PRESENTATION ON THE BOND 2023 PROGRAM SUMMARY UPDATE - JAVIER FERNANDEZ.

ALL RIGHT THANK YOU. PRESIDENT BEACH, MEMBERS OF THE BOARD, DR.

LOPEZ, WE'RE HERE TONIGHT TO PRESENT TO YOU OUR JUNE 10TH, 2025 BOND PROGRAM SUMMARY UPDATE FOR BOND 2023.

THIS IS A BOND PROGRAM THAT IS BUILT WITH THREE SEPARATE PROPOSITIONS.

YOU CAN SEE THE THREE SEPARATE PROPOSITIONS THERE.

AND WHAT I WANTED TO SHARE WITH YOU THIS TIME AS WE GO THROUGH, I WANTED TO CIRCLE BACK WITH YOU AND SHARE WITH YOU THE PROGRAM TIMELINE, TALKING ABOUT THE DIFFERENT PHASES. THERE'S ACTUALLY FIVE PHASES OF THIS BOND PROGRAM AND WHERE WE ARE WITH THAT, HOW WE DID THE ARCHITECTURAL SELECTIONS, THE CMAR SELECTIONS, OUR DESIGN AND OUR CONSTRUCTION.

SO THIS IS THE ACTUAL PROGRAM FOR THE ENTIRE BOND, ALL FIVE PHASES.

OUR PH1-BP01 SOFTBALL PROGRAM. WE'VE MADE SOME ADJUSTMENTS TO THE PART 3 TIMELINE THAT YOU SEE AT THE BOTTOM THERE.

WE'VE GOT SOME ABATEMENT THAT HAS TO TAKE PLACE.

WE'VE SECTIONED IT OUT FOR NORTH AND SOUTH. THAT IS AS TO DO WITH THE PART 3.

WE WILL BE PROVIDING YOU A SCHEMATIC DESIGN PRESENTATION FOR THE PART 3 AS PART OF THIS BOARD MEETING.

AND WE WILL ALSO BE BRINGING TO YOU A RECOMMENDATION FOR A DEMOLITION FOR THE FACILITIES THAT ARE IN THE AREA OF PART 3 FOR THAT PROJECT. SO WE'LL BE BRINGING THOSE TWO ITEMS TO YOU AS PART OF THIS BOARD MEETING.

I WANTED TO GIVE YOU AN IDEA OF WHAT SOME OF THE SOFTBALL PROGRAMS DO.

THIS IS WE ARE STILL WORKING ON THIS PROJECT.

WE'RE STILL PUTTING UP SOME SCOREBOARDS. AND THIS IS THE FINAL PRODUCT FOR THE LADY TITANS SOFTBALL.

AND SO YOU'LL SEE, EVERY CAMPUS WILL HAVE A CAMPUS SPECIFIC SCOREBOARD AS PART OF THIS PROGRAM.

AND SO THAT'S WHAT YOU SEE THERE. SO WE'RE REALLY EXCITED FOR THE STUDENTS TO HAVE A NEW FIELD AND NEW SCOREBOARDS, CANOPIES OVER THE SPECTATOR BLEACHERS. AND SO WE'RE THRILLED THAT OUR STUDENTS HAVE THESE TYPES OF FACILITIES THAT THEY CAN TAKE ADVANTAGE OF. SO THIS IS THE NORTH GARLAND SOFTBALL AND NORTH GARLAND BASEBALL.

THESE ARE THE CANOPIES SECTIONS FOR THOSE FACILITIES.

WE ARE STILL WORKING ON COMPLETING THAT WORK.

OUR PLAN IS TO FINISH THE CANOPIES BY LATE THIS MONTH.

AND SO WE'LL BE FINISHING UP WITH ALL OF THAT WORK.

YOU CAN SEE HERE THAT THE LAKEVIEW CENTENNIAL, THE BASEBALL FIELD.

WE'VE GOT THE I-BEAMS UP AND READY TO PUT THE NEW SCOREBOARD UP.

THAT IS A PICTURE OF THE OLD SCOREBOARD THAT IS THERE, THAT IT'S BEING REPLACED.

ON THE FIELDHOUSE AND MULTI-PROGRAM ACTIVITY CENTERS GIVE YOU AN IDEA OF WHERE WE STAND THERE AT THE WILLIAMS STADIUM, WE'RE ABOUT 80% OF THE MOISTURE CONDITIONING, OUR UTILITY INSTALLATION IS 90%.

SOUTH GARLAND, YOU CAN SEE THE MOISTURE CONDITIONING PERCENTAGES THERE AND UTILITY INSTALLATION ALONG WITH NORTH GARLAND.

AT LAKEVIEW CENTENNIAL IT IS THE SITE THAT IS LAGGING.

SO WE ARE DOING SITE PREPARATIONS FOR THAT ONE.

AT NAAMAN FOREST WE'VE COMPLETED THE AUGER CAST PILES THERE AT 100%, AND OUR UTILITIES ARE AT 90% AND OUR GRADE BEAMS ARE AT 65%.

AND YOU CAN SEE THE OTHER PROGRESS THAT WE'RE MAKING AT ROWLETT AND SACHSE THERE.

SO THESE ARE THE PHOTOS, AERIALS THAT WE HAVE FOR THIS IS WILLIAMS STADIUM WHICH IS THE GARLAND HIGH SCHOOL INDOOR FACILITY OR FIELDHOUSE AND MULTI-PROGRAM ACTIVITY CENTERS.

THIS IS THE SOUTH GARLAND FACILITY, THE AERIALS FOR THAT ONE.

THIS IS THE NORTH GARLAND ONE, A LOT OF MUD AND LAKEVIEW CENTENNIAL, AS I SAID, WE'RE GETTING STARTED ON THAT ONE.

THE GOOD NEWS IS THAT ALL OF OUR STEEL HAS ARRIVED AT LAKEVIEW CENTENNIAL.

NAAMAN FOREST HIGH SCHOOL. I'LL CALL YOUR ATTENTION THERE. YOU SEE SOME YELLOWING ON THE PERIMETER.

THAT'S ACTUALLY THE GRADE BEAMS THAT HAVE BEEN INSTALLED. SO YOU CAN SEE THE AUGER CAST PILES ARE DONE AND NOW THE GRADE BEAMS ARE BEING PUT IN. SO WE ARE MOVING STEADFASTLY WITH THAT PROJECT, THAT'S THE ONE THAT'S FURTHEST ALONG FROM ALL THE OTHERS.

THIS IS ROWLETT HIGH SCHOOL. AND SACHSE HIGH SCHOOL.

SO WE'VE GOT QUITE A BIT OF WORK GOING ON THAT PROJECT THERE.

ON FREEMAN ELEMENTARY WANTED TO GIVE YOU AN UPDATE ON WHERE WE STAND FOR PERMITTING AS A RECALL THAT OUR GMP #2 WAS APPROVED IN FEBRUARY OF THIS YEAR. ON OUR SITE PERMITTING, WE HAVE RESPONDED.

YOU CAN SEE THE ITEMS THAT WE'VE DONE THERE. WE SUBMITTED IT IN DECEMBER OF LAST YEAR.

WE HAVE WE RECEIVED OUR THIRD ROUND OF COMMENTS FOR FREEMAN ON 4/22/2025 FROM ENGINEERING AND TRANSPORTATION ON 4/30/2025.

I CAN TELL YOU THAT ON THE THIRD ROUND OF COMMENTS, RESPONDING TO THE THIRD ROUND, WE ACTUALLY RESPONDED TO THE THIRD ROUND OF COMMENTS JUST LATE LAST WEEK FROM THE CIVIL ENGINEER, AND WE'RE FINALIZING THE TIA RESPONSE AS FAR AS THE SITE PERMIT GOES FOR FREEMAN. WE'VE BEEN WORKING WITH THE CITY ON THAT.

I CAN SHARE WITH YOU THE LAST TIME THAT WE SPOKE ABOUT FREEMAN, I DID SPEAK OF A TRAFFIC SIGNAL THAT THE CITY WAS WANTING US TO ADD AS PART OF THEIR TIA.

THEY HAVE BEEN TALKING TO US. AND NOW WE ARE AT A POINT TO WHERE WE THINK THERE'S AN AGREEMENT WITH THE CITY THAT WE WOULD BE LOOKING AT THE TRAFFIC SIGNAL SOMETIME BETWEEN NOW AND 2036, IF THEY WERE NEEDED, THE DISTRICT WOULD PARTICIPATE 50% AND THE CITY WOULD PARTICIPATE 50%.

SO RATHER THAN TO HAVE THE DISTRICT PAY THE ENTIRE SIGNAL.

BUT WE DON'T KNOW IF WE'RE GOING TO NEED A SIGNAL.

SO THAT'S THE UPDATE. SO THINGS ARE KIND OF CHANGING ON THAT PIECE.

SO THAT'S A DIFFERENT INFORMATION THAT I SHARED FROM LAST MONTH.

THIS IS THE THINGS PROGRESS, SO THERE'S SOME GOOD NEWS ON THAT FRONT.

THE BUILDING PERMIT IS READY. IT'S BEEN READY AND SO WE'RE READY TO GO ON THAT PIECE.

ON KIMBERLIN ACADEMY THE RESPONSES FOR THE THIRD ROUND OF COMMENTS FOR THE SITE PERMIT, THOSE ARE STILL PENDING. AND WE'VE GOT A RESPONSE BACK ON THE TIA THAT WE NEED TO ALSO SUBMIT FOR KIMBERLIN.

THE BUILDING IS READY. THE SITE PERMIT FOR THE BUILDING IT IS READY.

AND JUST FOR REVIEW THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES ACTUALLY APPROVED THAT GMP #2 IN MARCH OF THIS YEAR.

LAKEVIEW CENTENNIAL, THE GMP WAS APPROVED ON MAY THE 27TH.

FOR THIS PROJECT IS A NOT TO EXCEED. THE LAKEVIEW SITE PERMITS, THESE ARE TWO CAMPUSES, SO THERE'S A LOT OF WORDING IN THERE.

BUT I WANTED TO KIND OF LET YOU KNOW WHERE WE'RE AT ON THAT TWO SEPARATE, TWO SEPARATE SITES.

I CALL YOUR ATTENTION TO THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE SLIDE BEFORE THE LEFT OR THE RIGHT SIDE.

THE GOOD NEWS IS WHEN WE SUBMITTED FOR LAKEVIEW, NAAMAN FOREST, THERE IS NO SITE PERMIT REQUIRED FOR NAAMAN FOREST, BUT THERE IS A BUILDING PERMIT. SO WE'RE GOING THROUGH THE BUILDING PERMIT PORTION.

WE ACTUALLY DID RECEIVE SOME ENGINEERING COMMENTS THAT ARE PART OF THE CIVIL PIECE AS PART OF THE ENGINEERING.

AND SO WE'RE WORKING TO GET THOSE TURNED BACK AROUND AS A MATTER OF FACT, WE SHOULD BE GETTING THAT INFORMATION BACK TO THE CITY TODAY ON NAAMAN FOREST.

ON LAKEVIEW CENTENNIAL THE SITE PERMITTING, SO WE RECEIVED OUR SECOND ROUND OF COMMENTS ON 5/29/2025.

WE'RE WORKING THROUGH THOSE COMMENTS FOR THE SITE PERMIT FOR LAKEVIEW CENTENNIAL, AND WE ARE PENDING PER THE CITY, THEY WANT THREE ROUNDS OF COMMENTS, SO THEY WILL BE PENDING A ROUND THREE FOR THE SITE PERMIT FOR LAKEVIEW AND LAKEVIEW PERMIT THE BUILDING PERMIT WE RESPONDED TO THE FIRST ROUND OF COMMENTS ON 5/9/25 , AND WE RECEIVED A SECOND ROUND OF COMMENTS ARE STILL PENDING FROM THE CITY FOR LAKEVIEW CENTENNIAL BUILDING. SO WE THINK THAT NAMING IS GOING TO HAPPEN HERE PRETTY QUICK.

AND THEN LAKEVIEW, AS FAR AS WORKING AROUND THE SITE, WE HOPE TO GET LAKEVIEW, THE SITE PERMIT FOR LAKEVIEW HERE WITHIN THE NEXT COUPLE OF WEEKS. SO KEEPING OUR FINGERS CROSSED ON THAT ONE.

ON THE ELEMENTARY PREKINDERGARTEN PLAYGROUNDS, WE APPROVED THAT ONE BACK IN MARCH.

WANTED TO SHARE WITH YOU THAT THE CONSTRUCTION DURATION, IT'S BEEN INCREASED BY FOUR WEEKS.

IT'S DUE TO THE MANUFACTURER'S LEAD TIME. THE MANUFACTURER HAS TOLD US THAT THE VOLUME OF PLAYGROUNDS THAT WE'RE ORDERING IS CAUSING THEM TO EXCEED THE MANUFACTURING OF THE PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT BY FOUR WEEKS.

SO I JUST WANTED TO GIVE YOU AN UPDATE ON THAT. GOOD NEWS IS ALL OF THE PERMITTING FOR ALL THREE CAMPUSES, ALL THREE MUNICIPALITIES IS DONE, SO WE'RE GOOD THERE.

ON THE ELEMENTARY FENCING AS YOU RECALL, LAST MONTH, I ADVISED THE BOARD THAT OUR CONTRACT NEGOTIATIONS WERE UNSUCCESSFUL WITH OUR SOLICITATION THE FIRST TIME. AND SO WE'VE ACTUALLY SOLICITED FOR THAT, WE ACTUALLY HAD A PRE-PROPOSAL MEETING JUST YESTERDAY.

THAT WAS WELL RECEIVED FROM THE CONSTRUCTION COMMUNITY.

SO WE THINK WE'RE GOING TO GET A REALLY GOOD RESPONSE.

SO WE ARE WORKING THROUGH THAT PIECE AND PLAN TO BRING THAT BACK TO YOU IN AUGUST FOR RECOMMENDATION.

OUR FIRE ALARM PORTIONS. YOU CAN SEE THERE THE PHASE 1 WE'VE MADE SOME REALLY GOOD PROGRESS.

WE'RE CLOSING OUT THE BRANDENBURG. WE'RE CLOSING OUT THE ETHERIDGE.

ARMSTRONG IS ABOUT 90% COMPLETE. WE'RE CLOSING OUT PARSONS.

AND WE'RE CLOSING OUT THE AEC. AND WE'RE STILL WORKING WITH THE FIRE DEPARTMENT TO GET A START DATE FOR THE MARVIN PADGETT BUILDING, SO WE CAN START THAT ONE. AND THEN WE'RE CLOSING OUT THE TAX OFFICE.

ON PART TWO WE'VE GOT O'BANION, COUCH, LIBERTY GROVE THOSE DESIGNS ARE COMPLETE.

AND SOUTHGATE, THAT CONSTRUCTION WIRING IS ABOUT 95%.

ON THE CAMERA REFRESH, WE'VE GOT PENDING FINAL DESIGN REVIEWS WITH OUR STAFF FOR THE FIRST PHASE WHERE WE'RE VETTING THAT OUT, MAKING SURE THAT WE CAN GET THAT DONE AND THEN WE'LL PROCEED WITH PHASE 2.

BUT WE'RE WORKING THROUGH THAT. THIS PROJECT STILL REMAINS ON SCHEDULE, AS YOU CAN SEE THE TIMELINE THAT YOU SEE THERE.

OUR ACCESS CONTROL SAME THING. IT'S A PENDING FINAL DESIGN REVIEW FOR THE ACCESS CONTROL PORTION.

AGAIN NOT TO NOT TO CONFUSE ANYONE, BUT THIS ONE HAS ACCESS CONTROL FOR THE EXISTING SYSTEMS. OUR FENCING PROJECTS HAVE ADDITIONAL ACCESS CONTROL, BUT THAT'S TIED TO THE FENCING PROJECT.

SO WHEN THIS PROJECT, THIS PORTION HERE IS TO LOOK AT THE EXISTING FACILITY.

OUR DOOR HARDWARE KEYING, WE'VE MADE SOME REALLY GOOD PROGRESS ON THAT.

OUR HIGH SCHOOLS ARE COMPLETE. OUR MIDDLE SCHOOLS, YOU CAN SEE THE ONES THAT ARE COMPLETE AUSTIN, BUSSEY, HOUSTON, HUDSON, JACKSON, LYLES, SCHRADE AND SELLERS, THEY'RE ALL COMPLETE.

BRANDENBURG, COYLE, O'BANION AND WEBB, THEY'VE ACTUALLY STARTED WORKING ON THOSE.

AT THE TIME WE WROTE THIS THERE WAS A PENDING HARDWARE DELIVERY, WE'VE GOTTEN THAT.

AND SO WE'RE WORKING THROUGH THAT. AND THE ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS THE HARDWARE IS PENDING DELIVERY ON IT.

I WILL SAY THAT OUR CAMPUSES ARE EXCITED. THE FACT THAT THEY DON'T HAVE TO WALK AROUND WITH THIS MASSIVE KEY RING ANYMORE.

AND SO I THINK WHEN YOU STOP AND THINK ABOUT THIS, AND I JUST WANT TO STOP REAL QUICK AND SAY THAT WHILE THIS MAY SOUND LIKE A SMALL PROJECT AND THIS MAY SOUND LIKE, OKAY, SO YOU'RE DOING A HARDWARE KEYING PROJECT AS PART OF A BOND.

THIS IS TREMENDOUS WHEN IT COMES TO LIFE SAFETY AND OUR SAFETY AND SECURITY.

THIS IS WHAT MAKES OUR DISTRICT SEPARATE FROM ALL OTHER DISTRICTS.

YOU'D BE AMAZED HOW MANY DISTRICTS HAVE MULTIPLE KEY SETS OUT THERE WHO CAN'T REALLY MANAGE THAT.

WE'RE LIGHT YEARS AHEAD OF WHERE OTHER DISTRICTS ARE WITH OUR ABILITY TO GET TO ONE SYSTEM.

AND SO WE'RE COORDINATING, A LOT OF COORDINATION THAT'S TAKING PLACE MOVING ITEMS, MOVING FURNITURE.

WE'RE MOVING SOME PORTABLES OVER TO HEATHER GLEN SO THAT WE CAN GET THAT WORK DONE BY AUGUST.

SO WHEN OUR STUDENTS COME BACK, THEY WILL ALL BE LOCATED AT HEATHER GLEN, AND THEN WE'LL BE MOVING FORWARD WITH THE RAZING OF MONTCLAIR.

THE CARSON-MULKEY AGRICULTURAL SCIENCE CENTER, THAT ONE IS MOVING ALONG VERY NICELY.

THE SCHEMATIC DESIGN PRESENTATION WAS BACK IN APRIL.

OUR GEOTECH IS ONGOING AND WE HAVE GOT SOME MUNICIPALITY COORDINATION'S ARE ONGOING.

WE DO HAVE A CITY OF SACHSE SANITATION, A SANITARY SEWER EASEMENT THAT WE ARE REVIEWING RIGHT NOW.

THE CITY IS ACTUALLY DOING A SANITARY SEWER LINE AT MUDDY CREEK.

AND SO WE'RE WORKING THROUGH THAT OR VETTING THAT OUT, MAKING SURE THAT THE REQUEST THAT THE CITY IS ASKING FOR DOES NOT INTERFERE WITH WHAT WE'RE TRYING TO DO FOR OUR A GRICULTURAL CENTER.

SOUTH GARLAND AND NORTH GARLAND HIGH SCHOOL END-USER MEETINGS WITH THE FINE ARTS ARE COMPLETE, AND WE PLAN ON BRINGING TO YOU A SCHEMATIC DESIGN PRESENTATION IN JULY FOR THAT SPECIFIC PROJECT.

OUR NORTHLAKE, ROWLETT AND TOLER PROJECT. OUR SCOPE TO BUDGET IS COMPLETE.

WE PLAN ON BRINGING TO YOU A SCHEMATIC DESIGN PRESENTATION NEXT MONTH IN JULY.

AND THEN OUR COOPER, HERFURTH, STEADHAM T HAT ROOF PACKAGE.

IF YOU'VE DRIVEN BY THOSE THREE CAMPUSES, WE'VE GOT SCREEN FENCING UP ALREADY.

WE'VE GOT A LOT OF MATERIALS THAT HAVE BEEN DELIVERED. WE'VE GOT, STAIR TOWERS HAVE BEEN CONSTRUCTED, AND SO WE'RE WORKING TO GET THOSE ROOFS REPLACED FOR ALL THOSE THREE CAMPUSES.

OUR FENCING PROJECT FOR THE PHASE 2, THAT'S THE 23 CAMPUSES THAT INVOLVE 7 H IGH SCHOOLS, 12 MIDDLE SCHOOLS, 4 SPECIAL SERVICE CAMPUSES. WE DID A SCHEMATIC DESIGN PRESENTATION ON MAY THE 13TH, AND WE ARE COORDINATING MEETINGS WITH LEADERSHIP. WHAT WE WANT TO DO IN THIS PARTICULAR CASE, WE NEED TO VISIT WITH LEADERSHIP TO VET OUT THE FINAL DESIGNS THAT WE'VE COME UP WITH TO ENSURE THAT WHAT WE'RE PROPOSING, AS FAR AS THE DESIGN WORKS, NOT ONLY WITH OUR CAMPUS, BUT OUR LEADERSHIP AND OUR IN OUR DISTRICT, AND SO WE'RE WORKING WITH THAT. OUR BEAVER TECHNOLOGY, GARLAND HIGH SCHOOL, CARVER.

WE DO KNOW THAT WE'VE GOT WATER INTRUSION FROM THE ROOFS, BUT THIS IS NOT A ROOF PROJECT.

THIS IS ACTUALLY FOR THE PERIMETER OF THE BUILDING.

AND OUR LOCAL AREA NETWORK, THIS IS OUR LAND PROJECT AGAIN, THIS IS BEING FUNDED FROM PROP A.

SO OUR TECHNOLOGY ACTUALLY HAS TWO PORTIONS TO IT, PORTIONS OF PROP A AND PORTIONS IN PROP C.

AND THIS IS THE PROP A PORTION. SO OUR HUB SITES, THE EQUIPMENT, CONFIGURATION AND TESTING IS IN PROGRESS.

AND OUR METROPOLITAN AREA NETWORK EQUIPMENT HAS BEEN ORDERED.

WE ARE AT THE LAST PIECE WHERE WE'RE TAKING THE BASEBALL FIELD, THE SOFTBALL FIELD FOR GARLAND HIGH SCHOOL.

TODAY, THEY'RE ON TWO SEPARATE PROPERTIES. WE'RE GOING TO CREATE A COMPLEX FOR GARLAND HIGH SCHOOL.

SO WHAT THAT MEANS IS NEW FIELDS, NEW LIGHTS, NEW CONCESSIONS.

IT'S BASICALLY A BRAND-NEW COMPLEX FOR THEM, SO WE'VE INVITED HKS, THE ARCHITECT OF RECORD HERE TODAY, TO PRESENT TO YOU A SCHEMATIC DESIGN PRESENTATION FOR THIS PORTION OF THE PROJECT PRESIDENT BEACH, MEMBERS OF THE BOARD, DR. LOPEZ, THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR THE TIME TONIGHT TO PRESENT THE INFORMATION ON THIS PROJECT WE'LL BE LOOKING AT THE EXISTING SITE GOING OVER THE PROJECT SCOPE AND THEN LOOKING AT THE BASEBALL/S OFTBALL FIELD LAYOUTS AND THEN CLOSING UP WITH THE PROPOSED PROJECT SCHEDULE AND SOME COST INFORMATION.

SO RIGHT NOW, HERE IS THE TWO FIELDS AS WE LOOK AT IT RIGHT NOW, THE BASEBALL FIELD IS ON THE WILLIAMS STADIUM SITE, AND THEN THE SOFTBALL FIELD IS A FEW BLOCKS AWAY TO THE NORTHEAST OR THE NORTHWEST.

AND THE NEW SITE THAT WE'RE LOOKING AT IS THE VERY WESTERN PART OF THE WILLIAMS STADIUM SITE.

BEFORE ANY NEW CONSTRUCTION HAPPENS, WE'RE LOOKING AT A NEEDING TO TAKE OUT SOME OF THE EXISTING BUILDINGS THERE ON THAT WESTERN PORTION OF THE SITE.

BECAUSE OF SOME SCHEDULING SITUATIONS THAT WE'LL TALK ABOUT IN A LITTLE BIT.

WE'RE LOOKING AT KIND OF A TWO-PART CONSTRUCTION SCHEDULE FOR THIS PROJECT.

KIND OF THE SOUTHERN PORTION OF THE SITE WHERE THOSE RETAIL BUILDINGS ARE, AS WELL AS THE TAX STORAGE OFFICE, AND THERE'S AN ATHLETIC STORAGE BUILDING THERE AS WELL.

THAT WILL BE KIND OF PHASE ONE OF THE PROJECT.

AND THEN THE STUDENT SERVICES BUILDING TO THE NORTH WOULD BE A PHASE TWO OF THE PROJECT.

SO WE'D BE LOOKING AT DEMOING THE SOUTHERN HALF OF THIS PROJECT TO START WITH AND THEN AFTER RELOCATION OF THE PEOPLE IN THE BUILDING, IN THE STUDENT SERVICES BUILDING, WE WOULD START THAT PHASE TWO OF THE PROJECT AND WE'LL LOOK AT KIND OF WHAT THAT LOOKS LIKE FROM A SCHEDULING STANDPOINT. SO PROJECT SCOPE COMPARING THIS TO PART ONE AND PART TWO, VERY SIMILAR NEW ARTIFICIAL TURF FIELDS, DUGOUTS, BACKSTOPS, PROTECTIVE NETTING, OVER THOSE BACKSTOPS, BLEACHER CANOPIES OVER THE BLEACHERS, BULLPENS, A NEW SOUND SYSTEM AND SPEAKERS, AND THEN WATER AT THE HOME DUGOUT AND SOME ELECTRICAL UPGRADES ON THE SITE. AND THEN, BECAUSE BOTH OF THESE ARE NEW FIELDS, RATHER THAN RENOVATIONS OR IMPROVEMENTS OF EXISTING FIELDS, THERE ARE SOME ADDITIONAL SCOPE ITEMS THAT GO ALONG WITH THIS PROJECT.

WE HAVE NEW FIELD LIGHTS FOR BOTH THE BASEBALL AND SOFTBALL.

NEW CONCESSIONS, TOILETS, SUPPORT AND TICKETING BUILDING.

KIND OF AS WE TALKED ABOUT KIND OF A COMPLEX TYPE OF THING THAT WOULD BE LOCATED BETWEEN THE TWO FIELDS.

SO NEW ENTRY PLAZA APPROACH TO THE FIELDS FROM THE EXISTING PARKING THERE ON SITE TO THE ACTUAL TICKETING AND CONCESSION STAND, AS WELL AS THE BLEACHERS. YOU'D HAVE NEW WRAP-AROUND BLEACHERS THAT WOULD BE SIMILAR TO WHAT'S AT THE EXISTING BASEBALL STADIUM THERE ON THE SITE.

A NEW PRESS BOX, NEW BATTING CAGES, TWO LANES EACH FOR BASEBALL AND SOFTBALL, STORAGE BUILDING TO KIND OF HOUSE SOME OF THE BASEBALL AND SOFTBALL NEEDS, AS WELL AS KIND OF THE GROOMER THAT WOULD BE NEEDED FOR THE TURF.

THE BASEBALL WOULD HAVE A METAL PANEL, OUTFIELD FENCING SIMILAR TO WHAT'S THERE ON THE EXISTING BASEBALL FIELD, AND THEN YOU'D HAVE NEW SCOREBOARDS FOR EACH BASEBALL AND SOFTBALL.

AND THEN LOOKING AT THE ACTUAL CONCEPTUAL DESIGN FOR THE LAYOUT, YOU'D HAVE THE SOFTBALL TO THE SOUTH.

YOU'D HAVE THE NORTH, THE BASEBALL FIELD TO THE NORTH.

AND THEN IN BETWEEN THERE YOU WOULD HAVE THAT CONCESSIONS BUILDING WITH TOILETS AND TICKETING AND THINGS LIKE THAT.

WE WOULD BE UTILIZING THE EXISTING PARKING THERE.

THAT IS ALREADY THERE FOR THE FOOTBALL FIELD.

BECAUSE OF THE SIZE OF THE BASEBALL STADIUM, WE WOULD BE TAKING UP SOME OF THE PARKING, JUST A FEW LANES OF THAT PARKING.

AND WE'LL TALK ABOUT KIND OF WHAT EFFECT THAT WOULD HAVE ON THE OVERALL PARKING FOR THE SITE.

WE DID LOOK AT DIFFERENT LAYOUTS, MET WITH THE COACHES AND THE ATHLETIC GROUP TO KIND OF TALK ABOUT WHICH ORIENTATION WORKS BEST.

THE DECISION WAS MADE TO KIND OF ORIENTATE THE BASEBALL FIELD TO THE NORTHEAST, SIMILAR TO WHAT IS OUT THERE RIGHT NOW, TO CREATE THAT, THAT KIND OF COMPLEX THING. WE'VE ORIENTATED THE SOFTBALL FIELD TO THE SOUTHEAST, AND THOSE ARE KIND OF THE TWO PREFERRED LOCATIONS TRADITIONALLY.

HAVING THAT CONCESSION TOILET BUILDING CENTRALIZED EASE OF ACCESS FROM PARKING TO GET TO BOTH FIELDS.

RIGHT NOW THERE ARE 750 EXISTING PARKING SPACES IN THAT KIND OF WEST PARKING LOT OF THE STADIUM.

WE'D BE LOSING SOMEWHERE AROUND 75 TO A LITTLE OVER 100 SPACES.

THERE ARE SOME OPPORTUNITIES TO THE NORTH OF THAT SITE.

YES, YOU CAN KIND OF SEE TO THE NORTH OF THE BASEBALL SITE IN THE FUTURE.

THERE COULD BE SOME POSSIBILITIES TO ADD ADDITIONAL PARKING THERE IF THOSE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED.

AND THEN SOME ADDITIONAL THINGS THAT AS WE MOVE FORWARD WITH THE DESIGN THAT WE'D BE LOOKING AT, BECAUSE OF THE RIGHT FIELD ORIENTATION AT THE BASEBALL BEING RIGHT THERE NEXT TO THE PARKING, WE POTENTIALLY MIGHT NEED SOME ADDITIONAL KIND OF SCREEN FENCING RIGHT THERE TO CATCH HOME RUN BALLS AND THINGS LIKE THAT BEFORE IT WENT INTO THE PARKING AREA.

AND THEN A LITTLE BIT OF A BLOW UP OF THE SOFTBALL FIELD KIND OF AGAIN, SIMILAR TO WHAT WE'VE BEEN DOING AT PART ONE AND PART TWO BASEBALL AND SOFTBALL FIELDS.

YOU'VE GOT THE DUGOUTS, THE BAT, YOU KNOW, BATTING CAGES, THE BULLPENS, THE COVERED CANOPY OVER THE BLEACHERS, A PRESS BOX AND THEN YOU CAN KIND OF SEE HOW THAT'S RELATED TO THE CONCESSION AND TICKETING BUILDING.

AND THEN BASEBALL FIELD. WE'VE HAD SOME MEETING WITH THE COACHES ON KIND OF HOW TO ORIENT OR HOW TO CONFIGURE THE FIELD, THE THIRD AND FIRST BASELINES, HOW DEEP CENTER FIELD IS POWER ALLEYS, KIND OF WE HAD THOSE DISCUSSIONS WITH THE COACHES, WE'VE GOT THAT INFORMATION BACK. SO AS WE MOVE FORWARD WITH THE DESIGN WE'LL INCORPORATE THOSE DESIGN ELEMENTS THAT WE'VE RECEIVED FROM THEM.

AND THEN AS WE MOVE TO THE SCHEDULE AGAIN BECAUSE OF THE STUDENT SERVICES BUILDING NEEDING TO RELOCATE THE PERSONNEL TO A DIFFERENT LOCATION. WE'RE ABLE TO START THE, THE SOFTBALL FIELD AND THE SUPPORT BUILDING AHEAD OF THAT TIME OR THAT MOVE IS GOING TO TAKE PLACE.

SO WE'D BE COMPLETING PLANS HERE IN JULY. WE'D BE PERMITTING THROUGH AUGUST AND SEPTEMBER HOPEFUL BOARD APPROVAL FOR THE COST AND THE PROJECT OVERALL IN SEPTEMBER AND THEN FOR THE SOFTBALL AND SUPPORT BUILDINGS, WE'D LOOK AT ABATEMENT THIS SUMMER, DEMOLITION THIS SUMMER AS WELL, MOVING INTO SEPTEMBER, AND THEN ACTUAL START OF CONSTRUCTION IN OCTOBER.

FOR THE BASEBALL FIELD, WE'RE LOOKING AT THE PERSONNEL RELOCATION OF STUDENT SERVICES BUILDING IN SEPTEMBER, FOLLOWED BY ABATEMENT IN OCTOBER, DEMOLITION IN NOVEMBER, AND CONSTRUCTION THERE WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO START UNTIL DECEMBER.

AND THAT WOULD LEAVE A SUBSTANTIAL COMPLETION OF THE SOFTBALL AND SUPPORT BUILDINGS SOMETIME IN FEBRUARY OF 2026 AND THEN A COUPLE OF MONTHS LATER FOR BASEBALL IN APRIL OF 2026. AND THEN FROM A COST STANDPOINT WE DID A BID OUT THE DEMOLITION PORTION OF THE PROJECT I BELIEVE THAT'S ON THE AGENDA FOR TONIGHT.

AND THEN ADDED THAT TO THE NEW CONSTRUCTION ESTIMATE WHERE WE'RE AT RIGHT NOW.

WE'RE A LITTLE UNDER $9.5 MILLION, WHICH IS UNDER THE $10 MILLION BUDGET KIND OF SCOPE THAT WE'VE BEEN LOOKING AT, SO THAT'S THE INFORMATION THAT I HAVE. YES, SIR.

ONE OF THE QUESTIONS I WAS GOING TO ASK YOU ON THE LOCATION OF THE FIELDS THERE, THE MAIN THOROUGHFARE BEHIND THOSE FIELDS IS GLENBROOK.

IS THERE GOING TO BE ANY PROTECTION FOR PEOPLE COMING IN TO THE PLAZA AREA OR WHATEVER? OR WILL THEY BE ABLE TO, I MEAN, TO PROTECT THOSE FIELDS FROM PEOPLE JUST WANDERING INTO THOSE FIELDS.

SO WE WOULD BE LOOKING AT FENCING THE PERIMETER OF THE ENTIRE PROJECT, SIMILAR TO WHAT OTHER FIELDS ARE FENCED AT, SO THAT YOU WOULD HAVE KIND OF A ONE ACCESS WAY INTO THAT AREA BETWEEN THE TWO FIELDS.

AND THEN THAT'S WHERE THE TICKETING BOOTH WOULD BE RIGHT THERE. SO THERE WOULD BE KIND OF ONE ACCESS POINT INTO THAT COMPLEX THAT EVERYBODY WOULD KIND OF HAVE TO GO THROUGH AND, AND EITHER GO UP TO BASEBALL OR DOWN TO SOFTBALL, BUT THE IDEA WOULD BE TO FENCE THE ENTIRE COMPLEX.

SO WE'VE TAKEN THOSE AND AS WE START INTO DESIGN D EVELOPMENT AND BEYOND RIGHT AND SOME OF THE EXISTING FIELDS THAT WE FOUND HAVE PRETTY EXTENSIVE FOUL BALL AREAS, SO WE'LL BE LOOKING AT THAT DISTANCE TO MAYBE NOT BE SIMILAR TO SOME OF THE OTHER FIELDS WHERE THE FOUL BALL AREA MIGHT BE A LITTLE BIT TOO MUCH, AND TRYING TO FIND A NICE BALANCE WHERE YOU'VE GOT THAT KIND OF NICE PARALLEL LINE, BUT IT'S MAYBE NOT AS EXTENSIVE.

WHAT'S YOUR SETBACK FROM THE SIDEWALK? WHAT'S REQUIRED? FROM THE CONCESSION AREA SIDEWALK? JUST KNOW FROM THE GLENBROOK SIDEWALK.

THIS IS ARTURO VIERA, HE IS THE PROJECT MANAGER, AND WE ACTUALLY HAVE SARAH GENTRY SITTING IN THE AUDIENCE, SHE'S THE PROJECT COORDINATOR. BUT JUST ON THE BEHALF OF OUR TEAM, I JUST WANTED TO JUST LET YOU ALL KNOW HOW MUCH WE'VE ENJOYED THIS PROJECT AND HOW EXCITED WE ARE TO BE PRESENTING THIS TONIGHT. SO FIRST OF ALL, TO TALK ABOUT THE IDENTITY, AS JAVIER MENTIONED EARLIER, THIS IS THE COMBINATION OF TWO SCHOOLS, HEATHER GLEN AND MONTCLAIR ELEMENTARY. THESE ARE TWO DIFFERENT CAMPUSES.

THEY BOTH HAVE THEIR OWN CULTURES AND THINGS THAT ARE IMPORTANT TO THEM.

WE WENT THROUGH A DESIGN PROCESS, A CHARRETTE PROCESS, TO KIND OF UNDERSTAND THAT A LITTLE BIT BETTER.

WE WANTED TO MAKE SURE WE BROUGHT THE IDENTITY FROM EACH OF THOSE SCHOOLS TOGETHER.

ONE OF THE REALLY GREAT THINGS ABOUT THIS IS THEY ACTUALLY BOTH HAVE ROADRUNNER MASCOTS, SO THAT WAS A GREAT DEFINING FACTOR THAT COULD REALLY BRING THE PROJECT TOGETHER. ARTURO IS GOING TO WALK THROUGH SOME THINGS THAT WE KIND OF PULLED FROM THAT ROADRUNNER MASCOT IN ORDER TO DESIGN THIS BUILDING.

SO THROUGH THAT CHARRETTE PROCESS THAT I MENTIONED, IT WAS VERY IMPORTANT TO TALK TO EACH OF THE CAMPUSES AND REALLY UNDERSTAND FROM THEIR TEACHERS AND THEIR STAFF WHAT WAS IMPORTANT TO THEM.

AND MAKING THIS AS A SCHOOL FOR BOTH CAMPUSES IN ITS NEW FORM.

WE ALSO TALKED A LITTLE BIT WITH THE ADMIN TEAM, HAD SEVERAL PEOPLE ON THAT TEAM.

WE SHOWED LOTS OF IMAGES OF THINGS THAT MIGHT KIND OF ALIGN WITH WHAT THEIR VISION FOR THIS SCHOOL THEY GOT TO PUT STICKY NOTES ON THOSE IMAGES TELLING IF IT'S GREEN, YOU LIKE IT, IF IT'S RED, YOU DON'T AND SOME OF THE REASONS FOR THOSE DECISIONS.

WE ALSO TOOK TOURS OF A FEW WRA PROJECTS IN THE AREA JUST TO KIND OF GET AN IDEA OF WHAT THEY REALLY HAD AS A VISION FOR THIS NEW ELEMENTARY SCHOOL. AND THEN LASTLY, AT OUR OFFICE, WE HAD ONE OF SEVERAL PIN UPS, BUT THIS IS JUST SOME IMAGES OF THAT PIN UP THAT WE DID IN FRONT OF OUR ENTIRE OFFICE, JUST TO SOLICIT KIND OF FEEDBACK FROM, FROM ALL OF OUR DESIGN MEMBERS IN THE COMPANY.

BUT OF COURSE, THE OTHER THING THAT WAS REALLY IMPORTANT TO THE IDENTITY OF THIS SCHOOL IS YOUR, YOURS TRULY, MISS LINDA L. GRIFFIN, WHO THIS BUILDING WILL BE NAMED AFTER.

WE ALL KNOW A LOT OF THE THINGS THAT SHE'S DONE IN HER LIFE.

SO I JUST WANTED TO QUICKLY GO THROUGH THOSE. THE FIRST ONE IS TO BE AN ICONIC LANDMARK, I KNOW THAT THIS IS A PLACE THAT'S GOING TO BE, THE SMALL SITE, BUT IT'S IN THE MIDDLE OF A COMMUNITY. SO IT'S A PLACE THAT THE COMMUNITY IS GOING TO USE AND DR.

LOPEZ TALKED MANY TIMES ABOUT THE WOW FACTOR, THIS HAS TO BE SOMETHING REALLY IMPRESSIVE, AND I THINK YOU'LL SEE THAT WHEN YOU SEE THE IMAGES.

IMPROVE THE SITE FUNCTIONALITY. THERE'S LOTS OF CHALLENGES ON THAT SITE, LOTS OF TRAFFIC ISSUES, AND WE'LL BE IMPROVING ALL THAT BY A LOT, BY BRINGING ALL OF THAT STACK SPACE ONTO THE SITE.

CREATING A WELCOMING AND SECURE EXPERIENCE, OF COURSE, SECURITY FOR YOUR STUDENTS IS VERY IMPORTANT TO US SO THAT'S SOMETHING WE LOOKED AT.

PROVIDING LOTS OF OUTDOOR ENVIRONMENTS AND PROPOSING A BUILT SPACE FOR THE CELEBRATION AND COMPETITION OF THE STUDENTS THAT USE IT. FLEXIBILITY WAS IMPORTANT AND ALSO COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT.

SO WE'VE GOT INSTRUCTIONAL SPACES, WE'VE GOT SPED , WE'VE GOT SPECIAL PROGRAMS, INSTRUCTIONAL SUPPORT, A MEDIA CENTER, PHYSICAL EDUCATION SPACES, FOOD SERVICE, ADMIN, COMMUNITY ROOM, WHICH IS THE ONE THAT WE KIND OF HAVE TALKED ABOUT AS BEING THAT SPECIAL SPACE IN COMMON AREA SPACES, REALLY TALKING ABOUT THE DIFFERENT SPACES AROUND THE FOR MORE UTILITARIAN FUNCTION.

AND SO WE WANTED TO BE VERY INTENTIONAL ABOUT HOW WE POSITION THE BUILDING TO MAKE THE BUILDING AS EFFICIENT AS POSSIBLE, BUT ALSO WORK WITH ITS SURROUNDING CONTEXT IN THE COMMUNITY.

SO ONE OF THE MAIN THINGS THAT WE WANTED TO FOCUS ON, ON THE TOP LEFT HERE IS THE LOCATION OF THE UTILITY AREA, SO SERVICE YARD, YOU KNOW, SOMETIMES THOSE SPACES AREN'T THE MOST APPEALING AND VISUALLY, YOU KNOW, BEAUTIFUL SPACES. SO WE WANTED TO MAKE SURE THAT THAT WASN'T SOMETHING THAT WAS IMPACTING YOUR APPROACH TO THE BUILDING.

OVER TO THE RIGHT ALSO THINKING ABOUT JUST ACCESS TO THE SITE AND HOW TRAFFIC MOVES THROUGH AND FLOWS, THIS KIND OF LEADS INTO POINT TWO IN OUR GUIDING PRINCIPLES ABOUT TRAFFIC.

YOU KNOW, RIGHT NOW, TRAFFIC IN MONTCLAIR IS NOT THE BEST, SO HOW CAN WE ACTUALLY IMPROVE THIS? NOT ONLY FROM A BUILD STANDPOINT, BUT ALSO JUST EVERYDAY EXPERIENCE OF DROPPING OFF A STUDENT.

HOW CAN WE MAKE THAT MORE EFFICIENT? ALSO, SOLAR ORIENTATION PLAYED A BIG PART.

THIS SITE ACTUALLY HAPPENS RIGHT AT 6:35 AM WHEN THAT LOOP IS TURNING FROM NORTH SOUTH TO EAST WEST, AND SO IT ACTUALLY ROTATES OUR SITE BY 45 DEGREES.

BUT WE WANTED TO STILL TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE AMOUNT OF NATURAL LIGHT THAT WE COULD BRING INTO THE CLASSROOM SPACES.

AND SO THAT BOTTOM LEFT IMAGE IS KIND OF TELLING THAT STORY ABOUT HOW WE ORIENTED OUR CLASSROOM WING SO THAT IT HELPS RESPOND TO THE SOLAR ORIENTATION THE BEST. AND KIND OF IN LINE WITH THAT ON THE BOTTOM RIGHT IS ALSO HOW OUR BUILDING THEN BECOMES MORE ENERGY EFFICIENT SO THIS ALLOWS THE SOLAR HEAT GAIN TO BE MINIMIZED BECAUSE OUR LONG FACADE ACTUALLY HITS THE NORTH SIDE, AND THE SOUTH FACADE IS ABLE TO BE MITIGATED WITH SHADING DEVICES.

ON THE SOUTH SIDE, YOU'VE GOT A MAIN DROP-OFF LOOP WITH A MAIN ENTRY PLAZA.

ON THE EAST SIDE YOU HAVE A SECONDARY DROP-OFF LOOP, WHICH RIGHT NOW WE'RE PLANNING ON BUSSES TO BE USING THAT AREA.

AND THEN ALSO ON THE TOP AND LEFT SIDE YOU'VE GOT A BIGGER DROP-OFF LOOP.

AND SO REALLY THAT'S DOING A LOT TO PULL CAR TRAFFIC OFF THE STREET.

THAT WILL FUNCTION ALSO AS AN ADDITIONAL PARENT DROP-OFF AREA.

ONE THING THAT WE ALSO WANTED TO CREATE WAS A CLEAR DISTINCTION BETWEEN PUBLIC AND PRIVATE AREAS, SO ON THE FRONT SIDE YOU SEE SOME VEGETATION AND SOME LIKE I MENTIONED, A MAIN ENTRY PLAZA.

BUT ON THE BACK SIDE, THERE'S A VERY SECURE OUTDOOR SPACE FOR STUDENTS THAT INCLUDES A TURF SOCCER FIELD, BASKETBALL COURT, SEPARATE PLAY AREAS FOR OLDER KIDS AND YOUNGER KIDS, OUTDOOR LEARNING AREAS IN THAT LITTLE V SHAPE TOWARDS THE CENTER THERE, AND AN OUTDOOR AMPHITHEATER FOR STUDENTS AS WELL.

AND THIS IS A DIAGRAM NOW KIND OF SHOWING THE MASSING BLOCKS AND HOW ALL THE SPACES ARE NOW DIVIDED AND KIND OF COME TOGETHER IN THE CAMPUS.

WE ALSO HAVE THE GYM IN GREEN, WHICH IS THE STORM SHELTER.

WE'VE GOT THE CAFETERIA AND KITCHEN THERE AT THE BACK THAT KIND OF TIES INTO THAT SERVICE YARD THAT WE TALKED ABOUT, BUT ALSO ALLOWS US TO USE DROP-OFF LOOP 3 AS A DROP-OFF AREA AND A STAGING AREA IN THE CAFETERIA.

AND THEN WE'VE GOT MUSIC ROOM THAT'S ADJACENT TO THE CAFETERIA, WHICH INCLUDES THE STAGE.

SO WE'LL HAVE DIRECT CONNECTION AND YOU'LL SEE THAT IN THE PLANS. SO THIS IS LEVEL ONE, AGAIN, JUST KIND OF TALKING THROUGH WHAT'S ON LEVEL ONE ON THE LEFT THERE, YOU'VE GOT THE CLASSROOM WINGS.

THAT CENTRAL PORTION YOU SEE THERE IS ADMIN IN THE RED OR LIGHT RED.

THE DARK RED IS THAT COMMUNITY ROOM, AS YOU CAN SEE, WE'VE KIND OF WORKED HARD TO ISOLATE THAT AND BE ABLE TO KIND OF CREATE THAT AS A UNIQUE ELEMENT AT THE CORNER OF THE BUILDING. THE GREEN, THERE IS THE STORM SHELTER WITH THE THICKER LINES, AND THEN YOU'VE GOT CAFETERIA AND MUSIC ROOM THERE TO THE NORTH.

AS YOU GO UP A LEVEL, THAT'S WHERE YOU FINALLY GET TO THE MEDIA CENTER, SO WE'RE MOVING THE MEDIA CENTER UP SO THAT IT CAN BE SECURED AND NOT IN THE PUBLIC AREAS.

BUT STILL FEEL KIND OF INVITING AND OPEN FOR STUDENTS SO, AS YOU MOVE UP THE BUILDING, YOU KNOW, THE STUDENTS WOULD HAVE ACCESS TO THIS BUT NOT FROM LEVEL ONE.

WE'LL CREATE A SECURE ENVIRONMENT TO BE ABLE TO SEPARATE THE ACADEMIC AREAS FROM THE PUBLIC SPACES IN THE LOBBY.

IN THIS SPACE, YOU ALSO HAVE SOME ADDITIONAL COLLABORATION AREAS, SOME LEARNING PODS RIGHT OFF THE LIBRARY AND THEN THE COMPUTER LAB WILL EXIST IN THIS LEVEL AS WELL. GOING UP TO THE FINAL THIRD LEVEL, THIS BECOMES AN ADDITIONAL CLASSROOM AREA FOR THE OLDER KIDS.

IT ALSO HOUSES THE MAKERSPACE THAT NOW OVERLOOKS THE LIBRARY THERE IN THE MIDDLE, AND THEN THE SCIENCE LAB IS CONNECTED TO THAT.

SO ONE OF THE THINGS THAT WE TALKED ABOUT THAT WE THOUGHT WOULD BE AN INTERESTING IDEA IS HOW DO WE KIND OF START TO CONNECT MAKERSPACE AND MORE HANDS-ON LEARNING WITH SCIENCE AND CREATING THAT ADJACENCY ALLOWS FOR SOME OPPORTUNITIES THERE.

SO MOVING ON TO THE EXTERIOR OF THE BUILDING, YOU KNOW, WE REALLY WANTED TO BE INSPIRED BY GARLAND AND THE IDENTITY OF THE CAMPUSES THAT WE KIND OF TALKED ABOUT. A ND SO SOME OF THESE IMAGES ON THE RIGHT THERE, YOU CAN SEE THAT THEY'RE LABELED, I MEAN, THESE ARE ACTUAL IMAGES FROM DUCK CREEK THAT'S JUST NORTH OF THIS SITE, AND ALSO THE SPRING CREEK FOREST PRESERVE OVER BY NAAMAN FOREST HIGH SCHOOL.

AND, YOU KNOW, THESE ARE BEAUTIFUL AREAS THAT INSPIRE, YOU KNOW, THIS KIND OF CONNECTION TO NATURE.

BUT ALSO THE ROADRUNNER ITSELF HAS AN INTERESTING FEATHERING PATTERN, AS YOU CAN SEE HERE, TYPICALLY A ROADRUNNER IS MORE NEUTRAL, BUT SOMETIMES WHEN THEY'RE IN FLIGHT AND THEIR WINGS EXPAND, IT CREATES THIS BEAUTIFUL GRADIENT OF COLOR. AND SO WE THOUGHT THERE WAS SOMETHING INTERESTING ABOUT THE DUAL NATURE OF THAT, OF HOW YOU CAN PERCEIVE A MORE NEUTRAL PALETTE.

BUT THEN THINGS CAN CHANGE AND IT CHANGES THE COMPLEXION OF THE BIRD.

AND SO WE THOUGHT, HOW CAN WE IMPLEMENT THAT INTO OUR BUILDING? SO KIND OF TAKING A LOOK AT THE FRONT ENTRANCE NOW, SO THIS IS NOW THE INTERSECTION BETWEEN BIRCHWOOD AND BROADMOOR.

SO ONE OF THE THINGS THAT WE WANTED TO REALLY KIND OF PLAY UP HERE IS THE IDEA OF SCALE, BUT BEING ABLE TO SET THE BUILDING BACK GIVEN THAT THE SITE IS SO SMALL WE UNDERSTOOD THAT IF YOU PUT, LIKE A BIG TOWERING ENTRANCE RIGHT AT THE INTERSECTION,

IT WOULD HAVE A PRESENCE, BUT IT WOULD BE DIFFICULT TO APPRECIATE THE ENTIRE CAMPUS AS A WHOLE.

SO BY PULLING THE BUILDING BACK AND ALLOWING THE LIBRARY THAT YOU SEE THERE TO SIT BACK ON THE SITE AS YOU'RE WALKING UP EVERY DAY THROUGH THIS PATHWAY, YOU'LL BE ABLE TO REALLY ENGAGE WITH THIS BIG MASS THAT YOU SEE HERE AND REALLY JUST GET, YOU KNOW, BE ABLE TO PERCEIVE THE GRANDEUR OF THIS SPACE AS YOU'RE ENTERING THE CAMPUS.

THIS IS ANOTHER SHOT NOW OF YOUR APPROACH SO HERE ON THE LEFT IS ONE OF THOSE DROP-OFF LOOPS WE TALKED ABOUT.

AND THEN AS YOU SEE IT'S CONED OFF SO THAT WE HAVE A PEDESTRIAN ACCESS WAY.

THERE ARE A LOT OF WALKERS IN THIS NEIGHBORHOOD SO WE WANTED TO GIVE THEM AN EXPERIENCE AS WELL. OVER TO THE RIGHT THERE, YOU CAN START TO SEE SOME OF THE SEMBLANCES OF THAT COMMUNITY ROOM WITH THAT BIG GLASS AREA WE REALLY WANTED THAT TO MAKE A STATEMENT, NOT OVERPOWER THE MAIN ENTRANCE, BUT STILL HAVE ITS OWN PRESENCE ON THE BUILDING'S MASSING.

AND SO THAT'S WHAT YOU'RE SEEING THERE ON THE RIGHT. THIS IS NOW KIND OF THE ENTRANCE INTO WHAT WE'RE CALLING THE LINDA L.

GRIFFIN CULTURAL CENTER. AND THE REASON FOR THAT NAME IS REALLY WE WANT IT TO BE THIS COMMUNITY SPACE THAT'S OPEN FOR DIVERSE CULTURES AND DIVERSE GROUPS TO COME AND USE YOU KNOW, WE LEARN FROM MRS. GRIFFIN THAT HER INVOLVEMENT WITH DIFFERENT COMMUNITY GROUPS IN THE CITY REALLY KIND OF INSPIRE PEOPLE.

AND SO WE WANT THIS SPACE TO BE USED AS THAT AND INSPIRE PEOPLE TO COME TOGETHER AND IMPROVE YOU KNOW, SOCIETY AND THE AREA THAT THEY LIVE. SO NOW WE'RE LOOKING AT THE MAIN ENTRANCE OF THE SCHOOL.

SO REALLY WHAT YOU SEE HERE ON THE BOTTOM WHERE THAT CANOPY IS, THAT'S REALLY WHAT WE'RE DOING, IS COMPRESSING THE SCALE. SO WE HAVE THIS BIG THREE-STORY BUILDING, BUT WE DON'T WANT TO FEEL LIKE YOU'RE JUST ENTERING THIS BIG THREE-STORY MASS SO AGAIN, JUST CREATING A CANOPY AREA THAT'S PROTECTED AND IT FEELS MORE HUMAN SCALE THERE.

THIS IS NOW THE BACKSIDE SO THIS IS THAT NORTH SIDE THAT WE SAW WHERE THE SOCCER FIELDS WERE.

SO THIS IS HOW YOU LOOK AT ALL THE CLASSROOMS AMPLE WINDOWS, AMPLE NATURAL LIGHT THAT WE WANT TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THAT NORTH SIDE.

THIS IS NOW LOOKING AT SOME LEARNING GARDENS AND OUTDOOR LEARNING AREAS.

ONE THING TO NOTE HERE ON THE RIGHT IS WE WANTED A CONNECTION TO THE OUTDOORS FROM THE ART ROOM.

AND SO THAT'S WHAT WE WANTED TO CREATE THIS KIND OF COVERED PORCH AREA SO THAT ART STUDENTS CAN GO OUTSIDE AND BE INSPIRED BY NATURE AND HAVE THAT DIRECT CONNECTION TO THEIR CLASSROOM. AND THEN OVER ON THE LEFT, YOU SEE SOME OF THE OUTDOOR CLASSROOM AREAS.

THIS IS A VIEW NOW INTO THE AMPHITHEATER THAT I MENTIONED SO OVER ON THE LEFT IT HAS A DIRECT CONNECTION, VISUAL CONNECTION TO THE CAFETERIA STAGE, WHICH YOU'LL SEE HERE IN A LITTLE BIT FOR THE INTERIORS.

AND THEN YOU CAN KIND OF SEE THE UPPER LEVELS THERE IS THE LIBRARY AND THE SCIENCE LAB BEYOND.

AND THIS IS NOW JUST KIND OF LIKE A NICE NIGHT SHOT ONE OF THE THINGS THAT WE WANTED TO HIGHLIGHT THERE IS THAT THERE'S AN OPPORTUNITY FOR THIS CAMPUS TO BE ACTIVE BEYOND JUST THE SCHOOL DAY. AND SO THIS IS WHAT, YOU KNOW, A NIGHTTIME RENDITION OF THAT WOULD LOOK LIKE, GIVEN THE FACT THAT THERE WOULD BE COMMUNITY EVENTS HELD HERE AFTER HOURS.

AND REALLY KIND OF AGAIN, HIGHLIGHTING THAT COMMUNITY ROOM AS A SPACE FOR THE PUBLIC TO COME IN AND INTERACT.

AND MOVING ON TO THE INTERIOR YOU KNOW, WE AGAIN, THE THING THAT TIES THESE TWO CAMPUSES TOGETHER IS THE ROADRUNNER AND THE ROADRUNNER HAS SO MANY SURPRISES. AND AS YOU CAN KIND OF SEE THERE AROUND THEIR EYE, THEY ALSO HAVE THIS REALLY COOL GRADIENT PATTERN THAT KIND OF MIMICS SOME OF THE FEATHERING. BUT IT CREATES THIS REALLY INTERESTING EFFECT AND IT JUST SO HAPPENS THAT IT'S ALSO BLUE AND ORANGE, WHICH IS THE CURRENT COLORS OF MONTCLAIR AND HEATHER GLEN.

SO IT REALLY JUST TIES IN REALLY NICELY WITH WHAT WE WANT TO DO ON THE INTERIOR SPACE.

AND SO THIS DIAGRAM REALLY JUST KIND OF DEMONSTRATES THE CONNECTION OF ALL THE SPACES.

SO THERE AT THE BOTTOM LEFT OF THE AREA THAT'S CUT, YOU CAN KIND OF SEE THAT VESTIBULE AND THAT ENTRY PIECE THAT'S A ONE-STORY VOLUME THAT'S VERY KIND OF HUMAN SCALE. BUT THEN AS YOU MOVE UP YOU KIND OF SEE THIS MASSIVE AND VERY AIRY AND FILLED OF NATURAL LIGHT SPACE WHICH IS THE MEDIA CENTER. AND THEN WE'VE GOT REALLY COOL DYNAMIC SPACES LIKE THE SCIENCE LAB ON LEVEL THREE AND THEN THE MEDIA CENTER COLLAB AREAS ON LEVEL TWO.

AND THEN THERE IN THE MIDDLE YOU SEE THE MAKERSPACE THAT REALLY STARTS TO CREATE THE CONNECTION BETWEEN SCIENCE AND LIBRARY SPACES.

SO JUST RUNNING THROUGH SOME OF THOSE SPACES, THIS WOULD BE YOUR FIRST KIND OF ENTRANCE AS YOU WALK IN.

WE GOT A LOT OF FEEDBACK FROM THE CAMPUSES THAT THEY WANTED TO REALLY PUT THE STUDENT WORK IN DISPLAY, AND WHAT BETTER WAY TO DO IT THAN PUT ONE RIGHT FRONT AND CENTER AS SOON AS YOU WALK INTO THE SCHOOL.

AND SO THAT'S KIND OF WHAT WE ENVISION IS A SEATING AREA FOR WAITING AND THEN SOME ARTWORK THERE.

AND WE'RE KIND OF PLAYING WITH SOME MOTIFS OF ROADRUNNERS AND SOME PHRASING THAT WE CAN KIND OF USE AND TALK THROUGH AS WE CONTINUE AND DESIGN.

AS SOON AS YOU WALK IN, YOU KNOW, YOU GO UPSTAIRS AND THEN THIS IS THE ENTRANCE TO THE MEDIA CENTER.

AGAIN, JUST REALLY WANTING TO CREATE A SPACE THAT CREATES AWE AND INSPIRATION AND REALLY BECOMES THIS BIG FOCAL POINT AND JEWEL TO THE CAMPUS.

AND AGAIN, JUST TOP OF MIND WAS THE ALWAYS BENEFITING CHILDREN AND SO KIND OF TYING THAT ALL TOGETHER TO HOPEFULLY REPRESENT A SPACE THAT REALLY COMMEMORATES MRS. GRIFFIN. AND THEN THIS WAS A LITTLE SPECIAL MOMENT WE KIND OF TALKED ABOUT THE ROADRUNNER AND THE DUAL NATURE OF ITS FEATHERS AND COLORING AND SO IF YOU NOTICE ON THE FRONT, THE FINS WERE JUST GRAY TO KIND OF HAVE A MORE MUTED PALETTE BUT FROM THE INSIDE, WE WANTED TO CREATE A REALLY DYNAMIC EXPERIENCE THAT AS YOU'RE WALKING THROUGH THE LIBRARY, IT REALLY KIND OF CHANGES THE COLORS THAT YOU SEE.

AND SO FROM THE INSIDE, THIS IS WHAT YOU WOULD BE LOOKING OUT AND SEEING THIS COLORFUL DISPLAY THAT THE BUILDING IS GIVING YOU AS, YOU KNOW, THE ROADRUNNER WAS OPENING ITS WINGS.

THIS IS NOW A VIEW UPSTAIRS OF THE OF THE MAKERSPACE.

JUST A REALLY COOL OPPORTUNITY FOR KIDS TO, YOU KNOW, HAVE HANDS ON LEARNING AND HAVE A CONNECTION BOTH TO THE LIBRARY BUT ALSO TO THE SCIENCE LABS ON THE LEFT. THIS IS NOW A VIEW OF THE CAFETERIA, AGAIN, WANTING TO CREATE LARGE VOLUME SPACES AND A LOT OF TRANSPARENCY OUT INTO THE OUTDOOR SPACE. AND JUST ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THAT CENTRAL GLASS IS THAT OUTDOOR AMPHITHEATER.

AND THEN FINALLY, THIS SPACE OF THE CULTURAL CENTER, YOU KNOW, WE WANT THIS SPACE TO FEEL A LITTLE BIT MORE ADULT, A LITTLE BIT MORE RESERVED, BUT STILL, YOU KNOW, KIND OF FEEL THE CONNECTION TO THE BUILDING.

SO THAT'S WHY WE'VE KIND OF KEPT SOME OF THOSE CEILING ELEMENTS IN THERE.

BUT WE REALLY WANT THIS SPACE TO BE, YOU KNOW, FILLED WITH TECHNOLOGY AND, AND JUST BE A PLACE FOR ADULTS AND COMMUNITY MEMBERS AND KIDS, EVERYONE ALIKE, TO BE ABLE TO COME IN AND, YOU KNOW, JUST EXPERIENCE THIS, THIS SPACE.

SO NOW WE'LL MOVE ON TO THE ANIMATION PORTION OF THE PRESENTATION HOPEFULLY SHOWS A LITTLE BIT MORE OF THE CAMPUS.

BUT THE CONSTRUCTION BUDGET FOR THIS WAS $46.7 MILLION AND CURRENTLY WE'VE BEEN WORKING WITH CORE AND STEVEN'S ACTUALLY IN THE AUDIENCE HERE. JUST KIND OF PUTTING TOGETHER A BUDGET ESTIMATE.

WRA HAS DONE ESTIMATES AND CORED HAS AS WELL.

AND RIGHT NOW WE'RE SITTING AT ABOUT $53.7 MILLION.

THAT'S A DELTA OF ABOUT $6.9 MILLION. THAT'S COMING IN RIGHT AROUND $500 TO $502 PER SQUARE FOOT .

AS ARTURO MENTIONED, THAT BUILDING SQUARE FOOTAGE IS ABOUT 107,155.

SO I JUST WANTED TO GIVE YOU AN UPDATE ON THAT AND JUST WANTED TO LET YOU KNOW THAT WE WILL BE WORKING CLOSELY WITH YOUR DESIGN TEAM AND JUST MEETING YOUR EXPECTATIONS AS WE GO INTO DESIGN D EVELOPMENT ON THIS BUDGET AND WORKING THROUGH WHERE WE NEED TO BE IN THE END ON THIS PROJECT.

LASTLY, IN THIS PRESENTATION, WE WANTED TO QUICKLY WALK THROUGH THE SCHEDULE. AS YOU CAN SEE HERE, IT LOOKS QUITE COMPLICATED THAT IS BECAUSE IT IS.

THERE'S LOTS OF DIFFERENT FACETS TO THIS SCHEDULE.

RIGHT NOW, AS YOU CAN SEE WE'RE HERE IN JUNE AT THE END OR CULMINATION OF SCHEMATIC D ESIGN WE'VE ALREADY BEGUN THE DESIGN D EVELOPMENT PROCESS SO THERE'S A LITTLE BIT OF AN OVERLAP THERE. THIS IN THE PAST COUPLE OF MONTHS, WE'VE PUT TOGETHER OUR DEMO PACKAGE AND PORTABLE PACKAGE.

DEMO FOR THE EXISTING MONTCLAIR SCHOOL AND THEN PORTABLES, WHICH WILL BE INSTALLED THIS SUMMER.

THAT DEMO PACKAGE WILL BE PUTTING THAT OUT HERE PRETTY QUICK IN THE NEXT COUPLE OF WEEKS.

TRY TO DIVIDE THIS UP BY COLOR JUST TO KIND OF MAKE IT A LITTLE BIT EASIER TO UNDERSTAND.

SITE PACKAGE IS ANOTHER PIECE OF THIS PUZZLE THAT WE'LL BE WORKING ON IN THE COMING MONTHS.

SO THIS PROJECT WILL HAVE TWO DIFFERENT GMPS TO IT.

IT WILL BE THE DEMO OF THE EXISTING MONTCLAIR SCHOOL AND THEN THE SECOND GMP WILL COME IN NOVEMBER WHICH IS THE BUILDING AND SITE CONSTRUCTION OR COST FOR THE BUILDING ITSELF.

JUST WANTED TO KIND OF WALK THROUGH AGAIN. I MENTIONED PORTABLES, THAT'S GOING TO HAPPEN THIS SUMMER.

AND THEN THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE PROJECT WILL START KIND OF LATE THIS YEAR AND THAT WILL LAST ABOUT 22 MONTHS.

SO I GUESS AT THIS POINT JUST WANTED TO KIND OF END THE PRESENTATION AND JUST BASICALLY JUST SAY WHAT A PLEASURE IT'S BEEN WORKING ON THIS PROJECT AND WE JUST HOPE THAT THIS BUILDING WILL HONOR MRS. I GUESS WHERE I'M STRUGGLING IS THAT WHEN YOU GO INTO THOSE OPEN CONCEPTS, WE'RE TRYING TO CLOSE UP THE LIBRARIES AND CREATE NOT SUCH AN OPEN PASS THROUGH EVERYTHING.

BUT THE LAST THREE DESIGNS OF THE SCHOOLS SEEM TO BE NOTHING BUT OPEN CONCEPT, WITH NO CLOSING OF THE LIBRARY.

THERE'S AN ELECTRICAL ROOM. WE SWITCH OUT THE GEAR, WE PUT NEW GEAR IN. IT'S PRETTY STRAIGHTFORWARD. SOME EXISTING CONTEXT IMAGERY, THEIR LOCKER ROOMS THAT LOOK LIKE WHAT YOU WOULD SEE IN OLD MOVIES AND SO WELL LOVED AND CARED FOR BY COACHES AS LOCKER ROOMS OFTEN ARE.

AND OR NEW ADDITION AND NEW RENOVATION, NEW INTERIOR RENOVATION PLAN. SO THAT DEMOLITION PLAN YOU'RE SEEING, WHAT WE'RE REALLY DOING IS WE'RE TAKING THAT ENTIRE INTERIOR AREA OF ATHLETICS AND GUTTING IT SO THAT WE CAN RELAY IT OUT AND MAKE IT A LOT MORE FUNCTIONAL.

RIGHT NOW AT BOTH HOUSTON AND AUSTIN, THERE'S KIND OF A CONVOLUTED WAY, AS A VISITOR, YOU WOULD ENTER INTO THOSE SPACES, AND YOU REALLY HAVE TO GO INTO THE GYM ALMOST TO TO MAINTAIN KIND OF A SECURE VISUAL OF KIDS BETWEEN GYM AND P.E.

NOW, INSTEAD OF GOING INTO THE GYM AND THEN INTO THE LOCKER ROOMS, THEY CAN COME INTO THAT COMMON HALLWAY. COACHES CAN KIND OF COMMAND AND CONTROL IN THAT SPACE, GET THEM INTO THEIR LOCKER ROOMS AND THEN GET THEM INTO THE GYM.

AND HOPEFULLY THEY'RE THEY'RE STAYING IN THE GYM FOR THE MAJORITY OF THAT TIME.

SOME OF THE COACHES DIDN'T HAVE ANY LOCKER ROOMS BEFORE OR OFFICES BEFORE.

SO GREAT ADDITION FOR THOSE FOLKS. AS YOU KIND OF ZOOM IN A LITTLE BIT, YOU SEE ON THE LEFT SIDE, THAT'S THAT ADDITION I WAS TALKING ABOUT. SO REALLY INCREASING THE CAPACITY FOR STORAGE OUT AT HOUSTON IN PARTICULAR WHEN THEY MOVE INTO FOOTBALL SEASON, ALL THE FOOTBALL STUFF COMES OUT OF THE BUILDING AND IT JUST SITS ON THE OUTSIDE GETTING BEATEN DOWN BY THE SUN ALL SEASON LONG.

SO REALLY EXCITED FOR THE OPPORTUNITY TO GIVE THEM A LITTLE BIT OF AN EASIER SPACE TO KIND OF MOVE SOME OF THAT STUFF INTO THE EQUIPMENT IN AND OUT.

SO THEY'RE NOT HAVING TO STAY OUTSIDE ALL THE TIME, AND THEN REALLY REINFORCING THAT, THAT SEPARATION BETWEEN GIRLS AND BOYS ATHLETICS.

AND SO THEY'RE AND THEY EACH HAVE THEIR OWN ENTRANCE. SO THERE'S A LOT EASIER CONTROL FOR THE FOR THE COACHES.

THIS ONE, WE'RE HAVING TO ADD A LITTLE BIT TO GET ALL THE SQUARE FOOTAGE WE NEED FOR P.E.

AND ATHLETICS IN BOTH THE GIRLS AND THE BOYS LOCKER ROOMS, AND THEN ADDING ON KIND OF A SIMILAR STORAGE KIND OF ON THE SOUTH END OF THOSE GYMS TO MAKE THAT, TO HAVE THAT SAME OUTDOOR STORAGE OPPORTUNITY.

AND ZOOMING IN SO YOU CAN STILL SEE THAT, THAT DIVIDE BETWEEN THE TWO, THEY ACTUALLY GET THEIR OWN LAUNDRY ROOM. AND THIS LITTLE BLUE WE'RE INFILLING KIND OF ON UNDERNEATH THE EXISTING ROOF STRUCTURE.

SO WE'RE GAINING A LITTLE BIT OF EFFICIENCY IN TERMS OF HOW WE SPEND OUR DOLLAR.

AND SO KIND OF WALKING INTO THAT AGAIN IN JACKSON, THOSE LOCKER ROOMS, SCRAPING THOSE CLEAN IN THE ATHLETIC THAT YOU SEE ON THE TOP AND THEN RELAYING THOSE OUT TO HAVE COMPLETELY SEPARATE MEN'S AND WOMEN'S AND REALLY KIND OF FIXING HOW COACHES HAVE AN OFFICE AND CAN VIEW OUT INTO THE LOCKER ROOM SPACE AND HAS PEOPLE ENTER IN THE LOCKER ROOM SPACE OFF OF THE MAIN HALLWAY AND THEN THE P.E.
