EARLY COLLEGE PROGRAMS OFFER SIGNIFICANT BENEFITS TO STUDENTS THAT HELP REDUCE BARRIERS TO HIGHER EDUCATION BY PROVIDING UP TO 60 HOURS OF COLLEGE CREDIT AT NO COST. THESE PROGRAMS ENHANCE BOTH COLLEGE AND CAREER READINESS, WHILE SUPPORTING A SMOOTH AND STRUCTURED TRANSITION FROM HIGH SCHOOL TO COLLEGE. STUDENTS RECEIVE ACADEMIC AND SOCIAL SUPPORT FROM DEDICATED STAFF. THEY ALSO DEVELOP ESSENTIAL SOFT SKILLS THAT ARE CRITICAL FOR LONG TERM SUCCESS IN BOTH ACADEMIC AND PROFESSIONAL SETTINGS. WHILE BOTH ECHS AND P-TECH ALLOW STUDENTS TO EARN COLLEGE CREDITS ALONGSIDE THEIR HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA, THEY DIFFER IN FOCUS AND OUTCOMES. ECHS IS DESIGNED TO HELP STUDENTS EARN AN ASSOCIATE OF ARTS OR ASSOCIATE OF SCIENCE DEGREE AS A FOUNDATION TOWARDS A BACHELOR'S DEGREE. IN CONTRAST, P-TECH COMBINES HIGH SCHOOL, COLLEGE, AND INDUSTRY EXPERIENCE. STUDENTS IN P-TECH CAN EARN A DIPLOMA, INDUSTRY RECOGNIZED CREDENTIALS, AND AN ASSOCIATE OF APPLIED SCIENCE DEGREE. THESE PROGRAMS ARE CLOSELY TIED TO WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT, OFFERING HANDS ON LEARNING THROUGH INDUSTRY PARTNERSHIPS, WITH THE GOAL OF PREPARING STUDENTS FOR DIRECT ENTRY INTO THE WORKFORCE AT A LIVING WAGE UPON GRADUATION. CURRENTLY, OUR PROGRAMS SERVE A TOTAL OF 4207 STUDENTS. THIS INCLUDES 1540 STUDENTS ENROLLED IN P-TECH 2020, ENROLLED IN EARLY COLLEGE HIGH SCHOOL, AND 647 IN THE COLLEGIATE ACADEMIES AT LAKEVIEW AND NIEMAN. OF THE TOTAL STUDENTS IN EARLY COLLEGE, 32% ARE IDENTIFIED AT RISK AND 65% ARE ECONOMICALLY DISADVANTAGED. HIGHLIGHTING THE CRITICAL ROLE THAT THESE PROGRAMS PLAY IN EXPANDING ACCESS AND OPPORTUNITY FOR OUR STUDENTS. THE NEXT FEW SLIDES HIGHLIGHT THE EOC SCORES FROM SPRING OF 2024. THE FIRST BAR IS THE STATE AND THEN REGION TEN, FOLLOWED BY GISD STUDENTS NOT ENROLLED IN A PROGRAM, THEN ALL COLLEGE FOR ALL STUDENTS, THEN COLLEGIATE ACADEMY, THEN ECHS, AND THEN P-TECH. STUDENTS IN EARLY COLLEGE PROGRAMS CONSISTENTLY SCORE HIGHER THAN STUDENTS NOT ENROLLED IN THESE PROGRAMS, AND THIS ONE IS ALGEBRA ONE. THIS IS BIOLOGY. ENGLISH ONE. ENGLISH TWO. US HISTORY. I'M GOING TO TURN IT OVER. KEVIN. GOOD EVENING. CURRENTLY, THERE ARE 358 EARLY COLLEGE STUDENTS THAT ATTEND CLASSES ON DALLAS COLLEGE CAMPUSES. GISD PROVIDES BUS SHUTTLE SERVICE FROM THE HIGH SCHOOL CAMPUS TO THE COLLEGE CAMPUS. STUDENTS ARE ENROLLED IN A VARIETY OF COURSES ACROSS MANY DEGREE PROGRAMS THAT PROVIDE EARLY COLLEGE STUDENTS WITH AN AUTHENTIC COLLEGE EXPERIENCE BEFORE HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATION. WE HAVE 235 STUDENTS ATTENDING CLASSES AT THE RICHLAND CAMPUS, 89 ATTENDING CLASSES AT THE EASTFIELD CAMPUS, AND 34 STUDENTS AT THE NORTH LAKE CONSTRUCTION SERVICES CENTER. DUAL CREDIT COURSE OFFERINGS HAVE EXPANDED AT ALL HIGH SCHOOL CAMPUSES. THIS OFFERING EXPANSION IMPACTS EARLY COLLEGE STUDENTS IN ADDITION TO COMPREHENSIVE DUAL CREDIT STUDENTS, [00:05:01] AND THOSE ARE STUDENTS THAT ARE HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS THAT ARE NOT PARTICIPATING IN EARLY COLLEGE MAGNET PROGRAMS BUT ARE ENROLLING IN DUAL CREDIT COURSES. CURRENTLY, GISD OFFERS OVER 230 COLLEGE COURSES THROUGH DUAL CREDIT PROGRAMING TO GISD FAMILIES. THANK YOU, BOARD OF TRUSTEES, FOR YOUR SUPPORT OF THE DUAL CREDIT CREDENTIALING COURSEWORK PROGRAM. THE PROGRAM REIMBURSES TEACHERS FOR TUITION, FEES AND BOOKS TO OBTAIN CREDENTIALING TO TEACH DUAL CREDIT COURSES IN GISD IS THE GOLD STANDARD OF THE DALLAS COLLEGE PARTNERS WITH 104 DUAL CREDIT CREDENTIALED TEACHERS. DALLAS COLLEGE PROVIDES ISD PARTNERS WITH AN ANNUAL DUAL CREDIT PERFORMANCE REPORT CARD, AND FOR THE 2324 REPORT CARD, 82.1% OF ALL GRADES EARNED WERE A C OR BETTER. WE WON'T HAVE THE 2425 REPORT CARD UNTIL WE COMPLETE THE SUMMER TERM. DUAL CREDIT BY THE NUMBERS SPEAKS TO THE GROWTH AND SUCCESS OF DUAL CREDIT PROGRAMING IN GISD FROM THE 2021 ONE SCHOOL YEAR THROUGH THE 2324 SCHOOL YEAR, THE NUMBER OF UNIQUE STUDENTS ENROLLED ENROLLED IN DUAL CREDIT COURSES HAS INCREASED BY 1631 STUDENTS. THE NUMBER OF COLLEGE CREDIT HOURS EARNED HAS INCREASED BY 23,775 CREDIT HOURS. DEGREES AND CERTIFICATES EARNED HAS INCREASED BY SEVEN. EXCUSE ME BY 337. AND THEN THE BIG SAVINGS TO OUR FAMILIES. $1.6 MILLION IN TUITION SAVINGS AND OVER $750,000 INCREASE IN TEXTBOOK SAVINGS. CHRISTY AND I ARE FORTUNATE TO SHARE THESE SUCCESSES WITH YOU, BUT NONE OF THIS IS POSSIBLE WITHOUT OUR STUDENTS, FAMILIES, TEACHERS, COUNSELORS, MAGNET ADVISORS, ADMINISTRATORS, AND TEAM MEMBERS OF OUR TRANSPORTATION COUNSELING TECHNOLOGY, MAGNET, STUDENT NUTRITION, CTE, FINE ARTS, TEACHING AND LEARNING, AND STUDENT SERVICES DEPARTMENTS. WE HAVE WONDERFUL PEOPLE IN GISD AND WE ARE APPRECIATIVE BEYOND MEASURE FOR THE SUPPORT OF DUAL CREDIT PROGRAMING. IF THEY'RE NOT A STUDENT THAT GRADUATES WITH AN ASSOCIATE DEGREE. AT THIS TIME, I'D LIKE TO ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS YOU MAY HAVE. OR I SHOULD SAY WE WOULD LIKE TO ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS. I CAN'T THINK OF THE ALL 13 OFF THE TOP OF MY HEAD, BUT THOSE KINDS OF THINGS THAT WILL MAKE THEM AT RISK. THEY FAILED SO MANY CORE CLASSES. SOME OTHER THINGS. YES. THERE'S NO REQUIREMENT. THAT'S JUST PART OF OUR THREE ONE MODEL PROVIDING STUDENTS WITH THAT AUTHENTIC COLLEGE EXPERIENCE. BUT WE'RE NOT REQUIRED BY THE STATE TO PROVIDE THAT. OKAY, SO WHAT IS THE THREE ONE MODEL? I'M NOT SURE. THE THREE ONE MODEL IS THEY'RE TAKING DUAL CREDIT COURSES AS EARLY COLLEGE OR P-TECH STUDENTS THEIR FRESHMAN THROUGH JUNIOR YEAR ON THE HIGH SCHOOL CAMPUS. AND THEN THEY HAVE THE OPTION IF THEIR SCHEDULE PERMITS AND THEY'RE INTERESTED BECAUSE WE HAVE STUDENTS THAT ARE INVOLVED IN SO MANY THINGS, SOME OF THEM DON'T HAVE THE CAPACITY IN THEIR SCHEDULE, BUT THOSE THAT WANT TO CAN TAKE THEIR REMAINING SENIOR LEVEL COLLEGE COURSES AT THE COLLEGE CAMPUS. [00:10:06] OKAY. SO EXPLAIN THAT EVEN FURTHER. I MEAN, THEY THEY MAKE A DECISION AT THE END OF THEIR JUNIOR YEAR. I WANT TO TAKE MY CLASSES AT THE COLLEGE. OR WHY WOULD YOU WANT TO JUST TO GET THE COLLEGIATE EXPERIENCE 100%. THEY LOVE THE AUTONOMY AS WELL THAT THEY'RE TREATED AS THEY GO OVER TO THE COLLEGE CAMPUS. THEY'RE JUST THERE WITH THEY DO CHECK IN WITH OUR LIAISONS, BUT OTHER THAN THAT, THEY ARE ENJOYING THE COLLEGE EXPERIENCE AND ALL THE AUTONOMY THAT COMES WITH THAT. AND YOU SAID WE DO REQUIRE WE DO GIVE THEM TRANSPORTATION. WE DO SHUTTLE SERVICE FROM THE HIGH SCHOOL CAMPUS TO THE COLLEGE CAMPUSES. BUT IF THEY HAVE A CAR, CAN THEY DRIVE? THEY CAN DRIVE IF THEY HAVE A VEHICLE. IF I REMEMBER WHEN WE SET THIS UP, WE ALSO HAVE TO HAVE A NURSE ON CAMPUS. SO AT EACH CAMPUS WE HAVE A WELL AT RICHLAND, WE HAVE TWO MAGNET LIAISONS AND THEN A NURSE AT EASTFIELD, WE HAVE ONE MAGNET LIAISON AND A NURSE, AND THAT'S BASED ON STUDENT NUMBERS AT THOSE CAMPUSES. AND THEN AT THE NORTHLAKE FACILITY, WE HAVE A NURSE ONLY AT THAT FACILITY. SO WHEN THEY'RE ON THE COLLEGE CAMPUS AND THEY'RE TAKING A COURSE, THEY WOULD BE WITH REGULAR COLLEGE FRESHMEN AND SOPHOMORES. AND IS THERE ANY WAY YOU WOULD TELL THAT ONE IS ONE IS ONE IS ANOTHER? OTHER THAN MAYBE POTENTIALLY THE AGE DIFFERENCES? AGE DIFFERENCE? YEAH. SO THERE ARE THERE ARE A COLLECTION OF COURSES. IN SOME CASES, THERE ARE A SMALL NUMBER OF WHAT WE CALL RESTRICTED COURSES AT THAT CAMPUS WHERE THEY GO AND THEY'RE WITH OTHER EARLY COLLEGE STUDENTS ONLY IN THAT COURSE. BUT THE VAST MAJORITY OF THE COURSES, THEY'RE MIXED IN WITH THE GENERAL STUDENT POPULATION AT, AT THE DALLAS COLLEGE CAMPUSES. AND I NOTICED THAT LAKEVIEW COLLEGIATE DOES NOT THEY DO NOT. LAKEVIEW COLLEGIATE HAS DOES NOT. AND THEY NEVER HAVE HISTORICALLY THEY TAKE ALL FOUR YEARS. THEY'RE NOT A PART OF THE THREE ONE MODEL. AND IT WAS THERE. WAS THAT AN OPT OUT ON THEIR PART? I KNOW THEY THEY WERE THE FIRST COLLEGIATE WE EVER HAD. DID THEY OPT OUT?
