THIS ACHIEVEMENT IS A REFLECTION ON WHAT YOU DO WITH YOUR CHILDREN EACH AND EVERY DAY.

TRUST OUR TEACHERS, OUR PRINCIPALS, OUR SCHOOLS AND WORKING TOGETHER WITH THE TRI-CITIES BROUGHT BACK THE STATE'S HIGHEST HONOR.

IT'S OUR STANLEY CUP. YOU KNOW, DELBERT, IF YOU COULD, LIKE, JUST SWITCH THE CAMERA SO PEOPLE COULD SEE IT IN THE BACKGROUND, YOU KNOW IT'S SUCH A BEAUTIFUL TROPHY WITH TWO GREAT PLAQUES.

AND, YOU KNOW, IT STARTS AT THE BOARDROOM. IT'S REFLECTED IN THE CLASSROOM AND IT'S BELOVED BY ALL OUR PARENTS.

FOR A1, CONSIDER APPROVAL OF THE 2026 2027 NEW SECONDARY COURSE REQUEST THE INDOMITABLE COLEMAN BRUMAN.

TONIGHT WE ARE BRINGING FORWARD ANOTHER ROUND OF SECONDARY NEW COURSES FOR THE 26-27 SCHOOL YEAR.

BEFORE WE GET STARTED, I WANT TO BE CLEAR, WE NORMALLY DO NOT BRING THIS FORWARD IN MAY, BUT THE THEME TONIGHT IS ALL ABOUT CLEAN UP AND NOT ABOUT NEW OPPORTUNITIES.

IT'S THINGS THAT WE'RE MAKING SURE THAT WE'RE DOING WITH OUR PEIMS CODES TO MAKE SURE THAT KIDS ARE TAKEN CARE OF THROUGH THE SYSTEM. THE NEXT SLIDE JUST SERVES AS A REMINDER TO THE COMMUNITY ON WHY WE DO THIS. SO ANYTIME WE BRING ANY NEW CODES FORWARD OR NEW COURSES FORWARD IT DOES REQUIRE BOARD APPROVAL AS OUTLINED IN EH LOCAL, AND I WANT TO SEND A SPECIAL THANK YOU TO THE COMMITTEE THAT HELPS ME THROUGHOUT THE YEAR AS WE ISOLATE THE COURSES AND GET READY FOR 26-27. SO TO GIVE EVERYBODY AN OVERVIEW OF WHAT YOU'RE GOING TO SEE TONIGHT.

FIRST OFF, I WANT TO TALK ABOUT WHAT'S HAPPENING IN THE BACKGROUND THAT YOU WILL NOT SEE THAT'S HAPPENING WITHIN OUR DEPARTMENT.

SO THE 26-27 COURSE GUIDE UPDATES. RIGHT NOW, WE'RE MAKING A DELIBERATE EFFORT TO MAKE SURE THAT WE ARE CONSOLIDATING COURSES, MAKING SURE THAT OUR PROGRAMMATIC OFFERINGS ARE CONSOLIDATED, REMOVING DUPLICATE COURSE OFFERINGS, WHICH IS KEY, ESPECIALLY FOR OUR HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATES, AND MAKING SURE THAT WE REQUIRE THE APPROPRIATE PREREQUISITES FOR ALL COURSES.

AS YOU SEE THERE ON THE BOTTOM OF THE SCREEN, MANY OF OUR COURSES GET DUPLICATED FOR DIFFERENT PROGRAMS. AND SO AS YOU SEE THERE WITH THREE DIFFERENT VERSIONS OF ALGEBRA TWO, WHEN YOU LOOK AT THE COURSE GUIDE THAT'S BEING PUBLISHED ONLINE, YOU'LL SEE JUST ONE OFFERING FOR ALGEBRA TWO AT ALL CAMPUSES, WHICH WILL KEEP IT VERY CLEAN AND SIMPLE AND READY TO BE COMMUNICATED TO THE FAMILIES.

NOW, WHAT YOU WILL SEE TONIGHT ON THE OVER ON THE RIGHT HAND SIDE. WHY ARE WE BRINGING ADDITIONAL COURSES FORWARD? NONE OF THESE ARE GOING TO COST NEW MONEY. THESE ARE NOT NEW PROGRAMS THAT WE'RE STARTING UP FROM SCRATCH.

WHAT WE'RE ACTUALLY DOING IS MAKING SURE THAT WE ARE MARRYING COURSES AND THEIR TITLES TO WHAT WE'RE TRULY ALREADY OFFERING.

AND SO ONE EXAMPLE THAT I HAVE OUTLINED THERE FOR YOU.

ORCHESTRA ENSEMBLE IS A PEIMS CODE THAT WE'VE USED FOR SEVERAL DIFFERENT PROGRAMS, INCLUDING GUITAR.

BUT NOW IN THE PEIMS CODE SYSTEM, WE HAVE A GUITAR CODE, SO WE WANT TO GO AHEAD AND NAME IT THE RIGHT THING.

SO IF WE HAVE AN INCREDIBLY TALENTED STUDENT THAT'S IN ORCHESTRA AND GUITAR, WE HAVE TWO SEPARATE COURSES THAT THAT KID GETS CREDIT FOR.

SO AS I'M WRAPPING UP HERE, I'M GOING TO BRING UP MY TWO COLLEAGUES TO TALK ABOUT THE COURSES IN CTE AND FINE ARTS AND FIRST UP CAREER AND TECHNICAL ED.

I WILL REITERATE THAT WE ARE NOT ADDING ANY NEW CTE COURSES.

THE CHANGES THAT WE HAVE HERE ARE SIMPLY FOR THE COURSE GUIDE.

SO THE FIRST TWO COURSES, DISASTER RESPONSE AND EMT BASIC, ARE NOW PART OF TEA'S STANDARD TEKS CATALOG AND ARE NOT INNOVATIVE COURSES ANY LONGER.

SO A NEW PEIMS CODE EXISTS REQUIRING BOARD APPROVAL TO ADD IT TO THE COURSE GUIDE.

THE OTHER COURSE IS AN AIR FORCE ROTC JROTC COURSE, AND IT WAS ADDED UNDER THE CTE UMBRELLA THIS YEAR, ROTC WAS. AND SO WE ARE CHANGING THIS. IN THE PAST, IT'S BEEN THE SAME COURSE CODE THAT WAS OFFERED IN A PE CREDIT.

BUT THIS BASIC COURSE IS NOW A LEVEL ONE CTE COURSE.

AND WE WANT TO ENSURE COMPLETER STATUS FOR OUR STUDENTS.

SO WE ARE CHANGING THAT PEIMS IN THE COURSE GUIDE.

OKAY, SO THIS IS ONLY AT ROWLETT HIGH SCHOOL.

CORRECT. AND THE EMT NOW IS AT THE GRCTC. GRCT, AND WHAT ABOUT THE DISASTER RESPONSE? THAT IS ALSO GRCTC? OKAY. VERY GOOD. ALL RIGHT.

THINGS LIKE THAT WHEN WE SPLIT GUITAR OUT OF AN ENSEMBLE OR ORCHESTRA OR ANYTHING THAT HAS NO IMPACT ON BUDGETARY ITEMS AT ALL IS THAT CORRECT? CORRECT. THAT'S CORRECT.

AND IN SOME WAYS, IT MAKES IT CLEANER. SO THAT WAY WE'RE ACTUALLY DENOTING TO THE STATE THIS IS THE ACTUAL COURSE THAT WE'RE TEACHING.

IT'S THESE TEKS. AND SO WHEN WE'RE SEPARATING OUT WITH THINGS LIKE ORCHESTRA AND GUITAR, WE'RE APPROPRIATE LINING OUR COURSES TO THE FUNDING STREAM.

BUT BY TOTALLY ACCURATELY DEFINING THE COURSE THAT THE STUDENT IS TAKING, THAT HAS NO IMPACT ON THE BUDGET.

NO. GOOD, BAD OR UGLY? YEAH. NO ADDITIONAL FUNDS.

THIS IS NOT ADDED STAFF OR ADDED FUNDS. IT'S JUST LINING UP WITH THE STATE.

AND THEN IB ART DESIGN STANDARD LEVEL. WE MATCH THE NAME WITH THE TEA DESIGNATION THAT'S IN THE CATALOG, AND MADE SURE THAT THE PEIMS ALIGNED WITH THIS BEING A TWO CREDIT COURSE.

SO ALL TO PREVENT DUPLICATE CREDITS. SAME THING WITH JV DRILL ONE, TWO, THREE, FOUR THIS WAS ORIGINALLY THE SAME PEIMS AS A DANCE ONE THROUGH FOUR. AND A LOT OF KIDS ARE TAKING BOTH.

SO THIS WAS A WAY TO SORT THEM OUT TO NOT HAVE DUPLICATE CREDITS.

AND THEN REGULAR DRILL ONE, TWO, THREE AND FOUR.

GUITAR IS ONLY AT GARLAND HIGH SCHOOL. IB ART IS ONLY AT GARLAND HIGH SCHOOL.

JV DRILL IS AT ALL THE HIGH SCHOOLS AND REGULAR DRILL IS ALL THE HIGH SCHOOLS.

SURE. SO, FOR INSTANCE, LET'S SAY GUITAR. SOMEBODY TALENTED IN THEIR CHOICE OF SCHOOL, HOW IS CONSIDERATION GIVEN TO THAT BEING THE ONLY PLACE IN ALLOWING THEM A SPOT AT GARLAND HIGH, FOR INSTANCE, IF IT WERE FULL? I MEAN, DOES THAT GO INTO THE CRITERIA FOR SELECTION OF THE KIDS AND WHERE THEY CAN GO? SO GARLAND HIGH SCHOOL IS PART OF THE FINE ARTS ACADEMY, AND THEY DO HAVE AN AUDITION PROCESS, WHICH DOES LEAVE SEATS OPEN FOR KIDS TO AUDITION AND PARTICIPATE IN THAT PROGRAM.

GARLAND INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT. THIS AGREEMENT IS DESIGNED TO EXPAND STUDENT ACCESS TO HIGH QUALITY, HANDS ON LEARNING EXPERIENCES THROUGH 4H PROGRAMING THAT DIRECTLY SUPPORTS YOUTH LEADERSHIP, DEVELOPMENT, CIVIC ENGAGEMENT, AND COLLEGE AND CAREER READINESS.

THE TEXAS A&M AGRILIFE EXTENSION, NOW LOCATED WITHIN THE CITY OF GARLAND AND IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE COUNTY COMMISSIONER, DISTRICT ONE OFFICE, PROVIDES A RANGE OF STUDENT CENTERED LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES.

THESE INCLUDE AFTER SCHOOL CLUBS, STEM ENRICHMENT, HEALTHY LIVING INITIATIVES, AND COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECTS, ALL ALIGNED TO SUPPORT THE WHOLE CHILD AND REINFORCE OUR DISTRICT PRIORITIES.

MOST IMPORTANTLY, THIS PARTNERSHIP CARRIES NO FINANCIAL IMPACT TO THE DISTRICT.

CAMPUSES WILL HAVE THE FLEXIBILITY TO ACCESS AND IMPLEMENT THESE RESOURCES BASED ON THEIR UNIQUE STUDENT NEEDS AND CAMPUS GOALS, ALLOWING FOR A TARGETED AND MEANINGFUL ENGAGEMENT.

THE ADMINISTRATION RECOMMENDS APPROVAL OF THIS MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING.

AND WE HAVE XIOMARA DIAZ-VARGAS FROM THE DALLAS COUNTY TEXAS A&M AGRILIFE EXTENSION.
