABLE TO COMPLETE THAT. AND ETHERIDGE IS ABOUT 90% COMPLETE AT THIS TIME. WE ACTUALLY HAVE STARTED THE AT THE BRANDENBURG. ACCORDING TO THE DOCUMENTATION YOU SEE HERE, WE HAD MATERIALS ON ORDER. WE'VE ACTUALLY STARTED THE BRANDENBURG PROJECT. THE REST OF THE PROJECTS. YOU SEE ABBOTT AND COUCH FOR PHASE TWO. WE'VE SUBMITTED FOR PURCHASE ORDERS THERE. AND ON PHASE THREE, WE'RE ACTUALLY COURTING SITE SURVEYS FOR THE CAMPUSES THAT YOU SEE THERE AS PART OF PHASE THREE. THE SECURITY CAMERA REFRESH. WE'RE STILL ON SCHEDULE FOR THE PHASE ONE TO START INSTALLATION BE MID TO LATE FEBRUARY. WE EXPECT TO RECEIVE TO COMPLETE THAT PROJECT BY JULY OF THIS YEAR. AND THEN OUR PHASE TWO WILL FOLLOW RIGHT BEHIND PHASE ONE, WHICH WILL COMMENCE IN JULY. AND THEN WE WILL PROCEED INTO PHASE THREE. YOU CAN SEE THE INFORMATION THAT WE'VE GOT THERE. WE'RE STILL DOING DOCUMENT EXCHANGE FOR THE PHASE THREE PIECE. WE'VE ACTUALLY COMPLETED OUR SIDEWALKS FOR THE PHASE THREE. SO A LOT OF WORK THAT'S BEING TAKEN PLACE ON THE SECURITY CAMERA REFRESH AND SO MOVING FORWARD WITH THAT ON THE ACCESS CONTROL PURCHASE ORDERS WERE SUBMITTED THIS YEAR, THIS MONTH, AND WE EXPECT TO START INSTALLATION FOR THE PHASE ONE OF THE ACCESS CONTROL IN FEBRUARY OF THIS YEAR. AND SO THAT ONE, WE EXPECT TO TAKE US FROM FEBRUARY TO MARCH. SO ABOUT TWO MONTHS OF A PROJECT, AND THEN WE'LL START THE INSTALLATION OF THE PHASE TWO UPON THE COMPLETION OF PHASE ONE. AND PHASE THREE WILL COMMENCE UPON THE COMPLETION OF PHASE TWO. OUR DOOR HARDWARE AND KEYING PROJECT, THAT'S 64 CAMPUSES. WE ARE ON SCHEDULE TO START OUR HARDWARE DOOR HARDWARE FOR ALL OF OUR SEVEN HIGH SCHOOLS. REMIND YOU THAT THIS IS A DOOR HARDWARE AND KEYING UPGRADE. AND IT'S ONLY FOR SELECTED DOORS WITHIN THE CAMPUSES THAT WERE NOT UPGRADED IN THE 2014 BOND. SO IT'S NOT REPLACING ALL OF THE HARDWARE AT EVERY SPECIFIC CAMPUS. IT'S ONLY REPLACING THE ITEMS THAT WERE NOT TAKEN CARE OF AT THE LAST BOND PROGRAM. SO SOME OF THESE HAVE, SO THERE'S VARIATIONS BETWEEN EACH CAMPUS. [00:10:04] ON THE PHASE TWO, THE LINDA GRIFFIN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, THE PLANNING AND CHARRETTE MEETINGS WERE COMPLETE. WE ACTUALLY HAD AN OPPORTUNITY RIGHT BEFORE THE BREAK TO VISIT WITH SOME OTHER CAMPUSES, OTHER SCHOOL DISTRICTS TO GET A BETTER UNDERSTANDING OF SOME OF THE LATEST DESIGNS FROM THE ARCHITECTURAL FIRM WHO HAS BEEN SELECTED TO WORK ON THIS PROJECT HERE. SO THAT PROJECT IS MOVING ALONG NICELY. WE'VE GOT SOME INTERNAL MEETINGS THAT WE'RE COORDINATING, AND WE'LL BE BRINGING BACK SOME INFORMATION TO SHARE WITH THE BOARD AS WE MOVE THAT PROJECT FURTHER ALONG OUR NEW AGRICULTURAL SCIENCE FACILITY. WE HAD A DESIGN CHARRETTE IN DECEMBER THAT WAS VERY SUCCESSFUL. AND SO WE'RE MOVING FORWARD WITH THE DESIGN SCHEDULE WITH THAT. THAT ONE'S MOVING ALONG REALLY NICELY. WE'LL BE ABLE TO BRING THAT BACK TO YOU HERE WITHIN THE MONTH AND A HALF, BE ABLE TO BRING SOMETHING BACK TO YOU TO KIND OF SHARE WITH YOU WHERE WE'RE AT ON THE NEW SCIENCE FACILITY, THE SOUTH GARLAND HIGH SCHOOL AND THE NORTH GARDEN HIGH SCHOOL PROJECTS. WE'RE ACTUALLY DOING SCOPE VERIFICATION FOR THAT PROJECT, MAKING SURE THAT WE'VE GOT ALL THE SCOPE THAT NEEDS TO BE TAKEN PLACE FOR THOSE TWO HIGH SCHOOLS, THE HICKMAN NORTH LAKE ROWLETT AND TOLAR ELEMENTARIES. WE PLAN ON HAVING A SCOPE TO BUDGET COMPLETED THIS MONTH. AND THEN WE'LL BE ABLE TO ROLL RIGHT INTO SCHEMATIC DESIGN FOR THAT PROJECT THERE. THE ROOFING PROJECT, THE ROOFING PACKAGE THAT YOU SEE THERE, THAT'S SCHEMATIC DESIGN PRESENTATION. WILL WE HAVE A PRESENTATION THAT COMMENCES IN THE NEXT AGENDA ITEM OF THIS MEETING TO KIND OF SHARE WITH YOU WHERE WE'RE AT ON THAT PROJECT, PLUS THE PHASE TWO PERIMETER FENCING AT OUR HIGH SCHOOLS, MIDDLE SCHOOLS AND SPECIAL SERVICES. WE COMPLETED OUR CAMPUS INTERVIEWS AND SITE USAGE OBSERVATIONS. WE'RE WORKING WITH THE DESIGN SCHEDULE AND WORKING TO MOVE THAT PROJECT FORWARD WITH OUR DESIGN TEAM. OUR INTRUSION ALARM. THERE'S ACTUALLY SEVERAL CAMPUSES THAT PERTAIN IN THE BOND PROGRAM THAT HAVE INTRUSION ALARM UPGRADES, BUT THE PHASE TWO BID BACK 12 ONLY INCLUDES BEAVER ELEMENTARY. AND SO WE'VE ISSUED PURCHASE REQUISITIONS TO COMMENCE THAT WORK THERE. THE WATERPROOFING AND CLADDING PROJECT THAT ACTUALLY HAS 35 ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS AND ONE SPECIAL PROGRAMS FACILITY. THAT ASSESSMENT. THE ASSESSMENTS ARE TAKING PLACE NOW, AND WE EXPECT THOSE TO BE COMPLETED IN MARCH. SO WE'RE ASSESSING THE BUILDINGS, LOOKING AT THE ACTUAL WHAT THE WATERPROOFING AND CLADDING DOES FOR US IS THAT'S THE BUILDING ENVELOPE FOR OUR BUILDINGS. THAT'S TO ENSURE THAT WE'VE GOT THE BUILDING ENVELOPE ITSELF IS WATERPROOF. WE'VE GOT A LOT OF EXPANSION JOINTS THAT ARE WEATHERED, OUTDATED. WE'VE GOT SOME WHERE WE HAVE BRICKS, WHERE WE'VE GOT POINTING. WE CALL IT POINTING OF THE BRICKS IS WHERE WE CORRECT SOME OF THE GROUT THAT'S AGED OVER THE YEARS. AND WE GO BACK, AND WE FILL THAT BACK IN. WE TAKE CARE OF ANY WEATHERING THAT HAS OCCURRED WITHIN OUR DOORS, WITHIN AROUND OUR DOORS, AROUND OUR WINDOWS. AND SO THOSE ARE THE THINGS THAT WE HAVE TO TAKE PLACE. AND SO WE'RE WORKING WITH THE ARCHITECT TO, TO ENSURE THAT WE'VE GOT A COMPLETE ASSESSMENT OF THOSE FACILITIES. OUR DDC CONTROLS PACKAGE. DDC CONTROLS, BASICALLY IT'S THAT PROJECT THERE THAT IS OUR CONTROLS REPLACEMENT FOR OUR HVAC. SO THAT'S OUR THAT'S WHAT THAT'S HOW WE MANAGE THE UTILIZATION OF OUR FACILITIES. THAT'S HOW WE TURN OUR AIR CONDITIONERS, AIR CONDITIONING AND HEATING ON AND OFF. WE SCHEDULE THAT. AND SO THAT'S WHAT THIS PROJECT IS. THIS IS THE UPDATE FOR THAT. AND YOU CAN SEE THE VARIOUS CAMPUSES WHERE WE'RE AT ON EACH SPECIFIC ONE, THE CAMPUS, THE STATUS OF THE CAMPUS, ALONG WITH THE CONTROLS FIRM THAT IS ACTUALLY DOING THE WORK. SOME ARE LSI, TDI THE WORK THAT'S BEING TAKING PLACE WITH THOSE CAMPUSES. OUR LOCAL AREA NETWORK. WE IMPORT THE PARTS ONE AND TWO ARE COMPLETE, OUR MIDDLE SCHOOLS AND HIGH SCHOOLS. AND PART THREE, WE'VE GOT 36 CAMPUSES ARE COMPLETE, AND WE HAVE ONE SCHOOL REMAINING FOR THE ELEMENTARY, THAT'S THE LOCAL AREA NETWORK FOR THE. THAT IS ACTUALLY A PROPOSITION A. PHASE THREE. WE HAVE ARCHITECT. WE'VE WE HAD AN ARCHITECTURAL KICK OFF MEETING WITH ELEMENTARY NUMBER FOUR. SO WE'RE MOVING FORWARD WITH THE ARCHITECT ON THAT AND OUR ATHLETIC PACKAGE. THAT ONE INVOLVES SOUTH GARLAND, NORTH GARLAND AND LAKEVIEW CENTENNIAL. WE'VE COMPLETED OUR CAMPUS ASSESSMENTS, AND NOW WE'RE COORDINATING WITH SPECIFICALLY EACH CAMPUS DEPARTMENT AND TALKING ABOUT THE SCOPE OF WORK THAT'S BEING DELIVERED FOR EACH [00:15:04] SPECIFIC SITE. SO HAVING A LOT OF COORDINATION MEETINGS BETWEEN THE ARCHITECTURAL FIRM AND THE CAMPUS IN THAT PARTICULAR PROJECT. OUR ELEMENTARY ENHANCEMENTS FOR BACH LUNA, ROACH, SUGAR AND SPRING CREEK. DEPARTMENTAL MEETINGS. WE'RE COORDINATING THOSE. WE'RE CONTINUING TO HAVE THOSE WITH THE CAMPUSES MAKE SURE THAT THEY UNDERSTAND OUR SCOPE OF WORK THAT'S ACTUALLY TAKING PLACE AT EACH AT EACH ONE OF THESE CAMPUSES. OUR MIDDLE SCHOOLS AND ELEMENTARY SCHOOL RENOVATIONS, WHICH IS THE AUSTIN ACADEMY, HOUSTON MIDDLE SCHOOL, OR JACKSON TECHNOLOGY OR ABBOTT ELEMENTARY IN BRADFIELD. WE STILL HAVE ONGOING DEPARTMENTAL MEETINGS WITH THESE CAMPUSES. WORKING WITH THE DEPARTMENTS AND THE CAMPUS. LETTING THEM KNOW WHAT THE ACTUAL SCOPE IS, THAT IT'S TAKING PLACE AT EACH ONE OF THESE CAMPUSES. PHASE THREE, THE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL ENHANCEMENTS FOR CLUB HILL THE CLASSICAL CENTER AT DAVIS AND ETHERIDGE. THOSE CAMPUS ASSESSMENTS WE'VE COMPLETED THOSE ASSESSMENTS, AND WE ARE COORDINATING THE ASSESSMENT WALKS FOR DAVIS AND ETHERIDGE AT THIS TIME. DESIGN SCHEDULES ARE BEING DEVELOPED FOR THAT CAMPUS FOR THAT SPECIFIC PROJECT. THE NEW TECHNOLOGY CENTER, OR NOC, WE'VE HAD A SCOPE TO BUDGET THAT HAS BEEN COMPLETED, AND WE'RE MOVING FORWARD WITH SCHEMATIC DESIGN. WE PLAN TO BRING THAT SCHEMATIC DESIGN PRESENTATION BACK TO THE BOARD HERE. PRETTY SOON WE'LL BE ABLE TO PRESENT TO YOU WHERE THAT TECHNOLOGY CENTER IS LOCATED, AND GIVE YOU AN UPDATE ON SCHEMATIC DESIGN OF THAT PROJECT. PLAN TO BRING BACK TO YOU. AND OUR PROP C, THE STUDENT AND STAFF CAMPUS REPLACEMENTS. YOU CAN SEE THERE WE HAVE DEPLOYMENT PHASE FOR THAT ONE AND THE CHROME REFRESH PROJECT. THAT PROCUREMENT WAS BEGINNING IN DECEMBER, AND WE PLAN ON DEPLOYING THOSE NEW CHROMEBOOKS IN MAY THROUGH AUGUST OF THIS YEAR. AND OUR GRCCTC IMAC LAB IS COMPLETE FOR THE PROP C. AND THIS IS A FINANCIAL SUMMARY. THIS IS OUR PROJECT BUDGETS THAT YOU SEE THERE FOR ALL OF OUR CAMPUSES, ALONG WITH OUR ACTUAL COST. THE ITEMS THAT HAVE BEEN ENCUMBERED, THE DOLLARS THAT HAVE BEEN ENCUMBERED, AND OUR REMAINING BUDGETS, AS YOU SEE THERE, THIS IS EACH ONE OF THESE PROJECTS. AGAIN, WITH THAT, I'LL TAKE ANY QUESTIONS THAT THE BOARD MAY HAVE. THANK YOU, MR. FERNANDEZ. MR. GLICK. THANK YOU, SIR. COULD WE GO BACK TO PAGE 20, PLEASE, ON OUR BOOKLET? IT'S PROJECT SUMMARY. DOOR HARDWARE KEYING. YES, SIR. YOUR DESCRIPTION TODAY WAS DIFFERENT THAN I'VE EVER HEARD IT. IN ALL OF OUR DISCUSSIONS, YOU REFERENCED BACK TO THE 2014 BOND, WHICH I WAS INVOLVED WITH, VERY HEAVILY INVOLVED WITH, WHERE WE REPLACED ALMOST, I THOUGHT ALL OF OUR DOOR HARDWARE BECAUSE MAINLY BECAUSE THE TEACHERS HAD TO GO OUT IN THE HALL AND CHANGE THE LOCKS SO WE COULD CHANGE THE DOOR HARDWARE AND THEY COULD CHANGE IT FROM INSIDE. WHAT I THOUGHT I HAD UNDERSTOOD ABOUT THIS PROJECT WAS WITH THE KEYING. IT WAS TO PREVENT WHAT HAPPENED IN UVALDE, WHERE THERE WERE SEVERAL SETS OF MASTER KEYS, AND NO ONE COULD FIND THE ACTUAL KEY FOR THE SPECIFIC CLASSROOM OR CLASSROOM DOORS. AND I THOUGHT WE WERE GOING TO DO KEYING EVERYWHERE. I'M NOT SURE ABOUT THE DOOR HARDWARE, BUT I'M NOT SURE THAT'S WHAT YOU SAID TODAY. SO IT WAS SOMETHING CHANGED OR AM I MISUNDERSTOOD? IF I COULD CLARIFY THE INFORMATION YOU JUST SHARED IS EXACTLY WHAT WE'RE DOING. WHAT WE HAVE IS YOU'RE RIGHT. WE DID A LOT OF WORK IN THE 2014 BOND. WE NOT ONLY DID WE DO DOOR HARDWARE, WE ACTUALLY DID DOORS. SO WE DID DOORS, DOOR FRAME. IN SOME OCCASIONS WE HAD TO REPLACE THE FRAME AND IN VARIOUS. SO WE THERE WERE VARIOUS SCENARIOS THAT WERE TOOK PLACE IN 2014 WHEN THERE WERE SOME DOORS ON THE 2014 BOND THAT WE DID NOT CHANGE BECAUSE THEY WERE NOT AN ADA ISSUE. THEY WERE NOT DID NOT HAVE AN ISSUE AS FAR AS THE ABILITY TO DO LOCKDOWNS. SO THE CORE REMAINED AS THE OLD KEY SET. WHAT THIS IS DOING IS CHANGING THOSE CORES OUT FOR THOSE SPECIFIC DOORS AND PUTTING THE NEW KEY SET THAT WILL THEN ALLOW US TO DO EXACTLY AS YOU'RE INDICATING, HAVING ONE MASTER KEY FOR THAT ENTIRE FACILITY. SO IT IS GOING TO REDUCE TREMENDOUSLY THE NUMBER OF KEYS THAT OUR CAMPUS ADMINISTRATORS AND OUR CAMPUS STAFF HAVE TO CARRY TO BE ABLE TO [00:20:08] MAINTAIN, TO OPEN UP EACH DOOR. SO WE'RE GOING TO HAVE ONE KEY SET, IF YOU WILL. SOME OF OUR FACILITIES TODAY HAVE TWO. SOME HAVE FOUR DIFFERENT KEY SETS THAT WE HAVE TO TRACK. AND SO WE'RE REDUCING THAT TO ONE KEY SET WHICH IS THE MEDECO KEY SET. SO WE ARE DOING THE REKEYING EVERYWHERE. JUST MAYBE SOME OF THE DOORS THAT WE FIXED MANY, MANY YEARS AGO, WHICH I'M AWARE OF, WE'RE NOT REPLACING THOSE. THAT IS CORRECT, SIR. YES. SO IT'S THE CORE, THE ACTUAL KEY THAT ALLOWS YOU TO GET IN AND IN AND THERE ARE SOME INSTANCES WHERE THE DOOR HARDWARE IS NOT ADA ACCESSIBLE. WELL, WE DO HAVE SOME DOORS IN OUR FACILITIES THAT HAVE KNOBS. A LOT OF THOSE ARE STORAGE FACILITIES. A LOT OF THOSE ARE DIFFERENT. THEY'RE NOT CLASSROOM DOORS, BUT THERE ARE SOME DOORS THAT HAVE KNOBS. AND AS YOU KNOW, A KNOB IS NOT ADA COMPLIANT. IT HAS TO BE A LEVER. AND SO THOSE ARE THE DOORS THAT WE'RE FOCUSING ON. SO WE'RE SO IT'S A HARDWARE KEYING PROJECT. SO WE'RE HOPEFULLY AT THE END OF THE DAY WE'RE GOING TO BE CONSISTENT. WE'RE GOING TO BE CONSISTENT ACROSS THE BOARD FOR ALL OF OUR CAMPUSES. THEY'RE ALL GOING TO BE THE SAME. WE'LL HAVE A CONSISTENCY FROM A DOOR HARDWARE PERSPECTIVE. AND WE'LL HAVE A CONSISTENCY FROM A DOOR KEYING PERSPECTIVE, WHICH IS ULTIMATELY WHAT WE'RE TRYING TO DO. SO IT IS A VITAL PIECE FROM A SAFETY STANDPOINT, AND THAT'S WHAT WE'RE WORKING TOWARDS. THANK YOU. THANK YOU SIR. THANK YOU. ANY OTHER QUESTIONS? MR. BEACH? AFTER I READ THROUGH THIS ONLINE TODAY, I WAS LOOKING AT ALL OF THE INFORMATION THAT YOU GAVE US. AND THANK YOU FOR THE UPDATE TODAY, BUT ON THE PROJECT SUMMARY INFORMATION AND I TALKED TO MR. GONZALEZ EARLIER ABOUT IS THERE ANY WAY THAT YOU CAN IF THEY'RE HERE, INTRODUCE YOUR PROJECT MANAGER SO THAT WE KNOW WHO THEY ARE. AND SO I CAN SO I KNOW THEM WHEN I SEE THEM, YOU KNOW, THAT WAY. ARE THEY HERE IN THE AUDIENCE IF THAT'S OKAY TO INTRODUCE THEM I WOULD LIKE THAT YOU TO DO THAT. SURE. ABSOLUTELY. WE CAN DEFINITELY DO THAT. IF THE TEAM WOULD LIKE TO COME UP HERE, I CAN INTRODUCE YOU. TAKE THE TIME TO COME UP AND I DON'T MEAN TO PUT YOU ON THE SPOT, GUYS, BUT I JUST WANT TO KNOW WHO YOU ARE. SO WE HAVE AN EXCELLENT TEAM WORKING FOR THE SCHOOL DISTRICT. THESE ARE SCHOOL DISTRICT EMPLOYEES. WORK FOR THE SCHOOL DISTRICT ON THE BOND PROGRAM. WE HAVE ONE OF OUR PROJECT MANAGERS IS HAD A SCHEDULING CONFLICT. SO, WHO COULD NOT BE HERE THIS AFTERNOON? SHARBEL AKIKI WHO IS OVER OUR HE IS RECENTLY STARTED WITH OUR WITH OUR PROJECT, WITH OUR GROUP, AND HE IS HANDLING QUITE A FEW OF OUR PROJECTS. HE'S OVER THE MULTI-PROGRAM FACILITIES. HE'S OVER THE FREEMEN PROJECT. HE'S OVER THE BASEBALL AND SOFTBALL PROJECTS. AND SO HE'S GOT QUITE A QUITE A BIT ON HIS PLATE, BUT UNFORTUNATELY, HE WAS HAD A SCHEDULING CONFLICT THIS EVENING AND SO HE COULD NOT ATTEND. BUT WITH THAT, I'M GOING TO TAKE THE OPPORTUNITY TO, TO ALLOW EACH ONE OF THE STAFF MEMBERS HAS JUST INTRODUCE THEMSELVES AND TELL YOU WHAT THEY'RE DOING ON THE BOND PROGRAM. PERFECT. WELL, I'LL DO THE INTRODUCTION. HELLO. MEMBERS OF THE BOARD. PRESIDENT OF THE BOARD, DOCTOR LOPEZ. MY NAME IS BRIAN FRANCIS. I'M A SENIOR CONSTRUCTION PROJECT MANAGER, AND I'M WORKING ON APPROXIMATELY $350 MILLION WORTH OF PROJECTS I'M WORKING ON ALL THE ELEMENTARY REPLACEMENTS EXCEPT FOR FREEMAN. ROWLETT, TOLLER, NORTH LAKE AND HICKMAN AND THE FIRE ALARM ACCESS CONTROL AND CAMERAS FOR PHASE TWO. PHASE THREE B BIT PACK SEVEN, WHICH IS THE NETWORK TECHNOLOGY CENTER. FIRE ALARM, ACCESS CONTROL AND CAMERAS FOR PHASE THREE. [00:25:06] OH AND THE NETWORK TECHNOLOGY, NEW TECHNOLOGY BUILDING. HELLO, EVERYONE. I'M STEPHEN WELSH. I WAS AN ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL FOR A LONG TIME AT LAKEVIEW AND ROWLETT. SO MISS BLAKE IS HERE AND SHE CAN ATTEST TO THAT WAS A LOT OF FUN. BUT THIS IS A NEW OPPORTUNITY FOR ME TO LEARN SOMETHING AND BE A PART OF SOMETHING LIKE THIS, AND JUST REALLY APPRECIATE THE OPPORTUNITY THAT JAVIER HAS GIVEN ME AND THAT YOU GUYS HAVE ALLOWED. I'M OVER THE PLAYGROUND PROJECT, THE FENCING PROJECT, THE ROOF PACKAGE, WHICH YOU'LL SEE TONIGHT FROM OUR ARCHITECT. AND I'M ALSO RESPONSIBLE FOR THE SOME OF THE PHASE THREE RENOVATIONS WE'RE DOING AT THE ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS. HI. MEMBERS OF THE BOARD, DOCTOR LOPEZ. I'M RON WARD, I'M THE PROJECT MANAGER. I'M OVERSEEING THE DOORS AND HARDWARE, WATERPROOFING AND CLADDING. THE NEW AG FACILITY AND ALSO THE PHASE THREE, FIVE RENOVATIONS OF ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS. IN THE ACT CENTER, YES. THANK YOU. GOOD AFTERNOON, DOCTOR LOPEZ. PRESIDENT SELDERS MEMBERS OF THE BOARD. I AM THE FIELD OBSERVER SAFETY MANAGER FOR THE BOND. I ASSIST ALL THE PROJECT MANAGERS WITH EVERYTHING THEY NEED ON THEIR PROJECT. I GO OUT AND DO WEEKLY PHOTOS OF ALL THE PROJECTS THAT'S GOING ON THAT'S UNDER CONSTRUCTION. I ALSO MAKE SURE THAT I OBSERVE ALL THE CONTRACTORS THAT ARE OUT WORKING FOR COMPLIANCE, FOR ANY SAFETY REGULATIONS AND ANYTHING ELSE THAT'S REQUIRED, AND ASKED OF ME TO MAKE SURE THIS BOND GOES SMOOTHLY. HELLO, DOCTOR LOPEZ AND MEMBERS OF THE BOARD. I AM THE DATABASE SPECIALIST FOR PROJECT MATES FOR THE BOND PROGRAM. I ESSENTIALLY MAKE SURE THAT ALL OF THE VENDORS AND ALL OF THEIR INFORMATION IS CAPTURED IN PROJECT MATES, THAT WE HAVE OUR INVOICES PAID OUT IN A TIMELY MANNER. WE HOLD TRAININGS FOR ALL THE VENDORS ON HOW TO USE THE SOFTWARE, AND MAKING SURE THAT ALL OF THE INFORMATION FROM THE PROJECTS IS MAINTAINED AND ARCHIVED AND PRESERVED IN CASE WE NEED IT IN THE FUTURE. THANK YOU. I'M SORRY. MY NAME IS JORGE GONZALEZ. JORGE GONZALEZ. NICE TO MEET EVERYONE. OKAY. THANK YOU VERY MUCH. ALL RIGHT. THANK YOU. THANK YOU EVERYONE. WE'LL MOVE TO OUR NEXT ITEM. [IV.B. Receive Presentation Bond 2023 Cooper Elementary, Herfurth Elementary, and Giddens-Steadham Elementary Roof Package Schematic Design – Javier Fernandez] ITEM 4B, RECEIVE THE PRESENTATION OF BOND 2023 COOPER ELEMENTARY, HARTFORD ELEMENTARY AND GIDDENS STEADHAM ELEMENTARY ROOF PACKAGE, SCHEMATIC DESIGN. MR. FERNANDEZ. THANK YOU. BOARD PRESIDENT SELDERS. MEMBERS OF THE BOARD, DOCTOR LOPEZ. WE'RE HERE TONIGHT TO PRESENT TO YOU THE ROOF PACKAGE, WHICH WE CALL PHASE TWO, BID PACK FIVE. AS PART OF OUR BOND PROGRAM THAT INVOLVES COOPER ELEMENTARY, HERFURTH ELEMENTARY, THE AMSTERDAM ELEMENTARY SCHOOL. WE'RE HERE TO PRESENT TO YOU THE SCHEMATIC DESIGN PRESENTATION. FOR THAT. AND WITH THAT WE HAVE INVITED THE PRINCIPAL OF THE FIRM, LBL ARCHITECTS TO COME AND PRESENT TO YOU THE PRESENTATION TONIGHT. WITH THAT, I'LL TURN IT OVER TO TOM MCCARTY, WHO IS THE PRINCIPAL FOR LBL ARCHITECTS. MYSELF SITUATED HERE FOR A SECOND BUT THANK YOU. BOARD PRESIDENT BOARD MEMBERS AND SUPERINTENDENT GREATLY APPRECIATE THE OPPORTUNITY TO AT LEAST TALK TO YOU ABOUT WHAT WE'VE BEEN WORKING ON FOR YOUR SCHOOLS HERE OVER THE LAST COUPLE OF MONTHS AND LOOKING FORWARD TO CONTINUING ON THE THREE SCHOOLS WE'VE BEEN ASKED TO LOOK AT AGAIN HER FIRST STUDENT AT COOPER, ALL THREE HAVE UNIQUE QUALITIES TO THEM. SO IT'S NOT LIKE YOU CAN DO ONE AND THEN JUST REPLICATE IT TO THE OTHER SCHOOL. I'LL RUN THROUGH, KIND OF GIVE YOU A BRIEF OVERVIEW OF WHAT WE INTEND TO HAVE DONE AT THESE SCHOOLS. SOME COST ANALYSIS WITH THEM. AND THEN ANY TIME FOR QUESTIONS, JUST LET ME KNOW. LET'S SEE HERE. OVERVIEW. PRETTY MUCH WHAT WE TALKED ABOUT. AND THE TEAM, YOU KNOW, WE'VE BEEN WORKING WITH THE TEAM THAT YOU'VE JUST SEEN UP HERE WITH FACILITIES. AND THEN ON MY SIDE, IT'S NOT JUST MYSELF. I HAVE A TEAM OF INDIVIDUALS FROM OTHER ARCHITECTS CONSTRUCTION EXPERTS AND ROOFING INDIVIDUALS THAT ALL HELP THIS TO [00:30:03] HAPPEN. WE HAD OUR PROJECT DIRECTIVES. COOPER ELEMENTARY HAD TO DO WITH BUILT UP ROOF REPLACEMENTS PER YOUR STANDARDS AT THE OLDER AREAS, WHICH WERE ACCOMMODATED EXTERIOR ROOFING OR SEALANT AND WATERPROOFING REPLACEMENTS. AND THEN BROKEN AND CRACKED EXTERIOR WALL CLADDING. SO WE'VE LOOKED AT THIS SCHOOL, ALONG WITH THE OTHER TWO FOR THESE ELEMENTS TO IDENTIFY. WHERE CAN WE MAKE THE BUILDINGS MORE OR THE ENVELOPE MORE WATERPROOF? ONE OF THE THINGS THAT'S UNIQUE ABOUT HERE FIRST, THE SECOND ONE THAT'S LISTED DOWN IS IT'S A METAL ROOF. AND WE'RE INTRODUCING THE IDEA OF SOME ADDITIONAL PITCHED METAL ROOFS TO ALLEVIATE SOME PONDING AND OTHER ROOF ISSUES THAT HAVE BEEN SYSTEMIC WITH THAT BUILDING. SCHEMATIC DESIGN FINDINGS EXACTLY OUT AT COOPER ELEMENTARY. THE OLDER ROOFS, WHICH WE ARE SAFE FROM ABOUT 1987, WHICH ARE THAT NEARLY 20 YEAR MARK PLUS REPLACING THOSE AREAS IS WITHIN YOUR BUDGET THAT'S BEEN ESTABLISHED. IT'S ABOUT 200,000 220,000 LESS THAN YOUR BUDGET. AND THESE ARE OF THE OLDER ROOF AREAS HERE FOR ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, THE SCHOOL THAT HAS STANDING SEAM METAL ROOFS FOR PREDOMINANTLY 90% OF THE BUILDING REPLACEMENT OF THAT AND SOME CONSEQUENTIAL WORK THAT'S NEEDED TO MAKE SURE THAT THE METAL ROOFING IS REPLACED PROPERLY IS OVER THE BUDGET OF 492,000. IT IS OVER BY THAT AMOUNT. AND THEN WE ADD THE ENVELOPE AND SEALANTS, AND THEN IT PUSHES THAT TO 538 OVER. THESE ARE ALL BASED ON OUR ESTIMATES. AND THEN TO ALLEVIATE SOME CONTINUOUS PONDING OVER THE KITCHEN AREA. AND LEAKING HAS BEEN INCURRED IN THE BUILDING. THEN PUSHES THAT TO ABOUT 675 OVER THE THIRD SCHOOL, GETTING STEDMAN ELEMENTARY. THE REPLACEMENT OF THE BUILT UP ROOF THERE IS WITHIN THE BUDGET. WE HAD PROJECTED THAT ABOUT 400,000 LESS. SO YOU HAVE UNDER, OVER, UNDER. THESE ESTIMATES ARE ALL PRODUCED WITH US, BUT NOT SOLELY WITH US. WE HAVE COST ESTIMATORS. WE CONSULT WITH GENERAL CONTRACTORS, ROOFING CONSULTANTS AND TRADE INDIVIDUALS. SO WE DO OUR DUE DILIGENCE AND THEN WE PROJECT ON OUT A TIMEFRAME. AND WE WERE USING EIGHT MONTHS IN PROJECTION. AND WE HAD PREPARED ALL THESE NUMBERS LAST MONTH. THESE DIAGRAMS ALTHOUGH SMALL HOPEFULLY YOU CAN READ ON THERE. WE DO OUR DUE DILIGENCE ABOUT GETTING OUT ON THE ROOF, EXISTING CONDITIONS, TAKING LOTS OF PHOTOGRAPHS. WE DO FLYOVERS WITH DRONES. WE SWITCH TO INFRARED SCANNING. SO WE HAVE A REALLY GOOD UNDERSTANDING OF YOUR ROOF CONDITIONS. AND THEN WE PRESENT THOSE TO THE FACILITIES DEPARTMENTS. WORK THROUGH ANY SPECIFIC DETAILS TO MAKE SURE THAT WE DON'T LEAVE ANYTHING. THERE'S NO GAPS IN THE WORK. THE GREEN AREAS ON HERE, WHAT WE PROPOSE ON COOPER STREET TO BE REPLACED OR COOPER ELEMENTARY SCHOOL FOR REPLACEMENT. IT'S ABOUT 80% OF THE ROOF. EXISTING ROOF. THIS DIAGRAM THIS DRAWING HELPS TO UNDERSTAND A LITTLE BIT QUICKER. THE EXTENSIVE AMOUNT OF THE ROOF AREA ON COOPER THAT'S TO BE REPLACED. IN TERMS OF EXTERIOR ENVELOPE AND SEALANTS. THIS LITTLE DRAWING WHICH HELPS TO CONVEY, AGAIN, WHAT ARE WE TALKING ABOUT? ALL THE PERIMETER AROUND THE DOORS, PERIMETER AROUND WINDOWS, LOUVERS, OTHER OPENINGS, AND THEN MASONRY TO MASONRY JOINTS. THESE ARE ALL THINGS THAT MR. FERNANDEZ HAD TALKED ABOUT OR IN YOUR OTHER YOUR OTHER PROJECTS. SO THEY COINCIDE TOGETHER WITH THE ENHANCEMENTS THAT YOU'RE MAKING AT THE OTHER SCHOOLS. AT COOPER, THERE WAS ADDITIONAL DOCUMENTATION ABOUT WALL AND SOFFIT CRACKING CLADDING, WALL CRACKING. AND WE'VE IDENTIFIED THOSE AREAS AND HAVE THAT INCLUDED WITH THE PROJECT. BACK TO THE NUMBERS. THIS IS A LITTLE BIT MORE BROKEN OUT FOR YOU. I GAVE YOU THAT WHEN I INTRODUCED COOPER AT THE ONSET, I SAID IT WAS UNDER THE BUDGET. AND HERE'S HOW IT KIND OF COMES OUT. MORE LIKE 284 IS WHAT WE'RE THINKING ABOUT. 13,000 UNDERNEATH. YOUR ROOF BUDGET. LET'S SEE HER FIRST. [00:35:06] WE'VE GOT AGAIN, DIAGRAMS THAT WE'VE SHARED WITH THE FACILITIES DEPARTMENT TO GO THROUGH. HOW CAN WE IMPROVE THIS FACILITY? MAYBE A LITTLE CHALLENGING ON THIS PARTICULAR DRAWING TO NOTE, BUT YOU CAN SEE THE LITTLE YELLOW AREA, WHICH IS A FLAT ROOF AREA OVER THE KITCHEN, WHICH HAS HISTORICALLY HAD LEAKS. AND JUST ABOVE THAT, THERE'S A LITTLE PITCHED ROOF THAT WE ARE PLANNING TO ADD TO THIS SCHOOL TO DIVERT AN EXTENSIVE AMOUNT OF WATER THAT'S GETTING ON THAT ROOF SYSTEM, WHICH IS WHAT WE'VE DETERMINED IS THE PROBLEM TOO MUCH WATER ON A FLAT SURFACE. SO IF WE JUST DIVERT IT OFF OF THERE, IT'S THE FIRST STEP OF MAKING THE IMPROVEMENTS. I WOULD LIKE TO CLARIFY, THE COST TO REPLACE THE YELLOW AREA ARE NOT INCLUDED IN OUR BUDGETS RIGHT NOW. I MEAN, WE'VE BUDGETED IT, BUT IT'S NOT WITHIN THE PROJECT SCOPE. AGAIN, GETTING THE PERIMETER, GETTING ALL OF THE SEALANTS AROUND THE WINDOWS AND SUCH. HERE'S JUST ANOTHER LITTLE DRAWING THAT INDICATES OUR PLAN TO DIVERT MUCH OF THE WATER THAT'S GETTING ONTO THAT FLAT ROOF AT THE KITCHEN. AND THEN MORE WITH THE NUMBERS IN TERMS OF BY ADDING ALL THESE ELEMENTS TOGETHER, IT'S THE 675,000 OVER ABOUT 38%. AND FINAL SCHOOL GETTING INTO STEM. AND THIS IS A COMBINATION OF FLAT ROOF AND THEN COMPOSITION SHINGLES. WE ARE EVALUATING THE FLAT ROOF AREAS AGAIN WITH ALL OF OUR INFORMATION THAT WE'VE SHARED WITH FACILITIES, ALL OF THE SEALANTS AROUND THE PERIMETER OF THE BUILDING, THE BUILDING ENVELOPE, AND IN REPLACING ALL OF THE FLAT ROOF AREAS AND TAKING CARE OF THE SEALANTS, IT BECOMES 412 UNDER. SO WHEN YOU TALLY ALL OF THOSE UP TOGETHER, OR ESSENTIALLY JUST SLIGHTLY UNDER THE BUDGET THAT'S BEEN ESTABLISHED FOR THE PROJECT. THERE'S ALWAYS MORE NEED THAN DOLLARS, BUT WE ALWAYS WORK TOWARDS YOUR BUDGET AND PROVIDE THE INFORMATION AND LET YOU MAKE THE DECISIONS. AND WE'VE WORKED CLOSELY WITH FACILITIES ON THAT. HERE'S OUR SCHEDULE. WE'RE WORKING VERY DILIGENTLY SO THAT WE CAN HAVE PROJECTS AVAILABLE FOR BIDDING AND HOPEFULLY HAVE WORK BEGINNING DURING THE SUMMERTIME. ANY QUESTIONS? YES, MR. JOHNSON. YEAH. THANK YOU, SIR . I APPRECIATE THE PRESENTATION. THIS IS PROBABLY GOING TO BE A LITTLE BIT MORE DIRECTED AT JAVIER AND PAUL NECESSARILY, BECAUSE IT LOOKS LIKE THE BIG EXPENSE THAT WE HAVE, AT LEAST WHAT'S GOING OVER IS RELATED TO STANDING SEAM METAL ROOFS AT HEREFORD ELEMENTARY. I CAN'T HELP BUT NOTICE THAT THE ELEMENTARY IS THE EXACT SAME FLOOR PLAN AS TWO OF OUR OTHER ELEMENTARIES IN SEWELL AND ABBOTT. DO WE HAVE SIMILAR PROBLEMS AT SEWELL AND ABBOTT THAT WE HAVE AT HEREFORD? AT THIS TIME. FROM MY RECOLLECTION, I DO NOT BELIEVE WE HAVE THE SAME ISSUE AT THOSE TWO FACILITIES. BUT LET ME CIRCLE BACK. LET ME CONFIRM THAT WITH THE ASSESSMENT THAT WE'VE DONE. I DON'T BELIEVE WE DO. I MEAN, WE'RE TALKING SEVERAL HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS AND GOING OVER BUDGET WITH RESPECT TO THIS ROOF AND EVEN MORE IF WE ALTER THE DESIGN FROM THE FLAT ROOF OVER THE KITCHEN. BUT I'M ASSUMING IT'S THE SAME DESIGN AT THOSE OTHER TWO SCHOOLS, TOO. SO I'M NOT EXACTLY CERTAIN WHY THE SAME DESIGN WOULD CAUSE LEAKS AT ONE, BUT NOT THE OTHER TWO. AND SO THAT'S KIND OF MY CONCERN WITH RESPECT TO IT IS BECAUSE WE'VE GOT THIS ONE AS PART OF THIS BOND RELATED ISSUE, BUT WE HAVE TWO OTHER SCHOOLS THAT ARE FUNDAMENTALLY THE SAME THAT WE'RE NOT SAYING WE NEED TO DO ANYTHING WITH RESPECT TO. WAS HER FIRST ROOF DAMAGED IN THE TORNADO OF 2015? SO AGAIN, I GUESS I'M AT A LOSS AS TO WHY IT'S IN SUCH BAD SHAPE AND THE AND THE OTHER TWO AREN'T. NO, SIR. THERE WAS NO DAMAGE. THIS PARTICULAR CAMPUS FOR THE LAST, PROBABLY FOR THE LAST 5 TO 6 YEARS, STARTED EXPERIENCING A LOT OF ISSUES IN THE CAFETERIA LEAKAGE IN THE CAFETERIA. AND FROM WHAT THE ARCHITECT SHARED WITH ME. AND I'D LIKE YOU TO SHARE A LITTLE BIT ABOUT THE WAY THE DESIGN OF THE WINDOWS AND WHY WE'RE EXPERIENCING THOSE LEAKS. THE ONLY THING I CAN SAY IS THAT ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT THINGS ABOUT A ROOF IS THE PERSON PUTTING THE ROOF ON, AND ACTUALLY THE APPLICATION AND THE DESIGN, FOR SOME REASON, THESE TWO OTHER CAMPUSES AND WE'LL GO BACK AND CHECK WORK ORDERS, BUT WE'RE NOT EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUES THAT WE'RE HAVING AT THIS PARTICULAR CAMPUS, BECAUSE IF YOU STAND ON THE ON THE CURB AND YOU LOOK AT THESE THREE CAMPUSES, IF YOU CLOSE, IF YOU DON'T LOOK AT THE AT THE NAME, YOU COULDN'T TELL A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE THREE. [00:40:03] THEY ARE IDENTICAL. SAME FLOOR PLAN. YEAH. YEAH. YES. IN OUR TO HELP IN CLARIFYING THIS PARTICULAR SCHOOL AND I DON'T KNOW THE OTHER SCHOOLS IN OUR SITUATION, BUT WE WENT THROUGH NUMEROUS WORK ORDERS THAT HAD BEEN PLACED ON THIS SCHOOL FOR YEARS AND ACTUALLY WALKED UP ON THE ROOF. THERE ARE SECTIONS OF THE STANDING SEAM METAL ROOF THAT HAVE SLID AND WERE NOT INSTALLED PROPERLY. WE'RE NOT FLASHED PROPERLY. IN ESSENCE, HOW THEY INTERTWINE AT THE WINDOWS. THERE'S A LONG, CLEAR STORY WINDOW THAT RUNS NEARLY THE LENGTH OF THE SCHOOL, WHERE THERE HAS BEEN MULTIPLE REPEATED PATCHING ATTEMPTS THAT HAVE BEEN MADE. FACILITIES. YOU CAN SEE THROUGH THE WORK ORDER HISTORY, AND NOT JUST WITHIN THE FACILITIES, USING OUTSIDE SOURCES ON HOW TO REPAIR WHAT'S THERE. AND I WOULD JUST COME DOWN AND SAY IT WAS A VERY POOR INSTALLATION AT THE TIME. YEAH, I MEAN THAT THAT WOULD SEEM THAT WOULD TEND TO TRACK PRETTY WELL BECAUSE LIKE I SAID, FROM A DESIGN PERSPECTIVE, IT SHOULDN'T MAKE ANY MAKE ANY DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE THREE, BUT I WOULD ASSUME THAT MAYBE THE SAME CONTRACTOR DIDN'T DO ALL THREE ROOFS. IT REALLY IS THE PERSON THAT'S PUTTING IN AND CHECKING AND AFTERWARDS. AND IS EVERYTHING DONE PROPERLY AT THAT POINT IN TIME. AND THEN THIS IS NOT A TYPE OF ROOF SYSTEM WHERE YOU CAN, BECAUSE OF THE LONG PANELS OF THE METAL PANELS IN TERMS OF JUST PATCH AND REPAIR, LIKE YOU MAY ON OTHER ROOF SYSTEMS, MODIFIED BITUMEN, GRAVEL OR SUCH. AND SO FOR YOUR LONG TERM AND WARRANTY ABILITIES AND GOING FUTURE, YOU'RE HAVING TO BUY AN EXTENSIVE AMOUNT OF METAL ROOFING PANELS. THANK YOU. THANK YOU. MR. BEACH. YOU JUST MENTIONED ONE OF THE QUESTIONS I WAS GOING TO ASK ABOUT WARRANTY ON THESE PARTICULAR ROOFS IS WHAT IS THE WARRANTY ON THE ROOFS THAT YOU'RE LOOKING AT HERE? THE TYPICAL ROOFS ARE 20 YEARS. EACH OF THESE WERE LOOKED LIKE THEY WERE OUT OF WARRANTY. OKAY. THE OTHER QUESTION I HAVE IS ALL OF THESE SCHOOLS, THE ROOFTOPS, THE AIR CONDITIONERS ARE ON THE TOP. WHAT KIND OF SEALANT WILL YOU BE ABLE TO DO ON TOP OF A METAL ROOF? TO SEAL THAT FOR LACK OF LEAKAGE? ON HERE FIRST THERE WERE VERY LITTLE PENETRATIONS ACTUALLY, IN THE ROOF. THERE ARE SOME EXHAUST FANS AND SOME PLUMBING VENTS. THE RTUS ACTUALLY SIT ON THE FLAT ROOF AREA, WHICH IS OVER THE KITCHEN AND OVER THE GYM. SO THEREFORE THAT TYPE OF SEALANT IS NOT NECESSARILY NEEDED AT THAT POINT. OVERLAPPING CONDITIONS AND FLASHING AT THOSE PENETRATIONS THAT ARE IN THE METAL ROOFING SYSTEM ARE KEY. NOT JUST ONE, BUT IT'S LIKE MULTIPLE TWO THREE WITH AN EXPANSION CAPABILITY IN THERE. SO OKAY, THANK YOU. SO A LITTLE BIT ABOUT HEREFORD. THAT'S A CHILLED WATER SYSTEM THAT DOESN'T HAVE TO USE. SO DIDN'T HAVE A LOT OF REUSE ON TOP OF THE BUILDING. BUT I WANTED TO GO AHEAD AND CIRCLE BACK TO TRUSTEE JOHNSON'S COMMENT. I WANT TO LET YOU KNOW THAT PART OF WHAT WE'RE DOING IS PART OF THIS BOND PROGRAM IS WE NOT ONLY DO WE HIRE AN ARCHITECTURAL FIRM TO COME OUT AND DESIGN A NEW REPLACEMENT ROOF FOR US WE ALSO HAVE WE ALSO ENGAGE WITH A THIRD PARTY ROOF CONSULTANT THAT LOOKS AT OUR DESIGN WITH THE DESIGN TEAM DOES AND THEN ALSO DOES SITE OBSERVATIONS FOR THE DISTRICT. THAT IS PART OF THIS PROCESS THAT WE'RE UTILIZING. ANYTIME WE TOUCH A ROOF, WE'RE GOING TO DO THAT FOR THE ENTIRE BOND PROGRAM. SO WE'LL HAVE A THIRD PARTY THAT IS OUT THERE DOING ASSESSMENTS FOR THE DISTRICT FOR THE ON BEHALF OF THE DISTRICT AS WELL. ANY OTHER QUESTIONS? I HAVE ONE QUESTION. YOU MENTIONED THAT THE ROOF OVER THE KITCHEN AREA IS NOT GOING TO BE REBUILT, AND I'M IMAGINING THAT THE OVERBUILD IS GOING TO BE DIVERTING THE WATER AWAY. THAT'S CORRECT. YOU TALKED ABOUT THE INTEGRITY OF THE ROOF BEING DEPENDENT ON THE INSTALLER. HOW CONFIDENT ARE WE THAT THE OVERBUILD ONCE IT'S IN PLACE, ANY WATER THAT GETS ON THE ROOF OVER THE KITCHEN IS GOING TO PREVENT LEAKS. INTO THAT AREA. I CAN'T SAY IT WILL PREVENT LEAKS BECAUSE THE ROOF AREA IS SATURATED AND HAS OTHER ISSUES, QUITE FRANKLY, BUT IT'LL TAKE 99% OF THE WATER THAT'S GETTING ON THE ROOF FROM THE METAL ROOF AWAY. SO THEREFORE IT'S GOING TO ONLY HAVE TO HANDLE THE ROOF WATER THAT'S FALLEN DIRECTLY ON THE FLAT AREA, WHICH REAL QUICKLY IS PROBABLY ABOUT ONLY 20%. IT'S GOING TO REDUCE THE AMOUNT OF WATER GETTING ON THE ROOF BY ABOUT 80%. SO ALL OF A SUDDEN NOW YOU HAVE LESS WATER ON THERE. THE ROOF DRAINS SHOULD HANDLE THIS. THE ROOF DRAINS ARE PROPERLY SIZED FOR THE FLAT ROOF AREA. OKAY. NOT FOR A COMBINATION OF THE FLAT ROOF AND ROOF AND ALL OF THE SLOPING METAL ROOF. [00:45:02] THAT'S WHAT THE BIGGEST THING IS. JUST TOO MUCH WATER ON THERE. SO OUR HOPE IS THAT THERE'S NO LEAKS. THERE MAY STILL BE SOME RESIDUAL EFFECTS THAT OCCUR. IF THERE ARE, THAT WOULD BE MUCH EASIER TO IDENTIFY AND FIX AND REPAIR AND THEN EVEN PLAN A REPLACEMENT ON THAT IN A FUTURE PROJECT. GOT IT. RIGHT NOW, IT'S VERY CHALLENGING TO FIND OUT EXACTLY WHERE THE PROBLEM IS. RIGHT. THANK YOU. ANY OTHER QUESTIONS, MISS STANLEY? YOU HAD SAID THAT YOU'D ALREADY FIGURED IN IF WE WERE TO REPLACE THOSE FLAT ROOFS IN THE IN THE CAFETERIA. WHAT THE COST WAS. BUT IT HASN'T BEEN MENTIONED. OH, THE COST ON THAT PART. SO, LIKE, IF WE HAD A WINDFALL AND WE WANTED TO DO THIS, WHAT WOULD IT BE? I THINK I MAY HAVE THAT IN MY NOTES HERE. AND THEN I ACTUALLY HAVE ANOTHER QUESTION I COULD ASK WHILE HE'S LOOKING ON THAT. SO ONE OF THE CHALLENGES WHEN IT RAINS AND THE LEAKAGE HAPPENS IS THAT IT TENDS TO SET OFF THE FIRE ALARM BECAUSE THE CONTROL PANELS OR THE CONTROL PANELS IN THIS AREA OF THE CAFETERIA IS THAT WAY, AND THE WATER IS JUST COMING IN. IF YOU COULD JUST KIND OF EXPLAIN THAT TO ME, MAKE SURE THAT THAT'S I'M HAVING JUST TROUBLE MAKING SURE I'M CLOSING MY LOOP. BEING A FORMER PARENT OF MY CHILD, STANDING IN THE RAIN DURING THE FIRE DRILLS. I WOULD SAY 100% OF OUR FIRE ALARM PANELS ARE LOCATED IN THE MAIN OFFICE. IF YOU HAVE A FIRE ALARM DEVICE, SUCH AS A HORN STROBE, THAT MAY BE AN AREA OF LEAKING ITS ELECTRONIC DEVICE, AND IF WATER GETS TO IT, IT MAY SHORT A CIRCUIT OR THE WIRE TO WHERE WE'D HAVE TO GO IN AND MAKE A REPAIR. SO IS HEARING WHAT I JUST SAID. IS THAT KIND OF NEW THAT YOU GUYS DIDN'T REALIZE THAT OR? NO. I MEAN ANYWHERE THAT YOU HAVE A ELECTRONIC DEVICE, LIKE, EVEN HERE, IF THIS SPRINKLER HEAD STARTS TO LEAK OR WHATEVER, AND IT AND IT GETS IN ONE OF THESE ELECTRONIC DEVICES, IT MAY SHORT THE DEVICE. BUT I MEAN, LIKE WITH, WITH OUR PLAN GOING FORWARD, DO WE FEEL LIKE THAT CHALLENGE HAS BEEN ADDRESSED? BECAUSE I DIDN'T I DIDN'T HEAR IT. SO I JUST WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT WE'RE GOING TO DO ALL THIS WORK AND WE'RE STILL GOING TO HAVE THIS, HOPEFULLY THIS LEAK HAS BEEN ADDRESSED AND IT'S BEEN AN ONGOING ISSUE. YOU'RE ABSOLUTELY CORRECT. IT'S BEEN AN ONGOING ISSUE. I'VE ACTUALLY GONE OUT THERE AND PHYSICALLY SEEN THE WATER IN THE KITCHEN. IT ACTUALLY IS COMES RIGHT OVER THE DISHWASHER, RIGHT WHERE THE DISHES ARE AT. AND SO WE DO HAVE AND IT'S PRETTY SUBSTANTIAL DURING THE RAIN. AND UNFORTUNATELY, THIS HAS BEEN OCCURRING FOR SEVERAL YEARS NOW. AND SO ONE, WE'RE GRATEFUL FOR THE FOR THE COMMUNITY TO PASS THIS BOND THAT AFFORDS US THE OPPORTUNITY TO REPAIR THIS ROOF. WE REALLY BELIEVE THAT TAKING CARE OF THE METAL ROOF, AS IDENTIFIED IN THE FACILITY CONDITION ASSESSMENT, IS GOING TO ALLEVIATE THIS PROBLEM THAT WE HAVE AT THIS CAMPUS. SO, WE DON'T KNOW. I THINK THAT'S IT. I MEAN, I THINK WE DO KNOW THAT THE NEW. WELL, YOU SAID HE SAID EARLIER THAT, YOU KNOW, 80% OF THE WATER THAT HAD BEEN GETTING ON THE FLAT ROOF WAS GOING TO NOW BE DIVERTED. AND WE JUST HOPE THAT THE DRAINS THAT ARE ON THE FLAT ROOF NOW WILL TAKE CARE OF IT. BUT WE DON'T KNOW. NO, SO WHERE THE WATER IS ACTUALLY COMING FROM IS IF YOU GO BACK AND LOOK AT THAT BUILDING AND BECAUSE I'VE WALKED THAT ROOF, I'VE BEEN ON THAT ROOF. THESE METAL PANELS ARE EXTREMELY LONG. SO THEY'RE CUSTOMIZED PANELS THAT WERE BUILT FOR THAT SPECIFIC BUILDING. THEY HAVE SLID OVER TIME, SO THEY'VE SLID. SO WHAT WE'RE WHAT WE'RE DOING IS THE WATER IS ACTUALLY THE WATER IS ACTUALLY PENETRATING THE ROOF MUCH HIGHER THAN WHERE THE REPAIRS ARE BEING DONE, WHERE WHAT WE HAVE DONE OVER TIME, WE'VE GONE AND WE CAN TAKE YOU A PICTURE AND SHOW YOU. BUT THERE IS SEALANT, WHAT WE WOULD CALL POOKIE ALL OVER THAT SEAM ON BETWEEN THE METAL ROOF AND THE FLAT ROOF, WHICH IS MOD BID ROOF. IT HAS JUST BEEN INUNDATED WITH SEALANT, BUT THAT IS NOT WHERE THE WATER IS ACTUALLY PENETRATING THE BUILDING. IF YOU TAKE THE CEILING TILES AND YOU LOOK AT AND YOU GO INSIDE THE BUILDING AND YOU LOOK FROM THE INSIDE, YOU'LL SEE THAT THE METAL, THE METAL PANELS HAVE SLID. [00:50:01] AND SO THE WATER IS ACTUALLY ENTERING THE BUILDING, A MUCH HIGHER PLACE IN THE ROOF, AND IT'S RUNNING IN BETWEEN THE METAL PANEL INTO THE ISO BOARD AND THEN RUNNING INTO THAT AREA. THAT'S WHERE THE WATER IS COMING FROM. SO BY TAKING THAT METAL PANEL ROOF OFF AND REPLACING THAT, THAT IS GOING TO ALLEVIATE THAT WATER THAT WE'RE SEEING COMING INTO THE BUILDING. I THINK THAT'S WHAT'S WHAT THE OBVIOUS POINT IS YOU GOT TO, AS I ALWAYS SAY, YOU GOT TO PUT YOUR EYES ON IT. AND SO I HAVE PUT MY EYES ON IT. I'VE WALKED THAT ROOF, I'VE GOTTEN UP THERE, I'VE LOOKED AT THE METAL PANEL ROOF, I'VE LOOKED AT THE FLAT ROOF. AND YOU CAN SEE FROM THE INSIDE WHERE THAT WATER IS COMING FROM. SO THE CONDITION ASSESSMENT CLEARLY INDICATES THAT THE ROOFING PANELS NEED TO BE REPLACED. AND THAT'S WHAT THE SCOPE OF WORK IS TAKING CARE OF FOR US. SO I FEEL VERY CONFIDENT THAT WHEN THE WORK IS DONE HERE THAT WE'RE GOING TO SEE A MUCH IMPROVED BUILDING. I WOULD THINK THAT THE WATER IS ACTUALLY GOING TO TAKE CARE OF ITSELF. WE ARE GOING TO REPLACE THE WE WILL NOT BE HAVING LEAKS AT THAT BUILDING. AND SO GOING BACK TO WHAT MR. MCCARTHY SAID ON THE OTHER TWO BUILDINGS, AND THANK YOU, MR. JOHNSON, FOR BRINGING THAT UP. AS FAR AS THE OTHER TWO BUILDINGS WE WILL GO BACK AND INVESTIGATE THE NUMBER OF WORK ORDERS THAT WE RECEIVED THERE, BUT WE DO NOT RECALL HAVING THE NUMBER OF WORK ORDERS OR THE ISSUES ON THOSE TWO FACILITIES THAT WE ARE SEEING AT HERFURTH. AND SO WE BELIEVE THAT IT WAS A INSTALLATION DEFICIENCY THAT HAS CAUSED US TO, TO, TO HAVE THE ISSUE THAT WE'RE HAVING NOW. KEEP IN MIND THAT THAT IS A VERY OLD ROOF. IT'S NOT LIKE THE INSULATION IS FIVE YEARS AGO OR FOUR YEARS AGO. THIS IS AN OLDER ROOF. SO THE INSTALLATION WAS DONE MANY, MANY YEARS AGO SUCH THAT IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. SO AND THESE METAL PANELS HAVE SLID. SO WE FEEL VERY CONFIDENT THAT DOING THE WORK THAT WE'RE DOING NOW IS GOING TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE THAT WE'RE HAVING AT HARTFORD. OKAY. THANK YOU. OH, YEAH. I WAS ABLE TO FIND MY 119,000. MR. GLICK. THANK YOU, SIR. SO AS FAR AS I COULD DETERMINE, THESE ARE THE ONLY. I GUESS THIS IS MORE FOR EITHER PAUL OR JAVIER. THESE ARE THE ONLY ROOFS THAT ARE IN OUR TOTAL BID PACKAGE. WOULD THAT BE OKAY? YES, SIR. THAT IS CORRECT. YES, SIR. AND GENERALLY WHEN WE DO ROOFING, WE CAN DO USE $199, RIGHT? AND IN THE PAST WE HAVE. SO AT SOME POINT WE MUST HAVE DETERMINED THAT THESE THREE ROOFS NEEDED SPECIAL TREATMENT FAIRLY QUICKLY AND TO USE BOND FUNDS. COULD YOU TALK ABOUT THAT PLEASE? SO PROBABLY I WANT TO SAY FIVE YEARS AGO WE CONDUCTED A FULL JAVIER WAS PART WE HAD A ROOFING CONSULTANT COME IN AND WE DID A FULL ASSESSMENT OF OUR ROOFING SYSTEMS ACROSS THE DISTRICT. THAT INFORMATION WAS SHARED WHEN WE DID THE FACILITIES CONDITION ASSESSMENT THAT WAS ALSO COMPLETED. WE ARE ADDRESSING ROOFS ON THIS BOND PROGRAM. ARE WE ADDRESSING ALL THE ROOFS THAT NEED TO BE REPLACED? NO, WE'RE ONLY WE'RE ONLY ADDRESSING A FEW. I BELIEVE, IF I'M NOT MISTAKEN, I BELIEVE WE HAD CLOSE TO, I WANT TO SAY CLOSE TO 80, ABOUT $80 MILLION IN ROOF REPLACEMENT. ROOF REPLACEMENTS THAT HAVE OUTLIVED THEIR LIFE CYCLE. ROOFS. AND I'VE JUST SHARED THIS WITH MY CFO. ROOFS, WHEN WE HAVE RAINSTORMS. THE MAINTENANCE DEPARTMENT IS LIKE FIREMEN. THEY'RE RUNNING AROUND ACROSS THIS DISTRICT TRYING TO GET THESE ROOF LEAKS REPAIRED. SO, YES, WE DO HAVE QUITE A FEW MORE ROOFS THAT WE GOT TO REPLACE THAT HAVE OVER 25 YEARS. AND THE REASON I'M BRINGING THIS UP IS THIS HAS BEEN A RECURRING ISSUE. WE SOMETIMES TALK ABOUT ELECTRICAL AND AIR CONDITIONING UNITS AS RECURRING, BUT SO IS ROOFING. AND SO I WOULD EXPECT THAT THESE THREE ROOFS WILL BE TAKEN CARE OF WITH BOND FUNDS. BUT AS WE HAVE ADDITIONAL ROOFS AND WE DID THAT THE ASSESSMENT AND THERE WERE CERTAIN ROOFS THAT WERE GOING TO FALL IN THIS CATEGORY HAVE TO BE DONE RIGHT NOW. AND THERE WAS LIKE A1 AND A2 AND THEN THERE WAS B'S AND C'S. AND AS TIME PROGRESSES, THOSE BEES WILL NOW BECOME A2'S AND MAYBE EVENTUALLY A1'S AND WE WON'T HAVE BOND FUNDS. SO SOMETHING THAT WE NEED TO THINK ABOUT AS WE GO FORWARD. AND THESE ARE NOT CHEAP. THESE THREE ROOFS ARE ABOUT $6 MILLION. [00:55:01] THE THREE ROOFS TOGETHER. AND WE WILL AGAIN START TO SEE ADDITIONAL ROOFS. AS YOU SAID, MANY OF OUR ROOFS ARE OVER 25 YEARS. THE WARRANTY IS OVER. WE KNOW THAT AS WE HEARD. AND THAT WILL BE AN ADDITIONAL PROBLEM IN TERMS OF EXPENSES. SO JUST SOMETHING TO BE AWARE OF. AND THERE ARE ADDITIONAL ROOFS THAT WILL NEED HELP. THANK YOU. ANY OTHER QUESTIONS. THANK YOU GUYS. THANK YOU. BRINGS US TO OUR NEXT ITEM EXECUTIVE SESSION. DOCTOR LOPEZ, ARE THERE ANY EXECUTIVE SESSION ITEMS? NO, SIR. IF THAT IS THE CASE, THEN I WILL ENTERTAIN A MOTION FOR ADJOURNMENT. [VI. Adjournment] SO MOVED. THE MEETING IS ADJOURNED AT 5:25. THANK YOU. TRUSTEES. * This transcript was compiled from uncorrected Closed Captioning.
